Approved by Nayrz, original ideia taken from here This thread, like the title suggest, is aimed to let everyone post their very own Viability Ranking. Feel free to post them in any way, be it just from S to B ranks or going all the way down to D ranks, ordered or unordered within the tiers, etc. Explanations for each rank aren't required, but of course very welcome!
Remember, this is NOT the Metagame Discussion or the official Viability Ranking thread, you should only post your own Viability Ranking here.
The posts so far are nowhere near what the OP of this thread is aiming for and have been cleared accordingly. I've gone ahead and made my own example to demonstrate the kind of discussion we're looking to get out of this thread.
S Rank
In context of SS Ubers, S Rank Pokemon are those that are difficult to build a team without, be it opportunity cost or the unique utility they provide. Calyrex-SR is the most potent offensive Pokemon Ubers has seen in a while, operating somewhere between Deoxys-A in ADV and Mega Rayquaza in ORAS. While it has little defensive utility and somewhat limited opportunity to switch in, it also lacks pretty much any reactive counter-play. Dynamax in combination with a setup turn and other techs even allows it to bypass Yveltal without giving up any real offensive potency, and RK can be invalidated by self-setting Psychic Terrain, use of a Focus Sash, or both. Yveltal's usage naturally follows, considering that even though Calyrex-SR can situationally defeat it, it remains by far the best counter-play available. Yveltal is also helped by being jam-packed with utility moves and an offensive terror in its own right with Life Orb sets lacking real reactive counter-play.
A Rank
For the purposes of this ranking I've limited A Rank to Pokemon that are frequently utilized in the builder as a result of some combination of role compression, beatstick utility, and potency in the current metagame. Pokemon like Necrozma-DM and Zygarde-C have excellent Dynamax potential, are difficult to KO, and check several other important Pokemon. Eternatus and Zacian-C, despite not being able to Dynamax, can still serve as solid checks to a variety of the big threats and can be very offensively potent in their own right. Pokemon like Kyogre and Xerneas also fit this category, being difficult for certain teams to check and serving similar beatstick offensive functions. In a tier with so many offensive threats, set up sweepers, and even techs like Webs, Ditto is inevitably very functional as both an anti Hyper Offense and an anti Stall tool.
B Rank
Pokemon here in B Rank are often used to round out squads or provide a specific piece of important utility. With Heavy Duty boots or just good hazard control, Ho-Oh can be difficult to KO, simultaneously serving as a soft check to several offensive Pokemon and faring well in other matchups as well. Zekrom is very offensively inclined and potentially difficult to check, but is not necessarily as easy to slap onto a team as the offensive beatsticks in A Rank. Pokemon like Lugia, Groudon, Marshadow, and Giratina-O can offer hazard/anti hazard support and check several offensive threats in their own right. Pokemon like Excadrill or Regieleki offer spin support and other utility, and Pokemon like Tyranitar or Ferrothorn can soft check important offensive Pokemon while offering hazard or other utility. Mew and Shuckle seem to be some of the more consistent hazard leads.
C Rank
In C Rank I've put some of the remaining Pokemon I've seen other players utilize here and there, but I'm not particularly fond of as of yet. Offensive dragons like Dialga, Palkia, and Reshiram are all potentially difficult to switch into, may soft check a few threats, and can be annoying when Dynamaxed. Terrakion, Landorus-T, and Cloyster are hazard Pokemon with a few other unique utilities. Defensive Pokemon like Quagsire, Skarmory, and Blissey can check big threats, but can fall to Dynamax or specific techs, and must try to survive in a metagame that simply isn't reactively inclined.
The S and A ranks are ordered by order of their viability.
S+ rank:
is a really good mon in both offensive and defensive support, knock off is a useful move on defensive sets and I think it helps in longterm matchups, while life orb variants hits really hard on most balanced teams, it often forces the opposing team to switch during dynamax turns so it is really nice in Spikes HO.
hits hard despite its only coverage move being Draining Kiss, it can also run choice items with trick so, thats good.
S rank:
is as good as yveltal speaking of defensive support, reason being its knock off + rocks toolset, it is guaranteed that you get to knock an item on switch, if you get to knock Yveltal or Ho-Oh 's boots then it gets crippled by stealth rock damages.
can act as a win condition with its dragon dance variants or a defensive support (glare/haze/coil/...).
has a really good staying power, it can set toxic tspikes up which is good if the opposing team doesnt have poison type pokemon, Eternatus also switches on scarf Kyogre and can PP stall Ho-Oh's sacred fire AND defog. Really useful mon.
god.
Probably one of the best pokemon comes with the DLC his capacity to check Calyrex S the most dangerous breaker in the metagame is essential. The Heavy Duty Boots added a defensive set, but don’t forget the Dynamax in particularly an offensive set with Max Fly dealing HUGE damage.
Calyrex-S
What I can say about it ... probably the best breaker in the Pokemon history. Huge speed, huge special attack, good movepool. Notice his bad defensive type being OHKO by every Dark, Ghost priority.
RANK A+
Necrozma-Dusk
Great defensive pokemon, access to Stealth Rock and a recovery move is always good. Good check at Xerneas, Zacian without Crunch and others.
Eternatus
Eternatus is really good, his good dragon poison type gives important resistance. Recover and Pressure can PP stall accelerate annoying match.
RANK A
Well the Pokemon in this rank is really good but her weakness are really difficult like Zacian stopped by Quagsire or Kyogre by Eternatus/Dialga Palkia but don’t underestimate him.
RANK A-
In rank A- the pokemon are a great support and good response at specific pokemon.
RANK B
RANK C
(Lost my motivation to write something at the end)
This list will be based off the current meta with Dynamax legal which means my opinions on this could and probably will change depending on the result, but here's my current rough idea of a vr with probably at least something missing because I forgot. Not really ordered overall but a few things might be depending on how big the ranks are.
S Tier:
No Surprise with this one, the most threatening Pokemon overall imo because it's very hard to reliably even check, let alone counter which I don't think is possible or at least requires something extremely unorthodox we haven't found out yet. Sub NP sets are really good and even if it faces snarl sucker punch yveltal winning a 50/50 can just win a game. Sub NP's power level with dmax is insane, and specs is also really good and doesn't even have to dmax a lot of the time, just plays a good long game after tricking something.
Has to follow right around Calyrex, as it's the best Pokemon that can also check Calyrex. Sp.def sets are very solid and can check quite a few things but with the main one being Calyrex. Offensive Yveltal is also a nightmare, just is hard to fit on a team because it weakens the team against Calyrex. It has very few counters, and basically nothing that reliably switches in that is regularly used.
Necrozma-DM might be a little high here, but I think it's arguably deserved. It checks Zacian-C and Xerneas pretty well which are two of the most threatening sweepers right now. On offense Dragon Dance sets are really good also, even defensive dd which I think is really solid if it has the right support.
A+ Tier:
Zacian-C took a bit hit with DLC 2, with Calyrex being the newer insanely fast and strong attacker. It's still insanely strong though and can break a lot of Pokemon by itself. Assurance can cach Necrozma, Play Rough can catch Zygarde, Wild Charge for Ho-oh, etc. Its coverage is solid and it can break big holes in teams, it's just a little worse than its previous #1 status imo.
Zygarde-C is insane. It literally doesn't die to any hits ever, and has multiple good sets to run. Defensive coil or haze can shut down opposing physical threats, and dd dtail is really hard to deal with in any mu without some weird Pokemon like tapu bulu or whimsicott reliably. I think Zygarde honestly could be higher because it's that good imo, but high A+ looks good for it.
Kyogre is a little bit below the #1 status it was thought to maybe return to, but it's still really solid, just is manageable. Eternatus can take on choice scarf sets well, and Pokemon like gastrodon and shedinja have rose up as well, alongside blissey and ferro which are around to wall. With webs it's still super strong with specs. Scarf is probably the most used set just because it's very good at cleaning games and pressuring offense, and cm is really threatening and with rest it can beat normal checks like etern or non-confide blissey (which they should all run imo)
I still think Eternatus is amaizing, just also took a fall from its place fighting for #1 with Zacian. Calyrex just existing puts this thing down quite a bit, and in a dynamax meta it can get broken through by a lot of solid Pokemon. It still does its thing though where it walls a lot of things just by existing and pressure being really good, so it didn't take a huge drop just a few spots down imo.
With dynamax around, there's very little stopping Xerneas from winning games. Max lightning can set its own terrain and power up the move even further to allow it to OHKO stuff like Zacian-C which regular thunder can't do. Necrozma-DM even while dynamaxed can be 2hko'd, so it's just a monster rn. Defensive is also solid for checking stuff like Zygarde and Yveltal.
A Tier:
Zekrom seems to be underrated, but I think really highly of it rn. The dual stab is amazing and has very few switchins if any reliably at all, maybe stuff like eq Necrozma-Dm but that's it tbh. Finding opportunities to set up isn't always easy when all the Pokemon above can try and stop it by just hitting it really hard, but it's still incredibly good imo.
Groudon has very limited switchins with dynamax, since life orb sd can just tear through a lot of common balances.Has to be weary of a few Pokemon above like Calyrex and Kyogre, but still is really solid as a sort of anti-meta offensive mon with sd. Rocks defensive is alright, just misses out on a big part of what makes groudon amazing rn which is the offense it has.
Ho-oh is a very solid defensive pivot, being able to take on a ton of things as a soft check and phazing a lot. It's not a super offensive mon or a hard counter to much, but a great defogger, status spreader, and pivot.
A- Tier: Outside of the top mons it gets a lot harder to rank, but I'll try and roughly get a feel for stuff past this point with small explanations
Marshadow is still a very strong offensive Pokemon, and with dynamax being able to raise its attack or lower the opponents defense it can work really well as a dynamax breaker or just a normal one that applies a ton of pressure to teams. Life orb sets are a bit weaker because of Zygarde and ho-oh but still are close to as strong as they were previously imo. Staying in the same rank as before but overall the power level is higher above it.
Just as good a wall as ever right now, maybe even better with the addition of heavy-duty-boots, but the dynamax meta hurts it. Pokemon like xerneas can just avoid being phazed out by dynamaxing and beat it, but it's overall still really solid and can do most of the same things it did before just without losing multiscale to hazards.
Sadly, this pink blob is the best of all of them. In a dynamax meta it's always super good, and stops a lot of sweeps by itself. Will likely get a lot worse if dmax goes, but it's good now.
B+ Tier:
Ferrothorn is just as annoying as ever, beating Kyogre, xerneas lacking focus blast, Necrozma-DM, and a lot of passive things. It sets spikes while doing this, spams leech for recovery, and can knock off items. A general annoyance that can be dealt with but is a good support mon.
Blissey is still a really good fat mon, but a drop from its old ranking. It has new targets to check though, being Xerneas and Kyogre which are big things to beat. Solid wall with status and reliable recovery, just a tiny bit worse with everything being able to dynamax and improve their offensive capabilities.
In theory, dd reshiram is a super huge threat. It is able to bait counters like blissey and ho-oh by smacking them with a physical attack, and just overall its typing is always gonna be solid. Special sets are still okay, and scarf sets can tech shadow ball on scarf for Calyrex Shadow. Might be a little high since I don't have much experience with it, but it seems really threatening and takes a lot of really good pivoting to just stall out dynamax.
Drop from its previous A rank spot, but it still has a place even with all the power creep and good mons like groudon, kyogre, and zygarde coming to beat it. It checks calyrex alright while setting rocks and spreading twave, so it's solid as a hazard setter. It also is probably the most viable "counter" to offensive yveltal, so it's pretty solid, just lost a lot more than it gained with dlc. B Tier:
Outclassed by calylrex, but still can do things in the meta. Hurricane with nasty plot can boost its speed and special attack after dynamaxing, so it's a threat, just hard to justify using over Calyrex.
Pretty underwhelming compared to what was expected, but might still be a little unexplored. With everything dynamaxing, ray just doesn't have the power level a lot of the time without life orb which it arguably needs, then rocks are an issue. It's still good, just a bit worse than stuff above.
Basically worse blissey but still really bulky, it just can't hold the item which hurts a lot rn when blissey needs stuff like boots or umbrella.
Good Kyogre check, strong offensive mon, just help back by its lack of reliable recovery outside rest for checking ogre and its speed tier being below a lot of things like etern with some investment, zacian, calyrex, marshadow, boosted yveltal and xerneas, etc.
How hard this thing fell was unexpected, because going into dlc 2 I thought it would get better. The existence of Necrozma dusk mane already held it back, now that thing has insane usage and can dynamax alongside it to just always beat it. Zacian can still beat it, and it finds very few opportunities to set up rn. I still think if paired with something like zacian and hazards it can win, but it too a huge hit from its dominance in dlc 1.
Completely outclassed by Calyrex Shadow offensively for the most part, aside from maybe hitting with a stronger fairy move on ghost resists. Scarf can possibly catch Calyrex off guard though, and defensive is probably a bit better than before because status is really annoying in longer games which happen a lot now. Huge fall from before, but it's usable.
Might be a little high, but it still exists as a rapid spinner and maybe a dmax sweeper, but it took a massive hit with Zygarde, Kyogre, and Groudon. Probably better for spin support but still seems alright.
B- Tier:
Fairly good wall rn, one of the best Kyogre checks while just being fat and spreading burns + preventing set up with clear smog.
Other fat water ground, checking another huge threat in Zacian-C, solid but a lot worse than before.
Still as strong as ever, just it's harder than ever to abuse slow teams since a lot aren't that slow anymore
Rain still seems alright because of Kyogre support, so this mon can still work. Kingdra is probably the best rain sweeper imo just because of its dual stab letting it hit stuff like palkia, etern, and zygarde which stuff like drednaw cannot.
This mon is super bulky, and is surprisingly hard to break. Iron defense body press with leech seed from my experience is solid, and sd on trick room is also really good if set up properly. Good mon that might still have more room to rise.
Alright mon, can sneak Calyrex, check groudon which not many things can do, can defog, and is just average, but has a few things going for it. Hard to rank the giratina's so this is mostly a guess.
Really fat, just extremely passive and can be easily abused. Still a good wall, but the existence of most of the top tier mons hurts it a lot.
Solid dmax abuser, alright rocks lead, pretty good Pokemon overall.
Underused, but seems like it could be similar to Landorus-T with its strength level, but it has beast boost and strong coverage to hit a large portion of the meta.
Haven't seen screens do much yet but this may be another case of it taking a while to show up, but this can still somewhat pressure Calyrex while setting up screens, so it's still alright.
Niche but this might honestly be low for it. Checking Xerneas, Kyogre, Zygarde, and some Zacian along with other things is pretty valuable so I think it's solid. C+ Tier:
Fell off from its old spot, but scarf and band still have a niche, just not a great one.
Fell off from its old spot, but scarf and band still have a niche, just not a great one.
Rain still seems alright because of Kyogre support, so this mon can still work. Gmax move is always good for free rocks, and its coverage is solid.
A bit of a drop just because of the higher power level, but this mon might still be good. It can take on zygarde and kind of kyogre with sub roost type sets and still can do its standard big damage taking advantage of special wall yveltal teams. Might need more exploration bc this might be the biggest wild card imo.
Webs are solid, and shuckle is probably the best setter because it has encore and rocks also. Around the same as last vr, just because shuckle sucks but its moves are really good. It has to predict right against something like Zacian lead for sd or behemoth or else it risks letting it set up, and is hurt by stuff like taunt yveltal pressuring mental herb on it harder than before, but red card still works.
Average mon rn, can set rocks, abuse pressure for low pp moves like dynamax cannon or water spout, just lacks recovery and has super tough competition with necrozma dusk mane or eternatus.
Naga might still be alright, it just lost its big power from dragonium. Can still set spikes and tspikes while doing big dynamax damage, it's just super frail and hard to set up usually.
C Tier: This is just the rest of the ubers not mentioned, no explanations they're just kinda mediocre in the meta. A few other mons added in also which might be a bit better but are stopped by a lot.
(clef will get quite a bit better imo)
Tiers will be loosely ordered, there's some semblance to it but the main focus are the tier themselves:
S Rank
S
Calyrex-S
Yveltal
S-
Kyogre
Zygarde-C
These are THE metagame defining Pokémon. You can NEVER ignore those Pokémon in the teambuilding, and regardless of that, they'll put some work on basically every match. Calyrex-S, of course, anyone know hows threatening it is and how versatile it can be with SubSeed, Scarf, Specs, SubNP, etc. making it have only Yveltal as a mostly reliable check. Speaking of Yveltal, on top of Calyrex making it almost mandatory on half of the builds, offensive variants are extremely scary on their own, especially with Dynamax avaliable, and I still feel some sets are underexplored, like Choice Band. Without Primals, Kyogre is back to its old glory, with Scarf being an amazing revenge killer and late-game cleaner and having a great matchup vs offense, Specs having the immediate and almost unstoppable wallbreaking power (that also pairs well with Sticky Web), and even the rarer CM lets it beat some of its checks that would otherwise make people feel safe against it, like Eternatus. Zygarde benefited a lot from the generation shift, having incredible power with Dynamax due to the increased BP of Max Quake, SpD boosts, instant Dragon STAB even when running Dragon Tail, and of course the doubled HP making it take it hits that no other Pokémon could. With the removal of Arceus, fitting a good Zygarde check becomes insanely harder than on gen 7, and the few that are avaliable are generally still prone to getting paralyzed by Glare or phazed out by Dragon Tail.
A Rank
A+
Eternatus
Necrozma-DM
Xerneas
Zacian-C
Those Pokémon are still extremely strong and threatening and are even arguably on the same level of the S- Pokémon. Eternatus and Necrozma-DM keep finding themselves on almost any balance team due to the very strong defensive backbone they can form by dealing with some of the greatest threats in the meta, like Kyogre, Zacian-C, and Xerneas. They're also best users of Toxic Spikes and Stealth Rock respectively, with Toxic Spikes being particularly strong I think. Due to the assumption of SpD Eternatus, I also feel that many teams are sleeping on offensive Eternatus and lack counterplay against it, and although not as much of a surprise, Necrozma-DM can also sweep many teams with offensive sets like Dragon Dance and even TR, especially with the return of Dynamax. Xerneas is among the best Dynamax users and pair very well with Zacian-C to overwhelm their shared checks, especially Necrozma-DM. The amount of Steel-types that are highly used like Zacian and Necrozma don't help it, but outside of that, there's not many bad thing you can say about Xerneas now. Zacian-C, although it did fell off quite a bit compared to DLC1, is still one of the scariest Pokémon to face. It does want to use Swords Dance, but I don't think it can drop any of Behemoth Blade, Wild Charge, Close Combat, and Play Rough, but regardless of that, it remains an incredible revenge killer and can very easily clean on the late-game, especially against offense.
A
Groudon
Ditto
Groudon is underrated. Double Dance and SD + Aerial Ace for Max Airstream lack switch-ins that are not named defensive Zygarde-C (which can even be overwhelmed with enough boosts if it lacks Coil), Ground hits half the tier super effectively and Rock hits most resists. I haven't played much against more utility variants, but Twave seems solid too. Ditto takes advantage of the multiple setup sweepers that we have like Xerneas, Groudon, and Zekrom, and due to gen 8 legendaries abilities like Intrepid Sword or As One, can sweep easily even if copies a unboosted threat too.
A-
Ho-Oh
Zekrom
Tyranitar
Ho-Oh with Heavy-Duty Boots can be incredibly hard to KO for some teams, and the new item combined with Regenerator actually gave it a more free moveslot as Recover is not mandatory anymore. Its type also is amazing against some of the top meta threats like Necrozma-DM and Zacian, but it also limits it in some way since it's weak to other top threats like Zygarde and Kyogre. Zekrom is easily the second best Dragon Dancer in the tier, its STABs provide amazing coverage and often it only needs +1 to sweep with Dynamax, but lack of defensive utility in general makes it hard to fit on many teams. Tyranitar is the second best Calyrex check that we have and still does everything it did pre-DLC, like checking Eternatus, Stealth Rock, and Thunder Wave.
B Rank
B+
Marshadow
Giratina-O
Palkia
Ferrothorn
Regieleki
Marshadow's Speed tier is not the greatest anymore, but Shadow Sneak is invaluable today and it's still pretty hard to switch into, especially with LO Poltergeist sets and the switch from phys def Eternatus to sp. def. Speaking of Shadow Sneak, Giratina-O still provides Defog that aren't as easy to find without Arceus or even Mega Salamence avaliable compared to last gen, and Poltergeist also is pretty useful to give it some offensive presence instead of being an extreme passive mon like its Altered forme, especially against Fairy-types like Xerneas. Palkia is a Pokémon that I liked more than most people, great coverage, hits hard, checks Ogre for offensive teams, is faster than the crowded base 90-99 Speed tier, overall pretty nice. Ferrothorn appreciates Xerneas running less Focus Blast and also is the best Spikes user in the tier, something I feel is every strong on this meta where every Rock-weak mon is using Boots. Regieleki is the hottest take and I'm most likely overrating it, but to me this is easily the best Screens user (not setter as Grimmsnarl exists, but Eleki's utility outside of that makes it better imo), it has Rapid Spin on a meta that's already limited on hazard control, and its amazing Speed lets it revenge kill stuff like Kyogre, Ho-Oh, and Yveltal regardless of boosted Speed or not or even some Pokémon like Calyrex and Zacian if they're weakened enough. Also, once Zygarde and Groudon are taken down, this Pokémon is VERY legit as a offensive threat, don't sleep on it.
B
Calyrex-I
Blissey
Shuckle
Dialga
Rayquaza
Lugia
Giratina
Calyrex-I is still underexplored. OTR sets suffer from the presence of phys. def Necrozma-DM, but if you can get over it, this Pokémon has a very good chance to take something out due to its ridiculous bulk and 165 Attack with 130 BP STAB. Also, despite its bad defensive type, it can actually bring some defensive utility by dealing with Zygarde. Blissey is passive, but still is the blob that takes on most special attackers like Kyogre and Xerneas. Shuckle is the best Sticky Web user, and Sticky Web is the best type of Hyper Offense now. Dialga is also another Pokémon that I quite like, good coverage, works as a check to stuff like Kyogre and Eternatus on the same slot, and has Stealth Rock. Rayquaza was quite a let down since I expected a lot more from Swords Dance + STAB Max Airstream, but regardless of its lack of chances of setting up, it still is a Pokémon that you're always scared when you see on the Team Preview since you know what it can do. MixQuaza is its best set rn imo, as Dragon Dance feels outclassed by Zygarde and Zekrom due to the lack of chances to set up. I don't like Lugia, extremely passive and has 4MSS since it wants double status, Whirlwind, Roost, Ice Beam, etc. But I do recognize its ability to check some of the strongest Pokémon like Zygarde and Groudon, especially with HDB. Giratina also is very passive and has 4MSS, but I do like how Defog is a bit easier to fit on it and Pressure working better on it than on Lugia.
B-
Grimmsnarl
Excadrill
Shedinja
Mew
Like said earlier, I don't think Grimmsnarl is the best Pokémon that can set up Screens, but I do think it's the best at doing it. Its defensive type also is nice for Calyrex, and Taunt lets it keep both hazards and screens up. Excadrill I've barely seem, Sand Rush is very hard to use due to Kyogre and Groudon, but it can still be a suicide lead with Spin utility. Shedinja completely counters some sets of the best Pokémon, like Zacian-C, Kyogre, Xerneas, and Zygarde. It does need support and can be caught by multiple coverage moves depending on the set of those Pokémon, like Crunch or Toxic, but it can stop the wincon of your opponent on its own quite commonly. Mew is the other suicide lead ranked here and is almost always paired with Grimmsnarl, repeating what I said with Ferrothorn, Spikes is very good and lack setters, and Mew can go boom to stop Defog or Spin.
I'll stop my ranking here, there are quite a few Pokémon that I think are good and weren't mentioned here (higher than C rank even), but I can't elaborate much on them, here's a few examples:
These two should be the undisputed Kings. Calyrex has been called broken before, and it's happening again, this mon is broken. Yveltal is easily one of the best pokemon in the tier. Yveltal as a dynamax candidate is extremely scary, but it's only not seen much because its too busy checking the broken Cavalier. These pokemon are near staples on every single team, moreso yveltal simply because of the one above forcing it to be put on, either yveltal or tyranitar, you need one of them or you will pick a pokemon every time this mon comes in.
S-
This one may be a hot take putting Eternatus up here, but this pokemon in my eyes is really reall good. Zygarde needs no introduction, glare is a broken, stupid move and zygarde is easily capable of putting teams into lose lose positions. Either you let something get paralyzed, which the only immunity is zekrom and that thing is never switching in safely, or it sets up a sub/DD/coil and begin to start snowballing your whole team. I personally think Eternatus and zygarde are close to near staples on teams aswell, eternatus being a fantastic kyogre check, and the main reason kyogre isnt in S for me (Ik its a hot take) Eternatus is a fantastic pokemon for defensive teams, and zygarde can either be used as a wincon or a anti wincon for near uncounterable mons like Dual dance groudon, and excadrill, with its glare haze set. That's why i consider these two to be S tier picks.
A+
Call me a crazy person but i think not only is xerneas not even A+ rn, but i think kyogre is A+ and not S. Kyogre is a great pokemon vs offense with its scarf set, but a middling set vs defense, as sp def eternatus makes water spout not very threatening coming from scarf. Specs can threaten a 2hko on eternatus, and dynamax can turn the table to make scarf kyogre terrifying. Specs can be used to force eternatus to switch, and make it pickings for kyogre the next time it comes in. However, if you aren't fast enough on getting ogre back in, eternatus could just double into say a ho-oh, and recover right back to force another exchange with ogre. Zacian is a terrifying pokemon as always, however with the rise of the Cavalier, its speed tier is no longer an auto faster than everything, so now running adamant is more ideal. It has a surprising ammount of sets, with SD 3 attacks, Agility 3 attacks, 4 attacks, and as much as it pains me to list it, the sp def rest talk set i've seen makes me feel pain inside, but in theory it is a good eternatus killer and can take a calyrex specs hit and kill it back, aswell as making xerneas a non issue aslong as its kept healthy. Necrozma is also a demon, being able to switch into zacian and Xerneas, which isnt easy, but my main gripe is that its often easily overwhelmed by the two paired together. Aswell as being unable to run boots or helmet, as kyogre forcing the need to be running utility umbrella so it can recover and beat them in the long run. This causes alot of strain on it, and makes it hard to stick around. The offensive sets are criminally under-rated, this pokemon is stupid with dynamax, i hate it with every fiber of my being, it also somehow wins because you cant hit it with super effective moves or you just give it another boost and it suddenly is trashing everything you know and love like a soccer mom when he son doesnt win.
A
These pokemon are incredible Sweepers + ho-oh. Groudon and Landorus in my eyes are fantastic dynamax abusers, mainly for the fact that set up all over the common defensive necrozma's, and even ho-ohs if your running lum berry. What makes them so definitive in my eyes beyond this is their twave immunity, making it alot harder to simply halt their sweep once they get going. Zygarde-100 is the only true check, but if isnt transformed once you've aquired your boost, its dropping to a +2 airstream or max quake respectively. I may be over rated lando-t a bit, but while it does not have as much bulk as groudon, the intimidate it offers can provide key utility on pokemon who've dynamaxed, like zygarde-100 or calyrex-ice. Ditto doesn't need introduction, its the ultimate cockroach for pokemon who want to setup and sweep. Zekrom, groudon, calyrex, and zacian cannot easily setup with this thing around or you can very easily get reverse turbo smashed if you get greedy, so it's presence alone forces caution in the game. What it wins on that front it loses in the builder, because ditto sometimes struggles to find use vs the turbo fat teams icemaster and nora have an affair with. Xerneas is a great sweeper that you always need to think bout while building any good team, but it struggles to find chances to safely setup without eating a toxic or thunder wave, or just not breaking necrozma, or full hp zacian, which have been slapping sp def to not get smoked by max lightnight. Between that and ditto being able to just reverse harem jutsu over your entire team, it makes it hard to successfully win with xerneas. Ho-oh is the only fatty on this rank, and its earned its place. Being a fantastic cockroach, it has the longevity to stick around with regenerator and boots, meaning it can always stick around unless its lured in, which isn't the most unrealistic prospect. Tech rock moves can be used on a good chunk of pokemon, like offensive yveltal. It also struggles in the fact that its free real estate for any and all zygarde entry. What it loses there, it makes up for in being a great defogger now that recover/roost isnt a requirement, in a tier that defogging became hard to fit again since god is too busy at the borders being flagged because bringing in plates is banned or something.

Zekrom and Rayquaza serve as the tiers definitive Dragon dancers, being able to tear open teams once they get going. Zekrom is better in my eyes as electric + dragon is neutral minimum on everything that isnt the spiky ball, and is immune to paralysis, making it able to setup safely on a scouted necrozma, as sometimes they pack earthquake to disuade zekrom, another point in zekrom's favor is teravolt, meanily you cant just panic button quagsire like you can on the other physical sweepers. Rayquaza is also a good choice, while it loses the teravolt option, and immunity to paralysis, it makes up for it in better coverage, superior speed tier, which crucially outspeeds scarf kyogre, and can also use kyogre as setup fodder thanks to air lock if its locked into a water move or thunder if your crazy enough. It can use both a dragon dance or a swords dance set. Dragon dance is the safer set, where you aren't forced to dynamax to get your speed, while swords dance is made specifically to smoke nora's favorite teams, aka, the fat ones. Giratina-0 is an offensive defogger, with access to poltergeist it can properly smack things on entry, and defog is a luxury not many teams can afford right now. Sneak is a gift from god, thanks to the Cavalier being broken and ruining marriages left and right. Tyranitar is an alternative to Yveltal as your designated calyrex answer, however it has slight 4MSS. It wants rocks because rocks are rocks, it wants foul play to make zacian not free entry, while it also wants twave to cripple things not bothered by foul play. It wants rest so it can stick around to not make calyrex ready to plow you, and also wants snarl so it doesnt invite sub seed calyrex to make you homeless. And rock tomb for the birds. For most circumstances rocks twave rest snarl/foul play is the most ideal, but its still tricky. Ferrothorn is the best spiker now that kyogre is back and ready to be ruining your offense. Spikes is a luxury, and leech seed is great because grass types dont exist besides other ferrothorn. Quagsire is quagsire, i dont need to explain, ya'll already know.
You're a bad person if you use these pokemon rank (A- or B+)
Idk how else to put this, But you are just not a good person if you use these two. You kick babies when the mom looks away, you watch the bachelorette, you have a bazinga shirt in your closet, you put mustard on your steak that you like well done. You're just a bad person and fun hater. Jokes aside gothitelle is good because it can trap support dusk mane and eternatus, and pp stall them for about 200 turns. Shedinja has come back from the shadow realm thanks to the timbs, allowing it the go back to making kyogre a non threat. it's been gifted with poltergeist, so it can chose to do decent chip to switchins if its already burned/poisoned them, while also having sneak to remove everybody's most hated horse.
B+
Reshiram is a surprise in this metagame. Alot thought it'd go back to its cozy home of C tier maximum, but an addition it didnt have before has put forth a chance to shine for about another week till dynamax is sent away. Dragon dance is actually really good, but not full physical. DD stone edge blue flare draco. DD is mainly for the speed raise, aswell as jacking up edge so ho-oh doesnt check it. Draco is prefered as even at +1, your physical dragon move of choice is going to bounce off zygod, while its similar for groudon with your fire moves. Recoil is the other reason why i don't like flare blitz as your choice, because it's just uneeded recoil when special can do the job just fine. What holds this thing back is the whale, but if you manage to chip it down, it can muscle through it. Dialga is an interesting mon, delegating rocks to it for more space on dusk mane was what it did last gen, and this gen its slightly different. This time, it is also seeing use on trick room teams, which are move viable than ever with the stupid fossil abomination, aswell as calyrex ice. While trick room teams are matchup fish still, the fact this pokemon can also work outside them as a makeshift kyogre switchin, is what puts this mon above the other trick room mons who will be down lower. Marshadow is still a solid pokemon, and i can see it going to A- along with the dragon dance duo. It's crying tears of joy now that eternatus is running sp def with ygod, so it can now smoke defense easier with poltergeist. Spectral thief is a make shift ditto, and scarf sets can always be a stop to alot of sweepers. Blissey needs no intro, we all know what it does, just put what it does in OU and put it here. Regieleki is the best screener in the tier in my eyes, and also able to be a soft check to scarf ogre if it wants to, but it doesn't usually do that as screens spin and boom are what i see, but volt switch can work too. Palkia is a defense Smasher while doubling as a kyogre check for offense, which is hard to come by. It can devastate cores really easily as besides our local pink blob, nothing is eager to switch into palkia, especially in rain.
Now for darm. I'm probably extremely overselling this thing, but i honestly think its a decent choice. This pokemon, while its never switching into a single pokemon, it's good in that its terrifying the common Necrozma Ho-oh yveltal zygarde eternatus teams. Necrozma really can't afford to swallow a flare blitz or its out of commision unless it comes back in on something else. Eternatus and zygarde get slammed, while ho-oh can't switch in, and yveltal is gonna get killed probably twice over. Kyogre isn't eager to switch in either, as weakening it is appreciated for other pokemon like reshiram, and so water spout isnt anywhere nuking your team. other defensive pokemon like TTar, ferrothorn, and dialga aren't switching in anytime soon aswell. This pokemon can also shine on sticky web teams, but i haven't tested it yet, or seen it tested so i cant comment on that. This pokemon likely shines on HO teams, being able to force your opponent into a tough spot, where pokemon are made to bounce off of what the other team can forcefully remove to get into a position where the team can find an opening to win. And darm can do both of these very well. It's a matchup fish though, because trick room will ruin your life and darm will be the first pokemon sent in on your melmetal sacrificial ritual. It's a high risk high reward pick and for that reason i think it needs more consideration.
B
Here we got your trick room Ensemble. Melmetal, Hatterene, Porygon2, Dracovish, Cresselia and the ice horse are your local club in high school where you only know them for one thing. Melmetal and the ice horse are the breakers along with the demon fish, porygon2 Hatterene and the moon duck are your setters. Calyrex and Hatterene are unique for setting and abusing, while dracovish has a role outside of trick room, on sand. Mew and Shuckle are your designated leads, while excadrill can both lead and be a potential dynamax candidate on sand, boosted by the lad in A-.
Lunala is currently outclassed by calyrex offensively, but still has some tricks. Lunala's main claim to fame in my eye rn is teleport. Scarf teleport is unique as since everybody is using sp def yveltal, there's no reason not to go into it on lunala on the first exchange. If you teleport on its entry, you can potentially bring in a pokemon to abuse yveltal, such as zacian, xerneas, or kyogre. It also has defog, so it can be a utility scarfer with defog. It can also use trick aswell, much like calyrex, crippling your local pink blob is always fun, and opens the door for someone like reshiram to take the floor. It also has the use of revenge killing the ghost horse, and being a scarfer that can outrun the whale with the scarf he got on his birthday in 2006.
B-
Here we are getting into the pokemon who are busy crying in a corner because of how the meta is doing rn. Giratina and Lugia are busy sitting in the naughty corner at your local kindergarden, biding till dynamax is removed so they can actually start being put on teams. Mewtwo has never been worse, With sp def yveltal, necrozma, calyrex, zacian and friends amuck, its hard for this clone who is worse than its mother for like the first time ever. Nasty plot max airstream holds a niche, but it struggles to fit all the coverage it needs. It needs nasty plot and hurricane to even do anything atall, it needs psystrike for blissey and kyogre, aswell as eternatus. It needs fire for necrozma and zacian, it wants electric/ice coverage for ho-oh/yveltal, ice to make groudon a non issue, and electric for ho-oh. It also is never beating ttar, so lol. Kyurem-black is currently yelling at nora in their dm's asking them to reconsider how their handling dynamax so it can stay relevant after its removed in 2 weeks from sitting in D tier because dynamax list isn't being done. Landorus-I currently holds a spot on Sticky web teams as a breaker and abuser of the icky sticky, and having the ability to dynamax to force even more bodies. Naganadel is pretty much bad eternatus is most ways, but it can be a side choice to suicide mew while trading rocks for tspikes. The issue is that, since eternatus is god, its gonna be on every team, so tspikes aren't that good to use on suicide leads. It can also abuse dynamax with a nasty plot set, gaining speed from beast boost and forcing bodies, It's main issue is that uh, gl switching in because this thing is about as bulky as deoxys speed.
C+
These are the final pokemon on this list where i can find a niche of, everything after this i'm going to absolutely roast. Dugtrio is literally never going to do anything but trap Zacian. Skarmory is a more air tight zacian switchin than corv is, while also setting spikes, but i will admit this is fairly generous. Nothing does nothing quite better than Wobbuffett does, but hey, if your facing a specs kyogre and they ice beam your eternatus, that kyogre is going to die. Gastrodon are your local kyogre niche counter, with access to reliable recovery, setting it above the others in its niche as a water immunity. Zamazenta regular is very niche, they really did this thing dirty, but hey maybe that last mon calyrex is giving you trouble and you want a scarfer with crunch and fancies doing literally nothing to anything else, then have fun with this. Then we got the swift swim conglomerate, Drednaw and Kabutops are nearly identical in stats, so the differences are small. Drednaw has a gmax form with stealth rocks built into the water move, with head smash aswell for powerful nuking ability. What kabutops has is flip turn, rapid spin, aqua jet and knock off, as your last move if you aren't just using swords dance. Barraskewda is nice because its outspeeding literally anything in rain besides agility zacian, and being strong with decent coverage. Kyurem white can run a DD set like reshiram, but its far worse because its gotta pick between hitting ho-oh and removing it, to hitting kyogre when kyurem clicks the big boy button, and can't use freeze dry. And its rock weak, more prone to being walled, and harder to set up in general compared to reshiram.
C (I'm cooking these alive)
These pokemon are terrible. Do not use these. Chansey would be on this list too but i couldn't find a proper sword shield sprite for the life of me and i just didnt want my OCD to go crazy. Zamazenta crowned is the most terrible mascot i've seen made. They need to give this thing like 5+ moves to even be considered. Body press, king's shield, stealth rock, rock coverage of ANY kind, swords dance, and recovery. They hate this thing more than gen 7 talonflame, this thing is TERRIBLE. When you see this pokemon hit the field on ladder you breathe a sigh of relief because you know anybody using this piece of trash does not know what they are doing. Solgaleo gets 2nd place for most terrible mascot i've ever seen, unlike zamacrowned, this pokemon is bad because the next game they released like 1 or 2 years later is 10000x better than it. Swords dance, stealth rock, photon geyser, dragon dance, a way better ability, and better stats. Solgaleo has close combat, teleport and flare blitz. That's it. And in no scenario does it make solgaleo more worthwhile to use over necrozma. We aren't done with bad mascots yet. Because we have outclassed by the outclassed. When lunala was topdog, it wasn't easy to find a use for this thing besides trying to abuse trick room better, which btw lunala also did better. What necrozma dawns wings had over it was power gem, which let it smack mandibuzz. But then we got the ghost horse. Which sent lunala from like S rank and top 3 mon in the tier minimum (highkey i think it was better than zacian) to B rank and put it out of a job in alot of cases. So yea this pokemon is never gonna be used. Then we get the triumverate of pokemon who are gonna be banned from OU once they realize yea we shoulda kept em gone huh. Pheramosa, genesect, magearna, and zygarde 50% will not be good. Magearna would be good if they didnt nuke heart swap. But hey atleast you aren't xurkitree. Genesect hasn't been good for like almost a decade now, pheramosa was bad before and it'll probably be bad now, but it has hope since primal groudon is busy at the border, so maybe instead of being invalidated by number 1 and 2, it'll just be invalidated by 5 and whereever you folks decide to put ho-oh. Zacian is just chilling because him holding a sword is too busy being the reincarnation of jesus, so if they ever decide to alter species clause so that it doesn't affect forms we may see this thing again but yea this thing is currently bad.
This took me like 3 hours and i dont regret it LMAO
Hello Ubers players, here is my personal Viability Rankings of the Ubers tier. These rankings are obviously based on the current tier and therefore the fact that Dynamax is still there (please vote ban). In these rankings, I would give a set for each Pokemon. These sets will be based on my experience, so they will be influenced by what I like to play / what I find strong. For Pokemons or spreads that seem strange, I will explain my choices briefly (the boxes of all the sets will be at the end of the post).
S-Rank:
S
Calyrex-Shadow @ Choice Scarf / Choice Specs
Ability: As One (Spectrier)
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Trick
- Aromatherapy / Draining Kiss / Leaf Storm
- Astral Barrage
- Psyshock
Yes, the spread is pretty terrible : 12 HP to optimize the amount of HP gained with the Leftovers ; 252+ SpD to maximise Zygarde's special bulk ; 118 Speed to outspeed Yveltal ; the rest in Defense to maximise Zygarde's physical bulk (the rest can be put in Atk).
Same as above, the spread is terrible : 12 HP to optimize the amount of HP gained with the leftovers ; 56 Speed to outspeed at +2 Calyrex Shadow ; 252+ Atk to maximize the damage output of Zygarde ; the rest in SpD for the special bulk.
Another terrible spread : 252 HP / 184+ SpD allows Eternatus to hold two Dark Pulse from Yveltal LO Modest, while holding two Water Spout from Kyogre ; 16+ Speed to outspeed base 100 Speed ; 56 Def to have a better physical bulk (helps to hold Calyrex's Psyshock while KOing with Shadow Ball if you use it).
Xerneas @ Power Herb
Ability: Fairy Aura
EVs: 56 HP / 252 SpA / 36 SpD / 164 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Geomancy
- Thunder
- Moonblast
- Draining Kiss / Focus Blast / Substitute
Spread : 156 Speed at +2 allows Xerneas to outspeed Regieleki Timid ; 56 HP / 36 SpD allows Xerneas to hold an Astral Barrage from Calyrex Shadow Choice Specs ; 252+ SpA to maximize the damage output of Xerneas.
Spread : 248 HP / 52 SpD to hold a Thunder from Xerneas at +2 ; 16 Speed to outspeed at +2 Calyrex Shadow (helps if you have to Dynamax Ho-Oh) ; the rest in Def to maximize Ho-Oh's physical bulk.
I'll prefer Surf over Hydro Pump for PP, because of Eternatus' presence ; same thing for Dragon Pulse over Spacial Rend. Thunder is for Kyogre, of course.
This set is an horror, a nightmare. Please do not play this against me.
Marshadow @ Life Orb
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Bulk Up / Rock Tomb
- Poltergeist / Spectral Thief
- Shadow Sneak
- Close Combat
B-Rank:
B+
Regieleki @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Transistor
EVs: 28 Def / 252 SpA / 228 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Rapid Spin
- Rising Voltage / Ancient Power / Thunder
B+ is maybe a little high, but I find it really strong if the opponent haven't a Ground type. Moreover, it's a really good offensive spinner and revenge killer. Spread : 228 Speed allows it to outspeed base 100 Speed at +1 (such as Yvetal after a Max Airstream) ; the rest is in Special Attack to maximize the damage output and have a better chance to hold a Sucker Punch from Offensive Yveltal. Ancient power can be used to hit Shedinja, while Thunder is good with Kyogre.
Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Leech Seed
- Spikes
- Knock Off / Power Whip
- Protect
Spread : 136 Speed to outspeed Zygarde (non complete) max speed Adamant ; the rest in Defense and HP to maximize Lugia's physical bulk (you can put the EVs in Special Defense).
Excadrill @ Life Orb
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature / Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Swords Dance
- Rock Slide / Rapid Spin
- Iron Head
Calyrex-Ice @ Life Orb / Heavy-Duty-Boots
Ability: As One (Glastrier)
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Trick Room
- Glacial Lance
- High Horsepower
- Aromatherapy / Close Combat / Swords Dance
Aromatherapy seems odd but Calyrex Ice threatens many Pokemons in the tier, so it makes a good use of it, as you can use it when anticipating a switch. However, you can change it for Close Combat to get an Attack boost with Max Knuckle ; or put SD to have a tool to break even more.
B
Shuckle @ Mental Herb / Red Card
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Sticky Web
- Final Gambit
- Toxic / Infestation / Encore
Spread : 252 HP / 40 SpD allows Giratina to hold two Ice Beam from Modest Kyogre after Stealth Rock damages ; the rest is put in Defense to reliably take on physical attackers.
Reshiram @ Life Orb / Heavy-Duty-Boots
Ability: Turboblaze
EVs: 104 HP / 252 SpA / 152 Spe
Modest Nature
- Blue Flare
- Draco Meteor / Dragon Pulse
- Stone Edge
- Roost
152 Speed allows Reshiram to outspeed Necrozma-Dusk-Mane max speed Adamant.
Yes you read it : Dragon Dance Reshiram. I've used this set once before DLC, and I find it not super strong but it can sweep if the opponent isn't aware. Moreover, I put it here because I saw Fc04 used it during our BO3 in Ubers Kickoff, and it reminds me on how it could be good. Spread : 176 Speed to outspeed at +1 Eternatus ; the rest is put in Attack to maximize the damage output.
All right, it sounds funny to call a Pokemon with one HP : a wall, but that's Shedinja. It can switch on Kyogre, Regieleki, Xerneas and Zacian-Crowned (without Crunch) thank's to its ability. I might overclass it, but if you're not prepared : it's really hard to face it.
Spread : 248 HP / 32 SpD allows Giratina-O to hold two Ice Beam from Kyogre ; 76 Speed allows Giratina to outspeed Yveltal no speed (and burn it) ; the rest is put in Attack to maximize the damage output. However, you can change the investments (if you use Thunder Wave) to 248 HP / 212 Atk / 32 SpD / 16 Spe (Adamant Nature) to outspeed Zacian Crowned paralysed.
Spread : 248 HP / 32 SpD allows Giratina-O to hold two Ice Beam from Kyogre ; 76 Speed allows Giratina to outspeed Yveltal no speed (and burn it) ; the rest is put in Special Attack to maximize the damage output. However, you can change the investments (if you use Thunder Wave) to 248 HP / 212 SpA / 32 SpD / 16 Spe (Adamant Nature) to outspeed Zacian Crowned paralysed.
B-
Amoonguss @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Foul Play
- Clear Smog
- Grass Knot / Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
Let me explain why there is an Amoonguss on your screen. Amoonguss is a great check to Kyogre, as it can switch on a Water Spout and recover its HP by switching (thank's to Regenerator). Ammonguss also checks Xerneas, Regieleki, Palkia Special and Calyrex (without Psyshock).
Tyranitar @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Crunch
- Thunder Wave
- Rest
Not a huge fan of Tyranitar in the current meta, but I have to say that's it viable to check Calyrex without Leaf Storm (I largely prefer Yveltal).
Landorus-Therian (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 112 HP / 252 Atk / 144 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Fly
- Rock Slide / Protect
- Earthquake
144 Speed allows Landorus-Therian to outspeed Necrozma-Dusk-Mane max speed Adamant, while outspeeding at +2 all the tier. Protect is here to win against Ditto (if the opponent has used its Dynamax) as Ditto can just use Fly to hit Landorus-Therian.
There is a Zarude on your screen, don't worry it will be all right. Zarude has a niche in the tier as a Zygarde-Complete wall. Indeed, Zarude can use Taunt against it, and Zygarde-Complete will do nothing, even if Zygarde has already used Coil / Dragon Dance : Zarude can switch on it. Darkest Lariat ignores stats changes, which is great against Coil Zygarde-Complete. Moreover, it can win its duels against Groudon Double Dance and Necrozma-Dusk-Mane.
Spread : 176 Speed allows Zarude to outspeed max speed base 95 Speed ; 252 HP / 12 SpD allows Zarude to hold a Max Starfall from Calyrex Shadow Life Orb ; the rest is put in Defense to better take hits from physical threats.
Zacian @ Choice Band / Choice Scarf
Ability: Intrepid Sword
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Play Rough
- Close Combat
- Crunch
- Wild Charge
Different post here. Not long ago, for OU's version of this thread, I found all of the averages of everyone's personal rankings and compiled them in a spreadsheet. The way I found the averages was by associating each rank with a number then averaging each number and rounding the results. Today I decided to do that exact same thing for this thread. So to clarify, these are not my opinions; this is just the mathematical average of what everyone here has said.
- For the numbers, I counted S as 1, A+ as 2, A as 3, A- as 4, B+ as 5...so on and so forth, until you hit C with 9. I for some reason went into this without considering that so many people here have S- ranks so I put all S+ and S- as a 1 as well, but because so many people have an S- I'm going to be treating everything that resulted between 1.5 and 1.99 before rounding as S- instead of A+.
- There are 10 lists total. If over half of all people put a Pokemon as unranked, I'll be leaving it off the list. One person explicitly stated that certain Pokemon would be ranked if they had a better idea of where to put them, so I just put that as an "R" on my spreadsheet. Also, because of how Ubers VRs normally do things, I'll be listing Ubers that would be counted as Unranked under a D Rank.
- Because only 8 of the 10 lists have a C Rank, the requirement to get into those lowers from 5 to 4. There also will not be a C+ Rank because the C Rank itself only includes two Pokemon, so both of those will just be lumped together.
- There was also one person who the same Pokemon on their list twice. For that, I just averaged their two placings. If a Pokemon was in both A (3) and A- (4), then I'd put them as a 3.5.
- This result will by no means be perfect. I've done things like this before, and for all of those as well as the OU version of this post, the result was not perfect. This does still get a pretty decent idea, though, even if a few things are going to be off.
C Rank
Skarmory
Kyurem-W
Naganadel
Clefable
Zamazenta
Toxapex
Dugtrio
Corviknight
D Rank
To reiterate, much like the past Ubers VRs, these Pokemon are all the Ubers that did not get mentioned enough to get a proper spot. Some of these only narrowly missed the mark of being ranked, so this is where I expect the most people to see issues.
I may do another one of these if enough people make rankings after something major shifts, like if Dynamax or Calyrex-S ends up getting the boot. DM me if there are any issues with this, this was all entered and typed out manually so I'm sure I screwed something up.
Here is my personal VR. I didnt put a S+ or S- section etc. but they are in the correct order for me.
S
I put Calyrex-S over Zacian-C because it restricts the teambuilding more and pretty much forces you to run Yveltal. The different roles it can fulfill is also noteable. Zacian-C doesn't really need an explanation but it has a lot of more viable soft checks, hence its not in front of Calyrex-S.
A
Even without Dynamax Yveltal is still way too good and thats only because of the current meta. The defensive set is still one of the best tools and the only reason why I didnt put it in S was because its really hard to use the offensive sets right now. But leaving it at the top of A is definitely deserved. NDM is also another blanket check but also has its offensive uses. I've seen stuff like SD TR and DD, although I wouldn't recommend using the later one. Eternatus is another Pokémon you can either use defensive or offensive. I feel like many people underestimate the amount of power it can output. Ditto needs no explanation. Zygarde is kinda slow to set up but if it has the opportunity its gonna teer a hole into the opposing team. Kyogre is not powerful enough for me. Yeah that might sound weird but I really dislike the speedtier and the damage is also okayish. Besides the longtivity is also lackluster. Sub-CM seems interesting but then again its way too hard to set up. Xerneas needs no explanation. If you dont prep against it you gonna get swept, but having a check in your team is kinda easy in the current meta as it overlaps with other Pokémon.
B
I don't really wanna go into detail here but just letting you all know that DD Groudon is kinda slept on.
C
Yeah I didn't continue my list but Gothitelle still has its niche and is noteworthy. It doesn't really fit into any team but I can see it being useful in tournaments against certain players.
A+:
Zygarde-C - forces teams to mitigate hax a lot, mitigating hax is a key aspect of comp pkmn
Kyogre
Xerneas - Wins bc people dont check Geoxern
A:
Yveltal
Eternatus
Ditto
Ho-Oh
A-:
Pheromosa - fastest VIABLE revenge killer in the tier
Necrozma-DM - sux as a support mon, idk why people run it "checks" zacian being its only niche.
Ferrothorn
Marshadow
Groudon
Rayquaza - 6-0s unprepped teams
Zekrom
B:
Giratina-O
Ttar
Excadrill
Shuckle
Lugiass
That electric regi thing
Kingdra
Mewtwo
Quagsire
Lunala
Dracovish
C:
Palkia
Dialga
