Tentacruel is a nice partner for volcanion for many reasons

Tentacruel can help Volcanion take on opposing Pokemon such as Breloom by weakening its defenses and possibly getting up enough hazards so Volcanion doesnt even have to deal with it. Many teams have good specially defensive walls but on normal chansey can be a bit hard to knock out bulky pokemon such as Chansey.
Tentacruel is a great pokemon in support for helping Volcanion sweep but not just cause it can clear hazards for volcanion but it can also add new hazards such as toxic spikes which help Volcanion sweep through opposing teams faster.
Volcanion is bothered by many common Hazards such as Stealth Rocks or spikes and due to Tentacruels good bulk and really decent speed tier it can help remove hazards from the field to allow Volcanion more time once it enters the field.
Volcanion although part Fire Type also has trouble vs some Pokemon such as Mega Venusaur and Taking a SolarBeam from modest Zard Y however Tentacruel can easily absorb incoming Solarbeams.

- Rotom is weak to grass -> Volcanion is neutral to grass
- Volcanion is physically bulkier, and Rotom is specially defensive because most electric moves are special
- Volcanion with specs is an amazing wallbreaker, and Rotom being the slow pivot it is can sponge attacks and volt switch out to gain momentum for volcanion, or cripple the threats with will-o-wisp.

Mega Venusaur I feel is the highly dangerous and broken optimal partner for Gengar! While Gengar helps tremendously vs Psychic, this mon has the ability to completely annihilate Ground, auto-win vs Electric, Rock, and Water. It's almost too easy to get boosted, and after 2-3, you're nearly unstoppable, and its bulk is beyond belief! Here's a couple replays showcasing it:

Skuntank is a perfect partner to Gengar. Skuntank switches in on the dark, psychic and ghost moves that threaten gengar, with a chance of pursuit trapping certain threats. Gengar's ground and fighting immunity is appreciated by skuntank. Skuntank also controls hazards in the form of defog which is appreciated by the poison team, which can suffer from hazard stacking. 184 speed on skuntank lets it outspeed adamant mega scizor, which is a huge threat to poison in general, and gives it a great chance to OHKO it after rocks.
