Lol no Thundurus yet.

[Pros]

Has a blazing fast base 130 Speed.

Has a decently high base 110 Special Attack.

The Volt Absorb ability makes Jolteon immune to Electric-type attacks.

Jolteon can check other very fast threats such as Talonflame, Greninja, and Noivern.

[Cons]

Jolteon has a sparse movepool and its coverage moves are weak.

It's very frail.

It faces slight competition for a teamslot from Galvantula, who can use Sticky Web and packs better overall coverage.

[Set Recommendations]

name: Special Attacker
move 1: Thunderbolt
move 2: Volt Switch
move 3: Shadow Ball
move 4: Hidden Power Ice
ability: Volt Absorb
item: Life Orb / Choice Specs
evs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
nature: Timid

Thanks to its high Speed and above average Special Attack, Jolteon is able to check a lot of very dangerous and prominent threats in the metagame, such as Talonflame, Greninja, Azumarill, Garchomp, and Togekiss. On top of that, Jolteon possesses enough Speed to outpace +1 Adamant Dragonite and Gyarados, both of which can be OHKOed by a coverage move after Stealth Rock. Thunderbolt is Jolteon's most reliable STAB Electric-type move, and is useful for dealing with the Water- and Flying-types that litter the tier, like Azumarill, Togekiss, and Talonflame. Volt Switch gives Jolteon much-needed momentum against common switch-ins like Tyranitar and Ferrothorn, allowing for you to retaliate with a check of your own. Hidden Power Ice is essential in dealing with Gliscor and Garchomp, who otherwise completely wall this set and OHKO back with Earthquake. It's also nice for nailing Dragon-types like Salamence and Dragonite. Unfortunately, Jolteon lacks any sort of useful attacking options aside from Shadow Ball, but it's still useful for OHKOing Gengar after Stealth Rock and hits Aegislash decently hard.

Life Orb is by far the best item to use on Jolteon because it gives it extra power while still allowing for it to freely switch between moves, which can be essential in a lot of circumstances when Ground-types are still present. However, Choice Specs is still an option because it allows Jolteon to hit very hard, and it makes for a wonderful late-game cleaner with Thunderbolt. As for partners, Jolteon appreciates the removal of special walls such as Blissey, Chansey, Ferrothorn, and Tyranitar. Aegislash is a great partner because it can set up all over Jolteon's common switch-ins, like Ferrothorn and Blissey, and demolish them with a Sacred Sword. Scizor and Gyarados both have fantastic offensive synergy and like Aegislash can set up on many of Jolteon's checks and counters.

name: Baton Pass
move 1: Substitute
move 2: Baton Pass
move 3: Thunderbolt
move 4: Hidden Power Ice
ability: Volt Absorb
item: Leftovers / Life Orb
evs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
nature: Timid

The sole purpose of this set is to set up a Substitute on a predicted switch and then Baton Pass to a suitable recipient. Jolteon's high Speed and decent power makes it sufficiently threatening that it can force a lot of switches, making it easy to set up Substitutes on a good portion of the metagame. Baton Pass is the key to the success of this set, and enables Jolteon can to pass free Substitutes for to its teammates. Thunderbolt is for STAB and grants your team coverage against Flying- and Water-types such as Skarmory and Azumarill. Hidden Power Ice is important so that Jolteon isn't completely helpless against Ground-types like Garchomp and Gliscor.

Leftovers is the preferred item because it allows Jolteon to set up Substitutes more comfortably, but Life Orb makes Jolteon more useful offensively, which can be equally as important in some cases. To make best use of this set, Jolteon should be paired with some kind of offensive sweeper or wallbreaker that has all-around good offensive synergy with it, and would appreciate the protection from Substitute to help it set up, if applicable. Scizor is a great partner because it can set up Swords Dance quite easily from behind a Substitute against many Pokemon that threaten Jolteon, such as Tyranitar, Ferrothorn, and Blissey. Gyarados can easily set up on many of Jolteon's checks, like Diggersby and Hippowdon, from behind a Substitute, and can demolish them with a Waterfall. Talonflame appreciates the removal of bulky Water-types and a free Substitute; two things that this set can easily accomplish for it.

[Checks and Counters]

Pokemon with high Special Defense like Blissey and Chansey can easily switch into anything that Jolteon can throw at them, and then proceed to Seismic Toss it to death. Bulky Ground-types are obviously some of the best counters to Jolteon as well, as they are immune to its STAB Electric-type attacks. Specially Defensive Hippowdon, Gastrodon, Quagsire, Mamoswine, and Excadrill laugh at Hidden Power Ice and can demolish Jolteon with a STAB Ground-type move. Ferrothorn resists its STAB move and can set up entry hazards in its face. Tyranitar's insane special bulk allows it to take little damage from Thunderbolt and deal massive damage to Jolteon the following turn. Choice Scarf users such as Garchomp, Diggersby, and Salamence can outspeed and OHKO it with a STAB move.

Remove the hippo from counters and replace with Quagsire. Add Tyranitar as a counter as well. With that said, the third con should be removed as you should mention those Pokemon in C&C.

QC APPROVED 2/3

Add SpD Hippo. He is one of Jolteon's best counters and blocks Volt Switch while also phazing Sub versions (you don't have to add all of QC's advices btw if some are wrong or you disagree with them).
