[Monotype/Water] Rotom-W

[OVERVIEW]

Water
========

Rotom-W's great defensive typing allows it to take neutral damage from Electric-type moves and only super effective damage from Grass-type attacks. It also has access to a very useful ability in Levitate, something Water teams appreciate, as they tend to have a lack of Pokemon immune to Ground-type moves. Great utility moves such as Will-O-Wisp, Pain Split, and a slow Volt Switch make Rotom-W a fantastic defensive pivot. This enables it to make full use of its great defensive stats and prove itself to be a valuable member on Water teams. Furthermore, its offensive stats aren't too shabby either; decent Speed and Special Attack along with its access to Trick make it a good Choice Scarf user. On the downside, Rotom-W suffers from a dreadful HP stat and a lack of reliable recovery. Status also wears down Rotom-W quickly. It also faces competition from Lanturn, which is immune to Electric-type moves and has access to great utility moves.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Volt Switch is Rotom-W's main STAB move, allowing it to gain momentum for the team and pivot into an appropriate check. Will-O-Wisp allows Rotom-W to inflict burn on the foe and hinder physical attackers, such as Mega Medicham, that may threaten it or the team. Hydro Pump is a strong secondary STAB move that also hits Ground-types that may try to switch in on a Volt Switch, such as Mold Breaker Excadrill. Pain Split can be used when Rotom-W is worn down to regain some HP, but it tends to be very inconsistent due to being dependent on the foe's HP.

Set Details
========

248 HP EVs, maximum Defense EVs, and a Bold nature let Rotom-W take physical hits as best as it can while taking less passive damage from Stealth Rock and status. Leftovers is Rotom-W's best recovery option throughout the match, as it lacks a reliable way to regain its health besides Pain Split, which is situational. 8 Speed EVs let Rotom-W outspeed and OHKO Adamant Crawdaunt, which may otherwise threaten it. Levitate makes Rotom-W a good switch-in to Ground-type moves, something most Water teams lack.

Usage Tips
========

Rotom-W can be used early-game to scout and gain momentum with Volt Switch. It can spam Will-O-Wisp, as almost nothing likes to switch in besides Guts users, such as Heracross and Conkeldurr, or Fire-types, such as Mega Charizard Y. However, Rotom-W should be protected from status, as that wears it down very easily. It should avoid Knock Off, as Leftovers is its main method of recovery because of how unreliable Pain Split is. Rotom-W needs to watch out for Mold Breaker users and their variants, such as Kyurem-B and Excadrill, which can negate Levitate and hit it with strong Ground-type coverage in the form of Earth Power and Earthquake, respectively. Rotom-W should be switched in on Pokemon that it can pivot on, such as Volcanion and Garchomp. Even though it has decent Special Defense, this set does not appreciate getting worn down by special attacks. Thus, it is generally wise to switch out against strong special attackers. Due to its lack of recovery, Rotom-W is an unreliable check to wallbreakers and should almost never switch directly into them, as the likes of Hoopa-U and Mega Medicham can easily break it with two attacks. Pain Split is best used against walls with a large amount of HP; in fact, using it on a full HP Chansey can actually restore Rotom-W to maximum health. Rotom-W does not appreciate Stealth Rock damage, as it usually switches in and out quite often. If it loses too much health, it fails to wall most of the Pokemon that it is supposed to. Thus, keeping Stealth Rock away is a wise idea.

Team Options
========

Empoleon is a great partner, as it is able to take Grass-type moves and most special attacks with ease. It benefits from Rotom-W's immunity to Ground-type moves that threaten it. Rotom-W's physical bulk helps Empoleon, as Empoleon does not like staying in on most physical hits. As Rotom-W forces a lot of switches, Stealth Rock on the opposing side of the field is very helpful. Likewise, Rotom-W feels the need to switch in and out quite a lot, and Empoleon and Tentacruel's ability to get rid of Stealth Rock is highly appreciated. Tentacruel also has a great Special Defense stat to sponge special hits that threaten Rotom-W, Toxic Spikes, which is extremely useful to take full advantage of the switches Rotom-W forces, and a neutrality to Grass-type moves. On the other hand, Rotom-W takes most Ground- and Electric-type hits with ease. Setup sweepers, such as Mega Gyarados and Manaphy, appreciate the slow Volt Switch and Will-O-Wisp Rotom-W provides, the latter of which hinders physical attackers, making it easier to set up on them. Volt Switch makes Rotom-W a premier pivot and scout, something that wallbreakers such as Keldeo, Azumarill, Mega Sharpedo, Crawdaunt, and Volcanion appreciate. Volcanion also benefits from Rotom-W's immunity to Ground-type moves, while it can take out Grass-type Pokemon that threaten Rotom-W. Swampert and Lanturn are great for their Electric immunity, as Rotom-W's lack of special bulk makes it incapable of switching into common special Electric-type attacks. Slowbro is another great partner, as it is able to take on Mega Medicham, which is one of the few Pokemon that can threaten Rotom-W.

[SET]
name: Choice Scarf
move 1: Volt Switch
move 2: Hydro Pump
move 3: Trick
move 4: Thunderbolt
item: Choice Scarf
ability: Levitate
nature: Timid
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Volt Switch helps Rotom-W fulfill its role as a pivot by being able to inflict damage, switch out to an appropriate counter, and scout what move the opponent goes for. Hydro Pump is a stronger STAB move that deals with Ground-types that might switch in, such as Landorus and Excadrill. It deals the most damage out of any of Rotom-W's moves and is most suitable for cleaning up late-game, although its poor accuracy is something to watch out for. Trick allows Rotom-W to deter walls that may switch in, such as Chansey and Gastrodon, as Choice Scarf severely limits their utility. Finally, Thunderbolt gives Rotom-W a stronger, reliable Electric-type attack that doesn't force it to switch out, unlike Volt Switch.

Set Details
========

Maximum Speed and Special Attack EVs are a must, permitting Rotom-W to make full use of its offensive capabilities. A Timid nature allows Rotom-W to outspeed certain base 80 Speed Choice Scarf Pokemon, such as Hoopa-U, Gardevoir, and Togekiss. Levitate makes Rotom-W capable of switching into Ground-type attacks, allowing it to pivot offensively into Ground-types.

Usage Tips
========

Rotom-W should be used early-game to scout the foes' sets with Volt Switch. Hydro Pump or Thunderbolt should not be spammed early-game while Rotom-W's counters are still present, as it can result in a huge loss of momentum. Alternatively, when its check and counters are weakened, Rotom-W can clean up the opponent's team late-game. One of the cons of using a Choice item is becoming setup bait for Pokemon that do not take much damage from its Choice-locked STAB moves. Thus, it is wiser to use Volt Switch in most scenarios. Trick should usually only be used when you are sure that the opponent is going to switch out to the wall that you plan on hindering, as giving a Choice Scarf to the foe isn't always beneficial. Rotom-W should serve as a fast pivot or as a revenge killer, as it lacks power. Because this set lacks defensive investment, it has a harder time switching into attacks. Try to take advantage of Rotom-W's Ground immunity to safely bring it in.

Team Options
========

Empoleon is a great teammate for Rotom-W because it takes the Grass-type hits aimed at Rotom-W rather easily. Likewise, Empoleon benefits from Rotom-W's ability to switch into Ground-type attacks. Being able to scout the foes' sets proves to be beneficial to setup sweepers such as Manaphy and Mega Gyarados. It can also weaken the opponent's team to let the aforementioned Pokemon have an easier time sweeping. Rotom-W appreciates the support that wallbreakers such as Keldeo, Azumarill, and Volcanion provide, as punching holes in the opponent's team can permit a late-game sweep. Azumarill breaks through Dragon-types very easily, most of which Rotom-W cannot touch. Volcanion's ability to take down Grass-types is equally appreciated. Choice Scarf Rotom-W makes a great addition to Swift Swim teams as a fast pivot because Swift Swim users, such as Mega Swampert, Seismitoad, and Kingdra, benefit from Rotom-W's ability to scout the opposing team. Politoed is mandatory, as Swift Swim teams need it for its ability, Drizzle. Mega Sharpedo appreciates the support provided by Choice Scarf Rotom-W in scouting and weakening the opposing team to make it easier for Mega Sharpedo to clean up late-game. Rotom-W needs to switch in and out continuously while performing its role as a scout. Thus, it benefits from Starmie's ability to get rid of entry hazards.

Other Options
=============

Water
--------
Rest along with Chesto Berry can be used on the physically defensive set, as Pain Split is very unreliable. However, Chesto Berry can only be used once, so Rest will leave Rotom-W unable to move for at least two turns if used after Chesto Berry is consumed. Thunder Wave is another suboptimal option instead of Pain Split and allows Rotom-W to deter fast threats that aren't hindered by Will-O-Wisp, such as Mega Charizard Y, Latios, Gengar, and Hydreigon. Another set that may be used on Rotom-W is a dual screens set with Light Clay. Water-type teams, however, prefer the physically defensive or Choice Scarf set.

Checks and Counters
===================

Water
--------
**Grass-types**: Resisting both of Rotom-W's STAB moves and hitting it super effectively, Grass-types, such as Mega Venusaur, Serperior, and Breloom, are ideal counters for Rotom-W. Ferrothorn sets up entry hazards on Rotom-W, although it does somewhat mind Will-O-Wisp.

**Dragon-types**: Dragon-types, particularly those that do not fear Will-O-Wisp, such as Latios, Latias, and Hydreigon, do a great job at beating Rotom-W, taking little damage from its STAB moves. However, most of them fear the rare Thunder Wave.

**Specially Defensive Walls**: Specially defensive walls, such as Chansey and Gastrodon, are excellent at wearing down Rotom-W with Toxic while being able to heal off any damage taken. However, they need to watch out for the Choice Scarf set, as it gets access to Trick, completely crippling them.

**Wallbreakers**: Most wallbreakers, such as Mega Charizard Y, Choice Specs Hoopa-U, and Mega Medicham, find it easy to break through Rotom-W after Stealth Rock damage.

Set 1:

Usage Tips:
- Mention how Rotom-W needs to be wary of Mold Breaker users such as Kyurem-B and Excadrill as they negate Levitate and can hit Rotom-W with a super-effective Ground-type move.

Team Options:
- Mention how Lanturn appreciates Rotom-W's ability to take Ground-type moves, while Lanturn can support Rotom-W with Heal Bell support.
- Mention that Crawdaunt in wallbreakers that appreciate a slow Volt Switch from Rotom-W.
- Rotom-W appreciates the fact that Volcanion can clear out Grass-type Pokemon, which otherwise would be a problem for Rotom-W.

Set 2:

Set Details:
- Heracross isn't the best example for a base 80 Speed Pokemon, as they are mostly Choice Scarfed in Monotype. Hoopa-U would be a better example.

Other Options:
- Rotom-W can run Light Screen and Reflect with a Light Clay, although Water-type teams prefer a defensive or Choice Scarf set.

Checks and Counters:
- Give examples for Grass-type Pokemon that counter Rotom-W. Examples would be Mega Venusaur, Serperior, and Breloom.

Just a few nitpicks here and there. Nicely done! QC 1/3

Overview:
- Add that it faces defensive competition from Lanturn, which is actually immune to Electric-type attacks and has good utility as well.

Defensive:
Set Details:
- Include that Levitate makes Rotom-W perhaps the only good defensive Ground switch-in.

Usage Tips:
- Pivot Rotom-W into physical or mixed attackers that it checks, such as Landorus-T and Tornadus-T.
- While its Special Defense isn't poor, Rotom-W is too easily worn down by special attacks, so it should generally switch out against special attackers.
- Due to its lack of recovery, Rotom-W is an unreliable check to wallbreakers and should almost never switch directly into them, as the likes of Hoopa-U and Mega Medicham can easily break it in two attacks.
- Rotom-W should primarily use Pain Split against opposing walls, as their higher HP stat will net greater recovery. For example, in the case of Chansey, a full health Chansey can actually restore Rotom-W to full health.
- Because Rotom-W will need to switch in and out often and lacks recovery, try to make sure it's not switching into Stealth Rock too often, as the damage will add up quickly and make it difficult for Rotom-W to wall its targets.

Team Options:
- Add that Empoleon can Defog and set up Stealth Rock. Entry hazard control is very important with Rotom-W, as it needs to switch in often and forces many switches.
- Tentacruel is an amazing teammate for many of the same reasons. It can use Rapid Spin to remove entry hazards, set up the incredibly useful Toxic Spikes, tank special attacks, and beat Grass-types. It also appreciates Rotom-W's ability to switch into some Electric- and Ground-type attacks.
- Swampert and Lanturn are great for their Electric immunity. Rotom-W's lack of Special Defense EV investment makes it incapable of switching into the commonly special Electric-type attacks.
- Lanturn also forms a very nice Volt Switch core with Rotom-W because Lanturn takes special attacks pretty easily, while Rotom-W takes the physical attacks.

Choice Scarf:
Set Details:
- Again, mention Levitate, which allows Rotom-W to pivot offensively into Ground-types.
- Also, Heracross was a bad example because it's not a base 80 Speed Pokemon. Rotom-W still outspeeds it though, so it's up to you if you want to keep it here anyway.

Usage Tips:
- Rotom-W should serve as a fast pivot or as a revenge killer, as it lacks power.
- Because this set lacks defensive investment, it has a harder time switching into attacks. Try to take advantage of its Ground immunity to safely bring it in.

Team Options:
- Make sure you aren't copy and pasting information from the first set. There should be no reason that a defensive Rotom-W needs the same support that a Choice Scarf Rotom-W does. They do completely different things.
- Not all wallbreakers do the same things. You should make it clear why some are especially useful. For example:
- Rotom-W is completely walled by Dragon-types, which Azumarill can easily check with its Fairy typing.
- Similarly, Rotom-W can't touch Grass-types, which Volcanion can check.
- Those two are especially notable and shouldn't be in the middle of more questionable teammates (Mega Sharpedo isn't a wallbreaker. It's a cleaner)

Other Options:
- Discharge is outclassed by Thunder Wave. I wouldn't mention it.

Checks and Counters:
- Most wallbreakers easily just walk through Rotom-W. Mega Medicham always OHKOes with High Jump Kick after Stealth Rock damage and Choice Specs Hoopa-U isn't threatened by Rotom-W at all. Mega Charizard Y can also always OHKO after Stealth Rock damage.

Looks good, QC 2/3

Overview
  • Mention how Rotom-W has only 1 weakness in grass
  • Mention how Rotom-W has decent Speed of 86 making it a decent choice scarfer
Moves Pivot
  • provide an example of a ground type that Hydro Pump hits
  • Mention some physical attackers that Rotom-W cripples with Wil-O-Wisp
Set Details
  • Mention how Volt Switch has a good chance to OHKO Crawdaunt as to show why speed creep is useful
Usage Tips
  • Provide examples of Guts Users and Fire types
  • What ground coverage do Kyurem-B and Excadrill use on Rotom-W?
  • Tornadus-T and Landorus-T seem kind of controversial as it sort of contradicts first point in saying keep Rotom-W away from Knock Off since both of those Pokemon commonly carry Knock Off and commonly spam it
  • Mention how the damage racks up very fast
Team Options
  • I would take off Lanturn because Rotom-W and Lanturn are usually competing for same role
  • Mention Slowbro as it takes on Mega Medicham which is one few things that breaks Mega Medicham
Moves Choice Scarf
  • provide examples of ground types that Hydro Hits
  • Mention how Thunderbolt has higher base power than Volt Switch also
Set details
  • add Choice Scarf Garevoir to the list
Usage Tips
  • under Volt Switch and Thunderbolt should not be spammed when ground types are present and Hydro Pump when Grass and Water types are present and dragon types for both
Team Options
  • From what I have seen Choice Scarf Rotom-W is really only used on SS because it appreciates fast pivots
  • Mega Swampert should be added
  • Politoed should be added as it sets up rain
  • Kingdra should be added good ss member and likes fast volt switches
  • Seismitoad should be added same reason as above
  • Mega Sharpedo needs to be added
  • Add Starmie as it gets rid of hazards
  • Optional add Ludicolo and Kabutops
Checks and Counters
  • Mention how Dragon types fear Thunder Wave
  • Mention Ferrothorn as it sets up hazards on Rotom-W but somewhat minds burn
QC 3/3 I'll look at team options for Choice Scarf just so some sort of QC is done on it before G/P

Moves
========

Volt Switch is Rotom-W's main STAB move, that allows allowing it to gain momentum for the team and pivot into an appropriate check. Will-O-Wisp allows it Rotom-W to inflict burns on the foe,(RC) and hinder physical attackers,(AC) such as Mega Medicham,(AC) that may threaten it,(RC) or the team.(end sentence),(RC) such as Mega Medicham. (flows better) Hydro Pump is a stronger, secondary STAB move that has a higher damage output than Volt Switch. It also hits Ground-types that may try to switch in on a Volt Switch, such as Mold Breaker Excadrill. Pain Split can be used when Rotom-W is worn down to regain some HP, but it tends to be very inconsistent due to being dependent on the foe's HP.

Set Details
========

248 HP EVs, maximum Defense EVs, and a Bold nature let Rotom-W take physical hits as best as it can,(RC) while allowing it to take taking (more concise) less passive damage from Stealth Rock and status. Leftovers is its Rotom-W's best method to heal throughout the match, as Rotom-W it lacks a reliable way to regain its health besides Pain Split, which is situational. 8 Speed EVs let it Rotom-W outspeed and OHKO Adamant Crawdaunt, which may otherwise threaten it. Levitate makes Rotom-W a good switch-(add hyphen)in to Ground-type moves, something most Water teams lack.

Usage Tips
========

Rotom-W can be used early-game to scout and gain momentum with Volt Switch. It can spam Will-O-Wisp,(AC) as almost nothing likes to switch in,(RC) besides Guts users, such as Heracross and Conkeldurr, or Fire-types, such as Mega Charizard Y. However, it Rotom-W should be protected from status,(AC) as that wears it down very easily. It should not get Knocked Off (don't know if this is a correct term, but if it is just keep it. If not, then say "It should not switch into Knock Off..."),(AC) as Leftovers is its main method of recovery because of how unreliable Pain Split is. Rotom-W needs to watch out for users of Mold Breaker users,(RC) and its their variants, such as Kyurem-B and Excadrill, which can negate Levitate and (flows better) hit it with strong Ground-type coverage in the form of Earth Power and Earthquake, respectively,(RC) negating Levitate. Rotom-W should be switched in on Pokemon that it can pivot on, such as Volcanion and Garchomp. Even though it has decent Special Defense, this set does not appreciate getting worn down by special attacks. Thus, it is generally wise to switch out against strong special attackers. Due to its lack of recovery, Rotom-W is an unreliable check to wallbreakers and should almost never switch directly into them, as the likes of Hoopa-U and Mega Medicham can easily break it in two attacks. Pain Split is best used against walls with a large amount of HP;(add semicolon) in.(remove period) In fact, using it on a full HP Chansey can actually restore Rotom-W to maximum health. Stealth Rock damage is not appreciated by Rotom-W, as it usually switches in and out quite often. If it loses too much health, it fails to wall most of the Pokemon that it is supposed to do. Thus, keeping Stealth Rock away is a wise idea.

Team Options
========

Empoleon is a great partner, being able to take Grass-type moves,(RC) and most special attacks with ease. It benefits from Rotom-W's ability to take immunity to (Rotom-W doesn't "take" Ground-type moves since they do no damage to it) Ground-type moves that threaten it the former. Rotom-W's physical defense helps Empoleon, as Empoleon does not like staying in on most physical hits. As Rotom-W forces a lot of switches, Stealth Rock on the opposing side of the field are very helpful (it's unclear if you still talking about Empoleon here. If you are, you should say "Empoleon's Stealth Rock...". If you're not, you should mention these Pokemon that set up Stealth Rock). Likewise, Rotom-W feels the need to switch in and out quite a lot,(AC) and the ability to get rid of Stealth Rock with Defog is highly appreciated. Tentacruel is another amazing teammate for similar reasons as Empoleon. It has access to a great Special Defense stat to sponge special hits that threaten Rotom-W, Rapid Spin to get rid of Stealth Rock, Toxic Spikes which are extremely useful because of how Rotom-W forces the foe out switches (not every foe), and a neutrality to Grass-type moves (also Liquid Ooze to punish common Giga Drain and Leech Seed users). On the other hand, Rotom-W takes most Ground-,(RC) and Electric-type hits with ease. Set up Setup sweepers, such as Mega Gyarados,(RC) and Manaphy,(AC) appreciate the slow Volt Switch provided by Rotom-W provides (active voice), as well as Will-O-Wisp, being able to hinder which hinders physical attackers, making it easier to set up on them (flows better). Volt Switch makes Rotom-W a premier pivot,(RC) and a scout, something that wallbreakers such as Keldeo, Azumarill, Mega Sharpedo, Crawdaunt, and Volcanion appreciate. Volcanion also benefits from Rotom-W's immunity to Ground-type moves,(RC) while taking out Grass-type Pokemon that threaten it. Rotom-W's lack of Special Defense EV investment makes it incapable of switching into the commonly special Electric-type attacks. (The EVs don't matter as long as you mention the poor special bulk. Also, you can easily combine these two sentences) Slowbro is another great partner, being able to take on Mega Medicham, which is one of the few Pokemon that can threaten Rotom-W.(period)

Moves
========

Volt Switch fulfils its fulfills Rotom-W's role as a scout pivot by being able to inflict damage and switch out to an appropriate counter,(RC) and scout what move the opponent goes for. Hydro Pump is a stronger STAB move,(RC) that deals with Ground-types that might switch in, such as Landorus-I and Excadrill. It deals the most damage out of any of its moves and is most suitable for cleaning up late-game, although the accuracy is something to watch out for. Trick allows Rotom-W to deter walls that may switch in, such as Chansey and Gastrodon,(AC) as Choice Scarf severely limits their utility. Choice Scarf severely limits their utility. (unnecessary second sentence here) Finally, Thunderbolt gives Rotom-W a stronger, reliable Electric-type attack that doesn't force it to switch out, unlike Volt Switch.

Set Details
========

Maximum Speed and Special Attack EVs are a given must ("must" is the better word here. "Given" as a noun means "a known/established fact/situation", which, although fine to use here, doesn't provide as much emphasis as "must" does), permitting it to make full use of its offensive capabilities. A Timid nature allows Rotom-W to outspeed certain Choice Scarf Pokemon with a base 80 Speed stat, such as Hoopa-U, Gardevoir, or Togekiss,(RC) equipped with a Choice Scarf. Levitate makes it Rotom-W capable of switching into Ground-type attacks, allowing it to pivot offensively into Ground-types.

Usage Tips
========

Rotom-W should be used early-game to scout the foe's foes' (I'm sure Rotom-W is scouting for multiple Pokemon's sets) sets,(RC) with Volt Switch. Hydro Pump or Thunderbolt should not be spammed early-game,(RC) while its counters are still alive, as it can result in a huge loss of momentum. Alternatively, when its check and counters are weakened, Rotom-W can clean up the foe's opponent's (foe = Pokemon; opponent = trainer) team late-game. One of the cons of using a Choice-item is becoming set up setup bait for Pokemon that do not take much damage from its STAB moves. Thus, it is wiser to use Volt Switch in most scenarios. Trick should usually only be used when you are sure that the foe isn't opponent is (right? You use Trick when you predict that the opponent is bringing in a wall) going to switch out to the wall that you plan on hindering, as giving a Choice Scarf to the foe isn't always beneficial. Rotom-W should serve as a fast pivot or as a revenge killer, as it lacks power. Because this set lacks defensive investment, it has a harder time switching into attacks. Try to take advantage of its Ground immunity to safely bring it in.

Team Options

Empoleon is a great teammate for Rotom-W because it (felt like there should have been a "lead-up" here. Otherwise, the start of the sentence seemed too sudden) takes the Grass-type hits aimed at Rotom-W rather easily. Likewise, Empoleon benefits from Rotom-W Rotom-W's ability to take switch into (same reason as the other "team options" section) Ground-type attacks. Being able to scout the foe's foes' sets proves itself to be beneficial to set up setup sweepers such as Manaphy,(RC) and Mega Gyarados. It can also weaken the foe's opponent's team to let the aforementioned Pokemon have an easier time at sweeping. Rotom-W appreciates the support that wallbreakers,(RC) such as Keldeo, Azumarill, and Volcanion provide,(AC) as punching holes in the opponent's team can permit a late-game sweep. Punching holes in the foe's team can permit a late-game sweep by Rotom-W. (more concise) Azumarill breaks through Dragon-types very easily, most of which Rotom-W cannot touch. Volcanion's ability to take down Grass-types is equally appreciated. Choice Scarf Rotom-W makes a great addition to Swift Swim teams as a fast pivot because.(remove period) Swift Swim users, such as Mega Swampert, Seismitoad, and Kingdra, benefit from Rotom-W's ability to scout the opposing team (again, more concise). Rotom-W needs to switch in and out continuously while performing its role as a scout. Thus, it benefits from Starmie's ability to get rid of hazards.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Water**:

**Grass-types**: Resisting both of Rotom-W's STAB moves,(RC) and hitting it for Super Effective super effective damage make Grass-types, such as Mega Venusaur, Serperior, and Breloom, ideal counters for Rotom-W. Ferrothorn sets up hazards on Rotom-W, although it does somewhat mind Will-O-Wisp.

**Specially Defensive Walls**: Specially defensive walls, such as Chansey and Gastrodon, are excellent at wearing down Rotom-W with Toxic,(RC) while being able to heal off any damage taken dealt by it (This is kind of subjective, but the way this is worded, it sounds like "it" is referring to Toxic. This just clears up any confusion). However, they need to watch out for the Choice Scarf set,(AC) as it gets access to Trick, completely crippling most specially defensive walls them (the "they" earlier in the sentence refers to specially defensive walls anyway, which makes this part awkward).

**Wallbreakers**: Most wallbreakers, such as Mega Charizard Y, Choice Specs Hoopa-U, and Mega Medicham, find it easy to break through Rottom-W,(RC) Rotom-W after Stealth Rock damage.

When "as" is being used to mean "because", a comma needs to precede it.
You did overuse "it" to refer to Rotom-W, which, although grammatically correct, makes the analysis more passive.
You also had a lot of unnecessary commas. Remember, don't put a comma before an "and" if the sentence isn't joining two independent clauses (excluding lists). There were other times when there were just random commas that shouldn't have been there.
You also had random second sentences that could have been easily combined with the previous one.

**Water**:

Rotom-W's has a great defensive typing, allowing allows it to take neutral damage from Electric-type moves and only taking super effective damage from Grass-type attacks. Furthermore, its offensive stats aren't too shabby either; decent Speed and Special Attack along with its access to Trick makes make it a good Choice Scarf user. On the downside, Rotom-W suffers from a dreadful HP stat and a lack of reliable recovery. Status also wears down Rotom-W quickly, something it dislikes. It also faces competition from Lanturn, which is immune to Electric-type moves and has access to great utility moves.

Volt Switch is Rotom-W's main STAB move, allowing it to gain momentum for the team and pivot into an appropriate check. Will-O-Wisp allows Rotom-W to inflict burns on the foe and hinder physical attackers, such as Mega Medicham, that may threaten it or the team. Hydro Pump is a stronger, secondary STAB move that has a higher damage output than Volt Switch. It also (redundant with stronger) hits Ground-types that may try to switch in on a Volt Switch, such as Mold Breaker Excadrill. Pain Split can be used when Rotom-W is worn down to regain some HP, but it tends to be very inconsistent due to being dependent on the foe's HP.

Set Details

248 HP EVs, maximum Defense EVs, and a Bold nature let Rotom-W take physical hits as best as it can while taking less passive damage from Stealth Rock and status. Leftovers is Rotom-W's best method to heal throughout the match, as it lacks a reliable way to regain its health besides Pain Split, which is situational. 8 Speed EVs let Rotom-W outspeed and OHKO Adamant Crawdaunt, which may otherwise threaten it. Levitate makes Rotom-W a good switch-in to Ground-type moves, something most Water teams lack.

Usage Tips

Rotom-W can be used early-game to scout and gain momentum with Volt Switch. It can spam Will-O-Wisp, as almost nothing likes to switch in besides Guts users, such as Heracross and Conkeldurr, or Fire-types, such as Mega Charizard Y. However, Rotom-W should be protected from status, as that wears it down very easily. It should not get avoid Knocked Off, as Leftovers is its main method of recovery because of how unreliable Pain Split is. Due to its lack of recovery, Rotom-W is an unreliable check to wallbreakers and should almost never switch directly into them, as the likes of Hoopa-U and Mega Medicham can easily break it in two attacks. Pain Split is best used against walls with a large amount of HP; in fact, using it on a full HP Chansey can actually restore Rotom-W to maximum health. Rotom-W does not appreciate Stealth Rock damage is not appreciated by Rotom-W, as it usually switches in and out quite often. If it loses too much health, it fails to wall most of the Pokemon that it is supposed to. Thus, keeping Stealth Rock away is a wise idea.

Tentacruel is another amazing teammate for similar reasons as Empoleon. Volt Switch makes Rotom-W a premier pivot and scout, something that wallbreakers such as Keldeo, Azumarill, Mega Sharpedo, Crawdaunt, and Volcanion appreciate. Volcanion also benefits from Rotom-W's immunity to Ground-type moves while taking out Grass-type Pokemon that threaten it. Swampert and Lanturn are great for their Electric immunity, as Rotom-W's lack of special bulk makes it incapable of switching into common special Electric-type attacks. Volt Switch fulfills helps Rotom-W's fulfill its role as a pivot by being able to inflict damage and switch out to an appropriate counter and scout what move the opponent goes for. Hydro Pump is a stronger STAB move that deals with Ground-types that might switch in, such as Landorus-I and Excadrill. It deals the most damage out of any of its moves and is most suitable for cleaning up late-game, although the accuracy is something to watch out for.

Set Details

Maximum Speed and Special Attack EVs are a must, permitting it Rotom-W to make full use of its offensive capabilities. A Timid nature allows Rotom-W to outspeed certain Choice Scarf Pokemon with a base 80 Speed stat, such as Hoopa-U, Gardevoir, or and Togekiss. Levitate makes Rotom-W capable of switching into Ground-type attacks, allowing it to pivot offensively into Ground-types.

Usage Tips
========

Rotom-W should be used early-game to scout the foes' sets with Volt Switch. Hydro Pump or Thunderbolt should not be spammed early-game while its Rotom-W's counters are still alive, as it can result in a huge loss of momentum. Alternatively, when its check and counters are weakened, Rotom-W can clean up the opponent's team late-game. One of the cons of using a Choice item (RH) is becoming setup bait for Pokemon that do not take much damage from its STAB moves. Try to take advantage of its Rotom-W's Ground immunity to safely bring it in.

Team Options
========

Mega Sharpedo is another Pokemon that appreciates the support provided by Choice Scarf Rotom-W, scouting and weakening the opposing team to make it easier for Mega Sharpedo to clean up late-game. Rotom-W needs to switch in and out continuously while performing its role as a scout. Thus, it benefits from Starmie's ability to get rid of entry hazards.

Rest along with Chesto Berry can be used on the physically defensive set, as Pain Split is very unreliable. However, Chesto Berry can only be used once, so Rest will leave you Rotom-W unable to move for at least two turns if used after Chesto Berry is consumed. Thunder Wave is another suboptimal option instead of Pain Split and allows Rotom-W to deter fast threats that aren't hindered by Will-O-Wisp, such as Mega Charizard Y, Latios, Gengar, or and Hydreigon. Another set that may be used on Rotom-W is a dual screens set with Light Clay. Water-type teams, however, prefer the physically defensive or Choice Scarf set.

Checks and Counters

**Water**:

**Grass-types**: Resisting both of Rotom-W's STAB moves and hitting it for super effective damage make Grass-types, such as Mega Venusaur, Serperior, and Breloom, ideal counters for Rotom-W.

A Timid nature allows Rotom-W to outspeed certain base 80 Speed Choice Scarf Pokemon with a base 80 Speed stat, such as Hoopa-U, Gardevoir, and Togekiss. Levitate makes Rotom-W capable of switching into Ground-type attacks, allowing it to pivot offensively into Ground-types.

Usage Tips
========

Rotom-W should be used early-game to scout the foes' sets with Volt Switch. Hydro Pump or Thunderbolt should not be spammed early-game while Rotom-W's counters are still alive, as it can result in a huge loss of momentum. Alternatively, when its check and counters are weakened, Rotom-W can clean up the opponent's team late-game. One of the cons of using a Choice item (remove hyphen) is becoming setup bait for Pokemon that do not take much damage from its Choice-locked STAB moves.

========

Mega Sharpedo is another Pokemon that appreciates the support provided by Choice Scarf Rotom-W (remove comma) in scouting and weakening the opposing team to make it easier for Mega Sharpedo to clean up late-game. Rotom-W needs to switch in and out continuously while performing its role as a scout. Thus, it benefits from Starmie's ability to get rid of entry hazards.

Rest along with Chesto Berry can be used on the physically defensive set, as Pain Split is very unreliable.

**Grass-types**: Resisting both of Rotom-W's STAB moves and hitting it super effectively, (add comma) make Grass-types, such as Mega Venusaur, Serperior, and Breloom, are ideal counters for Rotom-W.

[OVERVIEW]

Water
========

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

========

Volcanion also benefits from Rotom-W's immunity to Ground-type moves, (AC) while it can take out Grass-type Pokemon that threaten Rotom-W.

It deals the most damage out of any of its Rotom-W's moves and is most suitable for cleaning up late-game, although its poor accuracy is something to watch out for.
