Smogon's Official Ladder Tournament Playoffs - Round 1

Here's how we decided this will work. When ORAS OU is released and the information regarding the game is all known, players can decide between facing off in either XY OU or ORAS OU. However, if players can't come to an agreement, ORAS OU will be the required metagame for them to play. For now, this round is XY OU only.

Remember, THIS IS A DOUBLE ELIMINATION TOURNAMENT! All matches are to be played in a BEST OF THREE format, and all standard XY OU rules apply.

Also, I should mention: if I don't see contact between players within at least three days after the OP was posted, I will sub people out. Deadlines are only a week, so try not to john too much or else someone will be taking your place.

This was a shitty situation and you'll all just have to roll with it.

Don't like the ORAS thing at all. I realize ORAS will be the new meta game, but I felt like this would be a good "last hurrah" for xy so to speak.

Also that'll have a huge impact on team-building and such, I don't even know how my team would perform in ORAS. Not to mention some stuff needs a quick ban. *cough* mence.

Would you guys prefer something along the lines of the following: when ORAS OU is released and the information regarding the game is all known and playoffs transition (we intended to include ORAS OU after Salamence was banned too, by the way), players can decide between facing off in either XY OU or ORAS OU. However, if players can't come to an agreement, ORAS OU will be the required metagame for them to play.

You don't need to clog up the thread by posting here saying you agree, but you can acknowledge whether you like the the above format better through a like. If there's support for that instead, we'll be happy to change. We would like to include ORAS OU in this tournament somehow, though, because XY will be a dead tier by the time this gets rolling, but the concerns are understood and this should be fair enough.

Now that I'mback from school. Me and Hugo are playing November 19th @ 7-8PM GMT -5. I'm looking forward to this, been wanting to fight Hugo for a while and can finally get the chance too (even tho my last comment doesn't seem like I am). Should be fun and I'm actually excited/nervous for it. n_n

Gonna post predictions on matches I believe will be most worth while to witness:

Mob Barley vs chimpact - I've known Mob for a while and I know he can play, however playing chimpact is a different challenge rather then playing your average ladder player. Unless he can pull through somehow, I can't see chimp losing. (content)

Pridy vs M Dragon - Both great players, however I know M Dragon is mainly known for lower OU tiers, not as good in XY, also I haven't seen Pridy very often so he might be rusty, something to take advantage of. Still something I would like to watch

Lord Moet II vs Valentine - Why do frens have to fight each other... Both Solid, but a higher lean towards Valentine but we'll see what happens.

Ciele vs aim - I don't think I need to demonstrate this..... Get em joey :]

Henry vs reyscarface - Herny is a bit underrated, however is still a more of a ladder player rather then tour player. I'm leaning toward rey mainly from his experience in big tours and the way that he plays is impressive. Henry is the underdog and might pull through. Only time will tell.

Bloo vs WhiteQueen - I want Whitequeen to win actually, yet I know Bloo is just consistent as fuck. This is actually a great series to see.

Thatsjustpeachy vs sebixxl - My German fren, innovative as fuck with a Crocune fetish. Get em my nigga

Leftiez vs PDC - One of the best matchups in my opinion. Both phenomenal players and I actually don't know who will win this.

Tesung vs SoulWind - Again, can't ask for a better matchup. Even though Tesung and I don't see eye-to-eye sometimes, I know he's a great player and has proved himself again and again. SoulWind is also a great player and a fren of mine. Can't wait to see this.

FlamingVictini vs Toxzn - My nigga, my fren, I don't see you losing this

FLCL vs Reymedy - Lol damn, another good matchup. I'm only picking FLCL because I know he plays more XY OU and has more experience with it rather then Reymedy since he's more BW2. But a good matchup regardless

Conflict vs -Frexa- - Good matchup, but I see Conflict pulling through

-Tsunami- vs Sinclair - One of my teachers, JJ my nigga, you got dis :]

Starmaster vs ben gay - Starmaster is my fren but can't go wrong that ben gay is pretty fucking solid, especially with is innovative shit

TheEnder vs BKC - Tossed up, Endre is a good OU player, however BKC has more tour experience (mainly in DPP and ADV, but has a good knowledge on XY OU)
