Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
A Pokemon that has recently picked up in popularity with the Sharpedo-fiasco, Porygon2 is one of the best overall checks to either Sharpedo set in addition to tanking a lot of other neutral hits thrown its way. Recover separates Porygon2 from some of the other bulkier Pokemon in the tier, providing it with incredibly reliable recovery. Thunder Wave is used for speed control purposes, allowing Porygon2 to support more offensive teams and check Salazzle. Ice Beam paired with Tbolt is chosen over a STAB move as non-super effective moves coming from Porygon2 tend to not hit too hard. Foul Play is an alternative option that allows Porygon2 to check Pokemon like Swords Dance Feraligatr/Mega Abomasnow/Doublade.
Nidoqueen (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Earth Power
- Ice Beam
- Toxic
- Stealth Rock / Sludge Wave
This is pretty much Taunt queen but with toxic over taunt, which would still do as decently against the same targets Taunt covers. you toxic potential porygon2 switch ins, umbreons, milotics, cress, all that good stuff, then depending on who it is you stay in and pressure with strong hits or switch out and just stick with crippling them with a toxic.
Doublade (F) @ Eviolite
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 212 Atk / 44 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Toxic
- Shadow Claw
- Shadow Sneak
- Iron Head
P2 normally walls doublade all day long, so it's gonna switch in right away usually. So you just drop a toxic and shut down P2's ability to wall stuff.
SD Gatr is a menace. It just plows through its defensive checks. Superpower lures P2 and Bewear, but in return you have to give up on either Crunch or Ice Punch. Crunch kills Cress and Doub from full at +2, but seeing as Chester is everywhere, I'd assume Ice Punch would be the better choice of coverage.

Threw in some other calcs even though P2 is the topic. Felt like it was necesary to to show why SD Gatr is worth running. Oh, and all of the aforementioned mons are Shark checks, so yeah... Water spam spikes offense is looking mighty fine, if i do say so myself.
Another "just stuck Toxic into a mon P2 checks and call it a lure" mon...
Toxic completely undermines Porygon2's defensive capabilities. Swellow can cripple P2 on the switch with Toxic, and once P2 is intoxicated, Swellow can spam Boomburst because P2 will be forced to use Recover. This also hits Cresselia, Gigalith, Rhyperior and Diancie.

For the low ladders who love their spinners, here's a cheap trick on how to bust open a rubber ducky with your thighs. Forget sneaking toxicity on a Pokemon and waiting forever, Tsareena will throw down and do severe damage, KOing it with a bit of chip. One must still be wary Ghosts or its mortal nemesis Doublade if they and P2 are paired, so Trop Kick accordingly to not waste the Z-move while they try to block Spins.
