All gems are unreleased, other then Normal Gem in Gen 6.
Also, the Normal-gem only provides a 30% boost instead of a 50% boost now.
Is there a way of stealing someone else's name on Pokemon Showdown? I want the name "Air" and I assume that the owner of the name isn't active anymore. If a mod could change the password or something if it's not active that would be great

That is correct, you have to be of rank % or higher to be allowed this privilege, even then, it is very hard to prove that an alt is inactive enough to have it reset. However, an activity tracker is on Zarel's to-do list and this will be a way of easily finding out if an alt is inactive or not, which may mean that we will allow resetting of alts more often! (I don't want to get your hopes up though, it isn't my call).

You're missing the point, pretty much everybody wants a name that is already taken, as Darnell said, if we do it for one person, everybody will come flocking wanting new names! It just wouldn't be easy unlocking thousands of new names.
No I mean an automatic system. example If an account is not logged into for 2 years, the system will let a new person use that name and set their password to it. I'm not saying someone has to look at everyones accounts by hand or takes requests for less used accounts, it's just something to clean up old old old accounts someone forgot about, were used for a tournament/tier contest or likely doesn't care about and letting others take the names.
This could lead to impersonation.
A system similar to the one Petrico94 described has been discussed before but I am not aware of what became of that discussion. As it stands, old names are only cleared in extreme circumstances, and this has not been done in a long time. The only examples I can think of are prominent Smogon users whose names were taken very early, and even then only Jellicent comes to mind.

If some spammy spectators join my battle (e.g. showderp) and I type /modchat + to mute them all, can the other battler type something to un-mute them? In which case I guess I would have to ignore each spec individually or is there an option I can enable on my end (i.e. that the other battler can't turn off) to ignore all spectators? I had thought there was a checkbox for that somewhere but I can't seem to find it.
Go on your settings (next to your name) and check the box that says "Ignore Spectators". Note that this box will only be available while you're in your battle room.

The banned phrases are mostly shock/porn sites, phrases associated with spammers, and phrases other ROs have asked me to ban. I'm not at my computer right now so I can't go much further into detail, and I probably won't anyway unless you have a good reason for asking, but send me a pm here or on irc and I might get back to you with further details if I feel your reasoning is valid enough
maybe create a command that links to a list of all banned phrases? Preferably PMs the user?
When I use the download version there isn't any background music even though I don't mute it. The web version still works fine. Any help ?
