CLASSIC I

Specific Rules
  • The tournament will be Best of Three of USUM BSS, ORAS BSS, GBU Singles. Single Elimination
  • Both players must agree on the format for the first game. If an agreement is not met, the first format will be USUM BSS. The loser of the first game gets to pick the format for the second game.
  • Matches are to be played on Pokemon Showdown/SmogTours
  • Replays must be saved and POSTED. Matches without a replay will not count as completed. If you don't want to risk forgetting to save replays play on Smogtours as it's automatic there.
  • In an event of a timeout, the player who times out will lose that game unless the opponent grants a rematch. This holds true even for a disconnect, due to being unable to know which three Pokemon have been selected at team preview. Consequently, players do not need to send in their teams to a TD.
  • Activity calls and coinflips will be done by myself and the pick command on Pokemon Showdown respectively.

Simulator Glitches: Any battle mechanics not properly implemented in the simulator used for a tournament battle are fair game, unless explicitly banned by that tournament's rules. Illegal movesets that are not restricted by the simulator fall into this category as well. However, this does not include faulty tier scripts; for example, if there was a bug in the BW OU tier script that allowed you to use Drizzle and Swift Swim on the same team, taking advantage of this would result in disqualification in that battle. If a game breaking glitch is discovered, we will make a blanket tournament ban on that glitch via an announcement in the Tournaments forum until it is fixed.

Ghosting: The player in a tournament battle should be the one making their own decisions. Do not tell a player what move to make in a tournament battle (i.e. do not "ghost" them), and do not make your moves based on another person's suggestions. If we are made aware that someone playing a tournament battle is making some of their moves based mainly on the suggestions of someone else, punishments may be handed out to both parties involved.

Identity: Pretending to be another player in relation to a tournament battle is strictly prohibited. Do not try to impersonate or play as another player. This applies to the use of alts as well. Any player who breaks this will be disqualified and may be subject to further punishment.

Rule Breaking: If a player breaks a rule during a battle, they are disqualified from that particular battle. If it was a single battle in a series, they will still have the opportunity to play the rest of the series.

Draws: If a battle ends in a draw in an elimination tournament or another tournament format that is unable to handle draws, there should be a rematch between the players with the option for both players to change teams.

Forfeiting: A player may forfeit their battle during or after the battle, as long as the result has not been confirmed by the host. If a player forfeits before a battle commences in the first round of a tournament, they are eligible for substitution if appropriate. We highly recommend that you do not forfeit your tournament battles just because you got lucky, but we do not enforce this.

Host / Tournament Director Decisions: The host may make a judgment call on the outcome of a battle with a disputed result, even if one player has broken the rules. If you believe the host has made an unjust decision, you may inform the Tournament Director responsible for the tournament of the situation and request that they make a final call on it.

Sportsmanship: If a player displays exceedingly poor sportsmanship before, during, or after a tournament battle, they may be disqualified or otherwise punished.

Round 1 ends Sunday June 3, 11:59 PM EST. You can still sign up as a sub by posting "in" below.

SSS Tier (In a league of their own.)
greilmercenary9 - Won the maiden BSSLT title in spectacular fashion by muscling through a total of 10 games in the semifinal and finals. Greil is truly a beast and an equal to chemcoop in USUM BSS.
chemcoop - The greatest BSS player to have ever lived on the planet of SMOGON-BSS-18, this man is easily SSS Tier in all formats except Challenge Cup and Hackmons Cup.

SS Tier (The finest players you can find in BSS Classic.)
Megazard - Despite his underwhelming performance this year and USUM in general, Megazard was the best GBU player in BSPL-I and was the best player on one of the teams in BSPL-II. Only a fool would put him below SS Tier.
Jmal98 - The 2017 Champ has yet to find to his form in 2018. He was undefeated during ORAS in BSPL-1. However, if he gets eliminated once again in the early rounds in this tournament then I have no choice but to put him in the C Tier next time.
Jhon - Although no longer the threat he was once, senpai is still way too much to handle for your average BSS player. Despite his lack of participation in this year's circuit, he can play all three BSS formats fairly well. This tournament will serve as a good "warm-up" event for senpai as he prepares for the upcoming BSPL.
GroudonEmpire - The complete package. GE has every qualities of a top BSS player: 1. Vast knowledge of every BSS meta on both cart and PS. 2. Enough skills to be Invitational Champion. 3. Good voice. The Goddess of RNG find this player too op therefore robbing him of his time to play in tours (hence the limited number of showings in BSPL and in tours).

S Tier (Extremely good players for this Classic.)
Psynergy - The God of UU is one of the very few players who has made an appearance in nearly every tour since his debut back in 2015 and has never performed poorly despite the ever-changing meta across three generations. Experience will be the key to his success in this Classic.
NOVED - NOVED THE GODSEND IS BACK! Even though he has never won a singles title in Battle Spot ever, NOVED is still a major contender on the 2018 circuit. There's no need to question his skills either as he was the runner up of last year's Invitationals, ACE player of the CAVs in BSPL-II and manager of the Helmets in BSPL-I.
cant say - My coach for ORAS during BSPL-I along with kami. Megazard's assistant coach for GBU also during BSPL-I. The lack of experience is not an excuse here for the OZ overlord and I believe he has what it takes to win the whole thing.
11oyd - OZ newcomer of the year who has succeeded legendary OZ players such as ethan06, Lego sensei, and my former manager DK before him. 11oyd apparently has experience with both GBU and ORAS so he should do very well here.

J Tier (Japan All-Stars)
DragonWhale - BSSC would not be possible without him, our legendary host: DW senpai. He has performed better during the earlier tournaments like the SM kick-off tour, and the 1st BSSC seasonal.
hzhz - HZ has a relatively easy time in tournaments until the later stages where he might struggle against the top-top players. However we don't know his experience with ORAS/GBU so there may be surprises down the road.
Hastar - Slightly below HZ-tier Tier.
Ei Hydreslash - Ei failed to make the cut in BSSLT so who knows how he will do vs DW in first round.

AAA Tier (Very good players.)
Arifeen - Recognised him from the first BSPL where he played GBU and did very well. Kinda disappeared in ORAS/SM but not to be underestimated.
Mishimono - Better than Demantoid in BSS but worse than Demantoid in BSD.
Solerme - Would put him higher but ORAS was a bad experience for our Italian thanks to BSPL-I but I really hope he can regain confidence here and bring back his glory days.
marilli - Extremely solid at BSD but has good performance in other formats/singles as well.

X Tier (Probably belong in higher tiers.)
Demantoid - BEST doubles player by far but this is BSS Classic and not BSD Classic bruh.
The Squash - Impress me by beating Jhon senpai.
Moose And Goose - How did meese the memer get a BYE first round? :sogood:
Puff Killa - A player with consistent showings in most tours, should do well BUT unfortunately he's first round opp is GOATonEmpire.

N Tier (New rising players for the upcoming BSPL.)
Mikaav - Apparently he is cant say's apprentice. I've played him a few times he is good.
london13 - Good in other tiers/forgot how good he is in BSS.
Darkinium - DEBUT IN BSSC. Make this count.
Devilican - Ika's potential w/ memes: Magikarp. Ika's potential w/o memes: Gyarados. Do it for your tutor (Solerme).

Sorry Tier (People who I'm forgetting.)
Mighty Rising Ace - Got to 1500 on PS several times in USUM BSS. No idea on ORAS/GBU.
nintendogeniuses - Too much salt/lack of confidence but OK player with a good amount of RNG.
The rest

I liked the post by default and then I read my description at the bottom and proceeded to unlike. Bobo, you need a lesson in the power of memes and so I shall run the most disgusting memes and cheese the entirety of this tournament. Be prepared for evasion boosting, for random mons, for hax, for random items and moves that make no sense other than in 1/2 specific situations. This first clash may feature my signature pokemon as well.

Requesting DW senpai to sub me in for an opportunity to play my former BSPL manager.
I know its unfair to do this in the last minute so only if cant say agrees to play.
I'm mostly free during the weekend and we have similar timezones (GMT+8 vs GMT+10), so it should work.
