Dueling suns (A NU Warstory)

Hey all, this is my first Warstory! And my first real push into becoming more active here at Smogon and not just lurking >_>
Anyhow, Back on Sunday I though it would be fun if I tried to modify my UU sunny day team into a NU sunny day team, seeing as ½ of my team was already NU. After about my third battle in the NU tier I was the only person in the “find” tab. Needless to say, I jumped into action, challenging hamarill as he showed up in the tab.
*OVERLY DRAMATIC TIMPANI ROLL*

Rules: Evasion Clause, Freeze Clause, OHKO Clause, Sleep Clause, Soul Dew Clause, Timed Battle

hamarill sent out Meowdonna (lvl 100 Persian ?).
The Real Elmo sent out hazardous waste (lvl 100 Muk ?).

-100% VS
-100%

So a lead Persian, I remember those back from the old UU. I decide to just stay in, as Persian doesn’t particularly scare me. Best case, he tries to trick me an item, as most people forget that Muk has sticky hold. Worst case, I get hit with hypnosis, but Muk is used to being asleep for the entire match.

Persian used Hypnosis.
Muk fell asleep!
Muk is fast asleep!

-100% VS
-100%(sleeping)

Well I can’t say I’m surprised. No sun for me this turn….Switching time.

The Real Elmo switched in Leafeon (lvl 100 Leafeon ?).
Persian used Sunny Day.
The sun began to shine!
The sun continues to shine.

-100% VS
-100%(sleeping) ->
-100%

Now I’m surprised! I wasn’t expecting a sunny day Persian. This is great news for me, as I don’t have to worry about setting up sunny day now!
Leafeon is my safe switch in to just about everything,
It takes only about 65% damage from a LO Pinsirs x-scissor, so it easily stalls out most threats I encounter with protect/wish.

Persian used U-turn.
It's super effective!
Leafeon lost 25% of its health.
hamarill switched in Turbo (lvl 100 Flareon ?).
Leafeon used Yawn.
Flareon became drowsy!
The sun continues to shine.

-100% ->
-100% VS
-81%

I expect a switch so I yawn, just to keep things moving.
I love Leafeon, only 25% from U-turn? Awesome.

Leafeon used Protect.
Leafeon protected itself!
Flareon used Return.
Leafeon protected itself!
The sun continues to shine.
Flareon fell asleep!

-100% VS
-87%

Here I just protect to see what he’ll do; He stays in and falls asleep. Time to switch to sweeper #1!

The Real Elmo switched in Exeggutor (lvl 100 Exeggutor ?).
Flareon is fast asleep!
The sun continues to shine.

-100% VS
-87% ->
-100%

Rollin out the big guns.

hamarill switched in Static (lvl 100 Ampharos ?).
Exeggutor used Psychic.
Ampharos lost 50% of its health.
Ampharos's special defense was lowered.
Exeggutor lost 10% of its health.
The sun continues to shine.

-100% ->
-56% VS
-100%

Neat, an Ampharos! I really don’t see them enough for my liking *glances at username*.
The SpDef drop doesn’t really matter, as I would have just solarbeam’d it otherwise.
I’m surprised that it didn’t do less damage. He must be running a physically defensive amphy, which imo is a waste of a nice SpDef stat, but whatever.

Exeggutor used Psychic.
Ampharos lost 84% of its health.
hamarill's Static fainted.
(5-6)
Exeggutor lost 10% of its health.
The sun continues to shine.

-KO’d VS
-90%

First one down,

hamarill switched in Mothra (lvl 100 Venomoth ?).

-100% VS
-80%

This I admit had me a bit scared, as a timid choice scarf max speed Venomoth hits 459 speed, where my Exeggutor only hits 416 in the sun. Makes me want to add scarf Venomoth to one of my teams….

Exeggutor used Psychic.
It's super effective!
A critical hit!
Venomoth lost 405% of its health.
hamarill's Mothra fainted.
(4-6)
Exeggutor lost 10% of its health.
The sun continues to shine.

-KO’d VS
-70%

But I decide to push through, and thankfully he wasn’t running a scarf, as even with a modest nature he still hits 418 speed with a scarf. Time to see who’s next…..

hamarill switched in Eggplant (lvl 100 Exeggutor ?).

-100% VS
-70%

Well, I finally get to see his sunny day sweeper.
Now I just have to worry about who’s faster.

Exeggutor used Hidden Power.
It's super effective!
Exeggutor lost 151% of its health.
The Real Elmo's Exeggutor fainted.
(4-5)
Exeggutor lost 10% of its health.
The sun faded.

-90% VS
-KO’d

Well, either he won the speed tie or he’s running timid, but that doesn’t matter now ‘cause the sun’s gone!
Looking back I could have switched to Entei to take the hp-fire, but as they say, hindsight is 20/20.

The Real Elmo switched in Entei (lvl 100 Entei).
Entei is exerting its pressure!

-90% VS
-100%

NOW I switch in Entei. Here’s hoping for an easy KO

hamarill switched in Turbo (lvl 100 Flareon ?).
Entei used Flamethrower.
Flareon's Flash Fire raised its fire power!

-90% ->
-100%(Sleep) VS
-100%

Again with the hindsight :/ I have to admit it was a fairly obvious switch.
Entei can’t touch Flareon due to running Flamethrower/Solarbeam/Sunny day/Calm mind, so I guess I’ll be switching.

The Real Elmo switched in hazardous waste (lvl 100 Muk ?).
Flareon is fast asleep!

-100%(Sleep) VS
-100% ->
-100%(Sleep)

I figure that I’ll give Muk a shot a waking up, but I really don’t care, I’m just going to do an all-out Suicide run.

Flareon is fast asleep!
Muk woke up!
Muk used Sunny Day.
The sun began to shine!
The sun continues to shine.

-100%(Sleep) VS
-100%

Well that didn’t take long for Muk to wake up, thankgoodness.

Flareon is fast asleep!
Muk used Brick Break.
Flareon lost 43% of its health.
The sun continues to shine.

-57%(Sleep) VS
-100%

THAT did more than expected, Muk continues to surprise me as a NU pokemon that doesn’t get enough attention.

Flareon woke up!
Flareon used Flamethrower.
Muk lost 98% of its health.
Flareon lost 10% of its health.
Muk used Brick Break.
Flareon lost 42% of its health.
The sun continues to shine.

-5% VS
-2%

Still more surprises, Muk’s bulkiness is GODLY. It took a Life orb’d sunny day Flash fire’d flamethrower and STILL survived!
Time for Muk’s secret weapon ;)

Muk used Shadow Sneak.
Flareon lost 23% of its health.
hamarill's Turbo fainted.
(3-5)
The sun continues to shine.

-KO’d VS
-2%

I love Muk, Have I said that already? I should stop...

hamarill switched in Pango (lvl 100 Sandslash ?).

-100% VS
-2%

Muk used Shadow Sneak.
Sandslash lost 6% of its health.
Sandslash used Shadow Claw.
Muk lost 12% of its health.
The Real Elmo's hazardous waste fainted.
(3-4)
The sun continues to shine.

-100% VS
-KO’d

Goodnight Muk, you did your duty. Time for sweeper #2!

The Real Elmo switched in rumpelstiltskin (lvl 100 Shiftry ?).

-100% VS
-100%

I love running 2 sunny day sweepers w/ Explosion, when the sun hits its last turn, just go boom and send in your backup sunny day setter.

hamarill switched in Eggplant (lvl 100 Exeggutor ?).
Shiftry used Solarbeam.
It's not very effective...
Exeggutor lost 37% of its health.
Shiftry lost 10% of its health.
The sun continues to shine.

-100% ->
-63% VS
-90%

He switches in his Eggy to take the Solarbeam hit, which does a nice 37%.
It doesn’t bother me much. As my Shiftry out speeds even choice scarf Primeape when under the sun.

Shiftry used Dark Pulse.
It's super effective!
Exeggutor lost 133% of its health.
hamarill's Eggplant fainted.
(2-4)
Shiftry lost 10% of its health.
The sun continues to shine.

-KO’d VS
-80%

AND it carries Dark pulse for those annoying psychics that like to sponge special attacks *Grins wickedly*

hamarill switched in Pango (lvl 100 Sandslash ?).

-100% VS
-80%

Shiftry used Solarbeam.
It's super effective!
Sandslash lost 155% of its health.
hamarill's Pango fainted.
(1-4)
Shiftry lost 10% of its health.
The sun faded.

-KO’d VS
-70%

Too bad, the sun’s gone now :( but Victory is in sight.

hamarill switched in Meowdonna (lvl 100 Persian ?).
Persian used Fake Out.
Shiftry lost 37% of its health.
Shiftry flinched!

-100% VS
-33%

Shiftry’s pretty much dead, so I’ll just let him die, so long Shiftry.

Persian used U-turn.
It's super effective!
Shiftry lost 97% of its health.
The Real Elmo's rumpelstiltskin fainted.
(1-3)

-100% VS
-KO’d

And there he goes….

The Real Elmo switched in Armaldo (lvl 100 Armaldo ?).

-100% VS

Just sendin in Armaldo to try to get off an attack or Two

Persian used Hypnosis.
Armaldo fell asleep!
Armaldo is fast asleep!

-100% VS
-100%(Sleep)

But I’m more than happy to have him absorbing the sleep, removing the threat of sleep from another of my pokemon.

The Real Elmo switched in Leafeon (lvl 100 Leafeon ?).
Persian used U-turn.
It's super effective!
Leafeon lost 23% of its health.

-100% VS
-100%(Sleep) ->
-70%

Yet again, Leafeon shows that it can take a super effective hit like it was nothing.

Persian used U-turn.
It's super effective!
Leafeon lost 26% of its health.
Leafeon used Yawn.
Persian became drowsy!

-100% VS
-50%

Here I’m just playing it safe, as more than once my overconfidence has cost me the match.
Just putting him to sleep then I’ll finish him off.

Persian used U-turn.
It's super effective!
Leafeon lost 25% of its health.
Leafeon used Wish.
Leafeon made a wish!
Persian fell asleep!

-100%(Sleep) VS
-31%

Persian is fast asleep!
Leafeon used Leaf Blade.
Persian lost 60% of its health.
The wish came true!
Leafeon restored 50% of its health.

-40%(Sleep) VS
-87%

Persian is fast asleep!
Leafeon used Leaf Blade.
Persian lost 67% of its health.
hamarill's Meowdonna fainted.

Props:
Muk, for being so darn bulky
Leafeon, same as Muk
NO ENTRY HAZARDS

Slops:
Using flamethrower with Entei when I should’ve just used Sunny day
Armaldo, for doing nothing except absorbing a status

As I said at the start, this IS my first warstory so if anything can be improved please tell me, as I hope to write many more.

I feel really bad saying it but, it's not that great. However, I do see that you have some creativity and that's great! Don't be discouraged if your first warstory wasn't.....epic per say. I posted my first warstory awhile ago and it bombed, but it gave me a chance to see comments on how to write a better one next time (based on the fail that is my first warstory...that will be awhile lol). But play more, don't be discouraged by a lack luster first attempt, and you WILL get better.

Also, work more on comments ;) they make a world of difference.

Thanks BonDog, I did/do need to add more comments...but that's ok, I'm looking at this as more of a learning Experience anyways.
The more you fail, the more you learn, the more you succeed :)

Exactly right. By the way, props on using Muk. I just love to see him on sunny day teams.

You're going to be bogged down with the standard "More comments" that people often post, but in reality it was a plain battle. Most of the time it was just you sweeping under the sun. Although it is fun to do in a battle, it's not so fun to read about.

Maybe next time find a deeper battle?

Usually teams based on sun/rain have quick battles.

i agree with most, the battle was just plain sweeping which isnt intresting at all.

but the comments were so-so

5/10,i hope to see a better warstory in the future!

Frankly, if the battle had been closer this warstory might not have been so boring. As it stands, though, the battle itself wasn't good enough to keep me interested, and I found myself not caring halfway through the battle.

Props for using Muk, though.

To be fair it is NU and extremely good battles are very hard to come by. I thought it was a good first attempt but when you get a better battle I think you should include some more insight into your prediction and overall strategy and thought process, however this may be easier when against an opponent who really makes you work for the win.

locopoke

Banned deucer.
The comments are lacking, but you can't have good comments when there isn't anything to comment on. This battle was just "set up sun and sweep" which isn't really the type of battle that you warstory. Not very interesting to read.

Meh, this was really bad, commentary sucked in general - it was mostly "I kill him, he kills me, who's faster, Muk is epic." To be honest I stopped reading when Shiftry died...
