Overview
########
Everyone knows Mew, the original legendary. It is after Smeargle the most versatile Pokémon in the game, and one of the top threats in UU. You would expect Mew is a threat because of its versatality, but there are a lot of roles it is outclassed in.
Instead, Mew is one of the most dangerous defensive threats in the meta, with access to all the support moves it needs like Defog, Will-O-Wisp, Stealth Rock and Knock Off. With its solid stats and instant recovery it can stay around and constantly wall threats like Nidoking.
It's not too shabby offensively either, with cool boosting moves like Swords Dance and Nasty Plot.
While Mew does have some weak points like being weak to common moves like Knock Off and U-turn, it can easily overcome these problems if you play it to it's strengths.
Specially defensive
########
name: Specially defensive
move 1: Defog / Stealth Rock
move 2: Will-O-Wisp / Thunder Wave
move 3: Soft-Boiled
move 4: Knock Off / Psychic
ability: Synchronise
item: Leftovers
evs: 252 HP / 232 SDef / 24 Spe
nature: Careful / Calm
Moves
========
Mew is one of the(if not the) best Defog users in the tier, because its a durable user of it and it can constantly get rid of the hazards on the field to support its teammates. Stealth Rock on the other hand can be put on Mew as well if you have no room on another member of your team. Will-O-Wisp can weaken the physical attackers that try to hit Mew's weaker defense stat, and it's good for wearing pokemon down in general. Thunder Wave cripples Hydreigon and Fire types trying to get in on Mew for free. Soft-Boiled is mandatory to keep Mew healthy throughout the match. The last slot can be either Knock Off or Psychic. Knock Off is the preferred option because it can cripple a ton of switchins by removing their item. However, if you want to hit Fighting types hard like Heracross and Infernape, Psychic is definitely an option.
Set Details
========
Mew has enough speed EVs to outspeed everything up to Adamant Honchkrow, while the rest is put in HP and Special Defense to take hits from special attackers such as Nidoking and Slowbro. If you are using Knock Off run a Careful nature, and use Calm nature if running Psychic.
Usage Tips
========
This Mew can work on any team that needs Defog support or a solid pivot. Try not to let it lose its item quickly unless you have no other choice, because Mew likes it Leftovers a lot. You can switch it into most special attackers, just be careful of Hydreigon and Mega Houndoom. Don't try to take on Sableye, you are guaranteed to lose.
Team Options
========
Florges or Aromatisse is a great partner for Mew as it can switch in on all the offensive Pokémon that threaten out Mew like Hydreigon, Heracross and Absol.
Hydreigon can switch into Slowbro and Chandelure who are annoying to Mew as Slowbro can set up Calm Minds in its face and Chandelure can kill with Shadow Ball.
Stallbreaker
########
name: Stallbreaker
move 1: Taunt
move 2: Will-O-Wisp
move 3: Soft-Boiled
move 4: Knock Off / Night Shade
ability: Synchronise
item: Leftovers
evs: 252 HP / 120 SDef / 136 Spe
nature: Jolly
Moves
========
Taunt is the most important move on this set. It prevents opponents from statussing it, healing themselves, boosting or setting up hazards. Will-O-Wisp wears down walls that are hard to break with Knock Off and it cripples physical attackers that aren't Fire type. Soft-boiled prevents you from getting worn down by constant assaults. Knock Off gets rid of items like Leftovers, so walls won't have residual healing, or Life Orbs and power boosting Choice items. Night Shade does a constant 100 HP damage, but it doesn't get rid of items like Knock Off.
Set Details
========
The speed EVs are to outspeed positive natured base 85s like Nidoking and Heracross. You can invest more in speed to outspeed base 90s such as Roserade but it will miss out on some bulk. The rest is invested in HP and SpDef to take special hits better.
Usage Tips
========
This Mew can work on any team. It can be put on stall to beat opposing stall, can work on balance as a Nidoking switchin, and on Spikes stacking offense to prevent the opponent from Defogging.
Team Options
========
Florges and Aromatisse are again great partners, especially because they beat Sableye, one obstacle Mew can never get past. Hydreigon beats Houndoom and Chandelure, while Mew can burn and taunt Florges to wear it down for Hydreigon.
Nasty Plot
########
name: Nasty Plot
move 1: Nasty Plot
move 2: Psyshock / Psychic
move 3: Aura Sphere
move 4: Dark Pulse
ability: Synchronise
item: Life Orb / Leftovers / Colbur Berry
evs: 252 SpAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spe
nature: Timid
Moves
========
Nasty Plot Mew is a rare sight these days, but can still be very effective and it has a surprise factor. Nasty Plot doubles its special attack and allows it to plow through walls and bulky teams. Psyshock is the preferred STAB move because it can hit Florges and Blissey on their weaker defense stat, but Psychic is more powerful. Aura Sphere is there to hit Mega Aggron, Hydreigon and Empoleon hard. Dark Pulse puts the hurt on Jirachi and Slowbro.
Set Details
========
Simple special sweeper EVs. Max speed with a Timid nature to speed tie with other base 100s. Max special attack to hit as hard as possible. Life Orb allows it to hit harder, while Leftovers makes for an easier time setting up. Colbur Berry makes it harder for Scarf Hydreigon to revenge kill you.
Usage Tips
========
This Mew can be used as a wallbreaker versus stall as it can boost up without fearing too much. Versus offense it should be used rather as a late-game sweeper that cleans up the rest of the weakened team.
Team Options
========
Nasty Plot Mew likes hazards to get the kills, so Nidoqueen, Froslass and Roserade for great partners. Something that can take down special walls like Choice Band Victini or Life Orb Hydreigon with Superpower and Iron Tail.
Swords Dance
########
name: Swords Dance
move 1: Swords Dance
move 2: Zen Headbutt
move 3: Drain Punch
move 4: Sucker Punch
ability: Synchronise
item: Life Orb / Colbur Berry / Lum Berry
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spe
nature: Adamant / Jolly
Moves
========
One Swords Dance boosts Mew's attack to a whopping 656, which coupled with Life Orb can do huge damage to an unsuspecting opponent. Zen Headbutt is the main STAB move and is mandatory to hit Fighting types and Florges. Drain Punch is there to hit Hydreigon and other Dark types and it's the strongest move Mew has to hit Mega Aggron. At the same time it is a small form of recovery. Sucker Punch is a form of priority that can take out revenge killers like Victini and Chandelure.
Set Details
========
Simple physical sweeper spread with max Attack and max Speed. Adamant is the preferred nature because Mew does already lack a bit of power and it has priority, but Jolly is an option if you want to speed tie with other base 100s or outspeed Roserade(although Roserade dies to a +2 LO Sucker Punch). Life Orb is the main item because without it Mew misses out on many kills like Victini and Darmanitan. Colbur Berry and Lum berry are options for easier setup.
Usage Tips
========
This Mew's best use is as a cleaner on offense when most of the opposing team has been worn down. Setting up an SD is easy because of Mew's natural bulk, and it can pick off weakened threats with a Sucker Punch.
Team Options
========
This Mew likes hazard support even more than NP Mew to ensure kills on weakened threats, so Froslass, Roserade, Mega-Aggron and Nidoqueen are good partners. A Fairy can switch into Hydreigon if it hasn't been worn down enough yet to be in killing range of Sucker Punch.
Other Options
########
- Baton Pass to escape Pursuit-users or pass boosts(will get own set depending on OU suspect results)
- U-turn/Volt Switch
- Choice Scarf/Specs/Band
- Explosion
- Tailwind
- Super Fang
- Reflect Type
- Trick Room
Checks & Counters
########
- Dark types: Krookodile, Hydreigon, Absol, Houndoom, Scrafty, Sableye
- Fire types: Chandelure, Entei, Darmanitan, Fletchinder Because they are immune to Will-O-Wisp
- Taunt users: Aerodactyl, Azelf
