Situation: In his ADV Cup set versus Fakes, linear intentionally threw game 3, which allowed Fakes to win the set and advance. While linear's intent behind throwing did not appear to be malicious and they did not appear to have colluded in advance to rig the set, throwing a tournament game is explicitly against tournament rules and cannot be permitted in any form, as it severely undermines the competitiveness of our tournaments. In this instance in particular, linear's decision to throw the game significantly impacted Fakes' chances to qualify for Smogon Classic playoffs, at the direct disadvantage to other competitors who were afforded no such free advancement. That said, because we have found no evidence that Fakes coordinated with linear or requested that the game be thrown, and because Fakes still had a chance (albeit a very small one) of winning the game legitimately, the fact that linear threw cannot be used to invalidate Fakes' win. Therefore, Fakes will still advance in the tournament.
Result: thelinearcurve will be tournament banned for three months. Fakes remains in ADV Cup.
