[OVERVIEW]

Manectric acts as a sufficient revenge killer for more offensively inclined teams by providing momentum with Volt Switch and being relatively strong. It has access to Lightning Rod, providing an Electric immunity for teammates while simultaneously boosting Manectric's Special Attack stat. Access to Fire-type coverage in Overheat and Flamethrower is somewhat unique for an Electric-type, dealing super effective damage to Grass-types that resist or are immune to Thunderbolt such as Lilligant, Torterra, and Ferroseed. Manectric also has unique access to the move Switcheroo, which can situationally incapacitate a wall or tank. Manectric faces competition from Zebstrika, despite having a better Special Attack, because of Zebstrika's better Speed tier and access to Sap Sipper. Manectric also faces competition from Alolan Raichu with its unique dual STAB combination and superior Speed stat, although Manectric has Lightning Rod and Fire-type coverage and is not easily Pursuit trapped by Skuntank. Choice Scarf somewhat distinguishes itself from its competition, but it can leave Manectric as setup bait if locked into the wrong move and prevents Manectric from fully utilizing its coverage moves.

[SET]
name: Choice Scarf
move 1: Thunderbolt
move 2: Volt Switch
move 3: Overheat
move 4: Hidden Power Grass / Switcheroo
item: Choice Scarf
ability: Lightning Rod
nature: Timid
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Thunderbolt is Manectric's strongest reliable STAB move, dealing solid neutral damage to threats like Primeape, Jynx, and Skuntank, as well as super effective damage to the likes of Qwilfish, Carracosta, Swanna, and Archeops. Volt Switch allows Manectric to pivot out against Pokemon it cannot adequately deal with, gaining momentum in the process. Overheat hits the Grass-types that resist Electric-type attacks such as Lilligant, Abomasnow, Ferroseed, and Shiftry. Hidden Power Grass hits Lanturn, Gastrodon, and Golem, three Pokemon Manectric otherwise can't touch. Switcheroo can incapacitate walls such as Audino, removing their usefulness for the remainder of the match.

Set Details
========

Maximum EVs in Special Attack allow Manectric to hit as hard as possible. A Timid nature, 252 Speed EVs, and a Choice Scarf enable Manectric to outspeed the majority of the metagame, including +1 Jynx and Lilligant, as well as +2 Carracosta. Lightning Rod allows Manectric to safely switch into predicted Electric-type attacks while simultaneously boosting its Special Attack by one stage.

Usage Tips
========

Choice Scarf Manectric is typically the main way to check faster foes for a team, as it is one of the fastest Choice Scarf users in the tier. Keeping Manectric around until mid- or late-game is most optimal for maximum cleaning potential. Manectric is pretty frail, so its usually advised to not directly switch it in unless on a resisted attack, on an Electric-type attack, or you are predicting the opponent to switch. Sets utilizing Switcheroo should be cautious to not switch items too early, as switching away its Choice Scarf too early in the match can mean Manectric is no longer able to revenge kill Pokemon like Archeops and Primeape. Try not to lock Manectric into Electric-type moves when the opponent still has Ground-types and Electric-immune Pokemon around. It is usually better to lock Manectric into a coverage move to prevent it from losing momentum. Manectric is a decent revenge killer, picking off weakened Pokemon such as Mesprit and Choice Scarf Primeape. Volt Switch should be used to pivot and gain momentum for your team while dealing chip damage at the same time.

Team Options
========

Manectric appreciates having another VoltTurn partner, such as Mesprit, Primeape, or Silvally-Fairy to help chip away at the opponent's Pokemon so another teammate can clean up late-game. Water- and Flying-types like Carracosta, Swanna, and Oriocrio-G appreciate the Electric-type immunity Manectric provides. In turn, Water-types deal super effective damage to the Ground-types Manectric is weak to, while Flying-types are immune to Ground-type attacks. Manectric appreciates teammates that set up Stealth Rock and Spikes, such as Mesprit and Ferroseed. With support from entry hazards, Manectric has an easier time chipping away at the opponent's Pokemon, especially Pokemon like Lanturn and Gastrodon, which it has a hard time wearing down. Qwilfish, Mesprit, and Archeops are three great examples of type synergy and hazard stacking. Grass-types like Lilligant and Ludicolo make good partners for Manectric, as they can switch into Ground-types that trouble Manectric. This is especially important if Manectric makes a misprediction and is locked into an Electric-type move against an opposing Ground-type. Pursuit trappers such as Skuntank and Liepard assist Manectric in removing troublesome checks, most notably Lanturn. Wallbreakers like Drampa also assist with wearing down Manectric's checks by severely denting them.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

A Choice Specs set opens up opportunities for Manectric to be a decent wallbreaker. However, it still suffers from being easily taken advantage of, without being able to outspeed key threats. It is still outclassed by Pokemon such as Zebstrika and Alolan Raichu in this role. Flamethrower is 100% accurate and doesn't have any drawbacks, unlike Overheat. However, Flamethrower fails to revenge kill Pokemon such as +1 Lilligant. Life Orb may sound appealing to make use of Manectric's near-perfect coverage, but it wears Manectric down quickly. Thunder packs a lot more punch than Thunderbolt and Volt Switch but is not reliable and usually not a good move to lock into. Thunder, however, is a decent option on a rain team. Toxic nails Lanturn and Gastrodon on the switch but generally isn't worth running on Choice-item sets, as locking into a non-attacking move loses all momentum, and Hidden Power Grass hits them super effectively anyway. Hidden Power Ice hits Dragon-types such as Drampa and Alolan Exeggutor that Manectric otherwise would have a hard time combating against, but it leaves Manectric susceptible to Lanturn and Gastrodon.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Dragon-types**: Without Hidden Power Ice, Dragon-types easily beat Manectric one-on-one. Drampa resists all of Manectric's moves, while Alolan Exeggutor forces Manectric to use Overheat to hit it neutrally.

**Electric-immune Pokemon**: Motor Drive, Lightning Rod, and Volt Absorb, users such as Electivire, Zebstrika, Togedemaru, and Lanturn as well as Ground-type Pokemon such as Golem and Gastrodon all take advantage of Manectric Choice-locking itself into one of its STAB moves, killing all momentum for the Manectric user. Lanturn is especially good at this, as it resists Overheat and is at best 5HKOed by Hidden Power Grass. Most other Electric-type immunities have to be careful playing around Overheat and Hidden Power Grass.

**Specially Defensive Pokemon**: Manectric has a hard time overcoming bulky Pokemon that invest in Special Defense, such as Clefairy, Audino, Musharna, Type: Null, and Assault Vest Magmortar, with the last two having access to reliable recovery. It can, however, cripple the former four for the remainder of the match by using Switcheroo to give them a Choice Scarf.

**Priority Moves**: Manectric's frailty leaves it susceptible to priority from the likes of Hitmonchan and Skuntank once weakened.

Okay, firstly, the above post jumped the gun a bit, as only Tone and Akir agreed with the above; the rest of QC wasn't able to give input before the above post was made. I don't agree with removing its Choice Specs set at all, especially given how easily it wears down commonly used Pokemon with an immunity to Electric-type moves via Specs HP Grass. For example, weakening bulky Lanturn opens up the way for Magmortar (3HKO, or 2HKO against Specs Lanturn); breaking Gastrodon removes barriers to a Kabutops or Lycanroc sweep (OHKO); removing Piloswine can allow Grass-types like Lilligant to sweep freely without the risk of being revenge KOed by Ice Shard (2HKO after SR); beating both Golurk and Palossand allows Hitmonchan to remove entry hazards for its teammates (2HKO), etc. Manectric with Choice Specs certainly has a niche in this meta as a Pokemon that can bring in Electric-type immunities and subsequently break them with its coverage and reasonably high SpA, therefore, Choice Specs should be listed as a set on its analysis.

Secondly, a comparison to Zebstrika in Overview doesn't make sense given their discrepancies in Special Attack and Speed. Even despite Zebstrika's use as a check to Archeops, Zebstrika really lacks the immediate power that Manectric has, so I find writing about it like it's overshadowed by Zebstrika to be inaccurate.

Finally, Manectric's niche should absolutely be centered around its access to Switcheroo. This should therefore be reflected in Overview, and in its order on its movesets.

So, I think it'd be best to write up Manectric with two sets:

1st set -

name: Choice Scarf
move 1: Thunderbolt
move 2: Volt Switch
move 3: Flamethrower / Overheat
move 4: Switcheroo / Hidden Power Grass / Hidden Power Ice
item: Choice Scarf
ability: Lightning Rod
nature: Timid
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

and:

2nd set -

name: Choice Specs
move 1: Thunderbolt
move 2: Volt Switch
move 3: Hidden Power Grass
move 4: Switcheroo / Overheat
item: Choice Specs
ability: Lightning Rod
nature: Timid
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

Fire coverage is highlighted on its Scarf set due to its ability to best teams based around Sunny Day; a CS, Sunny Day-boosted Flamethrower outspeeds and OHKOes Grass-types commonly used on Sunny Day teams, outside of Shiftry and Timid Victreebel. Additionally, this supplies Manectric with a tool to OHKO Choice Scarf Jynx with Stealth Rock damage factored in; this is relevant as Jynx is a Scarf user that is picking up steam in the current metagame. Grass coverage needs to be highlighted on its Specs set given the interplay between Manectric and opposing Pokemon with immunities to Electric-type moves.

[OVERVIEW]
  • Manectric separates itself from other Electric-Types in the tier with both a Special Attack stat and Speed stat that exceeds the Base 100 benchmark. i mean manetric is still super weak so idt that 100 benchmark matters, unless you meant speed which is flawed since other elecs like zeb/trode/alolan raichu exceed
  • Hidden Power Grass / provides near flawless type coverage with STAB Thunderbolt pls say what hp grass hits. (pilo/lanturn/GASTRO)
  • Access to Fire coverage in Overheat and Flamethrower is fairly unique for an Electric-type, dealing super-effective damage to Grass-types that resist Thunderbolt. what grass-types?
  • Lightning Rod provides an electric immunity for teammates whilst simultaneously boosting Manectric's Special Attack stat to outrageous levels lol its not outrageous at all even at +1 its piss weak and struggles to break past its checks
  • Manectric faces stiff competition from Zebstrika despite having a better Special Attack, because of Zebstrika's better speed tier and access to Sap Sipper. alolan raichu outclasses it and breaks through its checks better and has better sheer power b/c nasty plot
  • Choice items somewhat alleviate this, but can leave Manectric easily taken advantage of, and prevents Manectric from fully utilizing its coverage moves.
  • I think whats missing in this overview is manetrics niche as a choiced elec to actually cripple its checks with Switcheroo. Switcheroo allows it to cripple stuff like type:null/lanturn/pilo
  • the entire overview seems like you are saying manetric is good when it really isnt

[SET]

move 2: Volt Switch
move 3: Overheat

Moves
========
  • Thunderbolt is Manectric's strongest reliable STAB move, dealing solid neutral damage to threats like Primeape, Jynx, and Skuntank
  • Volt Switch pivots out against Pokemon Manectric cannot adequately deal with like?
  • Overheat checks the Grass-types that resist Electric such as Lilligant, Abomasnow, Ferroseed and Shiftry
  • Switcheroo can incapacitate walls such as Musharna, Sableye, and Audino, removing their usefulness for the remainder of the match lanturn pilo and type: null are probably better mentions. how does sab wall??
  • Hidden Power Grass hits Gastrodon and Lanturn, two Pokemon Manectric otherwise couldn't touch. i would say hp grass is still fairly weak and only chips lanturn

Set Details
========

  • A Timid nature and a Choice Scarf allows Manectric to outspeed the majority of the meta-game, including +1 Jynx, +1 Lilligant, and +2 Carracosta.
  • Lightning Rod allows Manectric to safely switch into Electric-type attacks while simultaneously boosting its Special Attack by one stage. it cant always switch into elecs tbh since they carry coverage like overheat (zeb) or psyshock ( alolan raichu)
  • Maximum EVs in Special Attack and Speed allows Manectric to hit as hard and as fast as possible.

Usage Tips
========

  • Scarf Manectric is typically the main source of speed control for the team, so keeping Manectric around until mid- or late-game is most optimal to revenge kill fast threats like Jynx
  • Manectric is pretty frail, so its usually advised to not directly switch in Manectric unless its a weak attack, an Electric-type attack, or you are predicting the opponent to switch.
  • Sets utilizing Switcheroo should be cautious to not switch items too early, as switching your Scarf with the wrong opposing Pokemon may produce unsatisfactory results.
  • this seems a bit short maybe mention when to use volt switch?

Team Options
========

  • Manectric appreciates having another VoltTurn partner, such as Mesprit, Primeape or Silvally-Fairy to help chip away at the opponent's Pokemon so that another teammate can clean up late-game
  • Water- and Flying-types appreciate the electric-immunity Manectric provides. In turn, Water-types deal super-effective damage to the Ground-types Manectric is weak to, while Flying-types are immune themselves to Ground what water-types?
  • Manectric appreciates teammates that set up hazards such as Mesprit and Ferroseed, so that Manectric has an easier time chipping away at the opponent's Pokemon since its super weak. Qwilfish, Mesprit, and Archeops are three great examples of type synergy and hazard stacking.
  • hm mane makes good glue on rain teams since elec immune

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • Flamethrower is 100% accurate and doesn't self-inflict two Special Attack drops, but Specs Flamethrower does less than Life Orb Overheat from Zebstrika, Manectric's biggest competition, with the Scarf set doing even less.
  • Life Orb may sound appealing to make use of Manectric's near perfect coverage, but Zebstrika outclasses it in this regard
  • Thunder packs a lot more punch than Thunderbolt and Volt Switch, but is not reliable and usually not a good move to choice lock yourself into. should say its used more on rain teams
  • Toxic nails Lanturn and Gastrodon on the switch, but generally isn't worth running on choice sets
  • Hidden Power Ice hits Dragon-types such as Drampa and Alolan Exeggutor, that Manectric otherwise would have a hard time combatting against; however, this leaves it very weak to lanturn/pilo which are harder checks
  • Modest can be ran over Timid, for more damage output but misses out on outspeeding +1 Base 95s such as Z-Lovely Kiss Jynx and Choice Scarf Primeape

Checks and Counters
===================

**Dragon-types**: Without Hidden Power Ice, Dragon-Types easily beat Manectric one on one. Drampa resists all of Manectric's moves, while Alolan Exeggutor forces Manectric to minus two just to hit in neutrally with Overheat.

**Electric-immunities**: Motor Drive, Lightning Rod, Volt Absorb, and Ground-type Pokemon all take advantage of Manectric choice-locking itself into its STAB moves, killing all momentum for the Manectric user. Lanturn is especially good at this, as it resists Overheat and is at best 5HKO'd by Hidden Power Grass.

**Priority Moves**: Manectric's frailty leaves it susceptible to priority from the likes of Hitmonchan and Skuntank once weakened.

**Specially Defensive Pokemon**: Manectric has a hard time overcoming bulky special defense Pokemon such as Muk, pilo(isnt spdef but still), type: null Magmortar, Cradily, Musharna, and Audino, with the last three having access to reliable recovery.

  • Manectric separates itself from other Electric-Types in the tier with both a Special Attack stat and Speed stat that exceeds the Base 100 benchmark. (eh, it doesn't really though, does it? raichu alola has a better speed tier and almost the same special attack. it's niche is switcheroo and lightning rod lol)
  • Hidden Power Grass provides near flawless type coverage with STAB Thunderbolt (almost unresisted neutral coverage, bar grass types)
  • Access to Fire coverage in Overheat and Flamethrower is fairly unique for an Electric-type, dealing super-effective damage to Grass-types that resist Thunderbolt (is it unique? evire and eel also have flamethrower; overheat is semi-unique ig) (list a few examples imo)
  • Lightning Rod provides an electric immunity for teammates whilst simultaneously boosting Manectric's Special Attack stat to outrageous levels (this is one of the reasons why you'd use it over raichu-a btw, also remove everything from "to" please)
  • Manectric faces stiff competition from Zebstrika despite having a better Special Attack, because of Zebstrika's better speed tier and access to Sap Sipper.
  • Choice items somewhat alleviate this, but can leave Manectric easily taken advantage of, and prevents Manectric from fully utilizing its coverage moves. (specifically scarf, choice specs don't alleviate it being slower)
  • Manectric deviates itself from other choiced Electric-types of the tier with access to Switcheroo, allowing Manectric to switch items with its opponent.

Moves
========
  • Thunderbolt is Manectric's strongest reliable STAB move, dealing solid neutral damage to threats like Primeape, Jynx, and Skuntank
  • Volt Switch pivots out against Pokemon Manectric cannot adequately deal with (also helps it gain momentum)
  • Overheat checks the Grass-types that resist Electric such as Lilligant, Abomasnow, Ferroseed and Shiftry (it doesn't check per-say, it just hits really)
  • Switcheroo can incapacitate walls such as Musharna, Sableye, and Audino, removing their usefulness for the remainder of the match (remove mushy, it's best set is z dgleam)
  • Hidden Power Grass hits Gastrodon and Lanturn, two Pokemon Manectric otherwise couldn't touch. (ehhhh, it's so weak against lanturn, i'd just say golem tbh)

  • Sets utilizing Switcheroo should be cautious to not switch items too early, as switching your Scarf with the wrong opposing Pokemon may produce unsatisfactory results. (like? losing your speed control for example)
  • Should be wary of trying to volt when ground types and such are around, so should attempt to use coverage
  • Decent revenge killer thanks to a good speed tier

Team Options
========

In turn, Water-types deal super-effective damage to the Ground-types Manectric is weak to, while Flying-types are immune themselves to Ground (like?)

Qwilfish, Mesprit, and Archeops are three great examples of type synergy and hazard stacking. (it heavily appreciates chip on both lanturn and gastrodon)
  • Skunk, can trap lant and defog, mane is worn down quickly as it's often the momentum abuser of a team (or one of them)
  • Wallbreakers to help it clean late-game

  • Life Orb may sound appealing to make use of Manectric's near perfect coverage, but Zebstrika outclasses it in this regard (also worn down super easily)
  • Thunder packs a lot more punch than Thunderbolt and Volt Switch, but is not reliable and usually not a good move to choice lock yourself into
  • Toxic nails Lanturn and Gastrodon on the switch, but generally isn't worth running on choice sets

  • Manectric deviates itself from other choiced Electric-types of the tier with access to Switcheroo, allowing Manectric to switch items with its opponent.
  • Manectric also separates itself with Lightning Rod, providing an electric immunity for teammates while simultaneously boosting Manectric's Special Attack stat u make its niche about switcheroo and lightning rod, which it just isn't. switcheroo is nice but not set making (doesn't even run it 100% of the time) and zeb has lrod, the niche is the blend of speed and power that nothing else has (zeb/chu weaker, rotom-f/s not fast enough, pompom neither). These points are worth mentioning, but if you specifically use the language "deviates itself" or "separates itself" then they actually have to separate it
  • Hidden Power Grass provides all unresisted type coverage with STAB Thunderbolt, bar Grass-types hp grass rly isn't worth its own point or, when u write it up, sentence

i read this and don't know what manectric's niche is. you barely mention choice scarf at all, whereas the entire point of using the one set we have on site must be to use choice scarf. talking about what manectric does in the tier is more important than tiny things like the moves it happens to have or the mons it competes with

  • Switcheroo can incapacitate walls such as Sableye and Audino, removing their usefulness for the remainder of the match sab is a weird example just cuz it's one of the few walls manec does a lot of damage against and there's plenty of other examples u could use
  • Hidden Power Grass hits Gastrodon and Golem, two Pokemon Manectric otherwise couldn't touch. lanturn also needs a mention

Set Details
========

  • Maximum EVs in Special Attack and Speed allows Manectric to hit as hard and as fast as possible. "hit as fast as possible" lol. why don't u just talk about speed EVs in the below bullet not with the SpA EVs
  • A Timid nature and a Choice Scarf allows Manectric to outspeed the majority of the meta-game, including +1 Jynx, +1 Lilligant, and +2 Carracosta.
  • Lightning Rod allows Manectric to safely switch into predicted Electric-type attacks while simultaneously boosting its Special Attack by one stage.

  • Try not to lock yourself into Electric-type moves when the opponent still has Ground-types and Electric-immunities around; it's usually better to lock yourself into a coverage move i would go slightly more into this, playing with manec when ur opponent has an electric immunity is kinda like trying as hard as u can to not bring it out or, if u do, not click a move
  • Manectric is a decent revenge killer, picking off weakened Pokemon such as Mesprit and Skuntank below 40%. it's not a decent revenge killer of the mons u mentioned lol, there's things like scarf ape and u choose "skuntank below 40%" which is not only lower than it needs to be but makes manec sound weak as piss

Team Options

  • Manectric appreciates having another VoltTurn partner, such as Mesprit, Primeape or Silvally-Fairy to help chip away at the opponent's Pokemon so that another teammate can clean up late-game
  • Water- and Flying-types appreciate the electric-immunity Manectric provides. In turn, Water-types deal super-effective damage to the Ground-types Manectric is weak to, while Flying-types are immune themselves to Ground. Examples include Carracosta, Swanna, and Oricorio-G.

  • A Choice Specs set opens up opportunities to 3HKO Lanturn, 2HKO Magmortar, and 2HKO Hitmonchan, among other notable calculations this totally misses the point of specs manec, it's not about specific calculations and fulfilling the same niche, it's a totally different type of thing. u become a wallbreaker instead of speed control/revenge killer. try to avoid making them sound the same. However, a Choice Specs set still suffers from being easily taken advantage of without being able to outspeed key threats and is still outclassed by Pokemon such as Zebstrika and Alolan Raichu
  • Flamethrower is 100% accurate and doesn't self-inflict two Special Attack drops, but Flamethrower fails to revenge kill Pokemon such as +1 Lilligant and is too frail to take a hit back.
  • Life Orb may sound appealing to make use of Manectric's near perfect coverage, but Zebstrika outclasses it in this regard, and it wears Manectric down quickly

Checks and Counters

**Dragon-types**: Without Hidden Power Ice, Dragon-Types easily beat Manectric one on one. Drampa resists all of Manectric's moves, while Alolan Exeggutor forces Manectric to minus two just to hit in neutrally

**Electric-immunities**: Motor Drive, Lightning Rod, Volt Absorb, and Ground-type Pokemon such as Electivire, Zebstrika, Togedemaru, Lanturn, Golem, and Gastrodon all take advantage of Manectric choice-locking itself into its STAB moves, killing all momentum for the Manectric user. Lanturn is especially good at this, as it resists Overheat and is at best 5HKO'd by Hidden Power Grass.

**Priority Moves**: Manectric's frailty leaves it susceptible to priority from the likes of Hitmonchan and Skuntank once weakened. move this behind spdef pokemon, it's not as big of an issue for manec

**Specially Defensive Pokemon**: Manectric has a hard time overcoming bulky special defense Pokemon such as Muk, Magmortar, Musharna, Cradily, Sableye, and Audino, with the last three having access to reliable recovery. It can, however, cripple the latter three for the remainder of the match by Switcherooing them a Choice Scarf sab is still really weird to mention, phys def is the better set and takes over half from scarf tbolt and u already have plenty of examples

[OVERVIEW]

Manectric has access to Lightning Rod, providing an electric immunity for teammates while simultaneously boosting Manectric's Special Attack stat. Manectric also has unique access to the move Switcheroo, although the introduction of Z-Crystals hinders Manectric's use of Switcheroo, as being locked into Switcheroo kills all momentum <--- this doesn't need a full line in the Overview itself; it's a very rare situation but do mention how it can cripple tanks and walls with Switcheroo. Access to Fire coverage in Overheat and Flamethrower is somewhat unique for an Electric-type, dealing super-effective damage to Grass-types that resist Thunderbolt such as Lilligant, Torterra, and Ferroseed. Manectric faces stiff competition from Zebstrika despite having a better Special Attack, because of Zebstrika's better speed tier and access to Sap Sipper while you can give a brief mention to Zebstrika, Alolan Raichu is a much more viable mon and therefore a more relevant comparison (although Manectric has Lightningrod and fire-coverage and is not easily Pursuit trapped by Skunk). Choice Scarf somewhat alleviates this, but it can leave Manectric easily taken advantage of, and prevents Manectric from fully utilizing its coverage moves. expand on how being locked into Electric moves can be difficult Nonetheless, Choice Scarf Manectric acts as a sufficient revenge killer for more offensively inclined teams

You need to start out this analysis mentioning what Manectric does and why you should use it, and then go over the specific traits. First start out with something like "Manectric can be a decent revenge killer with Scarf and also provide momentum with Volt" <---- don't use those exact words. Then go into its niches in Lightning Rod and Switcheroo.

Thunderbolt is Manectric's strongest reliable STAB move, dealing solid neutral damage to threats like Primeape, Jynx, and Skuntank and super-effectively hitting what?. Volt Switch pivots out against Pokemon Manectric cannot adequately deal with, gaining momentum in the process. Overheat hits the Grass-types that resist Electric such as Lilligant, Abomasnow, Ferroseed and Shiftry. Switcheroo can incapacitate walls such as Audino, removing their usefulness for the remainder of the match. Hidden Power Grass hits Lanturn, Gastrodon and Golem, three Pokemon Manectric otherwise couldn't touch.

Set Details

Maximum EVs in Special Attack and Speed allows Manectric to hit as hard as possible. A Timid nature, 252 Speed EVs and a Choice Scarf allows Manectric to outspeed the majority of the meta-game, including +1 Jynx, +1 Lilligant, and +2 Carracosta. Lightning Rod allows Manectric to safely switch into predicted Electric-type attacks while simultaneously boosting its Special Attack by one stage. good

Usage Tips
========

Scarf Manectric is typically the main source of speed control for the team, as it is one of the fastest Choice Scarf users in the tier, so keeping Manectric around until mid- or late-game is most optimal for maximum cleaning potential. Manectric is pretty frail, so its usually advised to not directly switch in Manectric unless its a resisted attack, an Electric-type attack, or you are predicting the opponent to switch. Sets utilizing Switcheroo should be cautious to not switch items too early, as switching your Scarf with the wrong opposing Pokemon may produce unsatisfactory results, such as losing speed control You have the right idea but make it clearer. You can say something like "be careful about using Switcheroo when you want to keep Scarf to revenge kill pokemon like Archeops and Primeape" . Try not to lock yourself into Electric-type moves when the opponent still has Ground-types and Electric-immunities around; it's usually better to lock yourself into a coverage move to prevent yourself from losing momentum. Manectric is a decent revenge killer, picking off weakened Pokemon such as Mesprit and Choice Scarf Primeape. Talk about using Volt Switch to pivot

Team Options
========

Manectric appreciates having another VoltTurn partner, such as Mesprit, Primeape or Silvally-Fairy to help chip away at the opponent's Pokemon so that another teammate can clean up late-game. Water- and Flying-types appreciate the electric-immunity Manectric provides. In turn, Water-types deal super-effective damage to the Ground-types Manectric is weak to, while Flying-types are immune themselves to Ground. Examples include Carracosta, Swanna, and Oricorio-G. Manectric appreciates teammates that set up Stealth Rock and Spikes such as Mesprit and Ferroseed, so that Manectric has an easier time chipping away at the opponent's Pokemon, especially Pokemon like Lanturn and Gastrodon which it has a hard time combating against. Qwilfish, Mesprit, and Archeops are three great examples of type synergy and hazard stacking. Grass-types like Lilligant and Ludicolo make good partners for Manectric as they can switch into Ground-types for it if Manectric makes a misprediction and is locked into an Electric-type move against an opposing Ground-type. Pursuit trappers such as Skuntank and Liepard all assist Manectric in removing its troublesome foes, most notably Lanturn. Wallbreakers also assist Manectric's checks by severely denting them expand on wallbreakers (Drampa is a good example as it beats Lanturn and Gastrodon). this is very good though

A Choice Specs set opens up opportunities to 3HKO Lanturn, 2HKO Magmortar, and 2HKO Hitmonchan, among other notable calculations, making Manectric a decent wallbreaker. Like Megazard said, it's less about specific calculations than just giving it a huge boost in power in general However, a Choice Specs set still suffers from being easily taken advantage of without being able to outspeed key threats and is still outclassed by faces competition from Pokemon such as Zebstrika and Alolan Raichu. Flamethrower is 100% accurate and doesn't self-inflict two Special Attack drops, but Flamethrower fails to revenge kill Pokemon such as +1 Lilligant and is too frail to take a hit back. Life Orb may sound appealing to make use of Manectric's near perfect coverage, but Zebstrika outclasses it in this regard, and it wears Manectric down quickly ehh Zebra doesn't really outclass it because of the huge power difference, you can mention Alolan Raichu but just saying it is worn down easily is good enough. Thunder packs a lot more punch than Thunderbolt and Volt Switch, but is not reliable and usually not a good move to choice lock yourself into. Using Manectric on a rain team, however, should almost always run Thunder over Thunderbolt Thunder is a decent option on Rain, but this is probably an exaggeration. Toxic nails Lanturn and Gastrodon on the switch, but generally isn't worth running on choice sets, as locking yourself into a non-attacking move losses all momentum and HP Grass hits them anyway. Hidden Power Ice hits Dragon-types such as Drampa and Alolan Exeggutor that Manectric otherwise would have a hard time combatting against, but leaves itself susceptible to Lanturn and Gastrodon.

Thunder packs a lot more punch than Thunderbolt and Volt Switch,(RC) but is not reliable and usually not a good move to lock yourself into. Thunder, however, is a decent option on a rain team. Toxic nails Lanturn and Gastrodon on the switch but generally isn't worth running on Choice-(AH)item sets, as locking yourself into a non-attacking move loses all momentum, and Hidden Power Grass hits them super effectively anyway. Hidden Power Ice hits Dragon-types such as Drampa and Alolan Exeggutor that Manectric otherwise would have a hard time combatting combating against, but it leaves itself Manectric susceptible to Lanturn and Gastrodon.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Dragon-types**: Without Hidden Power Ice, Dragon-types easily beat Manectric one-on-one. Drampa resists all of Manectric's moves, while Alolan Exeggutor forces Manectric to use Overheat to hit it neutrally.(period)

**Electric-(AH)immune Pokemon Immunities**: Motor Drive, Lightning Rod, and Volt Absorb,(RC) users such as Electivire, Zebstrika, Togedemaru, and Lanturn as well as Ground-type Pokemon such as Golem and Gastrodon all take advantage of Manectric Choice-locking itself into one of its STAB moves, killing all momentum for the Manectric user. Lanturn is especially good at this, as it resists Overheat and is at best 5HKOed by Hidden Power Grass. Most other Electric-type immunities Electric-immune Pokemon ("immunities" as a noun is akin to saying "resists" as a noun) have to be careful playing around Overheat and Hidden Power Grass.

**Priority Moves**: Manectric's frailty leaves it susceptible to priority from the likes of Hitmonchan and Skuntank once weakened.(period)
