Project SS RU Matchmaking: Week 20 - Guzzlord (Submission) (DOUBLE POINTS)

:togekiss: @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 248 HP / 204 Def / 56 Spe
Bold Nature
- Air Slash
- Defog
- Thunder Wave/ Heal bell
- Roost
One of the perfect partner with Gastro. Checking Zarude almost completely, while it has to be careful around Vileplume. it has so much benefit that it's worth considering. Bulky pokes like Gastro tends to get baited and statused by toxic/burn thus heal bell can come in handy. Or turning on the Offensive with Np sets. Toge's weakness and matchup againts mons like Steelix, Toxitricity, Raikou got stop Cold by Gastro thus making a great synergy

:ss/Crobat:
Crobat @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 220 HP / 88 Def / 200 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Roost
- Brave Bird
- Defog / Taunt
- U-turn

Pivot Crobat is a great teammate with Gastrodon. Crobat is able to check and counter the grass types of the tier. Unlike other flying types its poison immunt and resists poison meaning it can't be poisoned. This is a huge buff allowing it to counter Roserade and Vileplume where the other flyers cannot. Crobat is also able to keep up momentum with U-turn whis is especially good with how Gastrodon kills momentum. Those arent the only grass types it can check it can also check Zarude relive pressure on it to check fighting types like Mienshao and Heracross. Crobat can help in pivoting around Toxic thanks to its poison immunity to draw a different attack to Gastrodon from Pokemon like Steelix, Bronzong.

KEVIN (Durant) @ Life Orb
Ability: Hustle
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- First Impression
- Iron Head
- Superpower
- Stomping Tantrum

The type synergy between these two is phenomenal; Gastrodon blanket checks the Fire types and Electric types not named Xurkitree in the tier, which, even though Stomping Tantrum can deal with, 80% accuracy is suboptimal. Meanwhile Durant comes in on Grass types like Roserade and Vileplume for free (no HP Fire :> ) and immediately pressures the opposing team. Toxic damage is also helpful for softening up many of the tier's bulky Waters. Good teammates for these two are definitely special tanks or cleric support, so SpDef Diancie makes a good partner :D

:ss/togekiss:
Togekiss @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 248 HP / 204 Def / 56 Spe
Bold Nature
- Air Slash
- Defog
- Thunder Wave
- Roost
Arguably the best mon in the tier, togekiss has a wide arsenal, allowing it to sweep or provide team support. let's focus on its support abilities for now. what can we pair with togekiss to form the beginnings of a strong team?
the deadline for submissions is the 4th of march, gmt +5:30!
have fun!

Banned deucer.
rhyperior

:bw/rhyperior:
Rhyperior @ Leftovers
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 252 HP / 16 Atk / 240 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Megahorn

Rhyperior is a perfect teammate for Togekiss, as Togekiss dislikes Electric-types such as Xurkitree, Toxtricity, and Raikou, so Rhyperior can make up for a great partner to check these dangerous Electric-type Pokemon. Furthermore Rhyperior can setup Stealth Rocks to make things easier for Togekiss in the long run of the game and to cripple Pokemon down eith the entry hazard damage. Rhyperior also offers a great Rock-type resist and it also is able to threaten Steel-types, which Togekiss dislikes such as Registeel, Doublade, and Steelix. Togekiss on the other hand offers a solid Ground-switchin' and is able to paralyse threats for Rhyperior to break past them easier, with luring Metagross in. Togekiss can threaten one of Rhyperiors biggest threats in Heracross as well. In overall these two make up for a great partnership and support each other really well.

firstly who runs twave i mean even on defensive kiss you want to actually thwart common SR users
Secondly Reserving Flygon.

:bw/flygon:
Flygon @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 8 Atk / 152 Def / 96 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Toxic / Defog
- Roost
- U-turn

Utility Flygon is a great teammate for Togekiss. Flygon is able to check several of the tiers Rock types and electric types which Togekiss obviously appreciates. being able to check Rhyperior is especailly notable as few pokemon reliably check Rhyperior. Unlike other Ground types it does not instantly die to Xurkitree which is great. Flygon is able to check Raikou and stop its momentum grabbing volt switch and keep momentum with U-turn. Flygon itself is an overall better Defog user so it could free Togekiss of running Defog in this case allow Flygon to run both U-turn and Toxic which is excellent for it. Flygon really appreciates cleric support to deal with Toxic and Scald burns as its generally forced to swap into those.

:ss/gastrodon-east:
Gastrodon @ Leftovers
Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Earth Power
- Ice Beam
- Recover
- Toxic / Clear Smog

This particular Togekiss variant hates facing Steels like Stakataka, Registeel, Steelix, etc and Rhyperior. Gastrodon has the bulk and the moves to get past them all. Recover for longevity, EP to send them into the next world, Toxic for spamming status, and finally Clear Smog for setup sweepers that think they can set up on Gastrodon. Oh yeah, it even serves as a Volt Switch immunity for Togekiss. Overall, it's a great addition to the meta and does its job nicely!

bewear

:bewear:
Bewear @ Silk Scarf
Ability: Fluffy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Double-Edge
- Drain Punch
- Darkest Lariat

Bewear can be a dangerous wallbreaker and sets itself apart from other fightings with the combo of high attack, sd and bulk. It struggles with speed however. This is where toge comes in, it can really help bewear out with twave support, waving things like volcanion and noivern that would otherwise highly pressure bewear. Silk scarf is chosen over chople as toge is already a 4x resist to fighting, but chople is a fine option aswell.

He didn't notice that the lights had changed
Reserving regidrago

changing to heracross

i hate this, oath changed his sub to hera and i didn't check. guess i'll try coballion now

:cobalion:
third times the charm (Cobalion) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Close Combat
- Iron Head
- Volt Switch

Provides rocks to chip down necro's targets. Rocks are just good support for offensive mons. It also offensively threatens stakataka and incineroar aswell as togekiss (u can't meteor beam them both, and u cant set up vs incin) helping necro clean and providing volt switch to retain momentum on forced switches for more setup oppurtunities.
