What is The Pokédex Redone? TPR is a Pet Mod on Smogon that aims to recreate the Pokédex from scratch using a set of rules the mod team determines. The mod team includes:
This format will start in Gen 1 and work its way up to Gen 7! Note that the Special Attack and Special Defense stats are combined into one in Gen 1! There is also no Physical/Special split, and there are no Abilities. So how does it work? Well, we will "replace" each Pokemon with a different Pokemon. For example, take Bulbasaur. It is a 3-stage evolution tree that shares a type. This means Bulbasaur's "replacement" will also be 3-stage and share a type. But that's not all. Bulbasaur has a 253 base stat total in Gen 1. This means Bulbasaur's "replacement" will also have to have a 253 BST. The council will specify which Pokémon are in which slate, and what criteria must be met with each Pokémon.
What are the rules? Well, they’re complicated. A lot of math will be involved on our part to figure out what will be appropriate. Let’s just say we’ve got you covered: We will specify exactly what we want for each slate/Pokémon. Some general rules:
• No stat can be over 130
• 175-249 BST: Lowest stat must be greater than or equal to 20
• 250-324 BST: Lowest stat must be greater than or equal to 30
• 325-399 BST: Lowest stat must be greater than or equal to 40
• 400-499 BST: Lowest stat must be greater than or equal to 50
• 500 BST: Lowest stat must be greater than or equal to 60
More rules: A “replacement” can only have either the same number of STAB moves as the original if it is dual type, or the total number of STAB moves divided by 2 and rounded down if the original is single type. Single type Pokémon “replacements” will have the number of STAB moves multiplied by 2 and rounded down if the original is dual type. In both cases, the number of STAB moves can be less than the max allowed; the council reserves the right to do this. All Pokémon get a free Toxic, Rest, Double-Edge, and Substitute that do not count towards the total. Event moves can be added at the council's discretion and do not contribute toward totals. Swords Dance, Meditate, Sharpen, Lovely Kiss, Hypnosis, Glare, Agility, Softboiled, Growth, Amnesia, Partial Trapping, Dual Screens, Recover, Leech Seed, Sing, Sleep Powder, Stun Spore, Thunder Wave, Acid Armor, Barrier, Self-Destruct, and Explosion are banned from submissions. Banned moves will have their own slate at the end of the generation's voting period. The council reserves the right to add them as event moves as we see fit at any point.
What about non-STAB? A Pokemon can learn as many Normal type moves as it wants, unless specified or its type is Normal. If its type is Normal, then see the STAB section. The council will count how many non-Normal non-STAB moves the Pokémon to be replaced has. The “replacement” Pokémon can learn this number of moves. The number of non-STAB moves submitted can be less than the number allowed. The “replacement" Pokémon can only learn 1 non-STAB move with over 60 base power until the “flavor” phase of submissions begins, where the council will choose select Pokémon to give “flavor” to based on their Pokédex entries and type(s). Pre-evolutions can't learn Hyper Beam. Final evolutions get an exception for Hyper Beam, and it doesn't count toward the total. Evolved Pokémon inherit the moves of their pre-evolved forms, and those moves count toward the totals.
How are the Pokémon decided? First, there will be a slate for idea submissions. We will specify what we want for each Pokémon. Then there will be a slate for voting. In the case of ties, we will select the Pokémon ourselves. Council members reserve the right to adjust anything to their discretion. Under extenuating circumstances, the council reserves the right to “speed up” the process by determining select features of “replacement” Pokémon.

After the submission process, voting will commence. You will be able to vote for up to 3 subs for each Pokémon. If voting for yourself, it has to be in the third slot. 1st slot = 3 pts., 2nd slot = 2 pts., 3rd slot = 1 pt. Totals will be accumulated for each mon, and the winners will receive roles in the Winning Submissions/Hall of Fame!
