[OVERVIEW]

Rotom-W is one of the tier's best pivots and one of the primary staples of VoltTurn offense. Its Speed tier gives it good flexibility for investment to outspeed various slow offensive Pokemon such as Primarina and Scizor while also allowing it to outspeed Pokemon such as Nidoking and Timid Suicune when Rotom-W's Speed is maximized. The set of resistances its typing gives, along with its ability Levitate, allows Rotom-W to check several prevalent threats in the UU metagame such as Scizor, Mega Pidgeot, Gliscor, and Mega Aerodactyl. Its Electric / Water typing is also good offensively, allowing Rotom-W to pressure Ground-types like Hippowdon, Mega Steelix, and Gliscor, which block its Volt Switch, with fear of a super effective Hydro Pump. Rotom-W's access to Will-O-Wisp, Thunder Wave, and Toxic gives it a wide array of options to hinder foes by crippling their Attack stat, undermining their Speed, or harming their longevity. Unfortunately, its typing leaves it mostly useless versus Grass- and Dragon-type Pokemon such as Latias, Mega Altaria, Celebi, and Amoonguss. Rotom-W has good defenses, but they are somewhat undermined by its poor HP stat, and its lack of reliable recovery also makes keeping Rotom-W healthy throughout a match somewhat difficult.

Moves

Volt Switch allows Rotom-W to generate momentum for its team while doing moderate damage to foes and pressure Water-types like Mantine and Starmie. Hydro Pump is Rotom-W's Water-type STAB attack, and it allows Rotom-W to pressure Ground-types like Hippowdon, Mamoswine, and Gliscor, which would otherwise prevent it from using Volt Switch. Toxic lets Rotom-W hinder switch-ins like Latias, Seismitoad, and Gastrodon with chip damage. Alternatively, Rotom-W can use Will-O-Wisp to cripple physical attackers like Scizor, Cobalion, and Alolan Muk and also get minor chip damage off on other switch-ins to Rotom-W like Mega Sceptile. Pain Split gives Rotom-W a form of recovery, but because it is based on the foe's HP stat, it is not very reliable and is easily exploitable. Thunder Wave is another option for Rotom-W that lets it cripple faster attackers like Hydreigon and Mega Beedrill.

Set Details
========

132 Speed EVs allow Rotom-W to outspeed all Pokemon up to and including Timid Primarina, while 252 HP EVs and 124 Defense EVs with a Bold nature give Rotom-W an impressive amount of physical bulk. An alternative spread of 252 HP / 168 Def / 88 Spe with a Bold nature can be used in order to give Rotom-W some extra bulk while still outspeeding maximum Speed Adamant Scizor and Jolly Crawdaunt. Leftovers gives Rotom-W a form of passive recovery.

Usage Tips
========

The combination of Hydro Pump to threaten Ground-types and Volt Switch makes Rotom-W great when used to generate momentum for your team. Bring Rotom-W in on predicted resisted moves such as Scizor's Bullet Punch and Mega Pidgeot's attacks or on free switches from other team members' U-turn or Volt Switch. However, Rotom-W is not as bulky as it seems at first glance, and its unreliable recovery leaves it prone to being worn down very quickly by unresisted attacks like Choice Band Scizor's U-turn and Mega Aerodactyl's Stone Edge, so think carefully when switching Rotom-W directly into attacks. Use your status move of choice as a generally safe middle-ground play for when you are unsure whether your opponent will stay in or switch to a Ground-type.

Team Options
========

Rotom-W is one of the primary components of the VoltTurn playstyle, and it also functions on bulky offense teams in general. As a byproduct of this, other users of U-turn and Volt Switch like Scizor, Mega Beedrill, Mega Manectric, Hydreigon, and Infernape make excellent partners for Rotom-W, as they can maintain the momentum that Rotom-W provides and provide more opportunities for Rotom-W to switch in. Rotom-W pairs well with Pursuit trappers such as Mega Absol, Krookodile, and Alolan Muk, as Rotom-W can bait in Pokemon like Latias and Celebi then switch out with Volt Switch into the Pursuit user to trap them. Wallbreakers like Nidoking and Mamoswine enjoy the free switches provided by Rotom-W's slow Volt Switch. Strong physical attackers like Mega Aerodactyl and Terrakion can break through the special walls that Rotom-W struggles with like Blissey and Alolan Muk. Setup sweepers like Scizor, Cobalion, Gliscor, and Mega Altaria enjoy the overall residual damage that Rotom-W inflicts on the opposing team with its status options and Volt Switch, as it gives them an easier time attempting to sweep. Hazard removal from Pokemon like Latias, Scizor, Starmie, and Tentacruel is appreciated by Rotom-W because the chip damage Stealth Rock provides can easily wear it down with repeated switching. Entry hazard support from Pokemon like Klefki, Tentacruel, and Nidoking makes it easier for Rotom-W to wear down the opposing team. Klefki also has good overall synergy with Rotom-W due to its ability to check opposing Grass- and Dragon-types for Rotom-W, and Rotom-W checks Fire- and Ground-types for Klefki.

Moves
========

Volt Switch allows Rotom-W to generate momentum for the team while dealing good damage to foes. Hydro Pump is Rotom-W's Water-type STAB move and strongest regular attack, and it allows Rotom-W to pressure Ground-types like Hippowdon, Mamoswine, and Gliscor, which would otherwise prevent it from using Volt Switch. The 185-Base Power Hydro Vortex that Waterium Z provides lets Rotom-W OHKO Pokemon that it normally could not like Scizor and Cobalion, and it can 2HKO Pokemon like Swampert. It also allows Rotom-W to have a one-time perfectly accurate Water-type STAB attack. Thunderbolt is Rotom-W's stronger Electric-type STAB move, and it allows Rotom-W to 2HKO Empoleon and other threats that resist Water-type attacks without causing it to switch out in the process. Thunderbolt is also Rotom-W's most reliable STAB move, as it doesn't have the chance to miss that Hydro Pump does. Thunder Wave allows Rotom-W to paralyze faster threats such as Latias, Hydreigon, and Haxorus. Hidden Power Fire is an option to give Rotom-W a secure way to 2HKO bulky Scizor, OHKO offensive Scizor, and deal super effective damage to Grass-types.

Set Details
========

252 Speed EVs with a Timid nature let Rotom-W outspeed Nidoking, Suicune, and base 80s like Mamoswine and Chandelure, and 252 EVs in Special Attack give it as much offensive presence as possible. This is supplemented by Waterium Z, which allows Rotom-W to use Hydro Vortex. It also reduces the damage Rotom-W takes from Knock Off, which assists in its matchup against Dark-types such as Krookodile. If another member of the team is already using a Z-Move, Rotom-W can opt to use Leftovers in order to give it a form of passive recovery.

Usage Tips
========

If not actively attempting to KO Pokemon, Rotom-W should be using Volt Switch to gain momentum for your team, as this is its primary job. Bring Rotom-W in primarily on free switches from other U-turn or Volt Switch users to prevent it from taking chip damage, but it can also be brought in on Pokemon that cannot damage it much, such as Choice Scarf Krookodile and non-Facade Gliscor. Rotom-W should use Thunderbolt and Hydro Pump to KO or heavily damage weakened Pokemon or Pokemon weak to Electric- and Water-type attacks without switching out. If it has it, Rotom-W should save its Z-Move for when it would be most opportune for breaking an opposing Pokemon that is unlikely to switch out, such as Klefki, Nihilego, or Scizor. It can also save its Z-Move for when it would be important to bypass an accuracy check from Hydro Pump, such as versus Gliscor or Hippowdon.

Team Options
========

Bulky offense and hyper offense teams both appreciate having Rotom-W, and it fits especially well on VoltTurn teams lacking Mega Manectric. Rotom-W heavily appreciates other Volt Switch and U-turn users like Scizor, Mega Beedrill, Infernape, and Hydreigon, as they give it more opportunities to switch in and deal damage to a foe. Pursuit users like Mega Absol, Krookodile, and Alolan Muk appreciate the free switches Rotom-W provides in order to trap Pokemon like Latias and Celebi more easily. Rotom-W enjoys entry hazard support from Pokemon like Klefki, Cobalion, and Tentacruel, as they assist in Rotom-W's ability to get KOs versus opposing Pokemon. Rotom-W also likes hazard removal from Pokemon like Starmie, Scizor, Mega Blastoise, and Latias to prevent it from taking chip damage due to repeatedly switching into Stealth Rock.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Rotom-W can use Choice items like Choice Specs and Choice Scarf with Trick, but these are usually inferior to what the pivot sets have to offer outside of the ability to permanently hinder defensive switch-ins with Trick. If its team struggles heavily with Seismitoad and Gastrodon, Rotom-W can consider using Hidden Power Grass, but it struggles to fit this on its moveset without removing something important like Pain Split or Will-O-Wisp. Offensive Rotom-W can also viably use other Z-Crystals such as Psychium Z in tandem with Dream Eater in order to KO Amoonguss and Buginium Z with Signal Beam to KO Latias, Hydreigon, and Mega Sceptile, but these are largely team dependent due to their inconsistency if the opponent lacks one of these Pokemon. This also makes Rotom-W give up the power and utility provided by Waterium Z, and it forces Rotom-W to not run either Thunderbolt or its other fourth move options, which cuts down on its overall reliability.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Seismitoad and Gastrodon**: Seismitoad and Gastrodon are immune to both of Rotom-W's STAB attacks, so they completely counter Rotom-W lacking Toxic or Hidden Power Grass.

**Grass-types**: Rotom-W is weak to Grass-type attacks, and it cannot do much to Pokemon like Amoonguss, Celebi, and Mega Sceptile with its STAB attacks. Amoonguss is also immune to Toxic, Celebi can shrug off status with Natural Cure, and Mega Sceptile is immune to Rotom-W's Electric-type attacks while being 4x resistant to its Water-type STAB moves.

**Dragon-types**: Rotom-W struggles to deal significant damage to Dragon-types like Latias, Hydreigon, Haxorus, and Mega Altaria, which resist its STAB attacks. All of these Dragon-types except for Facade Mega Altaria are very vulnerable to Will-O-Wisp or Toxic, however.

**Residual Damage**: Chip damage from sources such as Toxic, Stealth Rock, and weak U-turns can quickly wear down Rotom-W and make it difficult for Rotom-W to check the threats it wishes to check.

**Knock Off**: Rotom-W doesn't have access to reliable recovery, so if it's carrying Leftovers, it does not appreciate getting hit by Knock Off from Pokemon like Krookodile and Alolan Muk, which would greatly diminish its longevity. However, Krookodile cannot reliably switch into Rotom-W due to the threat of a Hydro Pump.

Overview:
  • Mention how its bulk is good but gets undermined by its poor HP stat.
  • Mention the lack of reliable recovery that also causes its longevity to suffer.
  • Since you mentioned Will-o-Wisp and other status options, might as well be specific about them like Thunder Wave crippling faster threats instead of simply talking about what wisp does for its teammates. Otherwise, it seems as though the other options are viable at all.
Bulky Pivot

Moves:
  • Will-O-Wisp isn't exclusively for physical attackers, so expand upon this to include getting residual damage off on switch-ins like Mega Sceptile.
  • The Pain Split line should come before the Toxic line considering it's on the main set. You can mention non-slashed options afterwards. That said, the line itself is a little all over the place; stuff like "maintaining a moderate amount of health" doesn't tell a whole lot and can be a little confusing to new readers. I'd just say how it's a form of recovery, but because it's dependent on the foe's HP, it's not very reliable and easily exploitable
  • I wouldn't say Seismitoad and Gastrodon are common switch-ins. They're the outright counters, but they aren't particularly common, so just say switch-ins.
  • Mention Thunder Wave as yet another status option as well to cripple faster attackers like Latias and Hydreigon. Paves the way for typically slower teammates as opposed to just wearing them down like the previous two. Don't say that this is an option over Will-O-Wisp or Toxic specifically, though. I've used and seen dual status with Will-O-Wisp / Toxic + Thunder Wave, since Pain Split is unreliable, and it's kinda annoying to use it against a lot of teams in the current meta without losing a ton of momentum. I suppose this could be OO worthy instead, so I'll let the rest of QC decide, but personally, if Toxic is mentioned, this should be as well.
Usage Tips:
  • This section honestly looks kinda barren. All I'm seeing right now is when to use what move.
  • A big thing with using Rotom-W is what you talked about in the Overview: the fact that it's so good at being a part of VoltTurn and generating momentum, so you can compound the points about using Volt Switch and Hydro Pump into something like "Volt Switch and Hydro Pump to threaten Ground-types make Rotom-W great when used to generate momentum for your team".
  • Talk about how you should be careful of what you bring Rotom-W in on aside from the stuff like Scizor's Bullet Punch that you mentioned because of the lack of reliable recovery and how it's not as bulky as one may think. For example, if you hard switch it into a Choice Band Scizor expecting a Bullet Punch but end up eating a U-turn, it's gonna be a lot harder for Rotom-W to check stuff it needs to. Another example is how Mega Aerodactyl's Stone Edge almost 2HKOes.
  • Aside from what Wisp would cripple, it's also usually a fairly safe mid-ground play if you're not sure whether what they're gonna do.

Offensive Pivot

Moves:
  • Aside from not forcing Rotom-W to switch out, mention how Thunderbolt is also more reliable of a STAB move, since it doesn't have the chance to miss that Hydro Pump does.
  • Your examples from the Will-O-Wisp point are kinda flimsy; you could just use Scizor again from the previous set. Same deal too regarding how Wisp isn't exclusively for physical attackers.
Set Details:
  • Regarding your Waterium Z point, keep the parts about how it allows Rotom-W to use Hydro Vortex and reducing Knock Off damage for the Krookodile matchup. Everything else (it being a 185-Base Power Hydro Vortex, the ability to get certain KOs, and perfect accuracy) belongs in the Moves section
  • The mention of Psychium Z and Buginium Z should be left to OO. Shattered Psyche is literally only for Amoonguss (and maybe some other miscelleanous stuff), which isn't super common, and in most cases you're better off just clicking Volt Switch anyway. You're basically sacrificing the consistency of Hydro Vortex and the utility of either Thunderbolt or Will-O-Wisp for this off chance. This is less about removing a Rotom-W check than it is a team dependent thing to support a teammate, so OO is more appropriate. Same deal with Buginium Z, generally not worth it outside of certain teammates.
Usage Tips:
  • Just relate the whole thing to momentum more, but overall seems fine.
Other Options:
  • Add in the Buginium Z and Psychium Z from earlier. Make sure to explain how it's a lot more of a team dependent choice because of what it does, and the drawbacks of sacrificing consistency and utility.
Checks and Counters:
  • A little iffy on the Knock Off thing as well tbh, but if I had to rephrase it, I'd just say that "Rotom-W doesn't have access to reliable recovery, so if it's carrying Leftovers, it does not appreciate getting hit by Knock Off from Pokemon like Krookodile and Alolan Muk, which would greatly diminish its longevity."

In light of the recent ban, remove the mega garde mention in team options for the bulky set.

is wisp really that necessary? you're not burning that much that wouldn't be more crippled by the other status moves or something that you're pivoting out of anyway. personally i'd make it toxic and move wisp to a mention. for offensive do twave or hp fire instead, wisp is even worse there.

Overview

* Give some examples of Ground-types that you say Rotom's Water-typing lets it pressure.
* Your last sentence seems a little out of place in the overview, since it talks about some of the perks that come with using Washtom right after mentioning its biggest downsides. Put the sentence in front of where you talk about its weakness to Grass/Dragon-types.

Set: Bulky Pivot

Moves

* Add Mega Abomasnow as a Will-O-Wisp target.

Team Options

* Mention setup sweepers here (be sure to give relevant examples) and say that they are appreciative of Rotom's ability to chip foes with Volt Switch and status.
* Entry hazard setters are also important to mention here, since hazards allow Rotom to further chip foes through pivoting while punishing switches. I'd specifically mention Klefki here, since it appreciates Rotom's ability to come in on Fire- and Ground-type attacks for it while checking Grass- and Dragon-types for it in return.
* Strong physical attackers like Mega Aerodactyl and Terrakion would be nice to mention here as well, since they're capable of powering through special walls like Blissey and Alolan Muk.

Set: Offensive Pivot

Moves

* 'lets Rotom-W to OHKO or 2HKO Pokemon that it normally could not, such as Scizor, Swampert, and Cobalion' - be sure to specifically state which Pokemon are OHKOed and 2HKOed here.

Checks and Counters

* Just to flesh out the Grass-type section a bit, say that Amoonguss is immune to Toxic, Celebi can evade status with Natural Cure, and Mega Sceptile is immune to its Electric-type attacks while 4x resisting its Water STAB.
* Say that all examples in the Dragon-type section dislike chip damage taken from Toxic or WoW.
* Say that Krookodile can't reliably switch in in your Knock Off section.

Great work! QC 3/3

**Seismitoad and Gastrodon**: Seismitoad and Gastrodon are immune to both of Rotom-W's STAB attacks, so they completely counter Rotom-W lacking Toxic or Hidden Power Grass.

**Grass-types**: Rotom-W is weak to Grass-type attacks, and it cannot do much to Pokemon like Amoonguss, Celebi, or Mega Sceptile with its STAB attacks. Amoonguss is also immune to Toxic, Celebi can evade status with Natural Cure, and Mega Sceptile is immune to Rotom-W's Electric-type attacks while 4x resisting its Water-type STAB moves.

**Dragon-types**: Rotom-W struggles to deal significant damage to Dragon-types which that resist its STAB attacks like Latias, Hydreigon, Haxorus, and Mega Alataria Altaria. All of these Dragon-types except for Facade Mega Altaria are very vulnerable to Will-O-Wisp or Toxic, however.

**Residual Damage**: Chip damage from sources such as Toxic, Stealth Rocks, or a weak U-turns can quickly wear down Rotom-W's health and can make it difficult for Rotom-W to check the threats it wishes to check.

**Knock Off**: Rotom-W doesn't have access to reliable recovery, so if it's carrying Leftovers, it does not appreciate getting hit by Knock Off from Pokemon like Krookodile and Alolan Muk, which would greatly diminish its longevity. However, Krookdile Krookodile cannot reliably switch in to Rotom-W thanks due to the threat of a Hydro Pump.

[OVERVIEW]

Rotom-W is one of the tier's best pivots and one of the primary staples of VoltTurn offense. Its Speed tier gives it good flexibility for investment to outspeed (clarifies) outspeeding various slow offensive Pokemon such as Primarina and Scizor, while also allowing it to outspeed Pokemon such as Nidoking and Timid Suicune when Rotom-W's Speed is maximized. The set of resistances its typing gives, along with its ability in Levitate, allows Rotom-W to check several prevalent threats in the UU metagame such as Scizor, Mega Pidgeot, Gliscor, and Mega Aerodactyl. Its Electric (space) / (space) Water typing is also good offensively, allowing Rotom-W to pressure Ground-(AH)types like Hippowdon, Mega Steelix, and Gliscor, (AC) which would normally block its Volt Switch, (AC) with fear of a super effective Hydro Pump. Rotom-W's access to Will-O-Wisp, Thunder Wave, and Toxic give it a wide array of options with which to hinder opponents by crippling their Attack stat, undermining their Speed, or harming their ability to stay healthy for long defensively. Its typing unfortunately leaves it mostly useless versus Grass- and Dragon-type Pokemon such as Latias, Mega Altaria, Celebi, and Amoonguss, however. Rotom-W has good defenses, but they are somewhat undermined by its poor HP stat, and its lack of reliable recovery also makes keeping Rotom-W healthy throughout a match somewhat difficult.

Volt Switch allows for Rotom-W to generate momentum for the team while doing moderate damage to opponents foes, and it also allows Rotom-W to pressure Water-types like Mantine and Starmie. Hydro Pump is Rotom-W's Water-type STAB attack, and it allows for Rotom-W to pressure Ground-types like Hippowdon, Mamoswine, and Gliscor, (AC) which would otherwise prevent it from using Volt Switch. Toxic lets Rotom-W hinder switch-ins like Latias, Seismitoad, and Gastrodon with chip damage, and Rotom-W can alternatively use Will-O-Wisp to cripple physical attackers like Scizor, Cobalion, Mega Abomasnow, and Alolan Muk and also to get minor chip damage off on other switch-ins to Rotom-W like Mega Sceptile. Pain Split gives Rotom-W a form of recovery, but because it is based on the opponent's foe's HP stat, it is not very reliable and is easily exploitable. Thunder Wave is another option for Rotom-W which that lets it cripple faster attackers like Hydreigon and Mega Beedrill.

132 Speed EVs allows for Rotom-W to outspeed all Pokemon up to and including Timid Primarina, while 252 HP EVs and 124 Defense EVs with a Bold nature gives Rotom-W an impressive amount of physical bulk. An alternative spread of 252 HP / 168 Def / 88 Spe with a Bold nature can be used in order to give Rotom-W some extra bulk while still outspeeding maximum Speed Adamant Scizor and Jolly Crawdaunt. Leftovers gives Rotom-W a form of passive recovery over time.

Usage Tips
========

The combination of Volt Switch and Hydro Pump to threaten Ground-types makes Rotom-W great when used to generate momentum for your team. Bring Rotom-W in on predicted resisted moves such as Scizor's Bullet Punch or and Mega Pidgeot's attacks or on free switches from other team members' U-turn or Volt Switch. However, Rotom-W is not as bulky as it seems at first glance, and its unreliable recovery leaves it prone to being worn down very quickly by unresisted attacks like a Choice Band Scizor's U-turn or Mega Aerodactyl's Stone Edge, so think carefully when switching Rotom-W directly into attacks. Use your status move of choice as a generally safe middle-ground play for when you are unsure whether your opponent will stay in or switch to a Ground-type.

Team Options

Rotom-W is one of the primary components of the VoltTurn playstyle, however but it also functions on bulky offense teams in general. As a byproduct of this, other users of U-turn and Volt Switch like Scizor, Mega Beedrill, Mega Manectric, Hydreigon, and Infernape make excellent partners for Rotom-W, as they can maintain the momentum that Rotom-W provides, (AC) and they can provide more opportunities for Rotom-W to switch in. Rotom-W pairs well with Pursuit trappers such as Mega Absol, Krookodile, and Alolan Muk, as Rotom-W can bait in Pokemon like Latias and Celebi then Volt Switch switch out with Volt Switch into the Pursuit user to trap them. Setup sweepers like Scizor, Cobalion, Gliscor, and Mega Altaria enjoy the overall residual damage that Rotom-W inflicts on the opposing team with its status options and Volt Switch, as it gives them an easier time in attempting to sweep. Hazard removal from Pokemon like Latias, Scizor, Starmie, or and Tentacruel is appreciated by Rotom-W, because the chip damage Stealth Rock provides can easily wear it down Rotom-W with repeated switching, and entry hazard support from Pokemon like Klefki, Tentacruel, and Nidoking will assist in Rotom-W's attempts to wear down the opposing team. Klefki also has good overall synergy with Rotom-W due to its ability to check opposing Grass- and Dragon-types for Rotom-W, and Rotom-W's ability to (makes it an independant clause) checks Fire- and Ground-types for Klefki.

Moves

Volt Switch allows for Rotom-W to generate momentum for the team while dealing good damage to opponents foes. Hydro Pump is Rotom-W's Water-type STAB move and strongest regular attack, and it allows for Rotom-W to pressure Ground-types like Hippowdon, Mamoswine, and Gliscor, (AC) which would otherwise prevent it from using Volt Switch. The 185-Base Power Hydro Vortex that Waterium Z provides lets Rotom-W to OHKO Pokemon that it normally could not like Scizor and Cobalion, (RC) and 2HKO Pokemon like Swampert, (RC) (AP). (this starts a different idea, so changing sentence makes it not seem like an extension to the list of kos) and It also allows for Rotom-W to have a one-time perfectly accurate Water-type STAB attack. Thunderbolt is Rotom-W's stronger Electric-type STAB move, and it allows Rotom-W to 2HKO Empoleon and other threats which that resist Water-type attacks without causing Rotom-W to switch out in the process. Thunderbolt is also Rotom-W's most reliable STAB move, as it doesn't have not having the chance to miss that Hydro Pump does. Rotom-W uses Thunder Wave to paralyze faster threats such as Latias, Hydreigon, and Haxorus. Hidden Power Fire can be used to give Rotom-W a secure way to 2HKO bulky Scizor, OHKO offensive Scizor, and deal super effective damage to Grass-types.

Set Details
========

252 Speed EVs with a Timid nature let Rotom-W outspeed Nidoking, Suicune, and base 80s like Mamoswine and Chandelure, and 252 EVs in Special Attack give it as much offensive presence as possible. Waterium Z allows Rotom-W to use Hydro Vortex. It also reduces the damage Rotom-W takes from Knock Off, which assists its matchup against dark types Dark-types such as Krookodile. If another member of the team is already using a Z-Move, Rotom-W can opt to use Leftovers in order to give it a form of passive recovery.

Usage Tips
========

If not actively attempting to KO Pokemon, Rotom-W should be using Volt Switch to gain momentum for the opposing your team (its not helping the opponent), as this is its primary job. Bring Rotom-W in primarily on free switches from other U-turn or Volt Switch users to prevent it from taking chip damage, but it can also be brought in on Pokemon that cannot hurt damage it much, such as Choice Scarf Krookodile or Gliscor lacking Facade. It can also save its Z-Move for when it would be important for bypassing to bypass an accuracy check from Hydro Pump, such as versus Gliscor or Hippowdon.

Team Options
========

Bulky offense or hyper offense teams both appreciate having Rotom-W, and it fits especially well on VoltTurn teams lacking Mega Manectric. To elabroate on this, (fluff) Rotom-W heavily appreciates other Volt Switch and U-turn users like Scizor, Mega Beedrill, Infernape, and Hydreigon, as they give it more opportunities to switch in and deal damage to the opponent foe. Pursuit users like Mega Absol, Krookodile, and Alolan Muk appreciate the free switches Rotom-W provides in order to more easily trap Pokemon like Latias and Celebi more easily. Rotom-W enjoys entry hazard support from Pokemon like Klefki, Cobalion, and Tentacruel, as they assist in Rotom-W's ability to get KOs versus opposing Pokemon, and it Rotom-W also likes hazard removal support from Pokemon like Starmie, Scizor, Mega Blastoise, or and Latias helps to prevent Rotom-W it from getting chipped down from chip damage due to repeatedly switching in(remove space)to Stealth Rocks.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Rotom-W can use Choice items like Choice Specs or and Choice Scarf with Trick, but these are usually inferior to what the pivot sets have to offer outside of the ability to permanently hinder defensive switch-(AH)ins with Trick. If the team struggles heavily with Seismitoad and Gastrodon, Rotom-W can consider using Hidden Power Grass, however but it struggles to fit this on its moveset without removing something important like Pain Split or Will-O-Wisp. Offensive Rotom-W can also viably use other Z-Crystals such as Psychium Z in tandem with Dream Eater in order to lure KO Amoonguss (the lure is the pokemon, not the move that koes) or and Buginium Z with Signal Beam to lure KO Latias, Hydreigon, and Mega Sceptile, but these are largely team dependent dependant due to their inconsistency if the opponent lacks one of these Pokemon. This also makes Rotom-W give up the power and utility provided by Waterium Z, (AC) and it forces Rotom-W to not run one of either Thunderbolt or its other fourth move options, which cuts down on its overall reliability.

Checks and Counters
===================

Moves
========

Hidden Power Fire can be used is an option to give Rotom-W a secure way to 2HKO bulky Scizor, OHKO offensive Scizor, and deal super effective damage to Grass-types.

Set Details
========

252 Speed EVs with a Timid nature let Rotom-W outspeed Nidoking, Suicune, and base 80s like Mamoswine and Chandelure, and 252 EVs in Special Attack give it as much offensive presence as possible. This is supplemented by Waterium Z, (ac) which allows Rotom-W to use Hydro Vortex, (rc) which gives it much-needed offensive presence (repetition). It also reduces the damage Rotom-W takes from Knock Off, which assists in its matchup against Dark-types such as Krookodile. If another member of the team is already using a Z-Move, Rotom-W can opt to use Leftovers in order to give it a form of passive recovery.

Usage Tips
========

========

Rotom-W also likes hazard removal support from Pokemon like Starmie, Scizor, Mega Blastoise, and Latias to prevent it from taking chip damage due to repeatedly switching into Stealth Rock.

Other Options
=============

===================

Amoonguss is also immune to Toxic, Celebi can evade shrug off (more appropriate since it still does get statused) status with Natural Cure, and Mega Sceptile is immune to Rotom-W's Electric-type attacks while being 4x resistant to its Water-type STAB moves.

**Dragon-types**: Rotom-W struggles to deal significant damage to Dragon-types that resist its STAB attacks like Latias, Hydreigon, Haxorus, and Mega Altaria, (ac) which resist its STAB attacks. All of these Dragon-types except for Facade Mega Altaria are very vulnerable to Will-O-Wisp or Toxic, however.

**Residual Damage**: Chip damage from sources such as Toxic, Stealth Rock, and weak U-turns can quickly wear down Rotom-W and can make it difficult for Rotom-W to check the threats it wishes to check.
