Nidoqueen @ Life OrbAbility: Sheer Force

- Sludge Wave / Thunderbolt
As mentioned previously, Nidoqueen is an excellent Stealth Rock setter as its impressive power on top of its remarkable coverage options allows it to restrict hazard removal from common users such as Mantine and Gligar with coverage moves such as Thunderbolt and Ice Beam respectably. Nidoqueen's STAB moves can also be spammed, dealing incredible amounts of damage to most neutral targets thanks to the power boost from Sheer Force and Life Orb. This set is incredibly difficult to deal with since it allows Nidoqueen to hit a majority of threats in the RU metagame for heaping amounts of damage, making it incredibly difficult to find proper switchins.
Nidoqueen @ Black Sludge
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Stealth Rock / Toxic Spikes
- Earth Power
- Poison Jab / Flamethrower
- Ice Beam
Nidoqueen can also go for a more defensive approach, thanks to its admirable bulk and defensive typing allowing it to check common threats such as Herracross and Doublade. However, Nidoqueen still holds impressive damage output thanks to its ability alongside its colorful coverage options. Poison Jab is used to better check certain setup sweepers such as Calm Mind Comfey and Florges, while Flamethrower can be used instead to target certain Steel-types such as Bronzong. Finally, Toxic Spikes is an alternative option geared towards more defensive teams, since it allows Nidoqueen to whittle down incoming switchins more consistently. Although Nidoqueen trades power for bulk, this set still allows it to act as a great defensive pivot that can still harass opposing walls quite well.
While only possessing few, Nidoqueen does share its set of flaws. Nidoqueen holds weaknesses to common offensive types such as Ground, Psychic, and Water, meaning that it can often fail to check certain offensive threats such as Reuniclus, Feraligatr, and Flygon. This issue is also perpetuated by Nidoqueen's disappointing Speed stat as well, since it can often allow offensive sets to be revenge killed by the aforementioned threats quite easily.
Nonetheless, Nidoqueen holds the title of one of the best, if not the best, Pokemon in the RU metagame, and is definitely is a threat that should be always accounted for. Go see for yourselves!
