Explosion Bug

There seems to be something wrong with Explosion because I was facing someone and my Shaymin had Earth Powered his Heatern which survived with shuca Berry. My Shaymin dies from Life Orb and he misclicked and had used Explosion. Now since my Shaymin was dead, there was nothing to hit, but the Heatern didn't die from Explosion like it should have, it instead lived, which makes no sense since I know Explosion kills you even if theres nothing there to hit.

In-game if there is no target for explosion then you don't explode. This is not a bug.
