Absolutely. Imperfect boosted stat and wasted flawless IV in Attack pretty much merits tossing and trying again.

I mean, you could bottle cap the flawed stat, but it's probably not worth it for a special attacker to have a 31 in attack. A better modest spread shouldn't be that hard to get.

So? A fainted synchronize Pokemon still works, or raise a Modest Synchronize Umbreon. Lunala doesn't know any moves to hit Dark types super-effectively with at the time of capture, and Umbreon has good defensive stats and HP to take hits.
