Reserving [STABmons] Mega Venusaur

Overview
  • Mega Venusaur's great Grass / Poison typing, when paired with it's ability, Thick Fat, leaves it with only two weaknesses in Psychic and Flying.
  • Sporting amazing natural bulk in both Defense and Special Defense, Mega Venusaur is able to utilize support moves such as Spore, Leech Seed, and Toxic Spikes to cripple opponents and allow other offensive threats to shine.
  • While it can handle most attacks, Mega Venusaur is vulnerable to strong STAB Flying and Psychic moves and should be paired with Pokemon who cover these two weaknesses.
  • Grass and Poison is a potent STAB combination for a bulky Pokemon like Mega Venusaur, offering only two combined resistances in Poison and Steel.
  • Even without investment in Special Attack, offensive options like Giga Drain, Seed Flare, Energy Ball, and Sludge Bomb are often enough to scare out offensive Pokemon who lack Super Effective attacks.
Specially Defensive
Venusaur-Mega @ Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Spore
- Giga Drain / Seed Flare / Energy Ball
- Sludge Bomb / Acid Spray
- Leech Seed / Synthesis

Set Comments

Moves

  • Spore allows Mega Venusaur to put offensive threats to sleep and provides an opportunity for safe healing or a switch to an offensive threat.
  • Giga Drain is the optimal Grass STAB as it appreciates the residual healing.
  • A riskier, but more powerful option is Seed Flare with 120 BP, 85% accuracy, and a 40% chance to sharply lower the opponents Special Defense.
  • Energy Ball provides a middle ground between the two with moderate damage, but no healing.
  • Sludge Bomb is used against Pokemon that resist the Grass STAB, usually opposing Grass or Fairy-types.
  • Acid Spray offers less BP than Sludge Bomb, but the guaranteed drop in Special Defense makes switch-ins think twice about staying in to take a second attack.
  • Leech Seed is useful for crippling offensive threats and winning against other bulky Pokemon.
  • Synthesis is valuable when you need immediate, and more substantial healing. Be careful of weather teams who reduce Synthesis' healing to 1/3.

Set Details
  • Chlorophyll is used as the pre-Mega ability in case an opponent or teammate has setup Sun, giving Venusaur doubled Speed.
  • Standard EV's in HP and Special Defense allow Mega Venusaur to easily tank almost any Special Attack.
  • Calm nature and 0 Attack IV's only increases the ability to wall Special attackers and minimizes damage from Foul Play.

Usage Tips

  • Mega Venusaur excels at switching into Pokemon who have no options to hit it Super Effectively and then putting them to sleep using Spore.
  • Mega Venusaur beats almost all notable Water, Grass, and Ground/Rock-types 1v1 thanks to it's stellar defensive typing.
  • Sludge Bomb is usually used to hit opposing Grass pokemon who are immune to Spore and Leech Seed.
  • The residual healing from Leech Seed and Giga Drain is extremely valuable when facing Pokemon who can 2HKO Mega Venusaur, like unboosted Mega Slowbro and Slowking.

Team Options

  • Tyranitar is immune to Psychic and resists Flying, completely covering Mega Venusaur's weaknesses. Great coverage moves also allow Tyranitar to eliminate checks like Heatran, Ferrothorn, and Talonflame.
  • Strong Fire-types like Heatran and both Mega Charizards clear out Steel types that resist both STABs.
  • Rotom-Wash is a reliable check to Flying-types that threaten it, and Mega Venusaur appreciates the Will-o-Wisp support crippling opposing physical attackers.

Strategy Comments

Other Options

  • When paired with a Sun setter like Mega Charizard Y, a setup move like Growth can turn bulky Mega Venusaur into a serious offensive threat.
  • The less effective physical set using Wood Hammer, Earthquake, and Knock Off can be used to lure in and kill threats like Alakazam and Heatran.
  • Toxic Spikes can be used in place of a support or coverage move to apply status pressure to the enemy team.

Checks and Counters

  • Fire-types: Even with Thick Fat halving the attacking stat of incoming Fire-type attacks, Mega Venusaur is unable to deal reliable damage in return and is usually forced to switch out by strong attackers like Talonflame, Mega Charizard Y, and Heatran.
  • Flying-types: Flying-type STAB moves are a serious threat to Mega Venusaur and should be avoided if possible. Pokemon like Tornadus-therian, Aerodactyl, and Mega Pidgeot can break through Mega Venusaur's bulk with powerful Flying attacks.
  • Psychic-types: Strong Psychic-types like Latios, Latias, Meloetta, and Starmie are able to revenge kill Mega Venusaur with their strong STAB moves.
  • Bulky Walls: Bulky walls like Chansey and Blissey can be worn down eventually by Leech Seed, but if they have teammates to switch out to, they are relatively unphased by Mega Venusaur.

[1v1 Mega Charizard X]

Overview

+Great offensive and defensive typing in Dragon/Fire
+Great mixed stats in defense and offense
+Great ability in Tough Claws boosting its physical attacks
+Makes use of two high base power moves in Flare Blitz + Outrage which comes at minimal opportunity cost
+Surprise Factor, "is it X or Y"
-Is weak to bulky or faster choice specs users as it is less bulky on the spdf side
-Loses to physical defensive Pokemon depending on its set
-Has to choose a move depending on the team because it will get walled by something depending on what is chosen

idk negative points, zard x is too good ;)

[Dragon Dance]

Charizard @ Charizardite X
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe or 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Jolly Nature / Bold Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
- Flare Blitz
- Will-O-Wisp / Substitute / Counter

Set Comments

Moves
  • Dragon Dance boosts Zard X attack and speed allowing it to outspeed and cause heavy damage to a good portion of the meta
  • Outrage is a great move on Zard X being a 120 BP STAB move boosted by Tough Claws with minimal opportunity cost.
  • Flare Blitz also
  • Will-o-Wisp is used to stop physical offensive Pokemon on their track at reducing zard X health fast giving it more set up opportunity and defeats Lvl 1 / Sturdy / Endure Pokemon
  • Substitute blocks rechargeable moves and stall Pokemon allowing it to setup and attack them easily though it should be only used with the first EVs spread
  • Counter is a way to defeat easily most physically offensive Pokemon, it should only used with the second spread.

Set Details
  • Maximized attack and speed allows Zard X especially go through most defensive walls in 1v1 such as Chansey and outspeeding other threats such as Max Speed Gyarados if both uses Dragon Dance.
  • Maximized HP and Def allows Zard X to sponge a hit from the scariest physical hitters in the meta such as Kyurem-B, Garchomp, Zard X and retaliate back with Counter. It also allows it to set up better against Bulky Offensive Pokemon such as Sylveon and Mega Zard Y though it fails to nail the OHKO against bulky threats such as Mega Slowbro.

Usage Tips

  • The set and spread that works better depends on your team if you seem weak to both Zard X and Kyu-B run the defensive set as it can lure both of them in. But if your team lacks a strong physical attacker the first set is the way to go.
  • Be careful of Bulky Specs Pokemon such as Meloetta as they can sponge a hit from Zard X and OHKO back.
  • Think twice before sending it against an opponent with a Water-type Pokemon even though Zard X is neutral to Water most of them has a way of hitting it effectively like Mega Blastoise and Swampert.
Team Options
  • Mega Gyarados is a great partner as it can check effectively Rock- and Ground-type Pokemon that troubles Mega Zard X specifically Golem and Rhyperior
  • Defensive Pokemon such as Porygon2 and Mega Slowbro can withstand hits from Banded users such as from Garchomp and Rhyperior making them a great choice
  • Specially Defensive Pokemon such as Chansey can block most bulky specially offensive Pokemon that can OHKO Mega Charizard X like Porygon-Z and Meloetta
  • Specially Offensive Pokemon such as Greninja, Meloetta and Porygon-Z teams well with Mega Zard X as they can take on physically defensive Pokemon such as Mega Slowbro
Strategy Comments

Other Options

Nothing else @_@
Checks and Counters
  • **Mega Slowbro**: Thanks to its defensive typing in Water / Psychic and colossal defenses plus access to Acid Armor this Pokemon that sponge any hits from Mega Charizard X and counters its boosting due to Acid Armor. Additionally, Shell Armor prevents any critical hits to happen ruining the strategy.
  • **Mega Gyarados**: Prior Mega Evolving Intimidate hinders Mega Charizard X allowing Gyarados to pull of Dragon Dance more effectively OHKOing Mega Charizard X after a Dragon Dance with Outrage.
  • **Powerful Special Attackers**: Fast or bulky and powerful special attackers such as Greninja, Porygon-Z and Meloetta can either outspeed or sponge a hit from Mega Charizard X and OHKO it due to its mediocre specially defensive side.
  • **Bulky Offensive Rock-type Pokemon**: More importantly Rhyperior, Tyranitar and Crustle can take any hit from Mega Charizard X and easily OHKO it with their STAB moves even if burned.

Overview

Mention resistances
Add lack of reliable recovery (8 PP and hindered by sand)
I probably wouldn't use "amazing" natural bulk but that's up to you

Set 1

Moves
IVs aren't used in analyses
Synthesis is absolutely essential, Leech Seed should be slashed with Spore maybe? Not too sure but that's what I would do
I don't really see Energy Ball or Seed Flare being used on a defensive set - Acid Spray will make Giga Drain strong enough and the recovery + more PP is always better imo

Set Details
I don't think you have an optimal spread but I haven't used Venusaur in forever. I'd definitely check with someone though. Tagging ellipse who's top don and will know something good

Usage Tips
Be specific with Pokemon / moves that it switches into
Discuss avoiding passive damage

Team Options
Try to beef this up a bit (Aroma / Heal Bell users, more Psychic-type checks, more Flying-type checks, something that beats opposing Heatran reliably)

Big suggestion lol

How about an offensive / tank set with Seed Flare / Sludge Wave / Hidden Power Fire / Synthesis? I think I see this one more

Other Options

If physical, Mega Venusaur is going to be running Power Whip over Wood Hammer. Can run Gunk Shot too altho kinda bad
Coil is also an option
Regular Venu with Chlorophyll is /alright/
Note that the physical moves can be run purely as lures on an otherwise normal set (Earthquake for Heatran, Knock Off for Latios)

Checks and Counters

Thick Fat halves the damage not the attacking stat
Landorus-T is also a very notable Flying-type
Psychic-types break through Mega Venusaur, they don't just revenge kill it

This was good, try to add more content and be specific although not obvious

ellipse if you see this and are wondering why you're tagged, open the hide box

Venu's spread should be 248/-/96+/0/144/20. This lets you outspeed Max speed neutral Base 50s (Banded Azu). I used a defensive Bias since I wanted my Venu to be able to check all non-Braviary FakeSpeed, as well as the majority of physical threats (All of them except for the birds and the Psychic Fighters). You also beat every Sylveon set except for Specs sets carrying upwards of 180 speed, and every single Keldeo set.
252+ SpA Choice Specs Pixilate Sylveon Boomburst vs. 248 HP / 144 SpD Mega Venusaur: 165-194 (45.4 - 53.4%) -- 35.5% chance to 2HKO

252+ Atk Mega Lopunny Extreme Speed vs. 248 HP / 96+ Def Mega Venusaur: 105-124 (28.9 - 34.1%) -- 2.5% chance to 3HKO

+2 252 Atk Garchomp Precipice Blades vs. 248 HP / 96+ Def Mega Venusaur: 276-325 (76 - 89.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 SpA Heatran Blue Flare vs. 248 HP / 144 SpD Thick Fat Mega Venusaur: 162-192 (44.6 - 52.8%) -- 19.1% chance to 2HKO

Reserving [inverse] Beedrill-M As well as praising rhythms for making this
you get one more warning to put this in qc before it is taken out of your hands

Reserving baecanion [AAA]

Overview

- Good Offensive Typing
- Great spammable move in Steam Eruption
- Combined with great SpA stat
- Large enough attack stat and solid movepool for mixed set
- Good natural bulk makes it difficult to ohko and revenge kill
- Slow for an offensive threat
- Weak to Stealth Rocks
- Attacks can be predictable

Choice Specs Wallbreaker
Volcanion @ Choice Specs
Ability: Tinted Lens
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature

- Steam Eruption
- Fire Blast
- Scald
- Will-o-Wisp / Focus Blast / Sludge Wave

Set Comments

Moves

- Steam Eruption is Volcanion's best move. It provides an extremely powerful STAB attack with solid accuracy as well as a 30% chance to burn the foe.
- Fire Blast provides another strong STAB option for Volcanion
- Scald is a safer option when Steam Eruption is unnecessary, whether to ensure the move hits or to save valuable Steam Eruption pp.
- Due to Tinted Lens, Volcanion almost never uses its fourth move. Will-o-Wisp is a decent option to burn checks like Chansey or RegenVest Meloetta and Manaphy. Focus Blast can hit opponents with immunities and resists to Volcanion's STABs, such as Flash Fire Ferrothorn. Sludge Wave can hit the rare bulky Fairy type foe in AAA, such as Sylveon.
Set Details

- SpA EVs, Modest Nature, and Choice Specs all maximize the power of Volcanion
- Speed EVs to outspeed most defensive foes
- Tinted Lens allows Volcanion to plow through most would-be checks, and it pairs perfectly with Choice Specs

Usage Tips
- Use Steam Eruption whenever you can, unless the opponent has an immunity
- Use a slow teammate's Volt Switch or U-Turn to get Volcanion safely into play to threaten the opponent
- Weaken checks with other special attackers as well as hazards before sending Volcanion into play

Team Options

- Special Attackers with Knock Off, such as Thundurus and Manaphy, are great teammates as they can lure in special defensive walls such as Chansey and RegenVest users, and then significantly weaken their spdef
- Zapdos provides a ground immunity, hazard removal and a slow Volt Switch/U-Turn
- Diancie can provide a check for Gale Wings users that threaten Volcanion, and it appreciates Volcanion's pressure on the opponent's Steel type team members.

Adaptability Mixed Attacker
Volcanion @ Choice Scarf / Life Orb
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Steam Eruption
- Fire Blast
- Flare Blitz
- Focus Blast / Earth Power

Set Comments

Moves

- Steam Eruption is Volcanion's best move. It provides a strong, accurate STAB with a 30% chance to burn.
- Fire Blast is Volcanion's alternate STAB move that provides great coverage in tandem with Steam Eruption.
- Flare Blitz provides a powerful physical STAB option to surprise and defeat many checks designed for Volcanion's special attacks, such as RegenVest Meloetta.
- Focus Blast provides coverage for foes with an immunity to Volcanion's STAB such as Flash Fire Ferrothorn and Desolate Land Heatran.
- Earth Power more reliably hits Heatran, at the cost of easily defeating Ferrothorn. Focus Blast is thus the preferred option unless Volcanion's teammates can easily defeat Ferrothorn.

Set Details

The EVs are set to maximize Volcanion's special attack and speed; combined with a Choice Scarf Volcanion outspeeds and OHKO foes like Raikou, Thundurus, and Choice Scarf Tyranitar. The Naughty Nature gives Volcanion max speed, while still provided it with strong special attacking stat, as well as a decent attacking stat. Adaptability further increases the power of Volcanion's STABs, making it a devestating attacker. Life Orb is another option to further increase Volcanion's damage output. However, Volcanion's slow speed leaves it vulnerable to fast attackers like Thundurus, and the Life Orb set is often outclassed by Choice Specs Tinted Lens. That said, a Life Orb mixed Adaptability set is devastating against stall.

Usage Tips

- Volcanion should be played aggresively. If often surprises foes with its Choice Scarf to OHKO them.
- It is better to avoid bringing it in directly on a offensive foe that would outspeed Volcanion if it did not have a Choice Scarf, as you can make your item obvious.
- To expand, leading with Volcanion against a predicted offensive opponent's lead can provide you with a great starting matchup.
- Pivot Volcanion in against defensive opponents with U-Turn and Volt Switch.
- If you can predict remove a special defensive check like Meloetta and defeat it with Flare Blitz, Choice Scarf Steam Eruption will often plow through the opponent's remaining team.

- Magnet Pull Infernape is able to trap and defeat steel typed Volcanion checks such as Ferrothorn and Heatran.

Strategy Comments

Other Options

- Motor Drive can surprise threats like Thundurus to give Volcanion an advantage.
- Swift Swim makes Volcanion a devastating fast attacker on rain teams.
- Magnet Pull seems appealing at first, but is generally outclassed by Heatran and Infernape
- Regenerator can make use of Volcanion's natural bulk to improve its longevity at the cost of power.

Checks and Counters

Special Defensive Walls: Volcanion has a tough time breaking walls like Chansey as well as RegenVest users like Meloetta and Manaphy. These checks can also hinder Volcanion's effectiveness with status or Knock Off, or pivot out.

Bulky Water Types: With a resistance to both of Volcanion's STABs, bulky waters such as Poison Heal Suicune and Manaphy have the stats to check even the Tinted Lens set.

Fast Electric Types: Thundurus and Raikou can outspeed Volcanion without a Choice Scarf and OHKO it easily.

Reserving Whimsicott [1v1]
[Quality Control: 1/2]

Overview

+ Bulky enough to sponge most hits because of its natural bulk.
+ Able to even survive super effective hits if you choose to opt some resistance berries such as Babiri Berry, Occa Berry, and Yache Berry.
+ Wins against most Pokemon that do less than 90% damage on the first hit.
+ Has fairly good filler moves like Grass Whistle, Taunt and Cotton Guard which helps it against different threats.
+ Has thee ability Prankster which gives Whimsicott a good chance of moving before the opponent when it uses a status move.
+ Can easily defeat Pokemon that try to stall around in the metagame.
- Has to rely on the 90% accuracy move Leech Seed.
- With every berry a Whimsicott holds, you'll have to know that Whimsicott is still weak to a certain part of the metagame depending on what berry it holds.
- Hates sound moves.
- The only move it has that makes opponents fall asleep is Grass Whistle, which has 55% accuracy.
- Lacks good recovery outside Leech Seed.

Moves

This Whimsy Vamprire has several options for viable moves that it can use it 1v1. It has moves like Leech Seed to steal some health from the opponents, Protect to shield itself from any attack and status move attempts that come by, Substitute to stall its way to victory due to Leech Seed while both of the moves are supported by the ability Prankster, and Encore is a filler move that is able to make Pokemon that use stall to use the same move over and over again so that you can just mess around with them until you win. Cotton Guard is a good alternative from Encore since it lets Whimsicott tank in more of the physical moves that may seem to threaten Whimsicott. This move helps it defeat. Taunt is another alternative but it's kinda like Encore except it sends the opponent a message saying to only use attacking moves. This brings Whimsicott to the best of its advantage against stall due to it preventing opponents from healing, taunting, and setting up.
Each of the 3 filler moves do great in competitive play. While Encore is able to beat Mega Slowbro, Mega Gyarados, and Defense Deoxys, Cotton Guard is able to beat Mega Metagross, Mega Mawile, and Mega Aggron even without the Babiri Berry, and Taunt to beat Meta Banette, other Whimsicott, and even Jumpluff.

Set Details
Whimsicott's EVs are usually just the typical standard EVs depending on what berry you use. Whimsicott uses 248 EVs on every Leech Seed set just for it to be able to do its best since it gains a large amount of HP. This amount is safer than 252 EVs because 248 EVs allows Whimsicott to use Substitute one extra time if it really needs it. If you hold a Babiri Berry or an Occa Berry, It is recommended that you also run 252 Defense EVs and 4 Special Defense EVs. The Babiri Berry is used specifically to go against Steel-type Pokemon like Mega Mawile and Mega Aggron. For Mega Mawile, you would need a significant amount of EVs in order to tank it well. Special Defense EVs may sound necessary for this set but regardless of how much EVs you manage to give it, Ice Beam from Pokemon like Black Kyurem and Genesect would still do so much to it. If you want to max Special Defense for this set and give 4 Defense EVs, I suggest using the Yache Berry instead of the Babiri Berry so that you can take Ice Beam hits well. If you use the Occa Berry, the EVs could be any one of the two other spreads said depending on if you're trying to beat Mega Charizard-X or Mega Chariard-Y

Usage Tips

When using Whimsicott, try using Leech Seed before any other move, unless you think that your opponent won't attack on the first turn. If you think or you're sure that your opponent won't use an attack move on the first turn, use Substitute instead. After you're done using Leech Seed, keep using Protect and Substitute until your opponent's HP drops down to 0, then you win. If anything is stopping you from doing your main role, you can use one of the filler moves on the 4th slot, depending on who you're up against.

Team Options

Whimsicott well suits with Black Kyurem as it can take down the majority of the Pokemon that Whimsicott can't thanks to Black Kyurem's coverage and STAB moves like Iron Head and Outrage to take down threats like Mega Gardevoir and Mega Charizard-X. Other good option for a Pokemon to team with Whimsicott is Mega Sableye. Sableye is pretty much Whimsicott's shadow as regular Sableye and Whimsicott both have Prankster, but Mega Sableye has Magic Bounce. Magic Bounce is an ability that bounces all status moves away. Anyone who sees a Whimsicott and Sableye in the same team would have a hard time thinking of who to choose because of their typing, abilities, and defense. Mega Sableye has the defense to easily block attacks from Whimsicott's threats including Mega Charizard-X, Mega Charizard-Y, Mega Banette, and Meloetta. When Mega Sableye gets hit, it won't hesitate to retaliate back with Metal Burst. Magic Bounce is able to make moves like Toxic fly back to Pokemon that may unexpectedly have it just to deal with Whimsicott.
Mega Charizard-X is another Pokemon that suits well being Whimsicott's teammate because like Black Kyurem, Mega Charizard-X has coverage and STAB moves too. The biggest differences are the typing that they have and while Black Kyurem has more strength, Mega Charizard-X is more versatile. Mega Charizard-X has access to moves like Dragon Dance in order to increase its attack and STAB Outrage to take care of other Charizards and even Black Kyurem if its invested in bulk. Mega Gyarados is the 4th option for a teammate. Like Mega Charizard-X and Black Kyurem, Mega Gyarados has fantastic coverage and STAB moves, also having access to Dragon Dance. It uses moves like Waterfall and Outrage to tear down just as many Pokemon as Mega Charizard-X and Black Kyurem. Mega Gyarados is kinda in the middle. It's less powerful yet more versatile than Black Kyurem. Mega Gyarados helps defeat Whimsicott's biggest threats like Mega Sableye and Mega Banette. It also has the unique ability Mold Breaker which it could take advantage of by cutting through the opponent's Magic Bounce using Taunt.

Other Options

Grass Whistle is a possible filler move in this Whimsicott set. You can use it to make opponents fall asleep so that you can succeed easier in your plans by using Leech Seed or Substitute. The only things you need to be cautious about when you use this move is that it has a low 55% accuracy which would make it miss often and if it does hit, you're going to have to rely on your opponents to start waking up pretty late rather than as early as possible. 55% accuracy isn't healthy to rely on. Toxic is another option you can use, but Toxic takes away 1 turn of Whimsicott's ideal strategy and that 1 turn can be very risky to waste. Offense moves like Moonblast and Giga Drain look good on paper but not the best in 1v1, because even though those moves can defeat Dark and Water types easier, Whimsicott's Special Attack just isn't enough for the metagame unless it's against Mega Diancie.

Checks and Counters

**Steel-type, Fire-type, and/or Ice-type moves**: Whimsicott is weak to all three of these types. These types of moves are some of the most common out there so the best option is to make yourself take less damage from one of these types using a Babiri Berry, an Occa Berry, or a Yache Berry. Even though this is an option, you will still be weak to two of the three types of moves on this list. The most common Pokemon in this list of weaknesses are Mega Mawile for Steel, Mega Charizard-X and Mega Charizard-Y for Fire, and Black Kyurem for Ice.

**Poison-type moves**: Whimsicott is times four weak to Poison and really doesn't have anything to stop it from getting OHKOed by most Poison moves. Kebia Berry is an option but it usually isn't enough to stop Whimsicott from fainting in this case. The time you should worry the most about getting hit by a Poison-type move is when you are facing a Garchomp because they commonly carry Poison Jab.

**Moves that go through Substitute**: Any move that goes through Substitute is a huge threat to Whimsicott and Whimsicott flat out loses when it faces a Pokemon with one of these moves. Some examples of moves that go through Substitute are Hyper Voice, Uproar, Bug Buzz, and Heat Wave. Meloetta would use Hyper Voice sometimes, Porygon-Z would use Uproar, Genesect would use Bug Buzz, and any Zapdos out there will use Heat Wave.

**Magic Bouncers**: This ability scares Whimsicott more than it scares any other Pokemon because with this ability, Whimsicott cannot use any status moves on the Magic Bouncers as they would just fly back to it. Whimsicott's entire strategy is just using status moves so in this case, Whimsicott loses. The biggest Magic Bounce user in the metagame is Mega Sableye so keep an eye out for Sableye when you see it. Mega Diancie is also a good Magic Bounce user but not as common as Mega Sableye.

**Mega Banette**: Mega Banette plays with Whimsicott like some kind of rag doll. With Prankster Taunt and Torment, Whimsicott wouldn't be able to do much other than making its 1st move.

Overview
Generalize what the Pokemon does in the metagame and as a whole and why you should or shouldn't consider using it on your teams.
-Bulky af
-Takes nearly all unboosted physical hits
-Mono ice gives it 1 weakness (to ice) which is hard to take advantage of on the Pdef side
-Good spinner due to rocks resistance

Physically Defensive
Avalugg @ Leftovers / Rocky Helmet
Ability: Sturdy / Ice Body
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Impish Nature
- Recover
- Avalanche
- Roar / Toxic
- Rapid Spin / Earthquake

Moves

Describe what the moves on the set do.
-Recover heals
-Avalanche is main STAB, -4 prio doesn’t matter bc you’re slower than everything anyway
-last 2 moves are up too you, Roar phases, Toxic also dissuades setup while annoying P2, Spin clears hazards (good bc resist SR), EQ gives more offensive coverage and helps somewhat vs dnite/grass/other fliers

Set Details
Describe the other aspects of the set such as what the EVs do and nature/item.
-EVs + nature maximise phys bulk making it fat af
-lefties gives passive recovery while rocky punishes the physical contact attackers which it walls
-not even 2HKO’d by Jolly LO Mamo’s Icicle Crash after lefties
-sturdy can be useful to take strong special attacks in a pinch. Ice body should be used if paired with a Hail setter (eg Aboma), and can be used anyway bc sturdy is rarely relevant. Own tempo is “eh” bc nothing really induces confusion except hurricane which you don’t want to take anyway

Usage Tips
Describe how to use the Pokemon in question.
-switch into most physical attackers
-watch out for status and surprise special attacks, eg toxic m-lop and ice beam dnite (ice beam dnite is kinda standard though)

Team Options
Describe some teammates that would be a good idea to pair with this Pokemon.
-chansey lmao
-P2 (handles dnite)
-hail is cool but not necessary
-stuff weak to rocks/other hazards, as lugg is easily the best spinner in the tier. notably this includes M-lop/loom
-stuff weak to M-lop/bees

Specially Defensive
Avalugg @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy / Ice Body
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Recover
- Avalanche
- Toxic / Roar
- Rapid Spin / Earthquake / Mirror Coat

Overview

  • Most defining Pokemon in the metagame atm
  • Fairy is a solid offensive and defensive type in general, hitting common Fighting and Dark Pokemon for SE damage, while tanking those attacks in return
  • Can hit on both physical and special spectrums, often at the same time, making it hard to check
  • Pixilate turns all its Normal moves into Fairy, and it has access to all Normal moves thanks to Eevee, giving it an incredibly diverse movepool
  • Has access to one of the strongest attacks in all of STABmons: Pixilate-boosted Boomburst, with 0 drawbacks
  • Even off a base 65 Attack, Pixilate-boosted FakeSpeed can revenge and KO quite a lot of threats in STABmons (unboosted mega lop, keldeo, weavile are easily dispatched)
  • Has access to Judgment so it can carry any coverage type it wants
  • Has unblockable Rapid Spin for team support
  • Specs set aren't as common but have incredible power
  • Support sets are no slouch either with a strong Boomburst even univested
  • Mixed sets have to sacrifice bulk or Speed
  • Without the right Judgment coverage it struggles with either Heatran or Ferrothorn and Scizor, 3 very common Steel types, unless it carries Hidden Power
  • Even fully invested Atk fails to KO Pokemon of even average bulk, such as Serperior and Aerodactyl if Sylveon lacks a Pixie Plate or LO

Mixed Judgment
Sylveon @ Earth Plate
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 252 Atk / 112 SpA / 144 Spe
Lonely Nature
- Judgment
- Fake Out
- Extreme Speed
- Boomburst

Set Comments

Moves

  • Judgment gives Sylveon Ground coverage to hit most Steels, mainly Heatran
  • Fake Out + Extreme Speed is a strong revenge tactic
  • Boomburst is a powerful special attack that hits many physical walls trying to absorb FakeSpeed

Set Details

  • Pixilate is mandatory so all of Sylveon's Normal attacks turn into STAB Fairy while also getting a boost in power
  • The Earth Plate w/ Judgment OHKOs offensive variants of Heatran that switch-in to take a Boomburst, all others are 2HKO
  • 144 Speed makes Sylveon faster than 0 Speed Heatran so Sylveon can 2HKO with Judgment
  • 252 Lonely make Sylveon's Fake Out + Extreme Speed hit hardest for revenging
  • Remaining EVs go into SpA
  • A Flame Plate can be run over Earth to OHKO Ferrothorn with some prior damage, OHKOs Scizor and Mega Scizor
  • An optional spread of 252 Atk / 252 Spa / 4 SpD, Brave can be used to maximize both attacks while inhibiting Speed

Usage Tips

  • Use FakeSpeed to revenge targets and force switches
  • If you predict a physical wall is coming in, or just want to do as much damage as possible, use Boomburst
  • Use Judgment on predicted Steel-types

Team Options

  • Anything that can remove Steel-types when Sylveon lacks the right Plate
  • Keldeo and Volcanion can handle Heatran, Ferrothorn, and Scizor but don't like switching into Ferrothorn for fear of status
  • Volc must also watch out for Earth Power
  • Magnezone can trap Ferrothorn and Scizor and remove them for Sylveon
  • Psychic or Flying type to counter Mega Venu/Amoonguss. Tornadus, Talonflame,

GP 1/1
Overview

Meloetta is a reckoning force in 1v1 thanks to a mix of handful factors. Its Normal / Psychic typing gives it only two weaknesses, which is very useful in the metagame. Alongside its typing, Meloetta is gifted with great bulk, allowing it to sponge hits from common attackers such as Kyurem-B, Mega Charizard X, and Garchomp. Its true power doesn't lie only in its defensive capabilities, though, but rather in its offensive traits. Meloetta has great Special Attack, which, with the help of Choice Specs, allows it to OHKO a number of threats in the metagame with Hyper Beam. Combined with great coverage moves, Meloetta is an amazing specially offensive Pokemon. However, Meloetta's strongest attacking move, Hyper Beam, is a rechargeable move, meaning if it misses the OHKO, there's a very high chance you're going to lose the battle, since there will be an extra turn wasted. Even though it has the bulk, Meloetta still loses to most hyper offensive Pokemon such as Choice Band Garchomp, Choice Specs Porygon-Z, and Mega Mawile, which are able to outspeed or tank Meloetta's moves and OHKO it. As a specially offensive Pokemon, it also has trouble getting past specially defensive Pokemon.

- Psyshock / Energy Ball

Set Comments

Moves

Hyper Beam is easily the best STAB move for Meloetta, with 150 Base Power allowing it to nail the OHKO on most Pokemon that don't resist it or aren't specially defensive such as Kyurem-B, both Mega Charizard X and Y, and Mega Slowbro. Shadow Ball allows Meloetta to notably hit Ghost-types that are immune to Hyper Beam, more importantly Aegislash. Energy Ball is another coverage move, allowing Meloetta to hit Rock-, Water-, and Ground-types super effectively, notably Mega Slowbro and Rhyperior. If you need a way to hit specially defensive Pokemon, especially Chansey, Psyshock can be used as a secondary STAB move, allowing Meloetta to hit their lower Defense. Trick stops defensive Pokemon and level 1 foes from defeating Meloetta, especially Chansey, Aron, Mew, and Deoxys-D, though, it needs both Trick and Psyshock to defeat Chansey.

Set Details

Maximum Special Attack and a Modest nature maximize Meloetta's offensive capabilities, allowing it to nail the OHKO on various threats, while 248 HP EVs give it enough bulk to endure an Outrage from both Kyurem-B and Mega Charizard X, as well as a Hyper Beam from Choice Scarf Porygon-Z. 24 Special Defense EVs allow Meloetta to live a Timid Mega Charizard Y Blast Burn and OHKO it back with Hyper Beam.

Usage Tips

The move that you should pick depends on what your team is weak to, since all of these moves perfectly work on Meloetta with no drawback. The only time you should be afraid of sending out Meloetta is against Sturdy users and Mega Mawile, though you should also be wary of Choice Band users. Do not use Hyper Beam if you are not sure if it's going to OHKO the foe, since you will be wasting an extra turn, giving the opponent the upper hand.

Team Options

Mega Charizard X pairs well with Meloetta, as it can take on opposing Steel-types and specially defensive Pokemon thanks to its ability in Tough Claws and typing in Fire / Dragon. Mega Mawile is also a good teammate to Meloetta despite not being able to destroy Steel-type Pokemon, though it can survive most Choice Band attackers, notably Kyurem-B, and Choice Specs users such as Meloetta. Mega Gyarados works fine with Meloetta thanks to its bulky offensive nature and ability in Mold Breaker, allowing it to defeat Sturdy users, Ghost-types, and specially defensive Pokemon. Greninja works well alongside Meloetta thanks to its relative high Speed and offensive stats, allowing it to nail the OHKO on Dragonite, Choice Band Garchomp, Mega Mawile, and Mega Gyarados with Choice Specs.

Strategy Comments

Other Options

Focus Blast can be used on Meloetta to hit Steel- and Rock-type Pokemon super effectively, though it isn't very reliable and using other coverage moves are more worth it. However, it has its perks in being able to hit Heatran and Tyranitar. Uproar is also another choice but not that great, as its only purpose is to allow Meloetta to hit behind the foe's Substitute to and prevent being put to sleep by moves such as Mega Venusaur's Sleep Powder. Psychic can be used instead of Psyshock if you want another strong special STAB move and if you already have your ways of dealing with specially defensive Pokemon.

Checks and Counters

**Mega Mawile**: Mega Mawile is backed up with an amazing typing in Steel / Fairy, allowing it to survive Meloetta's strongest move, Hyper Beam, as well as its other coverage moves. Furthermore, Sucker Punch has a high chance of OHKOing Meloetta.

**Substitute**: Substitute, commonly used by Whimsicott, allows the foe to block Meloetta's Hyper Beam. Other Pokemon, such as Mega Charizard X, might surprisingly carry Substitute just to avoid being hit by rechargeable moves and force Meloetta to recharge.

**Dragonite**: Protected by Multiscale, Dragonite is able to sponge any attack from Meloetta directed toward it and KO back.

**Mega Gyarados**: Mega Gyarados is able to sponge any hit from Meloetta, even Hyper Beam and Energy Ball, and OHKO back with Crunch.

**Mega Sableye**: Mega Sableye has the best typing to check Meloetta, as it is immune to both of its main STAB moves, Hyper Beam and Psychic. It isn't greatly harmed by other moves and can either set up with Calm Mind or defeat Meloetta with Foul Play or Metal Burst.

**Chansey**: Chansey can tank any move that Meloetta uses and defeats it easily if it doesn't carry both Trick and Psyshock.

**Faster Choice Band and Choice Specs users**: Even though Meloetta has great bulk, it still falls prey to hyper offensive Pokemon, especially the ones that run Choice Band and Choice Specs such as Choice Band Garchomp and Choice Specs Porygon-Z.

I won't be QC'ing for a while but I'll leave this QC here as a parting gift:

Since it's the standard sets that are being used, Psychic should be on the set as the 1st option where Psyshock is currently listed, because of the fact that it's the most used Psychic type move on Meloetta, and the reason for that would very likely be Serene Grace. I know that it's somewhat of a slim chance for the secondary effect to activate in 1 turn, but players often get those Psychic drops in a prolonged battle, which are useful since Meloetta can usually take a hit or two and then hit for increased damage after the drops.

As for Trick, it doesn't beat Mew when the Mew is speed invested, which is often, nor is it guaranteed to beat Deo-D when it's speed invested, which also is often.

I already QCd Volcanion here, I'm pretty sure it's up to LaxLapras to implement them / discuss them because I checked quickly and I don't think he made any changes.
Implemented, did not change:
  • Zapdos with Volt Switch. This is still good, people still use it, just you don't.
  • Earth Power hits Heatran with more accuracy and power than fire blast:
    252 SpA Volcanion Earth Power vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Heatran: 372-440 (96.3 - 113.9%) -- 75% chance to OHKO
    252 SpA Adaptability Volcanion Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Heatran in Sun: 342-404 (88.6 - 104.6%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO
  • Life Orb is not in OO because imo its a toss up on which item you want, and the set is essentially the same otherwise. I don't consider the set a dedicated choice user as much as a mixed adaptability user.
  • Added Garchomp, but kept team options pretty much the same. Yes there is probably more specific support for each set, but what I have covers the basic, common, and important needs for both sets, allowing Volc to maxmize its potential

Fair enough, QC 1/3.
Guess I might as well tag Lcass4919 Kl4ng Grim for second qc.

I have not played AAA in months and have no idea what the meta is like at the moment. You should probably remove me from the team because I don't really have time to relearn a meta at the moment. Maybe I'll come back when I have more time. :)

The Xatu Warrior
Reserving baecanion [AAA]
Overview

- Good Offensive Typing
- Great spammable move in Steam Eruption
- Combined with great SpA stat
- Large enough attack stat and solid movepool for mixed set
- Good natural bulk makes it difficult to ohko and revenge kill
-Good defensive typing with x4 resists to Ice and Fire
- Slow for an offensive threat
- Weak to Stealth Rocks
- Attacks can be predictable
-lack of setup or recovery really hinders volcanions potential. as its sets are severely limited mostly due to it.

Choice Specs Wallbreaker

Volcanion @ Choice Specs
Ability: Tinted Lens
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature / Naive Nature

- Steam Eruption
- Fire Blast
- Scald
- Will-o-Wisp / Flare Blitz / Sludge Wave Bomb. theres no reason to have that extra 5 damage, over the 30% chance to potentially poison something like a fire type with deso land is worth it. a small change, but its basically otherwise negligibly stronger

Flare Blitz hits Goodra, which is usually a solid check, for a possible 2HKO. Sludge Wave Bomb can hit the rare bulky Fairy type foe in AAA, such as Sylveon or Azumarill.

- Use Volcanion to weaken and burn special walls to allow teammates to later break through them
- Volcanion can serve as a risky check to Entei and Victini due to its x4 Fire Resist. Switching into one of their fire moves generally gives you a free move afterwards.

- Pursuit users like Tyranitar can check special walls like Goodra, Meloetta, and Chansey

Adaptability Mixed Attacker
Volcanion @ Choice Scarf / Life Orb
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Steam Eruption
- Fire Blast
- Flare Blitz
- Focus Blast / Earth Power

Set Comments

Moves

- Steam Eruption is Volcanion's best move. It provides a strong, accurate STAB with a 30% chance to burn.
- Fire Blast is Volcanion's alternate STAB move that provides great coverage in tandem with Steam Eruption.
- Flare Blitz provides a powerful physical STAB option to surprise and defeat many checks designed for Volcanion's special attacks, such as RegenVest Meloetta.
- Focus Blast provides coverage for foes with an immunity to Volcanion's STAB such as Flash Fire Ferrothorn.

The Naughty Nature gives Volcanion max speed without hindering his attack stat or his physical defence, both being really important to Volcanio. Adaptability is chosen as it increases the power of Volcanion's phisical and special stabs while still keeping the ability to burn switchins.

Usage Tips

- Volcanion is great at bluffing its item, do your best to not make it obvious that you have a Choice Scarf until yuo have the matchup you want so you can surprise and OHKO the foe.
- Use U-Turn and Volt Switch to pivot Volcanion in against defensive or slower opponents
- If you can predict a special defensive check switchin, like Meloetta, and defeat it with Flare Blitz, Choice Scarf Steam Eruption will often plow through the opponent's remaining team.

- Garchomp provides an electric immunity as well as a strong offensive partner to defeat defensive teams. It appreciates Volcanion's ability to absorb Will-O-Wisp.
- Magnet Pull Infernape is able to trap and defeat steel type Volcanion checks such as Ferrothorn and Heatran.

- Regenerator can make use of Volcanion's natural bulk and defensive typing to improve its longevity at the cost of power.i think this should be a official set, and not just an other option. volcanion appriciates the recovery, and if you run specs regen, it still nets 2hkos on suprising pokemon, while becoming a massive pain to offense to handle. items could be assault vest, and specs. to my experience, specs regen volcanion has been way more vital when used then any other set.sacrificing only slight damage output (oh no, you need stealth rocks to 2hko latios with steam eruption now.) the survivability definitely made up for the fact that specs volc alone is both super bulky, and extremely hard hitting.

Checks and Counters

Special Defensive Walls: Volcanion has a tough time breaking walls like Chansey as well as RegenVest users like Meloetta and Manaphy. These checks can also hinder Volcanion's effectiveness with status or Knock Off, or pivot out.

Bulky Water Types: With a resistance to both of Volcanion's STABs, bulky waters such as Poison Heal Suicune Vaporeon (banned) and Manaphy have the stats to check even the Tinted Lens set.

Fast Electric Types: Thundurus and Raikou can outspeed Volcanion without a Choice Scarf and OHKO it easily.

Hazards: Due to Volcanion's Stealth Rock weakness, it can be quickly worn down by hazards, mitigating the effectiveness of its bulk.

add: flash fire ferrothorn beats non-tinted sets. and can use them to set up hazards.

add: latios/latias: doesnt counter due to volcs insane attacking stat..(seriously. 252+ SpA Choice Specs Volcanion Steam Eruption vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Latios: 136-161 (45.4 - 53.8%) -- 44.1% chance to 2HKO) thats not even factoring in an ability. non tinted volcanion DOES however, struggle to ohko the duo, since they resist its stab, and can ohko it if it lacks hp investment. a check in both scenarios. scarf fails to ohko, and specs fails to live.
just gunna bold stuff i think should be changed.

Implemented, did not change:
  • Kept Regen in OO, I've tried this out on a couple teams, and did not find it near as effective. Volcanion really likes just being able to spam tinted Steam Eruptions, or do massive damage with Adapt. This is a decent set, but not worthy of its own imo. However, if motherlove agrees with you, I can add it
  • Did not add Ferrothorn to Checks/Counters. Tinted beats it, the non-Tinted set has Focus Blast specifically for Ferrothorn
  • Did not add Latios, With Tinted Lens as the #1 set (Base set) Latios is not switching in
252+ SpA Choice Specs Tinted Lens Volcanion Steam Eruption vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Latios: 272-322 (90.9 - 107.6%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO

latios is still a check. but fair enough.

Can't say I've ever used it or seen it used. I guess wait for 3rd QC (or just ask Klang on PS). Thought tbh, I'd much rather run the electric immunity so idk.
Also latios is probably still worth a mention because he RKs both the specs and scarf set.

Tornadus, Talonflame, Meag Pidgeot, Meloetta.

Choice Specs
Sylveon @ Choice Specs

EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature

Set Comments

Moves

  • Pixilate Boomburst is one of the most spammable moves in the game with no immunities. It has immense power and can easily 2HKO resists such as Ferrothorn and Scizor
  • Psyshock is mostly only used for Poison-types
  • HP Ground for Heatran
  • Baton Pass keeps up momentum before you can soften up walls for later

Set Details

  • Pixilate is mandatory so all of Sylveon's Normal attacks turn into STAB Fairy while also getting a boost in power
  • Modest and max Special Attack backed up by Choice Specs turn Sylveon into a potent wallbreaker capable of 2hkoing common Fairy resists
  • 252 Speed helps it stay ahead of some slower Pokemon, but 252 HP can be used instead for an increase in overall bulk, as Sylveon is already slow

Usage Tips

  • Spam Boomburst
  • If you predict a Steel-type coming in that's weak to Ground use HP Ground
  • Other Steel types take less from HP Ground than a resisted Boomburst
  • Psyshock should be used for Poison-types (Boomburst is stronger versus Chansey)
  • Baton Pass is helpful for escaping offensive Steels like Scizor, which can Roost off Boomburst damage and threaten Sylveon with Steel STAB

Team Options

  • Trappers such as Magnezone and Dugtrio can remove Scizor, Ferrothorn (in the case of Mag) and Heatran (Dugtrio)
  • A Knock Off user / Fighting type to beat Chansey is appreciated
  • Use Banded Tyranitar, Terrakion, or Mega Lopunny
  • Spikes support is generally more helpful than Rocks to soften Steels
  • Ferrothorn and Garchomp are good Spike setters that can also use Rocks if you prefer
  • Keep hazards off the field as Sylveon needs to be able to switch in/out often
  • Mega Lopunny can also spin, but Starmie and Defog Landorus are better hazard removers

Strategy Comments

Other Options

  • A bulky support set with any combination of Rapid Spin, Heal Bell, Wish+Protect/Recover, Glare, and the move Boomburst can support the team while still having some offensive presence
  • HP can be run alongside Judgment to beat Heatran, Ferrothorn, and Scizor on one set
  • Swords Dance + Extreme Speed
  • Workup
  • Other plates besides Earth/Flame can work but they synergize the best with Fairy. The only other option that helps versus checks is Sky Plate

Checks and Counters

Steel-types: Heatran is probably the most reliable check if Sylveon lacks Ground coverage thanks to its solid all around bulk and SE STAB
  • Ferrothorn is bulkier than Heatran but not as offensively threatening
  • Scizor/Mega has good bulk (when invested) and the best offensive presence of the three
  • Magnezone can work but it's often choiced and is worn down easily

Bulky Poisons: Mega Venu is essentially a hard counter with a full defensive investment, SE STAB, & recovery
  • Amoonguss is nearly as reliable as Mega Venu but will not like taking repeated Fire Judgments unless it has AV
  • Both most be wary of Psyshock

Fire/Flying types: They resist Fairy and both common Judgment types
  • Mega Charizard Y has sun-boosted Blue Flares to threaten Sylveon out plus Oblivion Wing helps mitigate the damage it took switching in
  • A specially defensive Talonflame set can setup on Sylveon while only fearing the 2hko from the Specs set

Specially bulky walls: Chansey can't be 2HKO'd ever and can status/whittle down with Seismic Toss
  • Porygon2 is easily 2hko'd by Specs Boomburst but otherwise can tank any other hit well and retaliate with its own Boomburst or Glare it
I think this is as good as it's gonna get with my schedule.

Implemented this+Sobi's GP check.

imo Ransei should finally QC my Zard X :^)

Reserving baecanion [AAA]

Overview

Volcanion is a powerful attacker that uses its great typing and signature move in Steam Eruption to be a huge threat in AAA. Its high attacking stats and diverse move set enable it to perform well as a mixed attacker. Additionally, its strong natural bulk and unique typing that provides x4 resistances to Fire and Ice moves allows Volcanion to survive fairly strong hits hits, and even switch into attackers like Entei and Victini. Unfortunately, Volcanion's mediocre speed, weakness to Stealth Rocks, offensive predictability, and lack of recovery mitigate its effectiveness to an extent. Overall, Volcanion is a powerful, bulky attacker that has the stats and moves to break through many walls in the AAA metagame.

As a stronger version of Scald, Steam Eruption is one of the best moves in the game; Volcanion should use this STAB move whenever possible as its power, accuracy, and burn chance can be devastating for opponents, and the only drawback is the move's PP. Fire Blast is another powerful STAB option for Volcanion, but has the drawbacks of lower accuracy and chance of burning. Scald is a safer but weker alternative to Steam Eruption, allowing Volcanion to preserve Steam Eruption PP and ensure a hit. The fourth move is rarely used on a Tinted Lens set, but Will-O-Wisp, Flare Blitz, and Sludge Bomb are all solid options. Will-O-Wisp can burn special defensive walls, and cannot burn Volcanion if you hit a Magic Bounce user. Flare Blitz can take down Goodra, which would otherwise check Volcanion. Sludge Bomb is a good way to hit the rare bulky fairy in the tier, such as Sylveon or Azumarill.

Set Details

The SpA EVs, Modest Nature, and Choice Specs all maximize Volcanion's power, while Tinted Lens allows it to beat many foes that would otherwise check it. The combination of Choice Specs and Tinted Lens is ideal for allowing Volcanion to spam Steam Eruption. A Naive nature should be used if Volcanion is using Flare Blitz.

Usage Tips

Use Steam Eruption whenever you can, unless the opponent has an immunity. Using Volcanion to weaken and burn special walls will allow teammates to later break through your opponents team. Ideally, bring Volcanion into play by using a slow teammate's U-Turn or Volt Switch. Volcanion can serve as a risky check to Entei and Victini due to its x4 Fire resist; switching into one of their fire moves generally gives you a free move afterwards.

Team Options

Special Attackers with Knock Off, such as Thundurus and Manaphy, are great teammates as they can lure in special defensive walls such as Chansey and RegenVest users like Meloetta and Goodra to significantly weaken their special defense. Zapdos provides a ground immunity, hazard removal and a slow Volt Switch/U-Turn, all of which Volcanion benefits from. Diancie provides Stealth Rock support and checks Gale Wings users that threaten Volcanion, such as Braviary. Additionally, Diancie appreciates the pressure Volcanion puts on Steel-typed foes. Pursuit users like Tyranitar can trap special walls like Goodra, Meloetta, and Chansey, removing common Volcanion checks.

Moves

Steam Eruption is Volcanion's best move; it provides a strong, accurate STAB with a 30% chance to burn. Fire Blast is Volcanion's alternate STAB move that provides great coverage in tandem with Steam Eruption. Flare Blitz provides a powerful physical STAB option to surprise and defeat many checks designed for Volcanion's special attacks, such as RegenVest Meloetta and Chansey. Focus Blast provides coverage for foes with with immunities and resistances to Volcanion's STAB moves, such as Flash Fire Ferrothorn. Earth Power more reliably hits Desolate Land Heatran, at the cost of easily defeating Ferrothorn. Focus Blast is thus the preferred option unless Volcanion's teammates can easily defeat Ferrothorn.

Set Details

The EVs are set to maximize Volcanion's special attack and speed. With a Choice Scarf, Volcanion outspeeds and OHKO foes like Raikou, Thundurus, and Choice Scarf Tyranitar. The Naughty Nature gives Volcanion maximum speed without hindering its attack stat or physical defense, both of which are important to Volcanion. Adaptability increases the power of Volcanion's physical and special STAB moves, making Volcanion extremely powerful. Life Orb is another option to further increase Volcanion's damage output; however, Volcanion's slow speed leaves it vulnerable to fast attackers like Thundurus, and the Life Orb set is often outclassed by Choice Specs Tinted Lens. That said, Volcanion becomes an incredible stallbreaker with Life Orb.
Usage Tips

Volcanion is great at bluffing its item, do your best to not make it obvious that you have a Choice Scarf until you have the desired matchup so you can surprise and OHKO the foe. Use U-Turn and/or Volt Switch to pivot Volcanion freely into play. If you can predict an opponent's special defensive check switch and defeat it with Flare Blitz, Choice Scarf Steam Eruption will often plow through the opponent's remaining team later in the match.

Garchomp provides an electric immunity as well as a strong offensive partner to defeat defensive teams. It appreciates Volcanion's ability to absorb Will-O-Wisp. Magnet Pull Infernape is able to trap and defeat steel type Volcanion checks such as Ferrothorn and Heatran.

Other Options

Motor Drive can surprise threats like Thundurus, giving Volcanion a free switch or move as well as a speed boost. Swift Swim makes Volcanion a devastating fast attacker on rain teams. Magnet Pull seems appealing at first, but is generally outclassed by Heatran and Infernape. It can still be effective with the right matchup. Regenerator can make use of Volcanion's natural bulk and defensive typing to improve its longevity at the cost of power.

Checks and Counters

Special Defensive Walls: Volcanion has a tough time breaking walls like Chansey as well as RegenVest users like Meloetta and Manaphy. These checks can also hinder Volcanion's effectiveness with status or Knock Off, or pivot out.

Bulky Water Types: With a resistance to both of Volcanion's STABs, bulky waters such as Poison Heal Vaporeon and Manaphy have the stats to check even the Tinted Lens set.

I'd mention that Naughty is an option or add it to the set if you want slightly more physical bulk which can be helpful, for example
0 Atk Landorus-T Precipice Blades vs. 0 HP / 0- Def Sylveon: 282-333 (85.1 - 100.6%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
0 Atk Landorus-T Precipice Blades vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Sylveon: 253-298 (76.4 - 90%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Latios is good as a teammate for handling Poison-types, and I think U-turn / Volt Switch / Parting Shot users deserve a mention for getting it in safely

HP Fire is ok on Specs, probably deserving of a slash

I used Extreme Speed on my fat Sylveon sets. It was mediocre but it did what it needed to - picking off things at low health, weakening Keldeo's Water Spout which it assumes it can use for the kill once it sees Leftovers

Faster FakeSpeed users could go in C&C as they can revenge kill. Excadrill can live Sylveon's FakeSpeed and kill. Bisharp can also live excepting LO 252+ and even then it's a roll

This is very nitpicky as there's naturally very little to fix

Reserving Mega Mawile for 1v1

Overview
Mega Mawile is a great pokemon in the 1v1 meta as well as being incredibly influential at all levels of play. Mega Mawile has a great attack stat, boosted significantly by Huge Power. Its pre-mega ability intimidate alongside its great defensive typing allows Mega Mawile to act as a bulky tank. However, Mega Mawile is hindered by its poor speed and will rarely outspeed its opponent.

Swords Dance allows Mega Mawile to boost its large attack stat to near unstoppable levels after only one turn of set up. Play Rough is the main STAB move that will do large amounts of damage to almost all pokemon. Sucker Punch is the only available priority move allowing it to 2HKO enemies that live its previous attacks before they KO Mega Mawile. Iron Head is the secondary STAB, which is slightly weaker, but more accurate.
Set Details

Adamant nature as well as 252 EVs in attack emphasizes Mega Mawile's pysical power. HP and Special Defense are to help survive attacks, as Mega Mawile is generally too slow to outspeed foes. Intimidate hinders physical attackers
