Kyurem-Black @ Life Orb
Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naughty Nature
- Ice Beam
- Fusion Bolt
- Outrage
- Roost / Earth Power

Kyurem-Black as a counter. Zapdos 3HKOs Kyurem-B with Heat Wave, but Kyurem-B can heal the damage with Roost and OHKO Zapdos with a STAB attack.

252 SpA Zapdos Heat Wave vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Kyurem-Black: 123-145 (31.4 - 37%) -- 80.7% chance to 3HKO
252 SpA Zapdos Heat Wave vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Kyurem-Black: 123-145 (31.4 - 37%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock

4 SpA Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-Black Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Zapdos: 322-382 (100.3 - 119%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-Black Outrage vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Zapdos: 390-460 (121.4 - 143.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Avant Heim

formerly The Bill Cipher
Tyranitar as a counter

Tyranitar @ Choice Band
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stone Edge
- Crunch
- Pursuit
- Superpower

Tyranitar has Sand Stream and a Rock types and good defensive stats, which makes Tyranitar a very serious threat to Zapdos, as our Thunder Bird can do a max of 36.2% with Tbolt under Sand and Tyranitar can just murder Zapos with Stone Edge. PP stalling is quite annoying but the amount of damage this thing does can overpass Roost+Pressure stalling

252+ Atk Choice Band Tyranitar Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Zapdos: 626-740 (195 - 230.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Tyranitar Crunch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Zapdos: 252-297 (78.5 - 92.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after sandstorm damage
252+ Atk Choice Band Tyranitar Pursuit vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Zapdos: 127-150 (39.5 - 46.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after sandstorm damage
252+ Atk Choice Band Tyranitar Superpower vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Zapdos: 125-148 (38.9 - 46.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after sandstorm damage

252+ SpA Zapdos Thunderbolt vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Tyranitar in Sand: 105-124 (30.7 - 36.2%) -- 54.7% chance to 3HKO
252+ SpA Zapdos Hidden Power Ice vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Tyranitar in Sand: 47-56 (13.7 - 16.3%) -- possible 7HKO
252+ SpA Zapdos Heat Wave vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Tyranitar in Sand: 37-44 (10.8 - 12.8%) -- possible 8HKO
252 SpA Zapdos Thunderbolt vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Tyranitar in Sand: 96-114 (28 - 33.3%) -- 0% chance to 3HKO
252 SpA Zapdos Hidden Power Ice vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Tyranitar in Sand: 43-51 (12.5 - 14.9%) -- possible 7HKO
252 SpA Zapdos Heat Wave vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Tyranitar in Sand: 34-40 (9.9 - 11.6%) -- possible 9HKO

Gastrodon @ Leftovers
Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpD / 8 Def
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Earth Power
- Toxic
- Recover

Good special wall, handles Zapdos/Ash Greninja/MegaMan/Koko (and other electrics) with ease.

Zapdos can't touch this and you just Toxic stall for days.

252+ SpA Life Orb Zapdos Hidden Power Ice vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Gastrodon on a critical hit: 112-133 (26.2 - 31.2%) -- 8.8% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

Counter

Nihilego @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Power Gem
- Sludge Wave
- Hidden Power Fire / Hidden Power Ice
- Thunder

Nihilego's typing and high Sp. Def stat allow it to switch in on all of Zapdos' moves (LO-boosted Thunderbolt is a 2HKO after hazards, though), and OHKO it with Power Gem after one round of hazard damage or LO recoil.

Offensive:
252 SpA Nihilego Power Gem vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Zapdos: 282-332 (87.8 - 103.4%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO
252 SpA Nihilego Sludge Wave vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Zapdos: 168-198 (52.3 - 61.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Nihilego Hidden Power Fire vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Zapdos: 71-84 (22.1 - 26.1%) -- 7.5% chance to 4HKO
252 SpA Nihilego Hidden Power Ice vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Zapdos: 140-166 (43.6 - 51.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Nihilego Hidden Power Ice vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Zapdos: 140-166 (43.6 - 51.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Nihilego Thunder vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Zapdos: 129-152 (40.1 - 47.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 SpA Nihilego Thunder vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Zapdos: 129-152 (40.1 - 47.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

Defensive:
252 SpA Life Orb Zapdos Thunderbolt vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Nihilego: 148-175 (41.2 - 48.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 SpA Life Orb Zapdos Hidden Power Ice vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Nihilego: 66-79 (18.3 - 22%) -- possible 5HKO
252 SpA Life Orb Zapdos Heat Wave vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Nihilego: 52-61 (14.4 - 16.9%) -- possible 6HKO

252 SpA Zapdos Thunderbolt vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Nihilego: 114-135 (31.7 - 37.6%) -- 88.9% chance to 3HKO
252 SpA Zapdos Hidden Power Ice vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Nihilego: 51-61 (14.2 - 16.9%) -- possible 6HKO
252 SpA Zapdos Heat Wave vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Nihilego: 40-47 (11.1 - 13%) -- possible 8HKO

Celesteela is Life

Venusaur @ Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 248 HP / 88 Def / 156 SpD / 16 Spe
Calm Nature
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Synthesis
- Hidden Power Fire / Leech Seed

Mega Venusaur is a hard Counter to 3 Attacks Zapdos, as it takes nothing from Thunderbolt and eats up Heat Waves and HP Ices for days due to it's bulk and Thick Fat removing its weakness to those moves. In return, Mega Venu can use Sludge Bomb to deal decent damage to Zapdos and potentially poison it, which is useful to wear it down as you switch into it. Mega Venusaur can also run Leech Seed to further chip away at Zapdos' HP while regaining some of its HP itself.

252+ SpA Life Orb Zapdos Heat Wave vs. 248 HP / 156+ SpD Thick Fat Venusaur-Mega: 101-120 (27.8 - 33%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

0 SpA Venusaur-Mega Sludge Bomb vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Zapdos: 127-150 (39.5 - 46.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
0 SpA Venusaur-Mega Sludge Bomb vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Zapdos: 127-150 (39.5 - 46.7%) -- 35.5% chance to 2HKO after poison damage

Counter: Chansey

Chansey @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- Seismic Toss
- Toxic
- Stealth Rock
- Soft-Boiled

Chansey Seismic Toss vs. 0 HP Zapdos: 100-100 (31.1 - 31.1%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

252+ SpA Zapdos Discharge vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Eviolite Chansey: 90-106 (12.8 - 15%) -- possible 7HKO

Chansey walls this Zapdos until the end of the world, even with this EVs spread (meant to eat hits better from Psyshock users) with only 8 SpD EVs.
Chansey can lay SR for free or can use Toxic/Seismic Toss.

Reserving Rotom-Heat

Rotom-Heat @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 40 Def / 220 Spe
Bold Nature
- Overheat
- Volt Switch
- Pain Split
- Thunder Wave/Will-O-Wisp

Rotom-H as counter. Just took the gen 6 OU spread. U resist Zapdos's coverage and have access to pain split so u pretty much beat it 1v1. WoW pressures Tar from coming in easily and chips at Zapdos. Volt gives momentum. T-wave is just T-wave

0 SpA Zapdos Discharge vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Rotom-Heat: 49-58 (16.1 - 19.1%) -- possible 8HKO after Leftovers recovery snack
0 SpA Zapdos Heat Wave vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Rotom-Heat: 39-46 (12.8 - 15.1%) -- possibly the worst move ever snack
0 SpA Zapdos Hidden Power Ice vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Rotom-Heat: 25-29 (8.2 - 9.5%) -- possibly the worst move ever snack

Snorlax @ Leftovers
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Block
- Power-Up Punch
- Heavy Slam
- Stockpile

Snorlax great bulk allows it to tank Zapdos hits very well - 110 Spdef and 160 Hp.
Thick fat makes Zapdos Heat Wave and Hidden Power Ice useless.
Block prevents the zapdos from switching, while you can set-up with Stockpile and Power-Up Punch at its face. Zapdos has 52kg, while Snorlax has 460kg (!), so Heavy Slam will kill with 1HKO with some Power-Up-Punches, so the Roost became uselless. Actualy, if he uses Roost, you got MORE time to buff yourself with Power-Up-Punch. Leftovers give him a relyiable recover. A counter, can easly switch-in when he uses Heat Wave or Hidden Power Ice (Thanks, Thick Fat!).

Mega Charizard X as a check

Charizard @ Charizardite X
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Flare Blitz
- Roost

Without Rocks Zard-Mega can switch in any of Zapdos's attacks (as long as it's already mega), with Rocks Zard must be careful to switch if Zapdos is Timid (since it will be a tie), you can take hits, Roost, and beat it with a +1 Flare Blitz or +2 Dragon Claw.
252 SpA Life Orb Zapdos Thunderbolt vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Charizard-Mega-X: 107-126 (36 - 42.4%) -- 86.7% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Life Orb Zapdos Thunderbolt vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Charizard-Mega-X: 107-126 (36 - 42.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 SpA Life Orb Zapdos Hidden Power Ice vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Charizard-Mega-X: 95-113 (31.9 - 38%) -- 2.3% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Life Orb Zapdos Heat Wave vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Charizard-Mega-X: 38-44 (12.7 - 14.8%) -- guaranteed 6HKO after Stealth Rock
+1 252 Atk Tough Claws Charizard-Mega-X Flare Blitz vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Zapdos: 433-510 (113 - 133.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+1 252 Atk Tough Claws Charizard-Mega-X Dragon Claw vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Zapdos: 288-340 (75.1 - 88.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
+2 252 Atk Tough Claws Charizard-Mega-X Dragon Claw vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Zapdos: 385-454 (100.5 - 118.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Time for posting is over and now its time to Vote. You may vote on 2 Counters. Since there are only 2 checks both automatically win.

Notes
- I moved Scarf Nihilego to checks as it can only switch in once and cant trap zapdos. You get an auto win for check tho
- Snorlax has not been included. While I do like the Idea behind it, it is simply not viable in the OU environment where fighting coverage is rampant and Bulky fairies use it as set up fodder. Thanks for the nomination tho

Counters
Alolan Marowak
Mega Swampert
SPDEF calm mind clefable
Kyurem Black
Tyraniter
Gastrodon
Mega Venu
Rotom Heat
Chansey

Checks (Auto won)
Scarf Nihilego
Charizard X

Goodluck. Voting ends monday

Its ok that my set didnt end up with it, I still have a lot to learnabout the metagame.
Looking foward the next "victim", haha.
My vote goes to Gastrodon.
I am recently having problems with Magearna, and its a giant thread in the metagame. Can you help with this one, making him a victim?

Sorry, but I have two things:
(1) Why isn't Chansey (my nomination) included among the counters? Eviolite Chansey is OU material.
(2) Rotom-H is not included in the OU VR thread
