Choice Specs Meloetta is a potent wallbreaker thanks to STAB Boomburst and Lumina Crash, letting it break through almost every wall lacking Covert Cloak on its own. Key to Meloetta's success is its potent access to Boomburst which allows it to break just about anything that isn't a strong resist or immunity and many of these switchins dislike having their special defense reduced by Lumina Crash if without Covert Cloak.

Beyond its first two moves Specs Meloetta will typically run U-Turn in order to maintain momentum, especially in the early game when the opponent may have Pokémon with immunities to Meloetta's primary attacks (poor phrasing avoiding 50/50s doesnt come across), the fourth slot typically reserved for Focus Blast, which will OHKO non-Chople Tyranitar and enable Meloetta to punish Heatran. There are a wide variety of other options, which include Shadow Ball, Dazzling Gleam, Glare, Trick, Knock Off, Tera Blast, and Tidy Up, all of which provide different utility or coverage.

Timid is the preferred nature to outspeed Gholdengo, Rotom, Modest Zapdos, and Modest Volcarona, while Modest can pick up additional KOs like

Meloetta's primary weakness is the fact that each of its primary moves has a common immunity, which, when combined with the fact that this set locks into attacks due to Choice Specs, means it greatly appreciates pivots that can switch into common Dark or Ghost types such as Urshifu-Rapid-Strike or Ting-Lu. Other Pokemon that Meloetta pair well with are bulky pivots such as Landorus-Therian, Rotom-Wash, and Toxapex, which can help Meloetta get in more easily and handle threats such as Tyranitar and strong physical attackers such as (Iron Valiant?).

Normal-type Tera is chosen to maintain the Ghost immunity Meloetta appreciates while allowing it to increase its burst power. Other options such as Fighting or Fairy can work to help Meloetta

Timid Nature / Modest Nature

Specs Meloetta serves as one of the most potent wallbreakers of the STABmons metagame. Thanks to a combination of its powerful STAB attacks in Boomburst and Luster Purge great psychic moves such as Lumina Crash and Psystrike coupled with its high 128 base Special Attack, Meloetta is capable of breaking or 1v1ing just about any wall in the metagame with two moves alone. Key to Meloetta's success is its potent access to Boomburst which allows it to break just about anything that isn't a strong resist or immunity and many of these switchins dislike having their special defense reduced by Lumina Crash if without Covert Cloak. Meloetta utilizes its Speed or high Special bulk combined with its power to force out opponents, and either reduces their Special Defense with Luster Purge, breaking even most resists in several hits, or uses Boomburst for immediate breaking power.

Beyond its first two moves Specs Meloetta will typically run U-Turn in order to maintain momentum, and a coverage or support option. The primary option for this with the fourth slot typically being reserved for Focus Blast, which will OHKO non-Chople Tyranitar and enable Meloetta to punish Heatran. There are a wide variety of other options, which include Shadow Ball, Dazzling Gleam, Glare, Trick, Knock Off, Tera Blast, and Tidy Up, all of which provide different utility or coverage.

While Timid is typically the superior nature due to Meloetta's somewhat crowded speed tier and already more than adequate breaking power, Timid versus Modest ultimately down to preference; Timid outspeeds some important Pokemon such as max Speed Gholdengo and Rotom-formes, base 100s without a boosting nature such as unboosted Volcarona, while Modest will simply deal more to switch-ins, and occasionally allow you to pick up a OHKO.

It also appreciates Wish or Screens support from Pokemon such as Snorlax or Grimmsnarl allowing it to leverage its natural bulk to stay healthy and win 1v1s. Other Pokemon that Meloetta pair well with are Landorus-Therian, Rotom-Wash, and Toxapex.

Normal-type Tera is chosen to maintain the Ghost immunity Meloetta appreciates while allowing it to increase its burst power. Other options can work depending on the team and the coverage chosen.
