Project PU Victim of the week - Week 47: Agility Kingler

Reserving Seaking

Hard Check

Seaking @ Leftovers
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 104 HP / 252 Atk / 152 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Waterfall
- Megahorn
- Knock Off
- Toxic

Seaking is a nice check to Rotom-F as it is immune to its Electric STAB and takes minimal damage from Blizzard. Probably could be a counter, but no reliable recovery is meh(unless u want to run ChestoResto) and being tricked a scarf isn't ideal either.

252 SpA Rotom-F Blizzard vs. 104 HP / 0 SpD Seaking: 93-110 (28.4 - 33.6%) -- 96.3% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery <- assuming they hit rofl

Check

Regice @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpA
Modest Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Focus Blast

Regice isn't immune to Rotom-F Electric STAB like Seaking but takes good neutral damage from them, according to its solid Special Defense and has 62.5% chance to OHKO Rotom-F with Focus Blast. Regice can also take minimal damage from Blizzard thanks to its Ice type.

252 SpA Rotom-F Thunderbolt vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Regice: 69-82 (19 - 22.5%) -- possible 6HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Rotom-F Blizzard vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Regice: 42-50 (11.5 - 13.7%) -- possibly the worst move ever — ez pz

Probopass as a counter

Probopass @ Leftovers
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 248 HP / 248 SpD / 12 Spe
Calm Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Power Gem
- Earth Power
- Volt Switch

That's really simple, Probo tanks any hit Rotom-F can deliver, and strikes back with Power Gem. You should perhaps be aware of a possible Trick, but even with a Choice Scarf instead of Leftovers you still counter it.

252 SpA Rotom-F Thunderbolt vs. 248 HP / 248+ SpD Probopass: 69-82 (21.3 - 25.3%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery

0 SpA Probopass Power Gem vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Rotom-F: 128-152 (53.1 - 63%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Grumpig @ Leftovers
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpD / 8 Spe
Calm Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Psychic
- Focus Blast
- Protect

Thanks to its high bulk on the specially defensive side, and access to Thick Fat, Grumpig can switch easily on Rotom-F without taking much damage, and then threaten it with Focus Blast. Trick is annoying if you get caught on the switch, otherwise Grumpig can scout it with Protect, but even if Grumpig gets Trick'd it should be able to break through Rotom-F anyway unless Focus Blast misses a lot.

Camerupt as a check.

Camerupt @ Leftovers
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic
- Lava Plume / Fire Blast
- Earth Power

Camerupt tanks all attacks from Rotom-F with relative ease making it a decent check. Repeated Blizzard's hurt but no way it's going to hit more than two so you'll probably be fine. Pretty nice alternative to Stunfisk on teams that can't afford to be too weak against Ice.

Lickylicky as a counter

Lickilicky @ Leftovers
Ability: Oblivious
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Wish
- Protect
- Body Slam
- Knock Off

Lickilicky can easily tank both STAB moves from Rotom-F and only fears Trick from its' Choice Scarf. Since Lickilicky endures the minimal damage, it can Knock off and Body slam Rotom-F to victory.

Calcs:
0 Atk Lickilicky Body Slam vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Rotom-F: 76-90 (31.5 - 37.3%) -- 82% chance to 3HKO
252 SpA Rotom-F Blizzard vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Lickilicky: 117-138 (27.5 - 32.5%) -- 66.2% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Rotom-F Thunderbolt vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Lickilicky: 94-112 (22.1 - 26.4%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery

Banned deucer.

Bouffalant
@ Assault Vest
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Return
- Earthquake
- Pursuit
- Megahorn

With AV and its good bulk, Bouffy is a good check to Rotom-F. Blizzard does 27.4 - 32.3%, Thunderbolt hits for 22.3 - 26.7%, and Volt Switch does even less (17.5 - 20.8%). As such, you can take those hits comfortably and strike back with Return, which 2HKOs cleanly. Although Bouffy doesn't really appreciate Trick, it can still function decently with a Scarf and doesn't mind it as much as more defensive answers, like Audino and Clefairy. Good pkmn overall!

You should run Ice Beam on the last slot with Sheer Force and Naughty, as it hits Tangela / Gourgeist-Super / Quilladin very hard after they switch into a Knock Off. I used to run full physical and also tried double dance, but Ice Beam was the best as it lured these 3 pretty effectively.

Leafeon as check

Leafeon @ Choice Band
Ability: Leaf Guard
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Leaf Blade
- Knock Off
- Aerial Ace
- Bullet Seed

Can live any hit from kingler with relative ease and ohko back even if choice band has been knocked off pretty self explanatory. Yache SD works well too but I didn't want to put that since it requires rocks to get a guaranteed OHKO.

252+ Atk Leafeon Leaf Blade vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Kingler: 254-302 (100.7 - 119.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ Atk Choice Band Leafeon Leaf Blade vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Kingler: 384-452 (152.3 - 179.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ Atk Life Orb Kingler Superpower vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Leafeon: 148-175 (54.6 - 64.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Quilladin @ Eviolite
Ability: Bulletproof
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Spikes
- Roar
- Synthesis
- Seed Bomb

Quilladin can switch in without much troubles on Kingler. It doesn't appreciate getting hit by Knock Off but its physical bulk still remains quite solid, and is able to hit back with Seed Bomb, dealing high damage. Otherwise, it can choose to recover up using Synthesis. One reason I choose to put Quilladin and not Tangela is because Quilladin fares better against the Ice Beam variant, as it doesn't 2HKO Quilladin.

Tangela as a Counter

Tangela @ Eviolite
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Bold Nature
- Giga Drain
- Sleep Powder
- Synthesis
- Hidden Power Fire

Tangela never appreciated to switch on Knock Off, but despite this, Tangela can handle Kingler and OHKO back with Giga Drain. Nothing much to say, except Tangela can take a hit even after a SD and recover with Giga Drain.

+2 252+ Atk Life Orb Kingler Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Tangela: 133-156 (39.8 - 46.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Kingler Superpower vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Tangela: 82-97 (24.5 - 29%) -- 99.8% chance to 4HKO

0 SpA Tangela Giga Drain vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Kingler: 282-332 (112.3 - 132.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Kadabra as a check:
Kadabra_XY.gif

Kadabra @ Focus Sash
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Psychic
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Fighting]
- Thunder Wave

The blanket check returns to take one single hit and return with either a Thunder Wave or a KO with Psychic. Of course Kadabra can't switch in on Kingler, but Kadabra also doesn't care about how many boosts Kingler has; Kingler still needs to break the Focus Sash first in order to KO. This makes Kadabra a very reliable check to Kingler.

252 SpA Kadabra Psychic vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Kingler: 241-285 (95.6 - 113%) -- 75% chance to OHKO
75% chance to KO without any extra damage, but an OHKO with that Life Orb recoil or entry hazards.

Also RIP Pelipper, you would have been a good entry here.

Meganium as a Counter

Meganium @ Leftovers
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 HP / 36 SpA / 220 SpD
Calm Nature
- Aromatherapy
- Synthesis
- Giga Drain
- Dragon Tail

Unlike the other bullky grass-types Meganium doesn't rely on Eviolite meaning it won't be hindered for the rest of the match. It can also recover off damage with Synthesis if it does carry Superpower. Same situation with Tangela as it can take a hit after Swords Dance

36 SpA Meganium Giga Drain vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Kingler: 252-296 (100 - 117.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252+ Atk Life Orb Kingler Superpower vs. 252 HP / 220 Def Meganium: 302-356 (82.9 - 97.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Jumpluff is a check

Jumpluff @
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Sleep Powder
- Swords Dance / U-turn
- Acrobatics
- Seed Bomb

Even with Stealth Rock, Jumpluff can take any hit from Kingler (except Ice Beam but that's not on the set), put it to Sleep with Sleep Powder, and assuming you don't miss like me, you can 2HKO it with Seed Bomb or even take the opportunity to set up a Swords Dance to clean the remainder of the opposing team. However, Jumpluff can only switch into Kingler once, so it's more of a check than a counter if anything.

252+ Atk Life Orb Kingler Crabhammer vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Jumpluff: 155-183 (53.2 - 62.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ Atk Life Orb Kingler Knock Off vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Jumpluff: 135-160 (46.3 - 54.9%) -- 64.5% chance to 2HKO

+2 252 Atk Jumpluff Seed Bomb vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Kingler: 270-320 (107.1 - 126.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Gogoat as check

Gogoat @ Leftovers
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Horn Leech
- Bulk Up
- Milk Drink
- Earthquake

So gogoat cant really switch into it as it is extremely risky, but it can check and rkill it by appropriately recovering with milk drink onto knock off and horn leeching it onto superpower by winning the 1vs1, as horn leech is a guaranteed 2hko, or also milk drinking again onto superpower could help to be more safe against it.

Gourgeist Super COUNTER

Gourgeist-Super (M) @ Colbur Berry
Ability: Frisk
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Impish Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Seed Bomb
- Foul Play
- Synthesis

252+ Atk Life Orb Kingler Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Colbur Berry Gourgeist-Super: 95-113 (25.4 - 30.2%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
+2 252+ Atk Life Orb Kingler Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Colbur Berry Gourgeist-Super: 190-224 (50.8 - 59.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+2 0 Atk Gourgeist-Super Foul Play vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Kingler: 202-238 (80.1 - 94.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

He can safely enter one of the moves of Kingler , Besides getting burns it also entering 2+ attack and damage with foul play
