ORAS PU Teambuilding Competition (Voting)

This team is built around Tailwind Volbeat. Banded Relicanth is a very underrated set which destroys Stall/Bulky offense with a very good offensive stab and can OHKO roselia. Chatot was chosen next because once tailwind was up i wanted the most spammable stab specs mon and it came down to Chatot or a specs Psychic type. Monferno breaks down Grass, Rock and Steel types and sets rocks for the team. Simisage is nice for the knock off support and can endeavor down threats for Relicanth or Chatot to sweep after a tailwind. Volbeat provides tailwind and can be a emergency check to setup sweepers with red card since the team has 3 choiced mons. Rotom-Frost was added for a nice scarfer because i thought the team was a bit slow.

I haven't used Simisage or Relicanth a whole lot in PU so I gave my best effort to build a team around them. Thought it would be cool to have a rain team with Relicanth as the lead stealth rock/ rain setter. Have Simisage as a revenge kill for when the rain wares off. Volbeat is another rain dance setter who than can U-turn. I like a slow U-turn user so I have -speed and -speed IV's. Golduck is a really powerful pokemon in the rain and is faster than every pokemon with 426 speed in the rain. Beartic is another pokemon who benefits from the swift swim speed boost, Beartic also has swords dance so it can become a deadly sweeper. Armaldo is the last swift swim user, with rock blast STAB that can break sashes and sturdy pokemon and priority with aqua jet . Armaldo also has an amazing attack stat of base 125 and can great late game sweep with the rain up.

So I decided to go for a little change of pace regarding the core so I decided to try an Offensive Tank variant of Relicanth to start with as I was tempted to go Rock Polish at first, but this set put in some work while I was testing it out while still acting as a Normal- and Flying-check. The Speed on Relicanth is to outspeed uninvested base 65s such as Pelipper and Roselia. Simisage is standard, nothing fancy. Zebstrika was added as Jumpluff can easily beat Relicanth + Simisage while providing also providing some needed Speed. Scarf Chatot acts a good revenge killer and forms a VoltTurn core with Zebstrika. Machoke acts as a Will-O-Wisp absorber for Relicanth and Simisage which was beneficial for it as well thanks to Guts. Finally, Grumpig acts as a bulky pivot with Taunt + Toxic to wear down bulkier foes while preventing hazards from getting set on my side of the field which can easily wear down the rest of the team.

This team started around sub salac tales because I initially wanted to test it. Although the import is out of order, Lickilicky was the second mon I threw on because the SD set can lure and break a lot of things that annoy it (or, like, anything defensive). Relicanth gives me a normal/dodrio check because it destroyed my team at that point, as well as a 3rd sweeper and SR setter. I originally went with offensive magnet rise metang to check pilo and stunfisk which both annoyed my whole team, but after the pilo shift I swapped it for armaldo which helps with spikes HO (murders team) and lures waters in general to smack them around with Passho so that they don't murder my team (I swear this set is actually legit). Dusknoir helped with vigoroth and linoone which were both massive pains to deal with at this point, and gives me a general tank and access to priority, and Mime finishes it out by giving the team some much needed speed, healing wish for one of my 2 speed boosting sweepers and fraxure check. Fun team n_n

So I decided to build around SD Licki as well, since cleric is pretty boring and unappealing for a competition like this. I knew I needed something that could switch into things like Machoke, and I wanted something that could take advantage of it, so I went with Arbok. This thing partners pretty well with Licki, as Licki can break through some of Arbok's biggest checks like Misdreavus while Arbok, like I said, can set up on Machoke, which is one of Lickilicky's best checks. Next I added Chatot, basically for the same reasons as it was added in the CCAT. Chatot destroys offense, SD Licki destroys bulkier teams. Simple enough. I was beginning to look pretty weak to things like NP Raichu and strong special attackers in general, so I added Stunfisk as sort of a blanket check as well as my rocker. Vullaby synergizes really well with Stunfisk and is an overall really nice defogger in this meta, while also acting as a check to mons like Linoone and Stoutland which the team had troubles with. Lastly I added Grumpig because I needed a soft check for Simipour and special Floatzel as well as a strong check to things like Monferno, Ninetales, and especially Regice, the first two the team has troubles with once Stunfisk is weakened and Regice which I just lose to after a Rock Polish (176 Speed Modest outspeeds Adamant Mightyena). Pretty easy team to use, hope you guys enjoy :]

Ok lemme try my hand at this.

So this this is mainly built for making it easier for SD Lickilicky to sweep. To start, I started with a defensive backbone of Relicanth + Roselia which can take on a good portion of the tier by itself while also setting up Stealth Rock and Spikes respectively. Next, Zebstrika was added as it not only provides speed and a way to handle Jumpluff, it can wear down the opponents team with the combination of it's attacks and entry hazard damage. Misdreavus gives me a spinblocker, a Taunt user for Defoggers and slower users of entry hazards, as well as bit of a sweeper with Nasty Plot. Lastly, Floatzel was added to wear down physical threats for Lickilicky. I couldn't decide whether i wanted to go Physical or Special, so I just said screw it and went with a Physical mixed vairant of Floatzel with Ice Beam to lure in Tangela and Gourgeist making it easier for either Lickilicky or Zebstrika to pick them off.

Uh, I built with the intention of building stall, not really for this competition, but it does feature Lickilicky, so I thought why not? It is standard Lickilicky, which is boring, but Lickilicky does happen to be the center of the team.

This is a stall team :o, something you don’t usually see in PU. Relicanth is my Normal/Flying check and my SR setter. Lickilicky is the necessary fat special wall. Gourgeist-Super provides a nice counter to Munchlax/Vigoroth, which are threatening to stall teams, as well as countering most Machoke. Articuno is my secondary special wall, status remover, Roselia check, and Duosion counter (Haze + Pressure). Vibrava defogs but it doesn’t really do anything else. Finally, Duosion is my win condition with Calm Mind.

mag edit: fixed those sprites, please try to use the right ones next time *_*
