*Please don't have me excecuted for formatting errors, they're sorta confusing and this is my first Analysis*
Overview
Regigigas has the niche, alongside Slaking, of having the highest Attack stat of any Normal-type, while possessing better balanced bulk than Slaking. This allows it to hit hard with powerful STAB-boosted moves like Facade, Extreme Speed, and Return. Its immunity to Ghost-type moves, namely Spectral Thief, also gives it a unique advantage as a setup sweeper.
Strategy Comments
Other Options
- On Priority Killer, U-turn can be run in place of Baton Pass if a team appreciates the chip damage more than stat-passing.
- Priority Killer can run 4 Def / 0 Spe with 0 Speed IV's and Brave nature to allow for a slow Baton Pass or U-Turn, but this means uninvested Kyurem-B outspeeds it on Fake Out.
- 4 Def / 0 Spe, 22 Speed IV's, and keeping Adamant Nature fixes this.
-Misty Surge can be run instead of Mold Breaker on Priority Killer to counter Psychic terrain, but Regigigas's team often has to be changed dramatically to adjust to Misty Terrain, and Dazzling seems to be more common in the meta than Psychic Surge.
-Setup Sweeper Regigigas can run Spore instead of Taunt for more general usefulness and to give it a chance for doubling up on Shell Smashes. However, Safety Goggles and Poison Heal are pretty common in the Meta, and the consequences of getting Spore bounced back at you can be more severe than Taunt.
-Setup Sweeper Regigigas can run full happiness and Return to counter Imposters running minimum happiness to counter Pokemon running Frustration to counter Imposters running max happiness to counter Pokemon running Return... and so on... There really is no winning answer in this demented game of Rock Paper Scissors. Just bring a Ghost type.
Checks and Counters
- Ghost-types: Neither of Priority Killer Regigigas's main moves hit Ghost types. Spectral Thief patches this issue up, but also means Imposterproofing it with a Ghost type doesn't work as well. Also, one should note that if Regigigas's moves have been scouted by an Imposter and it's running Explosion, the opponent may be able to predict the use of Explosion and switch into a Ghost-type that turn, meaning Regigigas dies for nothing.
- Healing attacks: Extreme Speed, unless boosted, can't OHKO much, so Pokemon that can heal up faster than they take damage are an issue. The biggest threats here are Drain Punch Mewtwo-X and Triage Oblivion Wing Rayquaza-M.
- Faster Priority: Ironically, priority -Ate users, which the Priority Killer set is meant to replace, are also one of its biggest issues. Diancie-M and Rayquaza-M both outspeed it on the Fake Out, and then Extreme Speed it to death before it can return the favor. Also, this set runs 4 Spe EV's for the express purpose of outspeeding Slaking's and other Regigigas's on the Fake Out, but an opponent could theoretically run 8 Spe EV's to one up this set.
-King's shield: Halving Priority Killed Regigigas's attack leaves it in a bad position where it has to leave itself or a teammate vulnerable by Swords Dancing itsels back to normal or switching, or else Baton Pass the halved attack stat to a teammate.
-Sturdy Shedinja: Priority Killer Regigigas can't touch it unless you run Spectral Thief, and it just sorta wrecks Setup Sweeper Regigigas.
-Magic Bounce Haze: Setup Sweeper tries to Taunt, gets it bounced back, gets Hazed, and then can't Shell Smash again because Taunt. Very sad.

- Extreme Speed: Regigigas's main damage option. After Fake Out, it's guaranteed to kill Pheromosa, Deoxys-S, and Deoxys-A, has just over a 94% chance of killing uninvested Mewtwo-Y, and is a guaranteed 2HKO on max HP Mewtwo-X and Rayquaza-M.
- Swords Dance: Gives Regigigas additional power on Extreme Speed and Explosion, or allows it to Baton Pass attack to allies. At +2, Extreme Speed has greater than 99.99% odds of 3HKOing 252 / 252+ Zygarde-C and Explosion OHKO's it.
- Spectral Thief: Lets Regigigas hit Ghost-types that are immune to both of its main moves, mainly Gengar-M, which it OHKO's. It also lets it steal setup sweeper's stats and then Baton Pass them to teammates for a reverse sweep. Plus, Mold Breaker allows it to kill Shedinja. It should be noted that running this move makes it harder to Imposterproof.
- Baton Pass: Passes Swords Dance or Spectral Thief boosts to teammates and lets Regigigas get out of situations it doesn't like. On PP stall teams, 64 PP helps make up for Extreme Speed's measly 8 PP.
- Explosion: Since Regigigas's main damage option, Extreme Speed, only had 8PP, it can quickly run out of PP and become a dead weight. Running Explosion allows it to go out with a bang, as Explosion, especially after a couple Swords Dances, will decimate just about anything. Two Swords Dances guarantee it kills 252 / 252+ Registeel, and after 3, even max bulk Fur Coat Zygarde-C at +2 defense will be decimated. This option, as a general rule, should only be chosen for hyper-offensive teams.
Set Details

Usage Tips
Regigigas's main purpose is to stop frail Shell Smash/Quiver Dance setup sweepers that might be running Dazzling or Queenly Majesty. As long as Psychic Terrain isn't up and the opponent isn't a Ghost-type, Mold Breaker means than nothing can stop Regigigas's Fake Out Extreme Speed combo. Usually when these frail sweepers come onto the field, they use their first turn to Quiver Dance or Shell Smash, meaning Regigigas can switch in on them freely. Even if they do choose to attack the first turn, the sash guarantees Regigigas stays alive and some of the very frail Pokemon (Greninja-Ash, Pheromosa, Mewtwo-Y, Deoxys-A) fall to the combo before they get a chance to attack again. Beware, though, of multi-hit moves.
Team Options
- Ghost types: If Regigigas isn't running Spectral Thief, running any Ghost types Imposterproofs it. Also, two of the biggest threats to Regigigas: Drain Punch from Mewtwo-X, and Sacred Sword from Mold Breaker Gengar, can be freely switched in on by Ghost types. Prankster Giratina with Spore is a great choice, as it can Spore them before they move, and even if Mewtwo-X has Triage, if Giratina is physically bulky it can tank an unboosted Leech Life easily, which is usually a Triage Mewtwo-X's second attacking move.
-Terrain setters: Misty Surge is great support for Regigigas, as it protects it from status, and carrying it allows Psychic Terrain to be eliminated, which would otherwise stop Regigigas in its tracks.
