Probably nothing, especially not this early on. The reasoning behind Salazzle seemed perfectly sound in the first slate where it was made, when there were 0 pokemon in the tier. It has a Def and SpA bias because most of GF's Steel types are physical. Then we added two SpD steel types that don't run physical attacks. If we add a third that's probably on you.Funny enough, I think that Salazzle will be good as far as the meta is concerned, in that it will probably be relevant and prevalent, but as far as fulfilling the concept goes, I think we missed the mark a bit, it doesnt even reliably 4HKO Specially Defensive Basti (although Physically defensive variants are 3HKOd) and Bronzong can set up a Trick Room and wipe it with Energy Ball. What do you people think we should do in such cases, where they are balanced but do not fulfill what we set out to do?
Altaria
Stats: 125 / 95 / 65 / 95 / 65 / 75 | BST: 520
Typing: Dragon / Flying
Abilities: Cloud Nine / Fluffy | Drizzle (HA)
Movepool Changes(if any): +Hurricane, Brave Bird, Thunder, Thunderbolt, Surf, Liquidation, Wish, -Flamethrower, Fire Blast, Heat Wave, Earthquake
How does this fulfill the concept?: Fluffy-abusing defensive Dragon type that walls many users of contact moves, such as Rapidash, Banette, and Pheromosa. Thanks to Wish it's a natural partner to Bastiodon and Swampert. Its defensive matchups are few but important, and with hazard removal being rare it would probably be a useful ( but not that hard to break ) part of defensive cores.
Name: Exeggutor
Stats: 115 / 85 / 65 / 120 / 65 / 60 (510)
Typing: Grass/Psychic
Abilities: Harvest, Adaptability, Drought
Movepool Changes(if any): +Calm Mind, Weather Ball
How does this fulfill the concept?: Pick your choice: Spam Psychic and Giga Drain, or spam Solar Beam and Weather Ball? Either way, you're gonna be plowing big-ass holes in just about everything not named Bastiodon. And even then, it's not like it can take on Weather Ball unless it runs Sand Stream. Thankfully its speed isn't all that great, and while defensively countering it is not really a thing, checks such as Bronzong, Aurorus, the aforementioned Bastiodon and Swellow can trouble it.
And of course, here are the next mons on the chopping block...
Name: Scolipede
Stats: 77 / 113 / 70 / 50 / 70 / 120 (BST 500)
Typing: Bug / Poison
Abilities: Poison Point / Merciless / Mold Breaker
Movepool Changes: +Knock Off, +Sucker Punch, +Gunk Shot, +Leech Life, +Fell Stinger, -Gyro Ball, -Swords Dance
Fell Stinger: Bug-type Explosion clone (keeps the defense halving)
How does this fulfill the concept?: Scolipede is now an amazing hazard lead due to its high speed and Mold Breaker, allowing it to set up hazards even in the face of future Magic Bouncers. It also has a new powerful move for when it finishes its job or it can't get up any hazards in the heavily buffed Fell Stinger, which can take some foes down due to it being a 500 BP move with STAB. Alternatively, Scolipede can use Merciless in combination with Toxic Spikes to turn into a decent wallbreaker that can muscle past bulky foes with critical hits. However, Scolipede still has somewhat mediocre bulk, meaning it can be revenge killed pretty easily by Rapidash, Tyrantrum, and Swellow. Bug / Poison is also a terrible offensive typing, meaning that it is walled pretty easily by pokes like Bastiodon, Bronzong, and Avalugg if it doesn't have Merciless due to its lack of its only Attack-boosting option.
