UU Volcanion

[OVERVIEW]

Volcanion is a strong wallbreaker in UU thanks to its fantastic Fire / Water typing, great offensive stats, and solid movepool, which consists of coverage options such as Earth Power, Sludge Wave, and Solar Beam. Volcanion also has decent bulk that allows it to tank neutral hits from common Pokemon such as Cobalion, Infernape, and Starmie fairly well. In addition, Volcanion's Water Absorb ability and useful resistances allow Volcanion to check big threats such as Primarina, Scizor, and Mega Blastoise. Despite all of this, Volcanion's middling Speed tier and weaknesses to common Rock-, Ground-, and Electric-type moves from Pokemon such as Krookodile, Terrakion, Mega Aerodactyl, and Raikou make it fare poorly against offensive teams. While most defensive Water-types can't do much to Volcanion, Volcanion can't do much back with the exception of a possible Bloom Doom. Common Dragon-types such as Latias and Hydreigon also give Volcanion trouble, as their decent bulk and recovery options make it hard for Volcanion to break through them. Volcanion is also vulnerable to every entry hazard and weak to Stealth Rock, which makes it easily worn down over the course of a match.

Moves
========

Steam Eruption is Volcanion's main STAB attack, boasting high power, reliable accuracy, and a 30% chance to burn. Steam Eruption is extremely powerful, 2HKOing Hydreigon and Primarina after Stealth Rock damage and OHKOing Raikou after Stealth Rock. Fire Blast is another strong STAB attack and OHKOes Grass-types such as Celebi and Amoonguss that might try to switch into Steam Eruption; an alternative option is Flamethrower, which is weaker but has greater accuracy and more PP. Hidden Power Electric hits Water-types such as Suicune and Mantine for high amounts of damage, but it can be troublesome to be locked into. Earth Power is another option in this slot to hit Tentacruel, Empoleon, and opposing Volcanion hard. The last move is Sludge Wave, which OHKOes Primarina and nets neutral damage on Latias and Hydreigon. Sludge Bomb is also an option for the additional 20% chance to poison, which can help wear down Water-types that can wall Volcanion such as Slowking and Suicune.

Set Details
========

Maximum Speed and Special Attack EVs allow Volcanion to hit as hard and as fast as possible, and a Modest nature is used because Volcanion needs all the wallbreaking power it can get. A Timid nature can be used to Speed tie with opposing Timid Volcanion and outspeed Timid Primarina, and, at worst, Speed tie with Mega Swampert, but Timid Volcanion does miss out on guaranteed OHKOes on Pokemon such as Primarina. Volcanion's only ability is Water Absorb, which is useful for recovering health when switching in on a potential Water-type move. Choice Specs is used on this set to give Volcanion as much wallbreaking power as possible and allow Volcanion to 2HKO a majority of the metagame.

Usage Tips
========

Volcanion is best used as a wallbreaker to punch holes in the opponent's team for your team to take advantage of. Switching Volcanion directly into attacks can get it worn down from repeated Stealth Rock damage, but its bulk and typing do give it some opportunities to switch in. Don't let Volcanion lose its Choice Specs because of Knock Off or Trick, as Volcanion needs its power to break through teams. Steam Eruption is the attack you want Volcanion to use most of the time, as its consistent power and burn chance allow it to wear down its defensive answers, but use coverage options such as Earth Power when predicting a switch into a Water-type such as Tentacruel or Empoleon. Double switching is often a good strategy when predicting Dragon- or Water-types to be sent in to tank a Steam Eruption.

Team Options
========

Volcanion appreciates U-turn and Volt Switch support from Pokemon such as Scizor, Hydreigon, Raikou, and Mega Beedrill, as they can bring Volcanion in safely to prevent it from getting worn down too quickly. Ground-types make for good teammates to Volcanion thanks to their solid type synergy with Volcanion and their ability to set up Stealth Rock to turn potential 3HKOs into 2HKOs. Examples include Hippowdon, Krookodile, and Swampert; Hippowdon and Swampert can check Mega Aerodactyl and Terrakion, while Krookodile can Pursuit trap Latias. Pokemon that appreciate Volcanion's ability to weaken walls, such as Terrakion, Mega Sharpedo, and Mega Swampert, also make for good teammates, since they appreciate Volcanion's ability to break past their counters and weaken shared checks. Grass-types also make for great teammates, resisting Ground- and Electric-type moves while being able to check bulky Water-types; in particular, Celebi is a good teammate, as it can set up Stealth Rock for Volcanion as well as check Terrakion and Raikou. Amoonguss is also a solid partner since it can put something to sleep for Volcanion. Pursuit trappers make for good teammates because they can eliminate Latias, one of Volcanion's best checks. Scizor, Krookodile, and Mega Aerodactyl can at least weaken Latias so that it can't switch into Volcanion later in the match. Another thing Volcanion really appreciates is entry hazard removal, which keeps it from being easily worn down. Latias and Togekiss are two good examples; Latias resists Electric and has a Ground immunity, thus having solid defensive synergy with Volcanion, while Togekiss can check Latias and Hydreigon and paralyze them so they can't check Volcanion later in the match.

Moves
========

Steam Eruption is a strong STAB attack that boasts great neutral coverage and power. Fire Blast is the secondary STAB attack and is used over Flamethrower because Volcanion really appreciates the extra power due to the lack of Choice Specs. Sludge Wave is the preferred coverage option in the third slot to hit Water-types as well as Latias neutrally, but Sludge Bomb is also a good option to potentially poison switch-ins such as Suicune, Latias, and Slowking. Solar Beam is the primary option in the last move slot to hit a bulky Water-type for massive damage with Bloom Doom; for example, it always OHKOes maximum HP Suicune, Mega Blastoise, Slowbro, and Primarina. The second option in this slot is Superpower, which in conjunction with Fightinium Z can lure in and do massive damage to Blissey while also OHKOing Hydreigon.

Set Details
========

Maximum Special Attack investment is used to hit as hard as possible, and maximum Speed EVs allow Volcanion to at least Speed tie with opposing neutral-natured Mega Swampert and Volcanion. If Volcanion is running Superpower, a Rash nature should be used to avoid lowering the damage output of All-Out Pummeling, but if it isn't, a Modest nature should be used. Water Absorb is Volcanion's only ability and is useful for switching into Water-type moves from Pokemon such as Primarina and Mega Blastoise. The item comes down to the move selection; Fightinium Z is used with Superpower, while Grassium Z with Solar Beam.

Usage Tips
========

This set has the freedom of switching up moves to lure in common defensive answers to Volcanion, so try not to reveal this set's lack of Choice Specs by double switching on predicted switch-ins. Try not to let Volcanion get worn down from repeated Stealth Rock damage. Additionally, make use of Volcanion's Water Absorb to try to restore any lost health when against Pokemon such as Primarina and Empoleon.

Team Options
========

Grass-types make for excellent teammates, as they can absorb Electric- and Ground-type attacks that might be troubling for Volcanion to take and work especially well with Volcanion that have Fightinium Z. Celebi, in particular, is a great teammate because it can break past Water-types with Nasty Plot. Bulky Ground-types also make for solid teammates because they have good type synergy with Volcanion, being immune to Electric and resisting Rock. They can also set up Stealth Rock, which helps Volcanion wear down its defensive answers that try to switch around its strong moves. Examples include Hippowdon, Krookodile, and Swampert. Pokemon that lure out Water-type moves make for good teammates, as Volcanion needs the HP gained from Water Absorb. Examples include Hippowdon, Krookodile, and Scizor. Entry hazard control is much appreciated because Volcanion wants all the longevity it can get. Latias, Scizor, and Togekiss make for solid teammates in this regard. Latias and Togekiss are particularly effective teammates; Togekiss can check Hydreigon and Latias and paralyze them so that they can't outspeed Volcanion later in the match, while Latias resists Electric and is immune to Ground, thus having good defensive synergy with Volcanion. Since Volcanion typically baits in Water-types, Pokemon that like Water-types being lured and eliminated such as Gliscor, Terrakion, and Krookodile make for good teammates in conjunction with Bloom Doom Volcanion. Pokemon that like Blissey being lured and eliminated, such as Raikou, Mega Blastoise, and Hydreigon, also make for good teammates.

Other Options
=============

Running 28 Defense EVs is an option to always take Choice Scarf Krookodile's Earthquake. A Choice Scarf set can be used, but it's slow and can't outspeed other Choice Scarf users, nor can it outspeed Mega Aerodactyl and Mega Beedrill. A defensive set with Leftovers and Toxic is an option, but it's weak and Volcanion's lack of recovery makes it a mediocre option. Haze and Z-Haze are options to remove boosts from foes such as Calm Mind Reuniclus and Suicune; Z-Haze also gives Volcanion a much-appreciated recovery option, but this set is really weak compared to others. Expert Belt is an option if your team already has a Z-Move user, but it lacks the power needed to break past typical checks such as Blissey and Latias. Wacan Berry, Charti Berry, and Shuca Berry are options to lure in common offensive checks, tank what would be a super effective move, and deal heavy damage back, but it faces competition from the Choice Specs and Z-Move sets due to its lack of raw wallbreaking power.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Water-types**: Volcanion usually can't do much to bulky Water-types such as Suicune, Gastrodon, and Slowking; Suicune can easily PP stall Steam Eruption as well. All three Pokemon take a massive amount of damage from Bloom Doom, however.

**Dragon-types**: Latias and Hydreigon are able to consistently switch into Volcanion thanks to their access to reliable recovery and decent bulk, and both are able to hit Volcanion very hard with Draco Meteor. Hydreigon, however, is almost always OHKOed by All-Out Pummeling.

**Fast Ground-types**: Krookodile, Zygarde-10%, Nidoking, and Mamoswine can outspeed Volcanion and do heavy damage to if not OHKO it, but they can't switch into it.

**Electric-types:** Raikou, Xurkitree, and Magneton can outspeed and OHKO Volcanion, but Magneton risks a Speed tie if Volcanion is running a Timid nature. Additionally, none of these Pokemon can switch into Volcanion.

**Fast Rock-types** Terrakion and Mega Aerodactyl are capable of outspeeding Volcanion and doing a lot of damage to it with super effective Rock-type moves. Life Orb Terrakion OHKOes Volcanion with Stone Edge, and Mega Aerodactyl has a high chance to do the same.

**Blissey** Blissey doesn't care about anything Volcanion usually goes for. It can freely set up entry hazards on Volcanion or just attack with Seismic Toss, but it has to be very wary of All-Out Pummeling.

**Entry Hazards** Volcanion is easily worn down by entry hazards due to its lack of recovery, Stealth Rock weakness, and tendency to switch into U-turn and therefore be forced out. Over the course of a match, the Pokemon that Volcanion checks will eventually be able to KO it because of Stealth Rock damage.

overview
  • mention its role as a wallbreaker in the first line, since that's what everyone reads first.
  • mention water absorb because that's a very useful ability.
  • when you talk volcanion's typing, mention how the stealth rock weakness wears it down easily, and then what useful resistances it gets (and examples of threats that it can check as a result)
  • when you mentioned volcanion's speed, you talked about undermining its decent bulk, but you've made no mention of that beforehand, so give credit to its bulk before that.
choice specs set
  • i'd honestly drop the slash of earth power on the last moveslot and slash sludge bomb. the loss of 5 base power in exchange for a 20% higher chance of poisoning is honestly not a bad idea, so it should be Hidden Power Grass / Hidden Power Electric / Earth Power and Sludge Wave / Sludge Bomb
moves
  • would help to sell volcanion if you gave examples of what each stab move hits, or in the case of steam eruption, more so some things it 2hkos or ohkoes with the help of the choice specs
  • hidden power grass does ohko standard defensive swampert, but for mega swampert, that largely depends on the set; it ohkoes rain sweeper mega swampert, but bulkier variants such as for stealth rock, which tend to invest heavily in HP and/or SpDef, can survive one, so change that sentence to reflect that. also, mention that it hits most other water-types for super effective damage.
  • when you talk about the moves, try to talk about them in order that they're mentioned in the set, so in this case you'd want to talk about hp electric after hp grass; it only makes sense. from there, change it to sound like "Hidden Power Electric hits Water-types as well for super effective damage, but most notably hits Mantine, which walls Volcanion otherwise."
  • earth power's most notable targets other than tentacruel are empoleon and opposing volcanion, so it's worth mentioning that they're hit super effectively. right now, it sounds like you're saying earth power hits tentacruel neutrally, which obviously isn't the case.
  • add a sludge bomb point as per the set change
set details
  • you need to learn to show your points better. for example, what water-types does volcanion take hits better from because of water absorb (obviously all water moves, but pokemon specifics)
  • same thing with the point about speed. give examples of what timid allows volcanion to outspeed (timid primarina and speed tying with opposing volcanion for example. there are definitely more)
usage tips
  • second point: it's fine, but make special note of how it gets worn down quick, especially if stealth rock is up
  • last point: unless it's carrying hidden power grass or electric, depending on which water-types. some water-types are also hit by earth power as mentioned in moves, so change to reflect this.
  • volcanion has the bulk to take knock off, but it really hates to with this set, since it's pretty lackluster as a wallbreaker without the specs imo
  • make mention of how you can make use of volcanion's water absorb to heal some hp.
team options
  • add bulky ground-types as good partners. they have decent synergy for volcanion, and can set up stealth rock to wear down the opposing team as they try to switch around volcanion's choice specs-boosted moves.
  • you did fine talking about stuff that supports volcanion, but what about what volcanion supports with its wallbreaking capabilities? basically, it punches holes and koes things like amoonguss, so give examples of sweepers and cleaners that would benefit from it.
  • mention pokemon that would lure water-type moves so volcanion can switch in and gain some HP back. it also forces the opponent to think twice before even clicking a water-type move, which can be taken advantage of.
  • feel like among the hazard removers, latias deserves a special mention because of its ground immunity and resistance to electric, so it has the added benefit of good type synergy.
all-out attacker set
  • looks okay
moves
  • same deal as specs set with the stab moves: what do each of them do, and how are they effective since they aren't boosted by the choice specs now
  • for bloom doom, it hits bulky water-types such as? for the all-out pummeling example, it also hits empoleon nicely and can catch hydreigon on the switch.
set details
  • might be worth mentioning how water absorb actually works pretty well in conjunction with bloom doom especially. it looks fine otherwise though, not much extra to say.
usage tips
  • your second point is very vague and doesn't tell a whole lot. you're essentially telling readers its role and to fit this set on teams that need that role, which isn't technically wrong, but it's pretty redundant. i'd just edit the first line to say "break apart common defensive cores" and remove the second point entirely. the whole thing about what team it fits on belongs more in team options over usage tips anyway.
team options
  • the point about latias and bulky ground-types from the previous set still applies
  • the point about grass-types is fine, but make the part about breaking through bulky water-types especially so if volcanion is running fightinium not grassium z.
  • third point: arcanine is not a good example with how mediocre it is in the meta. something like entei or mega aerodactyl would be much better. also, what are the bulky water-types exactly that'd get lured and removed by volcanion? this adds perspective as to what sort of things need to be broken through for the teammate to be more successful.
other options
  • add choice scarf. it's not horrible, but the speed kinda lets it down
  • add haze too imo. getting rid of calm mind boosts from like slowbro is pretty nice along with other setup sweepers. you can mention icium z in conjunction with that too if you want for a one-time recovery, something that volcanion really appreciates, but for the most part, you'd be better off using one of the lure z-moves or running a z-move on another pokemon altogether.
  • possible defensive set with the leftovers you mentioned already. it's still pretty average because even with leftovers, stealth rock is going to wear it down fast with no reliable recovery, something that's not optimal for a defensive pokemon. it also lacks wallbreaking power with this set like you said. it does help volcanion take on threats like scizor and primarina better though.
  • Ebelt is an alternative for superpower volcanion over fightinium-z if you have better z-move users on your team, but it hits blissey significantly less hard, which is the main target.
checks and counters
  • not a fan of the one compressed bullet point "super effective moves" because that's pretty much a given as a whole, but it's also very vague because anything can carry hidden power ground or something. would that count as a check then? as such, i'd split this point into "faster ground-types", which include zygarde-10%, nidoking, nidoqueen, krookodile, and mamoswine; "electric-types", which include raikou and xurkitree, but magneton can be mentioned except it has to risk a speed tie if it's timid volcanion and it's not scarf magneton; and "mega aerodactyl", which is self explanatory.
I get that there's a lot of comments, so take your time to implement and sort through this. You have most of the general stuff down, which is great, but you need to be able to give concrete examples and flesh out your points better because you're not going to sell Volcanion as a viable Pokemon with what you have right now; readers aren't going to look at this and be like "Oh, now I want to use this on my team" at the moment. Once you're done, let us know and someone will QC will properly stamp it after looking through again, especially the All-out Attacker set, since I haven't used that one that much.

I sort of got confused when I was adding the changes. I believe that I implemented everything, please let me know if I missed something.

Looks much better from what I can tell. Just remove the AV Raikou mention in the moves section for specs. It's not really relevant.

Some stuff you missed (I blame my own cluttered comments tbh): expert belt in oo for superpower volcanion if you don't want a Z move on it, electric types (Raikou, xurkitree, magneton) in C&C. QC 1/3 after that

For the first set, I'd just remove HP Grass from the set entirely. HP Electric hits Tentacruel, opposing Volcanion, and Mantine for super effective damage, while I don't think Gastrodon is common enough to warrant HP Grass. Steam Eruption already does 80-90 to offensive mega pert, and that's the move you'd be going for most of the time anyway. For the Sludge Bomb bullet, just add "targets like Latias, Slowking, and Slowbro" to the end of that.

Remove Starmie as a spinning partner too, too many shared weaknesses/checks and counters. You can add Togekiss as a solid partner with Defog that can also check Hydreigon and Latias, and also paralyze faster Pokemon like these and Aero so they can't check volcanion.

For the second set, move the HP EVs into Speed. Not worth getting outspeed by offensive Scizor, and losing the potential tie with other Volcanion and Mega Swampert.

Add Latias trappers to Team Options since it shuts this set down even harder than Specs.

For OO, add Toxic to the Leftovers set. Also add 28 Def EVs to OO to guarantee that it lives Scarf Krookodile's EQ from full.

These are easy changes and the analysis looks very good, so QC 2/3

I might be stupid, but I'm not sure what you meant when you said "For the Sludge Bomb bullet, just add 'targets like Latias, Slowking, and Slowbro' to the end of that."

Outside of that, Implemented, gonna start writing it up.

I've written this up, but it looks really clunky to me. I feel like I could have condensed it a bit, but let me know if I should make any changes.

This sentence ''so try and bluff Choice Specs on its defensive counters, such as Suicune, and switch out when the opponent thinks you're locked into a move.'' should be worded differently. The damage output difference will call your bluff so youre better off just doubling out. QC:3/3 after.

Common Dragon-types such as Latias and Hydreigon also give Volcanion trouble, as their decent bulk and recovery options make makes it hard for Volcanion to break through them. Volcanion is also weak to every entry hazard, especially Stealth Rock, which makes it can easily worn wear it down over the course of a match.

A Choice Scarf set can be used, but it's slow and can't outspeed other Choice Scarf users, nor can it outspeed Mega Aerodactyl and Mega Beedrill. A defensive set with Leftovers set that utilizes Toxic is an option, but it's weak and the Volcanion's lack of recovery Volcanion has makes it a mediocre option. Haze and Z-Haze are both options to remove boosts from foes such as Calm Mind Reuniclus and Suicune; Z-Haze also gives Volcanion a much-appreciated one-time recovery option, but it's really weak compared to other sets. Expert Belt, if you already have a Z-Move user, is an option, but it lacks the power needed to break past typical checks such as Blissey and Latias. Wacan Berry, Charti Berry, and Shuca Berry are all options to lure in common offensive checks, tank what would be a super-effective move, and deal heavy damage back, but it faces competition from the Choice Specs and Z-Move sets due to its lack of raw wallbreaking power.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Water-types** Volcanion usually can't do much to bulky Water-types such as Suicune, Gastrodon, and Slowking. Suicune can just PP stall Steam Eruption, but all three Pokemon take a massive amount of damage from Bloom Doom.

**Dragon-types** Latias and Hydreigon are both able to consistently switch into Volcanion thanks to their access to reliable recovery and decent bulk, and both are able to hit Volcanion very hard with Draco Meteor. Hydreigon, however, is almost always OHKOed by Z-Superpower.

**Fast Ground-types** Krookodile, Zygarde 10%, Nidoking, and Mamoswine can outspeed Volcanion and do heavy damage to if not OHKO Volcanion it, but they can't switch into Volcanion.

**Electric-types:** Raikou, Xurkitree, and Magneton can all outspeed and OHKO Volcanion, but Magneton risks a potential Speed tie if Volcanion is running a Timid nature. Additionally, none of the Pokemon listed can switch into Volcanion.

**Fast Rock-types** Terrakion and Mega Aerodactyl are capable of outspeeding Volcanion and doing a lot of damage to it with super-effective Rock-type moves. Life Orb Terrakion OHKOes Volcanion with Stone Edge, while Mega Aerodactyl has a high chance to OHKO Volcanion at full health.

**Blissey** Blissey doesn't care about anything Volcanion could usually go for. Blissey can set up entry hazards on Volcanion or just attack with Seismic Toss, but Blissey has to be very wary of Z-Superpower.

**Entry Hazards** Volcanion has a hard time with being is easily worn down by entry hazards due to its lack of recovery, Stealth Rock weakness, and tendency to switch into U-turn. Over the course of a match, the Pokemon that Volcanion checks will eventually just kill be able to KO it because of Stealth Rock damage.

Volcanion is a strong wallbreaker in UU thanks to its fantastic Fire/Water Fire / Water typing, great offensive stats, and a solid movepool, (comma) which consists consisting of coverage options such as Earth Power, Sludge Wave, and Solar Beam. Volcanion also has decent bulk that allows it to tank neutral hits fairly well from common Pokemon such as Cobalion, Infernape, and Starmie fairly well. In addition to this, Volcanion's Ability, (comma) Water Absorb, (comma) in conjunction with its ability and useful resistances allows Volcanion to check big threats such as Primarina, Scizor, and Mega Blastoise. Despite all of this, Volcanion's middling Speed tier and weaknesses to common Rock-, Ground-, and Electric-type moves from Pokemon such as Krookodile, Terrakion, Mega Aerodactyl, and Raikou make it unable to deal very well with fare poorly against offensive teams. While most defensive Water-types can't do much to Volcanion, Volcanion can't do much back, (comma) with the exception of a possible Z-Solar Beam Bloom Doom. Common Dragon-types such as Latias and Hydreigon also give Volcanion trouble, as their decent bulk and recovery options make it hard for Volcanion to break through them. Volcanion is also weak vulnerable to every entry hazard, (comma) especially and weak to Stealth Rock, which makes it easily worn down over the course of a match.

Steam Eruption is Volcanion's main STAB attack, boasting high power, reliable accuracy, and a 30% chance to burn. Steam Eruption is extremely powerful, 2HKOing Hydreigon, (comma) and Primarina after Stealth Rock, (comma) damage and OHKOes OHKOing Raikou after Stealth Rock. Fire Blast is another strong STAB attack that and OHKOes Grass-types such as Celebi and Amoonguss that might try and to switch into Steam Eruption; an alternative option is Flamethrower, which is weaker but more accurate and has greater accuracy and more PP. Hidden Power Electric hits Water-types such as Suicune and Mantine for high amounts of damage, (comma) but can be troublesome to be locked into. Earth Power is another option in this slot to hit Tentacruel, Empoleon, and opposing Volcanion hard. The last move is Sludge Wave, which OHKOes Primarina and nets neutral coverage damage on Latias and Hydreigon. Sludge Bomb is also an option for the additional 20% chance to poison, which can helping with wearing down Water-types that can wall Volcanion such as Slowking and Suicune that can wall Volcanion.

Set Details
========

Maximum Speed and Special Attack allow Volcanion to hit as hard and as fast as possible, while and a Modest nature is used because Volcanion needs all the wallbreaking power it needs can get. A Timid nature can be used to Speed tie with opposing Timid Volcanion, outspeed Timid Primarina, and outspeed Adamant Mega Swampert, but it Timid Volcanion does miss out on guaranteed OHKOes on Pokemon such as Primarina. Volcanion's only ability is Water Absorb, which is useful for recovering health when switching in on a potential Water-type move. Choice Specs is used on this set to give Volcanion as much wallbreaking power as it can get possible (to avoid repetition), (comma) and allowing it Volcanion to 2HKO a majority of the metagame.

Usage Tips
========

Volcanion is best used as a wallbreaker to punch holes in the opponent's team for your team to take advantage of. Hard Switching Volcanion directly into attacks can get it worn down from repeated Stealth Rock damage, but Volcanion's its bulk and typing does give it some switch-in opportunities. Don't let Volcanion lose its Choice Specs via because of Knock Off or Trick, as Volcanion needs the general its power needed to break holes in through teams. Steam Eruption is the attack you want Volcanion to be using use most of the time, as its consistent power and burn chance allows allow it to wear down its defensive answers, but use coverage options such as Earth Power when predicting a switch-in from switch into a Water-type such as Tentacruel and or Empoleon. Double switching is often just a good thing to go for to strategy when predicting potential Dragon-type or Water-types to be sent in switch-ins that might want to tank a Steam Eruption.

Team Options
========

Volcanion appreciates U-turn and Volt Switch support from Pokemon such as Scizor, Hydreigon, Raikou, and Mega Beedrill, as they can bring Volcanion in safely to prevent it from getting worn down too fast quickly. Ground-types make for good teammates to Volcanion thanks to the their solid type synergy they share with Volcanion, (comma) as well as being able and their ability to set up Stealth Rock to turn potential 3HKOes into 2HKOes. Examples include Hippowdon, Krookodile, and Swampert; Hippowdon and Swampert can check Mega Aerodactyl and Terrakion, while Krookodile can pursuit Pursuit trap Latias. Pokemon that appreciate Volcanion's ability to weaken walls, such as Terrakion, Mega Sharpedo, and Mega Swampert, also make for good teammates since they appreciate Volcanion's ability to break past their counters and weaken similar shared checks. Grass-types also make for great teammates, resisting Ground- and Electric-type moves, (comma) while being able to check bulky Water-types; in particular, Celebi is a good teammate, as it can set up Stealth Rock for Volcanion as well as check Terrakion and Raikou. Amoonguss is also a solid partner since it can put something to sleep with Spore for Volcanion. Pursuit trappers also make for good teammates since because they can eliminate Latias, one of Volcanion's best checks. Scizor, Krookodile, and Mega Aerodactyl can at least weaken Latias so that it can't switch into Volcanion later in the match. Another thing Volcanion really appreciates is entry hazard removal, (comma) which keeps it from being so it isn't easily worn down. Latias and Togekiss are two good examples; Latias resists Electric and has a Ground immunity, forming solid defensive synergy, while Togekiss can check Latias and Hydreigon and paralyze them so they can't check Hydreigon Volcanion later in the match.

Steam Eruption is a strong STAB attack that boasts great neutral coverage and power. Fire Blast is the secondary STAB attack and is used over Flamethrower because Volcanion really appreciates the extra power because of due to the lack of Choice Specs. Sludge Wave is the preferred coverage option in the third slot to hit Water-types as well as Latias neutrally, although but Sludge Bomb is also a good option to potentially poison potential switch-ins such as Suicune, Latias, and Slowking. Solar Beam is the primary option in the last move slot to hit a bulky Water-type for massive damage; for example, it always OHKOes maximum HP Suicune, Mega Blastoise, Slowbro, and Primarina. The second option in this slot is Superpower, which, (comma) in conjunction with Fightinium Z, (comma) can lure in and do massive damage to Blissey, (comma) while also OHKOing Hydreigon.

Set Details
========

Maximum Special Attack is used to hit as hard as possible, while and maximum Speed EVs allow Volcanion to at least Speed tie with opposing neutral-natured Mega Swampert and Volcanion. If you're using Z- Volcanion is running Superpower, a Rash nature should be used because you don't want to avoid lowering the damage output of Z-Superpower All-Out Pummeling (avoiding repetition), but if you aren't it isn't, then a Modest nature should be used. Water Absorb is Volcanion's only ability and is useful for switching into Water-type moves from Pokemon such as Primarina and Mega Blastoise. The item comes down to the move selection; Fightinium Z is used with Superpower, and Grassium Z with Solar Beam.

Usage Tips
========

This set has the freedom of switching up moves to lure in common defensive answers to Volcanion, so try not to reveal this set's lack of Choice Specs by doubling double switching on predicted switch-ins. Try not to let Volcanion get worn down from repeated Stealth Rock damage. Additionally, make use of Volcanion's Water immunity thanks to Water Absorb to try and gain back to restore any lost health on when against Pokemon such as Primarina and Empoleon.

Team Options
========

Grass-types make for excellent teammates, (comma) as they can absorb Electric- and Ground-type attacks that might be troubling for Volcanion to take and work especially well with Volcanion in conjunction with that have Fightinium Z. Celebi in particular is a great teammate because it can break past Water-types with Nasty Plot. Bulky Ground-types also make for solid teammates as because they have good type synergy with Volcanion, being immune to Electric-type moves and resisting Rock-type moves. They can also set up Stealth Rock, (comma) which helps for Volcanion to wear down its defensive answers that try to switch around Volcanion's its strong moves. Examples include Hippowdon, Krookodile, and Swampert. Pokemon that lure out Water-type moves make for good teammates, as Volcanion needs the health HP gained from Water Absorb. Examples include Hippowdon, Krookodile, and Scizor. Hazard control is much appreciated because Volcanion wants all the longevity it can get. Latias, Scizor, and Togekiss make for solid teammates in this regard. Latias and Togekiss are particularly effective teammates; Togekiss can check Hydreigon and Latias and paralyze them so that they can't outspeed Volcanion later in the match, while Latias resists Electric and is immune to Ground, having forming good defensive synergy with Volcanion. Since Volcanion typically baits in Water-types, Pokemon that like Water-types being lured and eliminated, (comma) such as Gliscor, Terrakion, and Krookodile, (comma) make for good teammates in conjunction with Grassium Z and Solar Beam Bloom Doom Volcanion. Pokemon that like Blissey being lured and eliminated, such as Raikou, Mega Blastoise, and Hydreigon, (comma) also make for good teammates.

Hidden Power Electric hits Water-types such as Suicune and Mantine for high amounts of damage, (comma) (keep the comma, but remove the comment) but it can be troublesome to be locked into.

Maximum Speed and Special Attack EVs allow Volcanion to hit as hard and as fast as possible, and a Modest nature is used because Volcanion needs all the wallbreaking power it can get. A Timid nature can be used to Speed tie with opposing Timid Volcanion, (rc) and outspeed Timid Primarina, (rc) and outspeed Adamant Mega Swampert (missed by QC but wouldn't it make more sense to state how it at worst Speed ties with Mega Swampert), but Timid Volcanion does miss out on guaranteed OHKOes on Pokemon such as Primarina. Volcanion's only ability is Water Absorb, which is useful for recovering health when switching in on a potential Water-type move. Choice Specs is used on this set to give Volcanion as much wallbreaking power as possible and allow Volcanion to 2HKO a majority of the metagame.

Usage Tips
========

Volcanion is best used as a wallbreaker to punch holes in the opponent's team for your team to take advantage of. Switching Volcanion directly into attacks can get it worn down from repeated Stealth Rock damage, but its bulk and typing does give it some switch-in opportunities to switch in.

========

Pokemon that appreciate Volcanion's ability to weaken walls, such as Terrakion, Mega Sharpedo, and Mega Swampert, also make for good teammates, (ac) since they appreciate Volcanion's ability to break past their counters and weaken shared checks. Another thing Volcanion really appreciates is entry hazard removal, (comma) (keep comma; remove comment) which keeps it from being easily worn down. Latias and Togekiss are two good examples; Latias resists Electric and has a Ground immunity, forming thus having solid defensive synergy with Volcanion, while Togekiss can check Latias and Hydreigon and paralyze them so they can't check Volcanion later in the match.

Set Details
========

The item comes down to the move selection; Fightinium Z is used with Superpower, and while Grassium Z with Solar Beam.

Usage Tips
========

========

Grass-types make for excellent teammates, as they can absorb Electric- and Ground-type attacks that might be troubling for Volcanion to take and work especially well with Volcanion that have Fightinium Z. Celebi, (ac) in particular, (ac) is a great teammate because it can break past Water-types with Nasty Plot. Latias and Togekiss are particularly effective teammates; Togekiss can check Hydreigon and Latias and paralyze them so that they can't outspeed Volcanion later in the match, while Latias resists Electric and is immune to Ground, forming thus having good defensive synergy with Volcanion.

=============

===================

**Fast Rock-types** Terrakion and Mega Aerodactyl are capable of outspeeding Volcanion and doing a lot of damage to it with super-(hyphen)effective (remove hyphen and comment) Rock-type moves.

You left in a few comments parantheses from the previous check. Be careful about that.
