While trick room slowpoke/salandit might seem like fun right now, I'm worried that such a niche Pokemon would limit our options down the road and make the overall project less interesting; I'd much rather choose a more standard set now and choose cool things to fill in the gaps later. With that in mind, I think Clamperl hits the right balance of interesting and viable for now.

It's a tough pick, but I think clamperl would be cool. I've always found it interesting, and it's not going to limit us very much later. There are a couple of other I think might be cool as well, but I'll go with this.

By a large margin, it looks like Clamperl has won this round!

Clamperl @ DeepSeaTooth
Ability: Rattled
Level: 5
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 SpA / 80 SpD / 180 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 SpA
- Shell Smash
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power [Grass]

Now, we build! For the next 4/5 days, submissions are open. Please submit one Pokemon that synergizes well with Clamperl and is a logical next step for the team. Please do not post Pokemon below B- viability ranking without extremely solid reasoning.

Gummy

...three, smiles go for miles!
Diglett @ Focus Sash
Level: 5
Ability: Arena Trap
EVs: 36 HP / 236 Atk / 236 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Sucker Punch
- Memento

This shouldn't be surprising. Diglett works well on a lot of teams, but it's a good partner for Clamperl as well. Clam is kind of frail, so Memento allows it to set up safely. Since Pawn's Sucker Punch 2HKOes Clam after rocks, Diglett can take care of it. Sucker Punch can take care of a lot of fast mons that threaten Clam like Scarf Gastly. Since Clam needs hazards to deal with Sturdy foes, SR Dig is a possibility as well, but I feel like another team member can take care of that as well.

HotFuzzBall

Foongus @ Eviolite
Level: 5
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 124 HP / 160 Def / 160 SpD
Bold Nature
- Spore
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Hidden Power Fire

I feel that Clamperl and Foongus work very well together. Foongus gives opportunities for Clamperl to set up with Spore while also being a nice check to Water and Grass-types such as Ferroseed and Chinchou.

Cottonee @ Eviolite/ Darkium Z
Level: 5
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 116 HP / 196 Def / 196 SpD
Bold Nature
- Encore
- Knock Off
- Giga Drain
- Memento

Cottonee seems like the perfect partner right now for that potential water spam team. Knock off provides support to clamper so it can clean up easily late game and with the nerf of gale winds fletch is not a problem at all. Z memento can be used if you want to bring a mon back to full hp or just give a setup fodder to a full hp clamp( care of knock off clamperl holds deepseatooth). Decent fighting check overall and its role is clearly supportive. Be a little carefull of dark pokemon with prankster and you will be alright.

for reference here's some things i feel necessary on a clamperl team:

-help setting up (memento or screens)
-way to remove ferroseed
-way to remove pawniard
-way to remove mareanie/tentacool
-hazards

my submission:
Magnemite @ Eviolite
Level: 5
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 156 HP / 120 Def / 160 SpA
Modest Nature
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power Fighting
- Flash Cannon
- Thunderbolt

pawniard and ferroseed, arguably the 2 most threatening pokemon to a clamperl sweep are taken care of with this set. It can switch in and remove them both. I don't really have much else to say
