Overview

Regigigas has the niche, alongside Slaking, of having the highest Attack stat of any Normal-type, while possessing better balanced bulk than Slaking. This allows it to hit hard with powerful STAB-boosted moves like Facade, Extreme Speed, and Return. Its immunity to Ghost-type moves, namely Spectral Thief, also gives it a unique advantage as a setup sweeper.

Priority Killer
Regigigas @ Focus Sash / Life Orb
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Fake Out
- Extreme Speed
- Swords Dance / Spectral Thief
- Baton Pass/Explosion

Set Comments

Moves

- Fake Out: Breaks sashes and wears down opponent's health. Can be used alongside Baton Pass for quick chip damage on opponents.
- Extreme Speed: Regigigas's main damage option. After Fake Out, it's guaranteed to kill Pheromosa, Deoxys-S, and Deoxys-A, has just over a 94% chance of killing uninvested Mewtwo-Y, and is a guaranteed 2HKO on max HP Mewtwo-X and Rayquaza-M.
- Swords Dance: Gives Regigigas additional power on Extreme Speed and Explosion, or allows it to Baton Pass attack to allies. At +2, Extreme Speed has greater than 99.99% odds of 3HKOing 252 / 252+ Zygarde-C and Explosion OHKO's it.
- Spectral Thief: Lets Regigigas hit Ghost-types that are immune to both of its main moves, mainly Gengar-M, which it OHKO's. It also lets it steal setup sweeper's stats and then Baton Pass them to teammates for a reverse sweep. Plus, Mold Breaker allows it to kill Shedinja. It should be noted that running this move makes it harder to Imposterproof.
- Baton Pass: Passes Swords Dance or Spectral Thief boosts to teammates and lets Regigigas get out of situations it doesn't like. On PP stall teams, 64 PP helps make up for Extreme Speed's measly 8 PP.
- Explosion: Since Regigigas's main damage option, Extreme Speed, only had 8PP, it can quickly run out of PP and become a dead weight. Running Explosion allows it to go out with a bang, as Explosion, especially after a couple Swords Dances, will decimate just about anything. Two Swords Dances guarantee it kills 252 / 252+ Registeel, and after 3, even max bulk Fur Coat Zygarde-C at +2 defense will be decimated. This option, as a general rule, should only be chosen for hyper-offensive teams.

Set Details

- Mold Breaker sets this set apart from other Fake Out Extreme Speed sets by allowing it to hit opponents through Dazzling and Queenly Majesty.
- This set runs Max HP and Atk EV's for bulk and hitting as hard as possible. 4 EV's are put into Speed to outspeed uninvested Regigigas's and Slaking's on Fake Out.
- Focus Sash allows it to Fake Out Extreme Speed Rayquaza-M or Mewtwo-X, take a hit, and then finish them off with a second Extreme Speed.
- Life Orb can be carried instead, especially if Explosion is run over Baton Pass, to hit as hard as possible.

Usage Tips

Regigigas's main purpose is to stop frail Shell Smash/Quiver Dance setup sweepers that might be running Dazzling or Queenly Majesty. As long as Psychic Terrain isn't up and the opponent isn't a Ghost-type, Mold Breaker means than nothing can stop Regigigas's Fake Out Extreme Speed combo. Usually when these frail sweepers come onto the field, they use their first turn to Quiver Dance or Shell Smash, meaning Regigigas can switch in on them freely. Even if they do choose to attack the first turn, the sash guarantees Regigigas stays alive and some of the very frail Pokemon (Greninja-Ash, Pheromosa, Mewtwo-Y, Deoxys-A) fall to the combo before they get a chance to attack again. Beware, though, of multi-hit moves.

Team Options

- Ghost types: If Regigigas isn't running Spectral Thief, running any Ghost types Imposterproofs it. Also, two of the biggest threats to Regigigas: Drain Punch from Mewtwo-X, and Sacred Sword from Mold Breaker Gengar, can be freely switched in on by Ghost types. Prankster Giratina with Spore is a great choice, as it can Spore them before they move, and even if Mewtwo-X has Triage, if Giratina is physically bulky it can tank an unboosted Leech Life easily, which is usually a Triage Mewtwo-X's second attacking move.
-Terrain setters: Misty Surge is great support for Regigigas, as it protects it from status, and carrying it allows Psychic Terrain to be eliminated, which would otherwise stop Regigigas in its tracks.

Setup Sweeper
Regigigas @ Terrain Extender
Ability: Prankster / Psychic Surge
Happiness: 0
EVs: 188 HP / 252 Atk / 68 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Taunt
- Shell Smash
- Frustration
- V-Create / Precipice Blades

Set Comments

Moves

- Taunt: Mainly to stop Heart Swaps and Hazes that would take Regigigas's boosts, also protects against status and the like.
- Shell Smash: Is Shell Smash. Lets Regigigas outspeed the entire unboosted meta, while Psychic Surge protects it from priority. This set isn't meant to stay around forever, so the defense drops aren't terrible.
- Frustration: Regigigas's main STAB-move. Being powered by low happiness means max-happiness Imposters can't hit hard.
- V-Create / Precipice Blades: Allows Regigigas to hit Ghost-types and nuke bulky Steel-types.
- V-Create: Hits harder on neutral attacks and is more accurate. However, is resisted by a large part of the meta and comes with stat drops. Primordial Sea and Flash Fire make Pokemon immune to this attack. At +2, has a 56.3% chance to OHKO 252/252+ Aggron-M with Filter, is a guaranteed OHKO without Filter.
- Precipice Blades: Doesn't come with stat drops, hits Groudon-P super-effectively. However, is weaker and less accurate. Flying typing and Levitate make Pokemon immune to this move. The only significant Flying-types that resist Frustration though, are Celesteela and maybe Mega Aerodactyl (Also, like, Skarmony and Driftblim?).

Set Details

- 68 Spe EV's allow Regigigas to outspeed all unboosted Pokemon after a Shell Smash. 252 Atk and an Adamant neighbor are for smacking stuff really hard, and the rest of the EV's go into bulk.
- Psychic Surge is mostly to stop Prankster Haze and Heart Swap, though stopping other priority is nice too. This means that once Regigigas gets a Shell Smash up, it can Taunt any Pokemon before they get a chance to take its boosts, (Spectral Thief can't be Taunted but Regigigas is immune).
- Terrain Extender lets Regigigas take advantage of Psychic Terrain as long as possible, and can also be nice to teammates that also appreciate protection from priority.
- Focus Sash guarantees Regigigas survives a turn to set up Shell Smash, gives it a fighting chance if you mispredict a Taunt, and keeps it from being countered by other Focus Sash users.
- Zero happiness lets Regigigas hit hard with Frustration while high happiness Imposters can't.
Usage Tips

While Regigigas can be very powerful once Shell Smash is up, it is very vulnerable until then. Switching into a Taunt really hurts, and of course, it can't reliably come in on faster Pokemon that have already Shell Smashed. Also, while it is a sweeper by design, this set can also be used sparingly to set up Psychic Terrain and then switch out if your team appreciates it.

Team Options

- Imposter counters: In general, any bulky Steel or Rock type with an ability or typing that grants immunity to Regigigas's coverage move is sufficient. A great option, though, is Mega Gengar, with Primordial Sea or Levitate. Since Gengar sweeping sets often run Dazzling anyways, Psychic Terrain being up frees up that ability slot. An interesting note is that under Primordial Sea, Gengar can run Splash Plate instead of its more common Spooky Plate to hit just as hard, fool opponents, and hit Groudon-P hard, a Pokemon that would usually give V-Create Regigigas trouble.
- Aromatherapy support: Regigigas generally just hates status, and paralysis, burn, and sleep all cripple it.
- Pokemon that appreciate Psychic Terrain: If used right, Regigigas's Psychic Surge can allow other Pokemon that would usually run Dazzling to free up their ability slot.

Strategy Comments

Other Options

- On Priority Killer, U-turn can be run in place of Baton Pass if a team appreciates the chip damage more than stat-passing.
- Priority Killer can run 4 Def / 0 Spe with 0 Speed IV's and Brave nature to allow for a slow Baton Pass or U-Turn, but this means uninvested Kyurem-B outspeeds it on Fake Out.
- 4 Def / 0 Spe, 22 Speed IV's, and keeping Adamant Nature fixes this.
-Misty Surge can be run instead of Mold Breaker on Priority Killer to counter Psychic terrain, but Regigigas's team often has to be changed dramatically to adjust to Misty Terrain, and Dazzling seems to be more common in the meta than Psychic Surge.
-Setup Sweeper Regigigas can run Spore instead of Taunt for more general usefulness and to give it a chance for doubling up on Shell Smashes. However, Safety Goggles and Poison Heal are pretty common in the Meta, and the consequences of getting Spore bounced back at you can be more severe than Taunt.
-Setup Sweeper Regigigas can run full happiness and Return to counter Imposters running minimum happiness to counter Pokemon running Frustration to counter Imposters running max happiness to counter Pokemon running Return... and so on... There really is no winning answer in this demented game of Rock Paper Scissors. Just bring a Ghost type.

Checks and Counters

- Ghost-types: Neither of Priority Killer Regigigas's main moves hit Ghost types. Spectral Thief patches this issue up, but also means Imposterproofing it with a Ghost type doesn't work as well. Also, one should note that if Regigigas's moves have been scouted by an Imposter and it's running Explosion, the opponent may be able to predict the use of Explosion and switch into a Ghost-type that turn, meaning Regigigas dies for nothing.
- Healing attacks: Extreme Speed, unless boosted, can't OHKO much, so Pokemon that can heal up faster than they take damage are an issue. The biggest threats here are Drain Punch Mewtwo-X and Triage Oblivion Wing Rayquaza-M.
- Faster Priority: Ironically, priority -Ate users, which the Priority Killer set is meant to replace, are also one of its biggest issues. Diancie-M and Rayquaza-M both outspeed it on the Fake Out, and then Extreme Speed it to death before it can return the favor. Also, this set runs 4 Spe EV's for the express purpose of outspeeding Slaking's and other Regigigas's on the Fake Out, but an opponent could theoretically run 8 Spe EV's to one up this set.
-King's shield: Halving Priority Killed Regigigas's attack leaves it in a bad position where it has to leave itself or a teammate vulnerable by Swords Dancing itsels back to normal or switching, or else Baton Pass the halved attack stat to a teammate.
-Sturdy Shedinja: Priority Killer Regigigas can't touch it unless you run Spectral Thief, and it just sorta wrecks Setup Sweeper Regigigas.
-Magic Bounce Haze: Setup Sweeper tries to Taunt, gets it bounced back, gets Hazed, and then can't Shell Smash again because Taunt. Very sad.

Overview

Regigigas has the niche, alongside Slaking, of having the highest Attack stat of any Normal-type, while possessing better balanced bulk than Slaking. This allows it to hit hard with powerful STAB-boosted moves like Facade and Extreme Speed. With the 7th Generation's introduction of the ability Dazzling, Extreme Speed -Ate users have fallen in use, and in turn, fast, frail, boosting sweepers have risen in use. Regigigas is able to counter these very well, because not needing an -Ate ability for power frees up its ability slot for things like Mold Breaker.

Usage Tips

While Regigigas can be very powerful once Shell Smash is up, it is very vulnerable until then. This should still be bullets rn, so it's a bit harder to see what's lacking, but this is still missing a lot of information. Look at other analyses for a guide, but at the minimum I should be seeing a mention of each set it has here, some of it's positive traits (mixed bulk, etc), particularly what makes it better than its competition like MRay and Slaking on certain teams.

Set Details

- Mold Breaker sets this set apart from other Fake Out Extreme Speed sets by allowing it to hit opponents such as (give examples of dazzling sweepers) through Dazzling and Queenly Majesty.
- This set runs Max HP and Atk EV's for bulk and hitting as hard as possible. 4 EV's are put into Speed to outspeed uninvested Regigigas's and Slaking's on Fake Out. Don't mention speed creep
* 252 HP EVs increase Regigiga's bulk while not aiding imposter and allows it to...

- Focus Sash allows it to Fake Out Extreme Speed Rayquaza-M or Mewtwo-X, take a hit, and then finish them off with a second Extreme Speed.
- Life Orb is can be carried instead, especially if Explosion is run over Baton Pass, to hit as hard as possible.

Usage Tips

Regigigas's main purpose is to stop frail Shell Smash/Quiver Dance setup sweepers such as that might be running Dazzling or Queenly Majesty. As long as Psychic Terrain isn't up and the opponent isn't a Ghost-type, Mold Breaker means than nothing can stop Regigigas's Fake Out Extreme Speed combo. Usually when these frail sweepers come onto the field, they use their first turn to Quiver Dance or Shell Smash, meaning Regigigas can switch in on them freely remove this, don't tell them to rely on the foe being bad. Put this in bullets, mention steel types/etc. Remove the parenthetical clause.

* Bullet for steels that are immune to your coverage (FF for v-create, levitate/celesteela for blades, and Aegi for CC)
-Terrain setters: Misty Surge is great support for Regigigas, as it protects it from status, and carrying it allows Psychic Terrain to be eliminated, which would otherwise stop Regigigas in its tracks.
* Hazard Setters such as (examples here) to wear down switches
* Stallbreakers such as Choice Specs mega rayquaza and...

I'm iffy on this set, so leave for QC if you want, but I advise removing it

Smogon Policy, use return

- Psychic Surge is mostly to stop Prankster Haze and Heart Swap, Hazegoes through though stopping other priority is nice too. This means that once Regigigas gets a Shell Smash up, it can Taunt any Pokemon before they get a chance to take its boosts, (Spectral Thief can't be Taunted but Regigigas is immune). Replace this with dazzling

Expand this, change to bullets, and remove the stuff on psychic terrain. mention what it sets up on, what it switches out of, etc

This is bad
* Wallbreakers
* Slow Pivots
* Hazard Setters
* Hazard Clearers for sash

Poison Heal set here. If you don't know what to run, pm me, but this should be reasonably simple.

Split into Walls and the second part into faster attackers
-Sturdy Shedinja: Priority Killer Regigigas can't touch it unless you run Spectral Thief, and it just sorta wrecks Setup Sweeper Regigigas. elaborate
-Magic Bounce Haze: Setup Sweeper tries to Taunt, gets it bounced back, gets Hazed, and then can't Shell Smash again because Taunt. Very sad.
Overall, this analysis is really lacking in places, both in format and content. I'd advise looking at succesful analyses such as scarfwynaut's chansey one, and the regigigas one from last gen. Additionally, don't mention niche options, creep, return vs frustration, or similar in your analysis.
