Lemme drop sum thoughts

eternally 59 vs 41 zuku: i lowkey feel Bad for doubting zukushiku, heatman has honestly impressed in both Games so far even If 1-1, eternally should be 2-0 per se but stuff happens. This Game looks Super exciting on paper (Like basically all nu Games this week and in General) im giving a slight Edge to eternally probably because im biased but eternally Just seems to be on top of the metagame
I expect some major flames

CB JOSE ALTUVE 60 vs 40 lax: lax playing His First Game this SPL is Sure to Put Up a big effort, but i feel Like meeps has the Edge in raw Skill at the game

Tangy Teams pls

Kush 45 vs 55 pohjis: zvs Teams Look quite Nice, the usual flaws His Teams Seem to have, kush might try to Take Advantage of that, on the contrary neccmen might aim for that as Well, edge to pohjis for the momentum i feel He has going into this week

Earth 51 vs 49 hootman: hootie seems hardly motivated and we might See some whack looking CT again, this can Go either way i feel, but giving slight Edge to earth cuz He makes a very motivated Impression

ict 50 vs 50 teddeh: this is the Most exciting mu imo, in Terms of playing i rate These 2 Guys the highest, teddeh might Bring some Nu Beta Teams and ICT could Bring smth that gets solod by toge, but I'd say this is the Match to Look Out for

Excuse the Formating i wrote this on Phone cuz eternally wanted predicts..

SM NU: Eternally 55-45 Zukushiku - eternally seems to be back from his emo phase and ready to pick up some more wins. zuku brought a nice team and played well last week so def not gonna count him out, but i think eternally just has more experience + wants this a bit more. i think this is the highlight of the week as both players are very capable and will bring some fun teams for the new meta.
SM NU: ict 55-45 Teddeh - giving this one to ict since i wasnt as impressed by teddeh last week in terms of playing, and ict played well even if his team just lost to toge.
SM NU: Kushalos 60-40 Pohjis - kushs teams have been really nice and hes been piloting them well, even if he couldnt hit a fire blast. pohjis is coming off a win though, even if i dont think the game was as good as it could have been it is something. should be a fairly close game, but i do think kush will edge it out.
SM NU: cb jose altuve 55-45 lax - meeps is coming off of two wins, even if one wasnt the cleanest, and lax is hopping off the bench to play the person hes played with / tested the most with in nu. should be an interesting game.

i love Eternally

the basic idea w/ this build was to go with either a strong flying type in order to take advantage of snagas low checks to them in his games from snake / open. the build is honestly pretty standard from there, a brolix defensive backbone to handle things like klinklang / emboar. mowtom aka best hazard control pre-drops in order to pressure all the rockers. sneasel + boar for the offensive presence, and ability to clean late game. (funnily enough Teddeh had 5/6 of these guys in his week 1 team as well). the spreads are fairly standard, curse lax bc the teams a bit brav weak, originally i had z hydro bro on here but earth was feeling a bit weak to mala so he made it bugz before the game. the viv spread is something i came up w/ when someone pointed out viv can be ev'd to live a few hits since you normally dont need that much spa anyway. this specific spread is to live both cb sneasels ice shard & scarf rotoms tbolt (at +1) so you can beat both of them. the teams a fairly standard take on balance pre-shifts, but i believe the team was fairly good and did what it needed to in the game.

i had been wanting to build w/ sd kabu since seis rose since its a really potent sweeper w/ weak armor (think slightly worse barb). the rest of the team is based around supporting it, i originally started with the idea of wanting to use dug this week since you can do sludge dug + sd kabu for some fun, but it ended up deviating from that quite a bit bc having two frail "sweepers" esp w/ dug as the rocker wasnt working out in testing, so i played around w/ diff options like don / pilo until i realized lix was just the best fit here. dual status rotom is hot rn imo, being able to get the para off on things like whims / boar / emboar, which are things that usually come in once you reveal its wisp / hex is so nice for a kabu sweep late game w/o having to worry about offensive venu / whims beating you w/o a speed boost. alt bc its the best hazard control w/ mowtom gone imo, whims because i wanted a pivot into bulky waters that wasnt rotom, and scarf phox just as a fast cleaner. regarding set choices, growth chloro whims was bc i was scared of the sun mu and i didnt feel you really needed a diff move, so growth just worked best. originally had giga > eball, but the power diff is just huge esp when you wanna use it vs lix and co. ice beam alt for winning the alt wars that are becoming super common atm, tho flame is a fine choice for this team as well. overall this teams fairly solid and has a good matchup vs a majority of the meta imo, and had good odds to win in a tricky endgame vs ict as well.

might drop some thoughts on how ppl have been doing pre-mids as well, but overall some good quality games this year.

IT'S FINK DUMBASS
SM NU: lax vs Kushalos
SM NU: Evan. vs cb jose altuve
SM NU: ict vs Z+V
SM NU: Teddeh vs Eternally
SM NU: Earth vs Zukushiku

I was meaning to post but i generally forgot this week so i'll drop a few thoughts about nu in spl so far:

Generally speaking there have been a couple of records that have surprised me. Raiders NU being 3-1 and playing really well has impressed me a lot, Zukushiku proving a lot of haters wrong so far being 2-1, but there's still 5 games left in the season, but from what i saw from his games, he has played very well.
On the other side of the spectrum, Eternally and Hootie being 1-3 respectively was also a shock as they were ranked rather high on the rankings, so i'm not quite sure what is needing to change. Obviously Evan stepping in for Hootie in week 5 has happened but Eternally has no backup if he manages to lose this week, and if scooters lose the week (hopefully hehe) then he may just tilt extremely badly.

My highlight games so far:
Eternally vs Zukushiku week 3 - this game was a fast paced hyper offense battle that in the end came down to some innovative sets and rolls to decide the game. When Eternally had the 5-4 advantage at the start of the game that he played for by getting the kill on the slowbro and revenging the sneasel, zuku managed to claw his way back into the game using rotom as his main source of momentum. Overall Eternally's lack of clicking stealth rocks cost him the game as he managed to lose out to a low roll from a mold breaker eq onto rotom, but a decent and exciting contest.
0 Atk Mold Breaker Druddigon Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Rotom: 208-246 (86.3 - 102%) -- 12.5% chance to OHKO

Lax vs cb jose altuve week 3 - This game was packed with top plays and quirky innovative sets such as z-focus blast heliolisk, fire blast slowbro, lycanroc midnight + scyther somehow managing to beat a steelix. This game was played well, with meeps having the match up at preview, however when overpredicting with steelix dying to an all out pummelling, that cost him the game which opened up the possibility for scyther to do something. However CM slowbro during mid game cause a lot of scares for lax, having toxic lycanroc midnight saved him. In the end, it came down to what z-move klinklang carried, luckily for lax it was it was corkscrew crash and slowbro managed to chew the hit and ohko with the fire blast innovation.

Teddeh vs ict week 3 - This game is probably the closest game so far in the first 4 weeks and I will explain why from my own personal pov (excuse my bias also as I was playing this game too). From preview, samurott had an excellent match up vs my team as 5/6 mons were hit super effectively by potential sd samurott coverage and venusaur was needed to check it. Nevertheless, when i choked away my venusaur by risking the ice punch when slowbro hard walled the av hariyama, it was down to me to play extremely aggressively to attempt to get back into the game. I did this by clicking EQ 3 times from piloswine, firstly on an altaria hitting the hariyama, secondly on the switch out into whimsicott, then again predicting the pivot into samurott on the ice shard which allowed me to 2 hit ko the rotter as I chewed the hydro pump. In hindsight, i assumed that it might have been a scarf samurott or something similar, but chewing the hit meant that it gave me a solid chance in that game. From that point onwards, it was my goal to attempt to not let klinklang setup at any point as I had theorized that Z-wild charge would have been a good option vs me from my team choices in previous weeks. Around turn 22 in the game, it was still highly in ict's favour as he had a 85% rhydon to check both emboar / archeops and a full health altaria and klinklang ready to sweep at any point it's given the chance to setup. However doubling into archeops on altaria meant that i could acro on the predicted toxic to put it in 2hko range, then eq on the rhydon switch in gave me a chance to 2 hit ko it. At which point when ict knew if he spammed stealth rock, he could put slowbro / emboar in a range where they both 100% died to his coverage moves on klinklang, i knew i had to somehow get rid of the stealth rocks. By pivoting into slowbro, he knows that he can't use klinklang to setup on bro, so doubling back into archeops to defog away the rocks was a play that gave me the best chance of winning the game as rhydon was in eq range. He used a defeatist archeops as setup fodder for klinklang which forced a tricky end game. going into a 91% emboar meant that it 100% lived a potential frustration and forced the z-move if it had it, however it turned out to be giga impact which indeed ohko'd emboar, giving 1 free turn for slowbro to attempt the 2hit ko. At which point i managed to chew the gigavolt havoc as i managed to defog away the rocks, allowing me to kill the klinklang and live on 1%.
+1 252+ Atk Klinklang Gigavolt Havoc (175 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Slowbro: 352-416 (89.3 - 105.5%) -- 37.5% chance to OHKO
Overall I managed to slack off back up with bro to put altaria in ice shard range giving sneasel a 100% chance of victory and winning the game, but overall by far the closest game so far in my opinion.

Predictions for the second half of spl:
I think that meeps / lax / me will come out with best records based on how we've been playing so far.
Eternally will bring it back later in the season with a win streak starting week 6.
Earth may struggle a bit more as he has been using very similar team structures or relied on gimmicks.
Zukushiku to finish with a positive record.

This is one interesting mu. The #1 ranked NUer vs ted who currently shares the highest record with leon. The most gimmicky player on the site rn(snow has yet to bring an emolga) vs the most boring stuck in his ways guy ive seen in a while. After getting stall-cucked by unbeatable Huawei Matebook X Rodri last week i feel like tedder is more hungry for this win even tho meeps finally used a tech I liked last week(ejecter+trapper is always alright in my book hehe shameless plug). Either way, looking forward to this one the most. If meeps does manage to pull it out with a suitable gimmick, please dont roll up with one of these again tho.

[BIGS] Kushalos(3-3) vs Elodin(0-0) [SCTR]

im the goat Eternally decided to call it quits for a bit so the controversial Brazilian gets a shot at the tier again for his USUM NU SPL debut. Elodin surely must have turned heads during snake after subbing in for Dat Blast for the Gliders and ending with the second best record of the pool with 5-2. However, with the main nu player unmotivated and no Tricking support to be seen, I am really wondering with what kind of squad papai will turn up. All in all, itll be a cool rematch from snake since that was one of my more enjoyable games, ill make sure my vivillon counter isnt houndoom this time >.<.

[WOLF] Earth(2-3) vs Pohjis(3-2) [NECC]

After handing the baton to the broken moons man last week earth is back to attempt to break even. I feel the NU open winner has been bringing more of his A-game in terms of play and teams that deviate from the standard tho, while earths techs like ice beam altaria and scarf aggron havent been impressing me too much. If the PS man is still motivated enough after his team is out, its quite obvious to me whos gonna get dropped on the necc.

[RUIN] lax(3-1) vs Evan.(1-1) [TGRS]

Outside of his loss to the goat lax has been tearing it up since he replaced the snagger. Hootie's step-in might have gotten an impressive win vs meeps in his debut game, but if Evan. continues the trend of having mons like AV hitmonchan as ice resists he might have a very hard time in this one. Expecting lax to come out on top since hes more seasoned in the tier and has the better techs.

[RAID] Zukushiku(3-2) vs ict(4-2) [CRYO]

After watching his games and having spend time with him on a team during the Smogon Exhibition, I can tell that FLCL and Pearl have def made a good decision with monotype goat zukushiku, so props to them for scouting him to play this tier. Leons ice table team from last week was fairly questionable in my opinion, so if he has learned from that he just might take it. Going with zuku in this mu since their play in this tier is on a similar level but the raiders manager will help provide an advantage.

Am i close to that CC badge yet.
