Wait, you can't keep your ability after you mega evolve, so your mega slowbro is still getting hit by thundy's tbolt, right?

You choose when to mega evolve. After the electric is gone, then you mega. Of course, this does cause issues with things like thundurus+adaptability sd terrakion, when you are forced to mega because you need the bulk.
