[OVERVIEW]

Snorlax's incredible bulk paired with solid setup via Curse and recovery in the forms of Recycle + Iapapa Berry and Rest allows it to be a niche setup sweeper in UU. However, Snorlax's extremely lackluster Defense prevents it from sweeping most teams comfortably, as it still gets destroyed by Fighting-type attacks even after boosting once or twice. Taunt users such as Mandibuzz beat Snorlax sets with any sort of setup, as without boosts Snorlax has trouble breaking through most Pokemon.

move 3: Recycle
move 4: Fire Punch / Earthquake
item: Iapapa Berry
ability: Gluttony
nature: Careful
evs: 252 HP / 152 Def / 108 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Curse lets Snorlax take hits more easily from physical attackers like Mega Aerodactyl and break past Pokemon like Gliscor. Facade allows Snorlax to overpower Pokemon hoping to cripple it with status such as Gliscor and helps it switch into Thunder Wave and Scald more easily thanks to the boost Facade gains when Snorlax is statused. Recycle in conjunction with Gluttony and Iapapa Berry gives Snorlax a reliable way to recover throughout a match. Fire Punch lets Snorlax hit threatening Steel-types such as Scizor and Cobalion on the switch, while Earthquake allows it to hit the majority of Steel-types super effectively while also hitting threatening Pokemon such as Infernape and Chandelure.

Set Details
========

Gluttony works well with Recycle, letting Snorlax activate its Iapapa Berry once it gets below 50% HP. The listed EVs allow Snorlax to avoid the 2HKO from Choice Specs Primarina and avoid being OHKOed by Infernape's unboosted Close Combat after Stealth Rock damage. It can also tank All-Out Pummeling from Cobalion after a single Curse.

Usage Tips
========

Be extremely careful when playing around Toxic users such as Gliscor, as once inflicted with Toxic poison, Snorlax has no chance of setting up Curse and gets worn down extremely quickly. Also, when unsure about whether or not the opponent has Toxic on Pokemon like Gliscor, make sure to scout for it. Furthermore, utilize Snorlax as a paralysis and burn absorber to prevent the opponent from playing around it with Toxic and boost Facade simultaneously. Utilize Snorlax's bulk to handle most special attackers such as Nidoking throughout a game and send it in for free setup against walls lacking Toxic. Attack offensive checks such as Mienshao and Cobalion by chipping them down with the appropriate attack as they switch in, as once these are gone, Snorlax has much greater breathing room to set up late-game. Take caution when switching into potential Trick users such as Latias and Chandelure, as being locked into a move will render Snorlax useless and prevent it from having any sort of recovery. Take advantage of entry hazards by manipulating them so that Snorlax can activate Iapapa Berry on its switch in. Avoid Knock Off from Pokemon such as Scizor and Krookodile at all cost, as without its Iapapa Berry, Snorlax's ability to set up and check special attackers becomes null. Play around Taunt users such as Mandibuzz by switching to an offensive teammate that can handle it efficiently, as Snorlax gets completely shut down by Taunt.

Team Options
========

Fairy-types like Azumarill, Sylveon, and Mega Altaria deal with Fighting- and Dark-type Pokemon that beat Snorlax with Fighting-type STAB moves and Knock Off, respectively. Clerics such as Sylveon and Togekiss are important teammates for this Snorlax set because if Snorlax gets inflicted with Toxic poison, it's nearly useless. Pokemon such as Gliscor, which can sponge status, mainly Toxic poison, can help mitigate Snorlax's weakness to Toxic. Gliscor can also provide a Knock Off switch-in and a Toxic sponge as well. Magneton can trap threatening Steel-types like Scizor for Snorlax. Having a Knock Off switch-in is vital for this set, so Pokemon such as Mega Altaria and Cobalion can turn out to be great teammates. The former can also provide Defog and Heal Bell support for Snorlax. Toxic support from Pokemon such as Tentacruel is extremely helpful for wearing down threatening Taunt users such as Jellicent. Hazard removers like Tentacruel and Scizor are helpful, since they can remove hazards that chip Snorlax quickly.

[SET]
name: RestTalk
move 1: Curse
move 2: Return / Body Slam
move 3: Rest
move 4: Sleep Talk / Fire Punch / Earthquake
item: Leftovers
ability: Thick Fat
nature: Careful
evs: 252 HP / 152 Def / 108 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Curse is Snorlax's reliable form of setup, boosting its Attack and Defense stats simultaneously. Return is Snorlax's strongest, most spammable attack, trading Body Slam's chance of paralysis for a higher damage output. Rest gives Snorlax a reliable form of recovery and allows it to set up multiple times a game. Sleep Talk lets Snorlax set up against foes while asleep. Fire Punch allows Snorlax to chip threatening Steel- and Fighting-types such as Scizor and Cobalion on the switch, and Earthquake hits the same few targets but misses out on hitting Scizor hard on the switch. Earthquake also hits most Steel-types like Doublade and Cobalion harder than Fire Punch.

Set Details
========

Leftovers gives Snorlax another way to heal throughout a match. Thick Fat lets Snorlax switch into opposing Fire- and Ice-type attacks from Pokemon such as Nidoking, Kyurem, and Moltres. The listed EVs allow Snorlax to avoid the 2HKO from Choice Specs Primarina and avoid being OHKOed by Infernape's unboosted Close Combat after Stealth Rock damage. It can also tank All-Out Pummeling from Cobalion after a single Curse.

Usage Tips
========

Utilize Snorlax's immense special bulk to switch in and set up on special attackers such as Nidoking and Scarf Hydreigon. Also capitalize on Snorlax's ability to beat passive Pokemon such as Blissey one-on-one by setting up on them. Make sure to weaken offensive checks lacking recovery such as Flame Orb Heracross by chipping them down with a STAB move as they switch in. If you are running Body Slam, try fishing for paralysis against offensive switch-ins such as Mienshao. Utilize Snorlax's ability to absorb all status for teammates by switching it into status users such as Gliscor and Seismitoad. As alluded to before, don't try to set up with Snorlax early-game. Instead, use it as a bulky pivot that can absorb status until most of the counterplay your opponent has to it has been properly taken care of. Don't stay in against Taunt Pokemon such as Jellicent. Instead, use the opportunity to offensively pressure your opponent's team by switching to a teammate that threatens it.

Team Options
========

Pursuit trappers such as Krookodile are great teammates for Snorlax sets that opt for Sleep Talk over coverage, as they can trap Ghost-types that Snorlax can't hit. It's also very important to be able to hit Steel-types if you opt to run Sleep Talk, so teammates such as Cobalion and Infernape fit nicely on teams running this set. Pokemon like Tentacruel and Latias that can beat the Fighting-types that Snorlax fears are helpful teammates. These two can also help remove entry hazards that Snorlax is susceptible to. Clerics such as Sylveon are great teammates, as they can wake Snorlax with Heal Bell, giving it more room to play freely instead of relying on Sleep Talk to pick the desired move. Toxic Spikes Pokemon such as Tentacruel can prove to be great teammates, wearing down checks and counters such as Quagsire with poison.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Choice Band and an EV spread of 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 SpD allows Snorlax to power through would-be switch-ins such as Cobalion and Quagsire. However, this set is mostly outclassed by other wallbreakers such as Choice Band Bewear, as all that Snorlax has over it is access to Pursuit. Whirlwind lets Snorlax phaze special setup sweepers like Latias and Suicune. Belly Drum allows Snorlax to boost its attack to extreme levels. Normalium Z allows RestTalk Snorlax to switch into Knock Off and Trick users without worry of being crippled by either move but misses out on the passive recovery that Leftovers provides. Running Toxic over Sleep Talk allows you to beat Unaware Pokemon like Quagsire.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ghost-types**: Ghost-types such as Jellicent and Doublade completely wall Curse / Rest / Sleep Talk Snorlax, as they are immune to its only attack. Jellicent in particular completely shuts down all Snorlax sets thanks to Taunt, and Doublade can bypass potential Defense boosts thanks to Sacred Sword. Other Ghost-types such as Chandelure, Gengar, and Decidueye counter Snorlax depending on which coverage move it runs.

**Knock Off**: Knock Off cripples Iapapa Berry Snorlax, as without the item it has no way to heal.

**Strong Fighting-type Coverage**: Even a slightly chipped Snorlax stands no chance against Fighting-type attacks from Pokemon such as Choice Band Scizor, Cobalion, Terrakion, and Flame Orb Heracross.

**Taunt Users**: Snorlax gets completely stopped by Taunt users such as Mandibuzz and Jellicent, which can prevent it from setting up or healing HP.

**Toxic Poison**: Once the Recycle + Curse Snorlax has been Toxic poisoned by opposing Pokemon such as Gliscor, it has no chance to set up later in the game and gets easily worn down by it throughout a game.

**Unaware Pokemon**: Unaware Pokemon completely wall Snorlax, and Quagsire can even use it to set up with its own Curse or cripple it with Toxic.

This is an unofficial QC so I would wait for a QC team member to go over this before implementing anything :P

Overview
  • "Its very usable Attack allows it to run diverse offensive sets such as Belly Drum and Choice Band to surprise opponents expecting a more passive Curse set."
You don't wanna mention Other Options stuff in the Overview. You can say that its usable Attack stat, together with a decent STAB make it an offensive threat after a boost.

  • Snorlax has access to three extremely solid abilities in Gluttony, Immunity, and Thick Fat. Gluttony allows Snorlax to run a set of Recycle Iapapa berry viably which gives it more reliable recovery as compared to Curse RestTalk at the cost of being vulnerable to Toxic poison. Immunity allows Snorlax to further bolster its position in the tier as a massive defensive threat, as it can't be crippled by Toxic. Thick Fat allows Snorlax to support teammates weak to Fire- and Ice-type moves such as Scizor.
I can't think of any reason to run Immunity in UU, so don't mention that. Explain what merits and demerits both Glutty + Iapapa Berry and Thick Fat + Rest sets have.

PapaLax

Moves
  • Explain what Curse does to Snorlax and give more examples of what Snorlax can overpower.
  • The description of Facade is a bit empty; describe why Facade is Snorlax's go-to STAB move (allows it to take advantage of status, switch into Scalds with the hope of being burned so it won't be Toxic'd later on, etc).
  • I'd change Recycle's description to something like "Recycle allows Snorlax to make repetitive use of Iapapa Berry, acting like a pseudo-Recover thanks to Gluttony".
  • I'd also say that Earthquake also hits Chandelure which otherwise completely walls Snorlax.
Set Details
  • Include Gluttony here.
Usage Tips
  • Explain better what Snorlax sets-up on; it can not only set up on walls lacking Toxic. It can also set up on most Special attackers that don't 2HKO it, such as Nidoking and Hydreigon.
  • Take caution when switching into potential Trick users such as Rotom-W, Latias, and Chandelure as being locked into a move will render Snorlax useless.
Mention how many Pokémon can potentially take advantage of a locked Snorlax and set-up on it.
  • Avoid Knock Off from Pokemon such as Scizor and Krookodile at all cost, as without its Figy Berry its ability to set up and check special attackers becomes null.
You should replace Figy Berry with Iapapa Berry lol. Also, just say that without its Berry, it loses its only form of recovery.

Team Options
  • Snorlax's massive weakness to Fighting-type attacks allows Pokemon such as Azumarill and Mega Altaria to have great synergy with it as they cover Snorlax's weakness.
Rephrase this to something like "Fairy-types, such as Azumarill and Mega Altaria deal with Fighting- and Dark-type Pokémon, that threaten Snorlax with a powerful super-effective move or a potential Knock Off, respectively".
  • Add more options to clerics; such as Togekiss.
  • Pokemon which can sponge Toxic poison, such as Gliscor, can help mitigate Snorlax's weakness to Toxic.
Rephrase this to something like "Status-absorbers, such as Gliscor and Celebi, can absorb detrimental status, mainly Toxic, for Snorlax".
  • Because Snorlax is susceptible to all hazard types (tspikes hurt!!!), hazard removers make amazing partners. Add that c:
  • Mention Pokémon who beat Unaware walls.
CurseLax

Moves
  • Snorlax allows it to maximize its damage output with Return without taking recoil from stronger attacks such as Double-Edge. However, Body Slam can annoy the opponent with full Paralyze, allowing Snorlax to pick up free turns.
I would rephrase this into something like "Return is Snorlax's most spammable and reliable go-to STAB move. Body Slam is a weaker alternative that may inflict Paralysis upon the opponent, potentially giving Snorlax free turns".
  • Sleep Talk lets Snorlax set up against foes while asleep. Fire Punch allows Snorlax to chip threatening Steel- and Fighting-types such as Scizor and Cobalion on the switch in and Earthquake hits the same few targets but misses out on hitting Scizor hard on the switch in and can't hit Ghosts such as Mismagius.
Should Mismagius really be mentioned here? It is not viable nor ever seen.

Team Options
  • It is unclear why those Pursuit trappers make good partners with Snorlax.
  • Mention Pokémon who beat Fighting-types for Snorlax.
  • Snorlax is susceptible to every type of hazard; mention hazard removers here.
  • Mention Pokémon who beat Unaware walls.
Other Options
  • Choice Band: mention that Snorlax is outclassed by other wallbreakers, such as Bewear.
  • Assault Vest: the standard Snorlax sets allow it to beat Primarina and Nidoking more reliably than Assault Vest. In the standard sets, Snorlax has recovery and is never 2HKO'd by any of the aforementioned Pokémon moves barring hax and Superpower on the latter.
  • Snorlax can utilize Toxic to beat Unaware users that otherwise completely wall it.
Checks and Counters
  • Ghost Types: Mention that Jellicent shuts down even PapaLax with Taunt and Doublade doesn't care about Snorlax's defense boosts thanks to Sacred Sword.
  • Toxic Poison: Mention Pokémon that often carry Toxic.
:D

Before anything, if you're going to tag QC to do checks, at least make sure it remains updated (looking at the Rotom-W mentions here. Remove them.)

Overview
  • First line: "solid setup options". The only one worth mentioning here is Curse, so rephrase a little. Rest isn't reliably recovery. I wouldn't oversell Snorlax by saying it's one of the most reliable setup sweepers in the tier because it really isn't. Rest isn't reliable like I said, and the Recycle set isn't that hard to pressure honestly, especially if you pack any Knock Off user.
  • Second and third lines: Remove it (refer to am checker's comment)
  • Fourth line: I think the Speed on Snorlax isn't a big deal at all. It's slow, yes, but it's not a big factor in terms of Snorlax's sweeping capabilities. The low BASE Defense is good, since it needs to set up quite a bit in order to take hits properly. One of the biggest issues with Snorlax is that it's fairly weak without setting up and each set has its own limitations in terms of setting up reliably.
PapaLax

For the record, I'm not going to change the spread right now, since I'm not too sure on what's optimal for it either, but that's really easy to change even in later stages.

Moves
  • Curse: the Defense boost is just as important to Snorlax as the Attack boost is, so mention that and what hits you're able to take better with the boosts, as well as both boosts letting Snorlax take on opposing setup sweepers that try to beat it one-on-one. (to am checker: you're gonna need to be more specific regarding what you want him to elaborate on here)
  • Facade: am checker's explanation here is good. It's nice to answer questions that readers will ask, in this case being the reason for running this over something like Body Slam or Return (aside from the obvious taking advantage of status inducers, the main thing is accounting for the lack of Rest, since both sets dick status inducers anyway, with this one being afraid of Toxic more).
  • Recycle: you'd talk about this in Set Details, but just add a part where it says "in conjunction with Gluttony" or anything of the like. (to am checker: this is an unnecessary lengthy yet not very clear phrasing you're suggesting)
  • Refer to the am check for the Earthquake point
Set Details
  • I'm sure something can be said about the EVs actually doing something so do some calcs to see if you can find something before we properly decide on a spread.
Usage Tips
  • Seismitoad isn't that relevant of an example anymore with Rotom-W not being around in the tier. Just use like Gliscor as an example.
  • I wouldn't say to actively let Snorlax get hit with a status move. Phrase it in a way that says it can act as a solid status absorber, since burns affecting Fire Punch and paralysis causing you to potentially lose a turn can lose you the game in certain circumstances. Just note that if you're relying on Snorlax to win late-game, letting it take other status may be necessary.
  • weaker special attackers -> most special attackers. Nidoking is not even close to being a weaker one. It still hits hard as hell.
  • Mention the use of entry hazards that are up to get into Iapapa Berry range if needed.
  • What the am checker said about what exactly makes Snorlax useless if it gets tricked is good, as well as the Iapapa Berry bit.
Team Options
  • I think in general, the points can be compounded better. Fairy-types are nice for both Fighting-types and Knock Off. Gliscor can provide Defog support, a Knock Off switch-in, and also a status absorber.
  • I don't think Healing Wish users are all that great considering the types of teams Snorlax would fit on. You're better off using that moveslot for something else on these bulkier teams, and Snorlax is a lot more self sufficient than your usual Healing Wish targes.
  • Implement the am check for this section except for the part about Unaware walls, which is pretty arbitrary for literally any setup sweeper. Talk about wallbreakers if anything.
CurseLax (Revise the name; both sets run Curse)

Moves
  • Refer to am check for the Return point
  • Rest isn't reliable, but it's a form of recovery that lets Snorlax sponge hits early-game even before setting up and lets it act as a status absorber.
  • Like am checker said, don't mention Mismagius here. The only things you realistically miss out on with Earthquake are not hitting Jellicent and like Decidueye not as hard. The most relevant Ghost-types are hit super effectively by Earthquake (Doublade, Gengar, and Chandelure), so that's something you can mention. Honestly, I feel like Earthquake should be slashed before Fire Punch on this set, but I'll leave that to future checkers.
(side note that I like your usage tips for this set)

Team Options
  • Refer to am check
Other Options
  • all the options there have to be supported by a reason why it's not on the main set, like how the am checker mentioned that Bewear outclasses Snorlax with the Choice Band set, although Snorlax getting access to Pursuit is pretty nifty ngl, so probably mention that specifically. For Normalium Z, just mention the benefits of Leftovers with the role Snorlax plays. There's the whole opportunity cost thing but on Snorlax, the Z-Crystal is more of a filler than anything anyway.
  • Remove AV completely. I see no merit in this. It could work decently as a Pursuit trapper, but the Choice Band set does that better anyway, since you're actually doing damage to Latias, and Snorlax gets worn down way too much with no recovery to justify this. To top it all off, if I'm going to use an AV Pokemon like this, I'd rather just use Alolan Muk and cover the weakness to like Nidoking some other way.
  • am checker's Toxic point is alright, but say that it's only possibly viable on the RestTalk set. Not having a second coverage move on the Recycle set is asking for trouble.
Checks and Counters
  • implement the am check for this
  • Ghost-types can be expanded upon. Each Ghost-type has their own niche in beating Snorlax, so this should be looked properly. Adding to what you have, Flash Fire Chandelure (although that's probably the worst ability right now) wall any set not running Earthquake, non-Flash Fire Chandelure and Alolan Marowak cause issues for non-Earthquake sets like how Marowak can set up on it. Decidueye take on non-Fire Punch sets decently well, and Gengar can Taunt the RestTalk variants.

Overview should elaborate on Snorlax's strengths and weaknesses a bit more.

If the EV spreads on any set do anything specific, that should be explained.

The RestTalk set's Moves section should explain that Earthquake hits most Steel-types harder, with the exception of Scizor. The current phrasing makes it sound as if Earthquake is an inferior option in all respects.

Remove the mention of Rotom-W.

QC 3/3 after that.

Taunt users such as Mandibuzz beat Snorlax sets with any sort of setup, as without boosts Snorlax has trouble breaking through most Pokemon.

move 2: Facade

move 4: Fire Punch / Earthquake
item: Iapapa Berry

nature: Careful
evs: 252 HP / 152 Def / 108 SpD

Curse lets Snorlax take hits more easily from physical attackers like Mega Aerodactyl and break past Pokemon like Gliscor. Facade allows Snorlax to overpower Pokemon hoping to cripple it with status such as Gliscor and helps it switch into Thunder Wave and Scald more easily thanks to the boost Facade gains when Snorlax is statused. Recycle in conjunction with Gluttony and Iapapa Berry gives Snorlax a reliable way to recover throughout a match. Fire Punch lets Snorlax hit threatening Steel-types such as Scizor and Cobalion on the switch in, while Earthquake allows it to hit the majority of Steel-types super effectively while also hitting threatening Pokemon such as Infernape and Chandelure.

Set Details
========

Gluttony works well with Recycle, letting Snorlax activate its Iapapa Berry once it gets below 50% HP. The listed EVs allow Snorlax to avoid the 2HKO from Choice Specs Primarina and avoid being OHKOed by Infernape's (changed apostrophe) unboosted Close Combat after Stealth Rock damage. It can also tank All-Out Pummeling from Cobalion after a single Curse.

Usage Tips
========

Utilize Snorlax's (changed apostrophe) bulk to handle most special attackers such as Nidoking throughout a game and send it in for free setup against walls lacking Toxic. Attack offensive checks such as Mienshao and Cobalion by chipping them down with the appropriate attack as they switch in, as once these are gone, (AC) Snorlax has much greater breathing room to set up late-game.

========

Fairy-types like Azumarill, Sylveon, and Mega Altaria deal with Fighting- and Dark-type Pokemon that beat Snorlax with Fighting-type STAB moves and Knock Off, respectively. Clerics such as Sylveon and Togekiss are important teammates for this Snorlax set because if Snorlax gets inflicted with Toxic poison, (AC) it's nearly useless. The lattformer can also provide Defog and Heal Bell support for Snorlax as well.

Curse is Snorlax's reliable form of setup, boosting its Attack and Defense stats simultaneously. Return is Snorlax's strongest, most spammable attack, trading Body Slam's chance of paralysis for a higher damage output. Rest gives Snorlax a reliable form of recovery and allows it to set up multiple times a game. Sleep Talk lets Snorlax set up against foes while asleep. Fire Punch allows Snorlax to chip threatening Steel- and Fighting-types such as Scizor and Cobalion on the switch in, and Earthquake hits the same few targets but misses out on hitting Scizor hard on the switch in. Earthquake also hits most Steel-types like Doublade and Cobalion harder than Fire Punch.

Set Details
========

Leftovers gives Snorlax another way to heal throughout a match. Thick Fat lets Snorlax switch into opposing Fire- and Ice-type attacks from Pokemon such as Nidoking, Kyurem, and Moltres.

Usage Tips
========

Utilize Snorlax's immense special bulk to switch in and set up on special attackers such as Nidoking and Choice Scarf Hydreigon. Also capitalize on Snorlax's ability to beat passive Pokemon such as Blissey one-on-one by setting up on them. Make sure to weaken offensive checks lacking recovery such as Flame Orb Heracross by chipping ithem down with a STAB move as ithey switches in. If you are running Body Slam, try fishing for paralysis against offensive switch-ins such as Mienshao. Utilize this Snorlax's ability to absorb all status for teammates by switching it into status users such as Gliscor and Seismitoad. As alluded to before, don't try to set up with Snorlax in the early-game.

========

Other Options
=============

===================

**Ghost-types**: Ghost-types such as Jellicent and Doublade completely wall Curse / Rest / Sleep Talk Snorlax, as they are immune to its only attack. Jellicent in particular completely shuts down all Snorlax sets thanks to Taunt, and Doublade can bypass potential dDefense boosts thanks to Sacred Sword.

**Unaware Pokemon**: Unaware Pokemon such as Quagsire completely wall Snorlax, (AC) and Quagsire can even use it to set up with its own Curse or cripple it with Toxic.
