I'm a noob at trying to start battles.

I've tried about 50 times, and only got 1 decent battle. All the people I tried battling either didn't respond, rejected the challenge, or dropped out before even making one move. Am I doing something wrong? Should I specify different clauses? Should I join the chat?

Use the find tab found on the right side of the window. You load a team, specify the tier you want to play, and then click "Find Match". It will automatically pair you with another person.
