Remember when this was legal? [BH]
The sixth generation of Pokemon changed BH forever. BH has always been a metagame with less determining factors (only base stats and typing are relevant) than any other metagame. It makes it easier to determine which pokemon is the top dog at certain roles. Mega Rayquaza is the reigning Aerilate Champion. Primal Kyogre was the best Poison heal for a while, before it was banned. But BH has changed. At start of the sixth generation BH was an entirely different landscape. And that's the landscape we're here to explore.

RWTWL is a tournament that clears the ban list for the current generation. This means that everything banned or any clauses introduced into XY-ORAS BH will be unbanned or removed. Interesting, right?

Now let us dive into the unbans!

Primal Groudon
Though you can still use him with Red orb, that doesn't come close to the reign of terror Primal Groudon brought to BH. The combination of Choice Band and Adaptability/Tinted Lens brought the metagame to its knees. Never mind the fact that it barely scratched the surface of what Primal Groudon could accomplish. One of the best typings in the game with an amazing base stat-line made incredible diverse. Choice banded, Choice Scarf, Assist, Poison Heal, Magic Bounce, Desolate Land, Tinted Lens and literally three dozen other sets defined it.

PRIMAL KYOGRE

You can still use this with Blue orb, but where it's true power came from was Poison heal & Toxic Orb. This thing made matches last hundreds of turns It's Quiver Dance set swept prepared teams simply by overpowering it with Scald burns and the like. And although Kyogre still does this today, Primal Kyogre was just... Better at it. It also ran some effective Fur coat and Regenerator sets.

ASSIST

Assist was really just banned because of Thousand Arrows, a move that has zero immunities meaning that you can couple it with Primal Groudon giving you a very strong move, from base 180 Attack, with zero immunities and priority. The fact that ground types has so few resistances lead to a really icky situation where people were running stuff like Primordial Sea Tangrowth. Try it out!

CHATTER

Chatter is a move that was entirely banned because of the 100% chance to confuse. Mega Rayquaza was something that was particularly deadly with it. It ran a nasty set with Chatter, Oblivion wing/Magma Storm, Substitute and Tail Glow which had the possibly to break almost anything coupled with Gale Wings. Almost nothing was safe if luck was on your side.

PARENTAL BOND
Probably the best offensive ability in the entire game. In terms of power it plays second to Huge/Pure power, but when it comes to utility nothing does more than Parental Bond. Parental bond can be used in conjunction with moves like Seismic toss, which guarantee 200 damage or Super fang which does 75% of your opponent if they're at 100%. In short, Parental bond might not win in the damage department but the utility it brought as an offensive ability is nothing short of amazing...

Protean
Although this is more or less outclassed by Parental Bond it still served as one of the best offensive abilities at the time. Essentially it made MMX and MMY immensely powerful because they could rid themselves of their shit typings and use a large variety of coverage moves.

Moody

Moody is basically just a numbers game. Stored power was often ran in conjunction with Moody because you quickly grabbed boosts then swept. Mega Mewtwo Y was a common abuser with Substitute, King's Shield, Stored Power and the final move depended on what you needed, either Taunt, Coverage, Spore or Baton pass.

-Ate and Ability clause

Were both implemented into BH to hinder the spam of five abilities, mainly. Poison Heal, Regenerator, Aerilate, Pixilate and Refrigerate. Of course, it is now removed so you're free to spam them as much as you please!
