Other Metagames ~Balanced Hackmons Anti-Meta, Peaked <1590~

So I was doing quite alright in OU, but I recently grew bored of it, so I moved to Balanced Hackmons. I did all I could to build a team that can counter the most common mons in this meta (which is something everyone should do), so I started with Download Primal Groudon. This team brought me some height in the ladder, but now I am currently in a tilt (due to either dumb mistakes or Pokemon and playstyles that countered my team, but oh well shit happens).

Deoxys-Speed @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt
- Dark Void
- Pursuit

Groudon @ Red Orb
Ability: Download
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spe
Adamant Nature
- V-create
- Thousand Arrows
- U-turn
- Synthesis

Tyranitar-Mega @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 88 HP / 252 Atk / 168 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Diamond Storm
- Knock Off
- Sacred Fire
- Shift Gear

Rayquaza-Mega @ Leftovers << hey, THINK before you use this set. hint hint, it sucks
Ability: Primordial Sea
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Steam Eruption
- Oblivion Wing
- Tail Glow
- Infestation

Registeel @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Defog
- U-turn
- Aromatherapy
- Recover

Kyurem-Black @ Icicle Plate
Ability: Refrigerate
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Atk / 16 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Fake Out
- Extreme Speed
- Bolt Strike
- King's Shield

But I need a lead first. And my most preferred option is...

Deoxys-Speed @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt
- Dark Void
- Pursuit
  • With Mold Breaker and a lack of Sleep Clause, Deoxys can spam Dark Void. Also he can set up rocks without fear of Magic Bounce :)
  • Chesto Berry seems a little odd, but I believe it is better than the Safety Goggles, because I see more Dark Void users.
  • Taunt is gr8 for trolling other hazard setters so they can't do shit
  • dicks out for dark void
  • Pursuit swats Shedinjas (needs Mold Breaker, of course).
<< Primal Groudon reminds me SO MUCH of this badass.

Groudon @ Red Orb
Ability: Download
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spe
Adamant Nature
- V-create
- Thousand Arrows
- U-turn
- Synthesis
  • Red Orb turns Groudon into Primal Groudon.
  • Download can be very beneficial in some situations when it provides Groudon a sweet Attack boost.
  • EVs maximize strength and bulk (8 Spe outspeeds opposing P-Groudons)
  • V-create is op; it can really screw the opponent over with its sheer power.
  • Thousand Arrows is its other STAB and has the great ability to hit Flying-types and Levitate users.
  • U-turn maintains momentum.
  • Synthesis recovers three-fourths of P-Groudon's HP.

Despite Mattrex's Primal Groudon's awesomness, Mega Rayquaza can stop it. It's true that Mega Rayquaza cannot really switch into P-Groudon without taking major damage, but P-Groudon can't really switch in Mega Rayquaza either. Poison Heal Mega Tyranitar worked well as a solution for Mega Rayquazas without Fighting-type coverage.

Tyranitar-Mega @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 88 HP / 252 Atk / 168 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Diamond Storm
- Knock Off
- Sacred Fire
- Shift Gear
  • Poison Heal and Toxic Orb bring in fantastic passive recovery, as well as immunity to status effects.
  • EVs and nature maintain as much bulk and power as possible, while still enabling Mega Tyranitar to outspeed max Speed base 150s after a Shift Gear boost.
  • Diamond Storm and Knock Off are mandatory STABs.
  • Sacred Fire destroys Steel-types.
  • Shift Gear can enable Mega Tyranitar to sweep.

Now... so far, a major threat to my current Pokemon is opposing Primal Groudon. I...well (sigh) tried to make my own custom Mega Rayquaza set to counter it. Here it is.

Rayquaza-Mega @ Leftovers
Ability: Primordial Sea
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Steam Eruption
- Oblivion Wing
- Tail Glow
- Infestation
  • Note: I no longer use this set, because I very, very rarely see other Primal Groudons. So I used a Tail Glow + Gale Wings set, which made Mega Rayquaza my current MVP.
  • Leftovers = passive recovery
  • Steam Eruption kills Primal Groudon and other plebby Ground-types
  • Tail Glow boosts Mega Rayquaza's SpA
  • One Infestation a day keeps the Shedinja away
With a Flying-type in my team, I needed Defog support. Registeel is a great choice, and it brings utility to the table. More importantly, it can temporarily stop -ate users and pivot out of them.

Registeel @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Defog
- U-turn
- Aromatherapy
- Recover
  • Rocky Helmet teaches Endavor Shedinjas a lesson and punishes other physical attackers.
  • Magic Bounce usually makes Regi a great switch-in defensive Pokemon.
  • It already resists common physical attacks, so the EVs are used for special bulk. 0 Spe IVs makes sure it always moves last and pivots with U-turn.
  • Defog removes hazards.
  • U-turn conserves momentum.
  • Aromatherapy cures status aliments (I never really use it though. I'm thinking of replacing it with another move.).
  • Recover recovers.

Almost there! I just need a fast attacker. Kyurem-B is my -ate user of choice, because I needed a mon that can revenge kill Mega Rayquazas that Mega Tyranitar can't handle (those that either have Fighting-type moves, Contrary, or both).

Kyurem-Black @ Icicle Plate
Ability: Refrigerate
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Atk / 16 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Fake Out
- Extreme Speed
- Bolt Strike
- King's Shield
  • Refriger8 with Icicle Pl8 is gr8.
  • The EVs not only maximize bulk and power, but also enables Kyurem-Black to switch in Stealth Rocks five times.
  • FakeSpeed is the best. nuff said
  • Bolt Strike handles Primal Kyogre, which I find to be very disastrous to my team.
  • King's Shield can make Kyurem-B survive most physical attacks that would otherwise kill him.

Replays:
The replays were fukken lit, but there were some losses. rip
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/balancedhackmons-446235180 not a lot happens
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/balancedhackmons-446311343 mangum d0ng, you bastard XD
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/balancedhackmons-446353531 I was rekt by the Mega Latias and Mega Tyranitar army. btw its fun to sacrifice Primordial Sea rayquaza, because of how useless he is

Weaknesses:
I'm still new to this team, so I don't know a lot about it. But I have noticed some weaknesses...
-Primal Kyogre
-Cancerous Baton Pass users (that means you mangum d0ng)
-aaand...that's it for now. I will know more in the future.

Thanks, guys. Appreciate your help.

Hi toenails_sauce :)
Well, quite nice team, I have just a couple of suggestions.

Firstly I would suggest you to use Shift Gear on Primal Groudon instead of using U-turn, because it turns Groudon even more threatning and allows you to outspeed faster threats like MMY and Gengar after 1 single Shift Gear and it boosts your Attack in case Download raises Sp.Attack. And U-Turn seems less useful on don comparing to Shift Gear.

If you still have problems against other Primal Groudons or the Imposter Chansey transformed on yours (which 99% of teams have) you can try Fur Coat Giratina. It walls completely the V-create or Thousand Arrows and you can use Whirlwind. This Giratina helps you to deal with Contrary MMX which seems to be a threat as well, since it runs V-create+Superpower combo that can hit hard your team.
Ground Coverage Diancie is a threat as well, as it hits supereffectively 5 pokémons and beats Deoxys with Fake+Espeed, so i would suggest using a defensive Soundproof Groudon, in order to stop Boomburst spam, or even Levitate Registeel, that works preety good.

Well, this is just my opinion, as i said is a nice team, just needs a few changes and you can make it even better, and i wish you the best luck with it :)
Hope I helped.

Thanks for the help! I find Shift Gear is a lot more useful on Primal Groudon. But because I can't fit Fur Coat Giratina on my team, I chose to replace Registeel with Soundproof Arceus-Ground. I chose Arceus-Ground over normal Groudon, because the latter has much lower special bulk, which makes it vulnerable to Techno Blast.

Wait a minute... I can't use any ability other than Multitype on Arceus-Groud. Maybe I'm gonna stick with Soundproof Groudon.

Thanks and have a nice day!

You're welcome toenails_sauce! I'm glad I could help :)

Shift Gear don is really a beast xd And yes, we can't change the Arceus type without the plate+Multitype :( but Soundproof don is really good.

Good luck with your team, and if you need something more, just ask.
Have a nice day! :)
