[OVERVIEW]
Weavile takes its place in STABmons as a fast and strong physical attacker with outstanding coverage and plenty of interesting move choices. With an amazing Speed stat and tools in its movepool such as the crippling Knock Off, powerful Ice-type STAB attacks, a sleep-inducing move in Dark Void, two forms of priority, and excellent coverage options, Weavile becomes a threatening revenge killer that forces many switches. It can also take advantage of these switches with its access to Parting Shot and Pursuit, becoming a dangerous pivot and trapper. Unfortunately, the same typing that gives Weavile's STAB attacks excellent coverage in the metagame also curses it with weaknesses to the common attacking types Fairy, Fire, Fighting, Rock, and Steel, which means that Weavile struggles to switch in, especially when its abysmal bulk is also taken into consideration. The combination of Weavile's weakness to Stealth Rock, general frailty, and susceptibility to Life Orb recoil wears it down quickly and leaves it very vulnerable to priority.

Moves
========
Knock Off is a powerful Dark-type STAB attack that also removes the items of most foes, often crippling them. Icicle Crash hits prominent metagame threats such as Landorus-T and Thundurus super effectively. Dark Void induces sleep, which can temporarily remove one of Weavile's counters, and is generally a great move for hitting switch-ins so Weavile can fire off its attacks more easily. Parting Shot is a great option that allows Weavile to pivot out of counters in order to generate momentum for its team. Low Kick OHKOes any non-Chople Berry Tyranitar, OHKOes Bisharp, and comes close to an OHKO on Kyurem-B. Pursuit allows Weavile to support its team by picking off weakened foes such as Hoopa-U, Starmie, Latios, Latias, Gengar, and Meloetta.
Icicle Spear is an option over Icicle Crash that is weaker three-quarters of the time but allows Weavile to KO a Pokemon behind a Substitute such as Serperior. Sucker Punch is a fairly powerful priority attack and helps Weavile to pick off faster Pokemon and Choice Scarf users. Keep in mind that both Icicle Spear and Sucker Punch are new attacks, so they prevent Weavile from running Dark Void or Parting Shot. Ice Shard is mostly weaker than Sucker Punch, but it hits Landorus-T and Garchomp harder than Sucker Punch and KOes weakened Thundurus before they can use Thunder Wave. Finally, Swords Dance quickly boosts Weavile's power and helps it to break through defensive Pokemon more easily. It works very well alongside Dark Void.
Set Details
========
A simple maximum Attack and maximum Speed spread is used alongside a Jolly nature to give Weavile as much power and speed as possible, making the most of its excellent base Speed stat. Life Orb is used to boost the power of Weavile's attacks without locking it into one move, which is important, as Weavile is quite weak without it. While situational, Pressure allows Weavile to quickly drain the PP of moves such as Extreme Speed and Close Combat before it is KOed, and Pickpocket could have an undesirable effect in battle.
Usage Tips
========
Weavile is incredibly frail, so it cannot be switched into attacks apart from weak resisted hits and Psychic-type moves. Instead, Weavile should be brought in after a teammate has fainted or with the use of U-turn, Volt Switch, or Parting Shot. However, a good double switch into Weavile will give you plenty of momentum and opportunities to fire off attacks, in particular the extremely spammable Knock Off. Don't overestimate Weavile's power during battle, as its Attack stat is not very high. Mindlessly using Dark Void as soon as possible may seem like a good option, but you should be careful, as the opponent may have a dedicated Pokemon to sacrifice to sleep. Keep Weavile away from status, as burns prevent it from breaking through opposing Pokemon, paralysis takes away its excellent Speed, and poison wears it down very quickly in tandem with Life Orb recoil. Weavile also has to avoid all priority attacks because of its terrible bulk.
Team Options
========
Rapid Spin or Defog users are great teammates, as Weavile's opportunities to switch in are limited when Stealth Rock is up. Pokemon such as Starmie, Excadrill, and Stoutland can utilize Rapid Spin, while viable Defoggers include Latios, Latias, and Scizor. Weavile appreciates entry hazards being up on the opposing side, as it forces switches easily with the threat of Dark Void and likes having its foes worn down. Terrakion, Garchomp, and Klefki are good examples of Stealth Rock or Spikes users that fit on offensive teams. Weavile naturally detests Fighting-types, making Pokemon that can get rid of them like Latios, Alakazam, and Landorus-T great partners. Landorus-T also helps defeat Steel-types with its powerful Ground-type STAB attacks, as do other Ground-types such as Excadrill and Garchomp. Similarly, offensive Fire-types such as Heatran and both of Charizard's Mega Evolutions can beat Steel-types such as Skarmory, Ferrothorn, and Scizor and manage most Fairy-types. Although rare, offensive users of Heal Bell and Aromatherapy such as Mega Diancie are helpful for curing bothersome status without relinquishing offensive momentum. Pokemon such as Mega Charizard Y, Terrakion, and Mega Medicham enjoy Weavile's ability to Pursuit trap Psychic-types such as Mew and Latios. Pursuit also eliminates Ghost-types, which Extreme Speed users such as Ursaring hugely appreciate. Volt Switch, U-turn, and Parting Shot users are generally excellent for getting Weavile onto the field safely; Weavile can also fit into these chains with its own Parting Shot. Some prominent pivots are Landorus-T, Thundurus, Scizor, and Mega Scizor.

Other Options
=============
Choice Band allows Weavile to quickly deal large amounts of damage, revenge kill more Pokemon with stronger priority attacks, and cripple defensive Pokemon with Switcheroo. The main drawback of this set is that an opponent can easily take advantage of a Choice-locked Weavile. Dread Plate or Icicle Plate allows Weavile to boost one of its STAB moves, while Expert Belt can be used to boost super effective moves. While these items don't have any recoil, the general loss in power is noticeable. Poison Jab and Iron Tail allow Weavile to lure in and heavily damage the Fairy-types that normally check it. Poison Jab comfortably 2HKOes Azumarill, 2HKOes most Clefable, and OHKOes most variants of Mega Gardevoir. Iron Tail lands a more solid 2HKO on Clefable and OHKOes Mega Diancie, but its shaky accuracy makes it unreliable. Taunt allows Weavile to shut down defensive Pokemon, as well as stop slower Sleep Talk users that switch into Dark Void.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Fighting-types**: Weavile has a double weakness to Fighting-type attacks, which means that Pokemon such as Terrakion, Mega Medicham, Breloom, and Lucario can quickly KO it with Close Combat, High Jump Kick, or Mach Punch. Most of these Pokemon resist Weavile's Dark-type attacks, and Terrakion and Lucario can even take advantage of them to activate Justified. However, most of these Pokemon cannot switch in, especially not into Dark Void.
**Steel-types**: Weavile is weak to Steel-type attacks, and with its terrible bulk, they generally KO it. Choice Scarf Heatran will outspeed Weavile and OHKO it with either of its STAB attacks, and it can also switch into Dark Void if it is running Sleep Talk. Defensive Heatran also doesn't mind Knock Off too much, but it cannot tank Low Kick easily. Jirachi hates both Knock Off and Sucker Punch, but Choice Scarf variants outspeed Weavile and OHKO it with Iron Head. Mega Scizor easily switches into Weavile with its great physical bulk and doesn't mind Knock Off, while regular Scizor can also switch in but dislikes having its item removed by Knock Off. Both can then OHKO with Bullet Punch. Choice Scarf, Sand Rush, and Shift Gear variants of Excadrill can outspeed Weavile and KO it with a Steel-type move of choice. Skarmory and Ferrothorn easily wall Weavile with their amazing physical bulk and neutrality to its attacks.
**Fairy-types**: Azumarill resists Weavile's STAB attacks and threatens back with its own STAB moves or Extreme Speed. However, it dislikes Poison Jab. Clefable can avoid the 2HKO from any attack but Poison Jab or Iron Tail and KO with Moonblast after only about 20% of prior damage. Mega Diancie is only OHKOed by Iron Tail, and it can OHKO Weavile back with one of its STAB attacks.
**Priority Users**: Sableye moves before Weavile thanks to Prankster and can put it to sleep with Dark Void or cripple it with Will-O-Wisp. Klefki can also cripple Weavile with its priority Thunder Wave. Fake Out + Extreme Speed users such as Stoutland and Ursaring easily KO Weavile thanks to its extreme physical frailty, sometimes not even needing to use Fake Out for a KO. Water Shuriken from Azumarill and Gyarados is also a notable priority move that can KO Weavile. Most Bullet Punch and Mach Punch users are naturally very troublesome too, as they hit Weavile super effectively.
