OP adapted from erisia and his thread, found here
(in need of banner)

Type Cores are cores that originate from 3 types that work well together. They can be great offensively, or have really good defensive synergy. Some examples of popular type cores are the FWG (Fire, Water, Grass) and PDF (Psychic, Dark, Fighting). The goal of this project will be to have the community come up with cores using the types assigned that week, and hopefully discover new combinations in the process. It'll be more focused on type affiliations and type synergy, and not so much on partners and threats.

Please don't just copy cores from another thread and use those as your own, but if you have different mons and sets that is okay. You also generally shouldn't pick the same three Pokémon as another poster unless they have sufficiently different sets and functions.

Innovation is great, as long as it's viable and effective. If you've got a problem with someone else's submission, feel free to provide constructive criticism. Please note that arguments and insults will not be tolerated though. Reserving cores is allowed. 1 core per person please, as this will make it easier to vote / pick a winner. The rest of the rules are below.

2. After the week has passed, voting for the best cores will take place on Saturday at 12:00 GMT. Everyone is allowed 1 vote. You may not vote for the same person twice.

3. The winners and their cores will be placed in the Hall of Fame.
Have fun! For information on previous week's themes, please have a look at the hall of fame below.

With the start of the new meta, things have changed quite a bit. Since this is the first week of this thread, I'd like to keep it simple here. This week will be
. One of the most basic (but effective!) cores as of now.

Submissions will be open from today to May 20th at 12:00 PM EST, giving you five days to post your core. Please have three Pokemon on your core. Have fun!

camerupt is beautiful lmao

Camerupt @ Cameruptite
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 Def
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Toxic

Slowking @ Colbur Berry
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 160 Def / 100 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Psyshock
- Thunder Wave
- Slack Off

Virizion @ Lum Berry
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Leaf Blade
- Zen Headbutt
- Swords Dance

While I hate Mega Camerupt, this is a bulky offense core I see and use often when using Camerupt. Its primarily centered around Camerupt and its defensive synergy with both of these Pokemon. Camerupt offers a check to Electric types and a way to break grass types that stand in Virizion's way. Slowking provides a much needed Medicham answer and is able to Thunder Wave threats to this core such as Virizion. The combination of Virizion + Slowking covers every ground type and their coverage. Virizion can act as a late game cleaner and also provides a check to wallbreakers like CB tyrantrum with its speed. I've found in the past its really hard to use Camerupt without these two. The core mostly struggles with opposing Virizion and other grass types but has tools to break them.

Alomomola @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 120 HP / 136 Def / 252 SpD
Bold Nature
- Wish
- Protect
- Scald
- Toxic

Camerupt-Mega @ Cameruptite
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 168 HP / 172 SpA / 168 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 Def
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Toxic

Abomasnow @ Life Orb
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Mild Nature
- Blizzard
- Giga Drain
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard

This is a pretty decent core I found success with. Abomasnow and Mega Camerupt are phenomenal wallbreakers, but they can be worn down pretty easily. Pairing a bulky water wish-passer like Alomomola to give those wallbreakers added longevity. Mega Camerupt walls electric types and threatens grass types that are problematic for Alomomola, and it provides a good check to bug, poison, and fire types for Abomasnow, and for bulky steels that wall snow and can't be poisoned by Alomomola like Registeel and Bronzong. This Rupt also has enough speed to creep tank Rhyperior and Mega Steelix. Alomomola also eats up fire and steel hits for Aboma, and water for Rupt. Alo also wish passes to both for extra health to continue punching holes through opposing teams. It also does a decent job against scarf Tyrantrum, which threatens this core. Abomasnow rips through water and grass type Pokemon, as well as threaten every hazard remover in the tier bar Hitmontop, which, if rocks are on the field, does some important passive damage (along with hail) to weaken opposing teams to the point of everything being ohkoed by Abomasnow and Mega Camerupt. Virizion and Venusaur can be a bit of a problem, so Golbat can be a good partner. Tyrantrum and Houndoom can also be a challenge, so Hitmontop or Poliwrath works well with this core.

This is a pretty decent FWG core that is cool because it fits many roles on a team. CM Delphox acts as a wincon and it helps deal with Venusaur for the rest of the core. Blastoise acts as a defensive backbone to the core as well as a hazard remover. It can also take status for Delphox and Tangrowth and remove it with Refresh. Tangrowth can wallbreak and put threats to Delphox to sleep. Tangrowth also serves as a good pivot and can remove LO recoil with Regenerator. Unfortunately, none of the Pokemon are physical, meaning special walls can be a pain. Opposing Delphoxes can also be difficult for this core to handle. Overall, a simple core, but one that has been fairly successful for me.

Delphox @ Life Orb
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Psyshock
- Fire Blast
- Grass Knot

Blastoise @ Leftovers
Ability: Rain Dish
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Rapid Spin
- Toxic
- Refresh

Tangrowth @ Life Orb
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 132 HP / 252 SpA / 124 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Leaf Storm
- Focus Blast
- Sludge Bomb
- Sleep Powder

A classic core that goes way back. IMO, pulling off a defensive approach with this on a tier like RU is pretty difficult cause we dont really have defensive fire types (fatboar and spdef camel are really subpar right now) so yeah, offensive is the way to go here.

SD Kabutops is a really cool mon, being able to setup on stuff like fletchinder is fantastic but of course it demands support. Venusaur helps to dealing with basically every problem kabutops may have like beating opposing bulky waters, ground types and opposing grass types on its own and it appreciates kabutops beating flying types. Emboar is the final member of this core, completing the always colorful f/w/g, being a more appropiate fire check for mons like houndoom and checking opposing venusaur and virizion with a scarf equipped. And also appreciate kabutops dealing with fletch. Fun mons!
Kabutops @ Lum Berry
Ability: Weak Armor
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Aqua Jet
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge

Venusaur @ Life Orb
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 29 HP
- Sleep Powder / Knock Off
- Sludge Bomb
- Leaf Storm
- Synthesis

Emboar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Reckless
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

This is an offensive core consisting of LO Sneasel + Band Granbull supported by trapper Magneton. Magneton traps steels, most notably mega steelix, which allow for sneasel and granbull to spam their coverage mons more easily. Magneton also beats bulky waters like alomomola and blastoise and fairies like diancie, granbull and aromatisse which greatly assists the two other mons. Sneasel has two great coverage moves in icicle crash, which hits a multitude of types super effectively, and knock off which is a generally spammable move to rid opponent's mons of items. Sneasel also possesses traits in being able to trap psychics like sigilyph, meloetta, hoopa, etc that can threaten the other two mons in this core. Granbull is the final mon and with a band set can notably add to the defensive synergy by checking fighting types and threatening them as well. In particular Granbull can deal with mons like scrafty and gurdurr which threaten this core as well as dark types like absol and opposing sneasels.

Balance core with eviliote magneton.
Either Drapion with Swords dance and wish/clearic audino. or Calm mind Mega-Audino and scarf drapion. id recommend the latter for a more defensive team.
The Swords dance set would fit nice on bulky offensive squads. Alternate Magneton sets might become viable in later meta's but for now I would stick with evioltie.
Stay trappin

Drapion @ Lum Berry

Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature

LureDino works excellently with Drapion as it can lure in most of its checks and counters being stuff like Steelix and Camerupt. Healing Wish also provides a back up recovery for Drapion in case it gets screwed over while setting up. Aggron paves way for Drapion to sweep by crippling Drapion C&C with Low Kicks and Fire Punches. It also makes for a good Fletch resist I guess and it can also appreciate having stuff lured in by Audino.

EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

Wanted to go with a more offensive core so I picked this. Mawile sets rocks to break sashes and can also SD Pass to Sneasel to make Sneasel even more threatening. Sneasel is here to provide fast offensive pressure to the team and benefits from the SD Passing that Mawile offers. Togetic is here for resistances and as a special attacker for the core. Cheers!

basically did this because watchog asked me to, he also told me that he'll rather not take mlix into consideration for the core, so there's that too. basically this core revolves around the idea of mawile sd passing with the tech of swords dance > toxic and the use of shuca over lefties, allows it to take advantage of stuff like ground coverage to get an sd up and pass on to drapion. then drapion is allowed to use agility whenever seen fit to be put above the opposition on speed terms and then sweep from there. aromatisse is to ensure the general consistency of the core by keeping them healthy as and when ideal.

Drapion @ Lum Berry
