**Dark-types**: While Silvally-Ghost has a problem with the majority of Dark types in the tier, Skuntank proves to be its best counter, with its bulk able to tank Silvally's attacks with ease.
**Faster Ghost types**: Choice Scarf Haunter and Oricorio-G can OHKO Silvally with little prior damage, however Oricorio-Sensu is invalidated without a Choice Scarf.
**Chip damage**: Strong fast sweepers such as Archeops and Pyroar can 2HKO Silvally with their STAB attacks.
**Normal-types**: Miltank and Audino can heal off Silvally's attacks while crippling it with Toxic. Kangaskhan can check Silvally pretty well due to the Scrappy ability and accessibility to strong priority moves including Fake Out and Sucker Punch, and Drampa can threaten with STAB Draco Meteor.
**Sp. Def walls**: Silvally's inaccessibility to moves boosting its special attack (besides the unviable Work Up) prevents it from breaking through any Sp. Def walls that are hit neutrally including Cradily, Lanturn, and Hitmonchan.
**Lurantis**: Perhaps one of the greatest threats to Defog Silvally. It gains an evasion boost from Defog due to its excellent ability in Contrary, and with Assault Vest, it will hardly be 4HKOed by Flamethrower.
- Silvally-Ghost is one of the best offensive pivots in the tier due to its good typing and good bulk.
- Its good base 95 speed allows it to revenge kill and clean late game.
- Silvally's access to Defog allows it to serve as an effective form of hazard control, while also being a prominent spin blocker.
- Despite its capability to check most offensive threats, Silvally fails to beat healthy Sp. Def walls such as Lanturn, Type: Null, and Audino one on one.
- Solid 95/95/95 defenses give it decent longevity and allow it to take neutral hits reasonably well.

Moves
========
- Defog clears the entire field of entry hazards and screens.
- Shadow Ball is Silvally's STAB attacking move, checking common entry hazard setters including Mesprit, Qwilfish, and Palossand.
- Flamethrower is a good answer for Ferroseed and Abomasnow, 2HKOing the former and OHKOing the latter.
- Toxic can be used to pressure Sp. Def walls that Ghostvally struggles to break past including Lanturn, Cradily, and Hitmonchan.
- Thunderbolt is also an option for the last moveslot as it OHKOes Swanna, Qwilfish, and Floatzel after rocks, while also hitting Offensive Noctowl super effectively.
Set Details
========
- Silvally-Ghost has 252 SpA EVs to maximize its mediocre special attack.
- A Timid nature with maximum speed is preferred as it allows Silvally to outspeed common threats such as Lilligant and Oricorio-G.
- RKS System changes Silvally's type into its held Memory (in this case Ghost). However, because of this, it cannot hold another item.
Usage Tips
========
- Silvally-Ghost should be brought in early game to check common entry hazard setters like Ferroseed, Palossand, Leavanny, and Qwilfish, before getting whittled down too much. Silvally has good longevity and can Defog multiple times throughout the match.
- It can be brought in to revenge kill weakened threats, where it can choose either to retaliate or Defog (if necessary).
- Silvally can also be used a check to threaten Psychic-types such as Mesprit, Raichu Alola, and Mr. Mime.
- It can be brought into Hitmonchan as an effective spin blocker (if Defog is not needed), and cripple it with Toxic.
- Silvally prevents Fighting- types including Primeape and Passimian from spamming Close Combat and also counters Last Resort Komala. However, it must be wary of Knock Off from Passimian.
Team Options
========
- Gurdurr is Ghostvally's best team mate offensively, as it is able to check Silvally's main threats including Skuntank, Persian Alola, and Absol.
- Miltank has a niche as being one of the few Normal- type Stealth Rockers in the tier, greatly appreciating Silvally's immunity to Close Combat, who can also spin block.
- Fairy- types such as Togetic and Granbull can swap in onto some the Dark-types moves aimed at Silvally, but Knock Off will undermine Togetic's effectiveness as a wall.
- Wallbreakers such as Choice Band Stoutland and Hitmonchan tear down the walls that sponge Silvally's special attacks, including Lanturn, Audino, Type: Null, and Skuntank. They compliment each other type wise as well, as Silvally can be brought in against Fighting type threats.
- Fire-types including Magmortar and Pyroar can check Assault Vest Lurantis, who takes advantage of a Defog or Parting Shot from Silvally. However, they must both be wary of Lurantis' strong physical attacks including Superpower and Knock Off.

Other Options
=============
- Silvally can be used as a more defensive Defogger with max EVs in HP and Defense. However, due to its lack of Leftovers or reliable recovery, it gets whittled down pretty easily. Defensive Ghostvally has its niche to be a general nuisance with Parting Shot and Roar, but is outclassed by Dusclops in this role overall.
- Physical Silvally with Swords Dance is another option, but it is generally outclassed by other SD users such as Absol due to its access to priority and wider physical moveset.
- Parting Shot is a notable move to mention, as it allows Silvally to pivot out of unfavorable matchups or provide momentum for the team.
