LC Abra

Abra @ Shed Shell
Ability: Inner Focus
Level: 5
EVs: 36 Atk / 236 SpA / 196 Spe
Naive Nature
- Psychic
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Punch
- Substitute

This uncommon set will leave your opponent surprised! Shed Shell cancels Arena Trap's effect, making otherwise good options to revenge kill Abra in opposing trappers obsolete. This makes Abra much harder to answer defensively and gives it more opportunities to fire off strong attacks. Moreover, Abra has a great matchup against common leads such as Mienfoo and Koffing thanks to its ability and typing, forcing them out to set up Substitute. The combination of Substitute and Focus Punch allows Abra to lure and heavily dent its common checks, namely Steel-types such as Pawniard and Ferroseed. This set's ability to weaken these targets is appreciated by Pokemon which share those checks such as Porygon. Shadow Ball hits opposing Psychic-types such as Natu and Galarian Ponyta, as well as Frillish. Countertrappers such as Air Balloon Diglett and Trace Porygon can easily remove opposing trappers for Abra.

Abra paves the way for immediate havoc thanks to a great matchup against common leads such as Mienfoo and Koffing. Inner Focus nullifying Fake Out flinches and Psychic forcing them out means Abra can build progress since the beginning of the game.(This shouldn't be the focus of the overview. It should be about Shed Shell. You can briefly mention this afterwards.) Substitute is used on the first turn to take advantage of the pressure Abra induces.(Just mention that Abra can set up Substitute against forced switches) The combination of a set Substitute and Focus Punch allows Abra to heavily dent its common checks: Steel-types such as Pawniard and Ferroseed. Shadow Ball hits opposing bulky Psychic-types such as Natu and Ponyta-Galar, as well as Frillish. Abra's Shed Shell cancels Arena Trap's effect, making otherwise good options to revenge kill Abra such as Diglett obsolete.(This should be the focus of the spotlight. You need to discuss why this is important, since Diglett is incredibly prevalent in the metagame right now.) This set's ability to weaken opposing Steel-types is appreciated by Pokémon which share those checks such as Porygon. A Ground-type immunity or resist to switch into trappers is great: Natu, Air Balloon Diglett and Grookey are good choices, but the former two need to beware of Beat Up. Trappers such as Air Balloon Diglett or Trapinch and Trace Porygon can easily remove weakened Steel-types opposing trappers for Abra.

This uncommon set will leave your opponent surprised! Shed Shell is used over other more common items as it cancels Arena Trap's effect, making otherwise good options to revenge kill Abra in opposing trappers obsolete. As such, Abra is much harder to answer to. It is also a surprising item, guaranteeing your opponent will be set on the backfoot once it is revealed. This makes it much harder to answer defensively and gives it more opportunities to fire off strong attacks. Moreover, Abra has a great matchup against common leads such as Mienfoo and Koffing thanks to its Ability and typing. Abra can force switches from these common Pokémon,(RC) so a Substitute is easy to set up Substitute. The combination of Substitute and Focus Punch allows Abra to lure and heavily dent its common checks: Steel-types such as Pawniard and Ferroseed. Shadow Ball hits opposing Psychic-types such as Natu and Ponyta-Galar, as well as Frillish. Plz tag me on discord before you send this to GP so I can make sure this is accurate. We need to give much more info on the set and less explanation on what each moves hit (like an analysis). 1/1 after Check 2.
