Calm Mind Sweeper (Arceus-Ground) @ Earth Plate
Ability: Multitype
EVs: 252 HP / 40 Def / 216 Spe
IVs: 0 Atk
Timid Nature
- Calm Mind
- Recover
- Judgment
- Ice Beam / Power Gem / Gravity
[SET COMMENTS]
Arceus-Ground excels as the premier defensive Ground-type in the tier, answering many common Pokemon like Regieleki, Eternatus, and Great Tusk. Its Speed tier allows it to function as a great defensive switch-in to Red Orb users like Landorus, Lugia, and Raging Bolt and outspeed and OHKO them with Judgment. Calm Mind lets it take on opposing special attackers like Raging Bolt, Eternatus, and non-Latiasite Magearna and Solgaleo and break through bulky defensive answers like Corviknight and Ho-Oh. Recover sets Arceus-Ground apart from other bulky Ground-types like Great Tusk, Ursaluna, and Groudon, letting it remain healthy over the course of a match. Ice Beam offers the best coverage alongside Ground-type Judgment, hitting Pinsirite Great Tusk and Dragonite, although Power Gem is also an option to better manage Pokemon such as Ho-Oh and Latiosite Ceruledge. Gravity is another option that instantly threatens these aforementioned Pokemon alongside other foes like Levitate Steel-types such as Magearna and Solgaleo, but comes at the cost of needing an extra turn of setup. 216 Speed EVs and a Timid nature let Arceus-Ground reach an important benchmark in outspeeding Raikou. The Defense EVs allow Arceus-Ground to better take on physical attackers like Regieleki and Great Tusk. Arceus-Ground is annoyed by Toxic spreaders like Latiasite Galarian Slowking and Pecharunt, so Pokemon that can absorb Toxic make for great partners, with options such as Sablenite Corviknight, Galarian Slowking, and pre-Mega-Evolved Blissey and Garganacl all being good choices. Arceus-Ground also fears strong Water-type wallbreakers that threaten to OHKO it like Urshifu-R and Walking Wake, so answers like Red Orb Lugia and Altarianite Dragonite offer great synergy. Strong physical attackers such as Hisiuan Samurott, Hisuian Arcanine, and Galarian Zapdos also appreciate the pressure Arceus-Ground can put on the tier's physical walls and, as a result, make for good teammates.
