SM UU ¡ZAP! |Mega-Mane BO|

¡ZAP!
A Mega-Manectric Bulky Offense Team
Introduction
Hello everyone, I'm millionsunz, and this is my first RMT emerging from the USUM metagame. This is not my first time on Smogon's RMT, and this is not this my first time playing Pokemon competitively nor rating teams. I was a pretty avid Gen 6 OU player and team rater back in the day, even competing in an RMT tournament for the coveted badge. I played SM initially when it came out, but, as I'm sure you all know, school can be pretty demanding, and so I was unable to continue to play or even keep up with the metagame. With school winding down and all that jazz, I thought I'd give Gen 7 OU a shot, and boy was it boring. It was fun to try out all the new Gen 7 Pokemon like the Tapus and Magearna, but after a while I realized that every team was pretty much made of 10 different Pokemon (Lando, Heatran, Mag, Koko, Gren, Zygarde, Clef, Pex, and all those boring mons). Where is the fun in that? Where is the diversity? Where are the interesting sets that blow players away (and Gren running tech moves does not count as an interesting set). With this in mind, I turned to UU, which turned out to be far more interesting than Gen 7 OU. In UU, you have diversity. In UU, each team does not look the same, in UU, fun still exists. In UU, the heart of competitive Pokemon is still alive.

Teambuilding Process
It's quite long so I'll just throw it in a drop-down right below
I picked viable Pokemon that complement each other's strengths and cover each other's shortcomings.
Each Pokemon's role will be explained in their sets, I don't understand why some still put their building process here; it is usually all the same: "I started with X, which forms a nice core with Y, and these two are supported with Z which handles W for X and Y, and ya da ya da ya da we get it, you picked a Pokemon or core to start with and worked from there to fit your playstyle.

The Team

Manectric-Mega @ Manectite
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Overheat / Flamethrower
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Mega-Mane was the focus of this team, and is its namesake. It was alright in Gen 6 OU, but it was a niche Mega whose ability to shift the tide in battle (or lack thereof) didn't really justify it's usage as the team's single Mega. In Gen 7 UU however, MegaMane is beast to say the least. It's extremely high speed stat is only beaten by two unboosted/unScarfed Pokemon, MegaAero and MegaBee, and so MegaMane is able to outspeed an extremely large portion of the metagame, and its nice SpAtk stat allows it to hit pretty hard as well. On the team, MegaMane acts as a part of the VoltTurn core, a strong Special Attacker, and as the chosen revenge killer due to it's godly speed tier. Volt Switch is a must-have for MegaMane, as it is arguably one of the best moves in the game currently, allowing MegaMane to gain momentum for your team. Thunderbolt is a strong STAB attack that allows MegaMane to hit Pokemon with a solid Electric-Type attack and not be forced to switch out. I prefer Overheat over Flamethrower to hit Steel and Grass-Type Pokemon as Overheat is able to pick up on some OHKOs that Flamethrower is not (see calcs down below). Overheat hits with more power, but if you desire the ability to hit with a Fire-Type attack and not lose power, Flamethrower is your move. Finally, HP Ice is used to smack the ever-present Gliscor, and in fact OHKOs most offensive variants of Gliscor.

Overheat v. Flamethrower

Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 252 HP / 68 Atk / 188 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance / Defog / Stone Edge / Taunt
- Earthquake
- Roost
- Facade / Ice Fang

Gliscor is a top-tier threat and a staple on most UU teams, and for good reason. Strong defensive and speed stats and a regenerative ability make Gliscor a pretty tough Pokemon to take down, if you don't have the right tools. Gliscor plays an important role on the team, acting as a soft (and I repeat SOFT) check to Pokemon like Scizor and Breloom, who can outspeed MegaMane with their priority moves. I opted for the SD Stallbreaker EV set to make Gliscor play a more offensive role on the team rather than more defensive one, and boy does the set not disappoint. SD Gliscor is a monster, being able to deal loads of damage to loads of Pokemon that think they can switch into it (see Calcs below). You don't really have to use SD on this set either, although I prefer to. Lack of Defog on any other 'mon make trouble you a bit, and so Defog can be run over SD. Edge can be run if you desire EdgeQuake coverage, and Taunt can be used if you really hate nonattacking moves, but for the team, SD Gliscor provides a nice offensive presence that is much appreciated. EQ and Roost are staples on Gliscor, providing it with a strong STAB attack and recovery for even more longevity. For the last moveslot, another attacking move other than EQ is recommended so that you are not walled by other Gliscor or Flying-Types, and I usually opt for Facade, but Ice Fang can be run to surprise other Gliscor (something that I have been seeing a lot of by the way). Overall, Gliscor provides a nice balance of offensive and defensive usage for the team, and is able to form a nice core with MegaMane, who can remove pesky Water and Ice-Types for Gliscor who in return avoids EQ and other Ground-Type attacks.

Latias @ Dragonium Z
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Calm Mind / Defog
- Draco Meteor
- Psychic / Psyshock
- Recover

Latias is another extremely powerful Pokemon in the UU tier, offering great defensive and offensive capabilities. Most importantly however, Latias is able to break through certain Pokemon that MegaMane and Gliscor simple can't combined: Swampert and Seismitoad. With their immunities to Electric-Type attacks and resistance to Ground-Type attacks, in addition to their ability to dish out large amounts of damage with Scald and EQ/Earth Power, these two Pokemon looked extremely troublesome for the team. Latias rectifies this weakness. It's high offensive and speed stats allow it to hit hard and fast. Calm Mind can turn Latias into a potent sweeper or wallbreaker, setting up on Pokemon like Seismitoad and Swampert (as long as you're ok with it getting hit by a Toxic), and it can even win in situations against Specs Volcanion. Draco Meteor is an absolute nuclear attack, dealing loads of damage to most of the tier, and when combined with Dragonium Z, little is going to want to switch into Latias. Psychic is preferred over Psyshock simple because of it's higher base power and ability to hit Swampert/Seismitoad harder, as their Def stats are usually higher than their SpDef stats. Recover is a nice boost to the longevity of Lati as well. You could make Latias more defensive as well, replacing CM with Defog (as the team has no dedicated hazard remover), and replaced Dragonium Z with Leftovers, but I find that the offensive presence that Lati brings packing CM doesn't justify completely neutering the beast.

Lati has pretty good defensive stats, these are just some important defensive ones to show what Lati can switch in on, beware what it cannot switch in on (like Banded BP from Scizor)

Scizor @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Superpower
- Knock Off

Scizor is another absolute powerhouse in the UU tier, and with a Choice Band, it hits harder than a truck. With it's extremely high Attack stat and useful ability in Technician, Scizor is a wonderful physical wallbreaker with some useful priority. Maximum Attack investment fuel's its Choice Banded hits, and non-Natured maximum speed investment makes sure that it hits before some of the slower Pokemon in the tier, like Alomomola. BP is absolute beastly move for Scizor, very little Pokemon are able to switch into it and take another one the following turn. U-Turn completes the VoltTurn core with MegaMane, and allows for the switching in of more defensive Pokemon like Muk or more offensive Pokemon like MegaMane; either way, you gain momentum by clicking U-Turn. SuperPower is a nice move to hit Pokemon like Blissey and MegaAggron pretty powerfully, and finally Knock Off is an all around useful move to hit Pokemon like Latias and remove the item of bulkier Pokemon like Hippo, Swampert, and Seismitoad. Bug Bite or Pursuit can be used on Scizor, but I find that SuperPower + Knock Off fits the team better than a stronger Bug-Type Attack, and Muk carries Pursuit as well. Overall, Scizor's fantastic offensive capabilities, and decent defensive ones, make it one of the most potent Pokemon in the metagame, and a must have for teams lacking a strong physical attacker or looking to create a VoltTurn core.

Muk-Alola @ Assault Vest
Ability: Poison Touch
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Fire Punch
- Knock Off
- Poison Jab
- Pursuit / Shadow Sneak

The team was looking pretty weak to some strong special attackers in the tier, namely other Latias, Primarina, and Hydreigon. Alola Muk doesn't care about Hydreigon and Latias. With it's large HP and SpDef stats, in conjunction with an Assault Vest, Muk is able to eat up Special hits like they're eggs for a Sunday morning brunch. Maximum Attack investment is run to maximize the damage output of Muk, and maximum SpDef investment is used to boost Muk's bulkiness. No HP investment is really needed for Muk, as it has a high base 105 HP, but if you desire an even bulkier Muk you could sacrifice some attacking power for the extra bulk. Fire Punch is coverage for Scizor and Klefki, while Knock Off is a strong STAB attack that hits Psychic and Ghost type Pokemon like Latias and Gengar extremely hard. Poison Jab is another strong STAB attack, hitting Primarina and other Fairies brutally, and it can even pick up some poisons in conjunction with Poison Touch. I usually give the last moveslot to Pursuit to allow Muk to come in on and trap Pokemon like Gengar and Latias, but Shadow Sneak can be useful for revenge killing and a faster attack.

Seismitoad @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Scald
- Earth Power
- Toxic

Finally, the team lacked a reliable SR user and a way to deal with Pokemon like Scarf Krook and other fast Ground-Type Pokemon that carry coverage moves for Lati and Gliscor. Seismitoad fits this role wonderfully with its dual Water/Ground typing, which grants it plenty of resistances to cover the team's weaknesses, and the team cover's Seismitoad's Grass weakness very well. Seismitoad was picked over Swampert, another, arguably more, viable Water/Ground SR user because of Seismitoad's ability to come in on Scald and Liquidation and other Water-Type attacks and absorb them with Water Absorb. Seismitoad is not the bulkiest Pokemon in the tier, but it has enough viability as a switch in to strong physical attacks that I decided to throw it on the team. SR is a must have for the team, as it is required for some some key OHKOs or 2HKOs, while Scald is able to hurt Pokemon like Gliscor and Hippo. Earth Power is a nice STAB move that can maim Volcanion and Alolan Muk, and Toxic allows it to begin wearing down other annoyingly bulky Pokemon like Hippo and Swampert, or other Seismitoad.

Threatlist
: SD Breloom is pretty threatening to most teams in UU, and while this team has a few ways to deal with Breloom before it can set up (BP from Scizor, Psychic from Latias, Overheat/Flamethrower from MegaMane), if Breloom is able to set up an SD or two it can become a real problem real fast.

+
: Special Spam, especially from Hydreigon and Serp, can wear down Muk fast, as Muk has no reliable source of recovery, and once Muk is gone and other defensive Pokemon like Gliscor, Toad, and Lati are weakened, it can pretty much be game over from there.

Conclusion
That's ¡ZAP!, a Mega-Manectric BO team. Please feel free to use it, and abuse it to get to the top of the ladder, and also feel free to give any suggestions if you see any flaws I may have missed in the teambuilding process. I'm back.
"every team was pretty much made of 10 different Pokemon (Lando, Heatran, Mag, Koko, Gren, Garde, Clef, Pex, and all those boring mons)"

Garde ? M-Gardevoir is dead lol, I think u mean Lele

Anyways let me give this team a rate, the UU RMT community is pretty sparse.

: I think using Acrobatics in one of your moveslots for Breloom is a good idea since you don't have a Grass-type/Safety Goggles user to be a Spore absorber, it's only a little weaker than Wing Attack, and after your Toxic Orb gets activated it's okay to get Knocked Off so that Acrobatics becomes stronger. Breloom are actually very likely to stay in on Gliscor since it can't do much in return if it's unboosted. Stone Edge dosen't really hit anything in the tier so it's generally not a good option (Moltres is the only target I can think of that's common). I'd also recommend trying out Toxic as an option, it's good for wearing down Swampert, Hippo, and Rhyp, all three very common rockers in the tier, though be wary of Ice Punch from Rhyp. Using a more sp def variant is fine too if you decide not to use SD, but Nidoking becomes harder to play around without the speed you're using right now.

: Don't slash CM and Defog, you really do want CM since a +1 Z-Draco will nuke A-Muk and Scizor, and both are pretty common mons that both can Pursuit trap Latias, and playing 50/50s isn't nice, so if you want Lati to be your hazard control just use Defog over Recover and play it more carefully. Healing Wish is also a cool option to heal up A-Muk to full.

: Definitely 100% use Pursuit, Shadow Sneak isn't worth it since A-Muk is able to Pursuit a ton of different threats, with Latias and Serperior being the most notable ones.

: Seismitoad is a good and viable mon in the tier, but the water-immunity dosen't really help for too many threats besides Volcanion (Suicune still PP stalls you) so Swampert generally outclasses it, I'd suggest using either Knock Off or Refresh because those two options are unique to Toad.

Hope this rate helps you with the tier!

No hazard control on a Volturn based team is pretty much suicide imo specially if you're only way of dealing with Latias Z Drake is Muk (which takes up to 70% at +1) so i'd suggest having defog on Gliscor.
Defog isnt an option on CM Tias you need each moves (aka Psyshock for blissey / DM / Reco / CM).
I'm not a huge fan of that Scizor spreads, it doesn't need to be max speed atm, enough speed to outspeed klefki is good, the bulk it grants you allows you to survive a Z drake from Tias if Muk isnt healthy anymore. Same for that Muk spread not a huge fan, if you're team is weak to special attackers get a more bulkier Muk spread, 136 in atk is plenty enough to win your duel against Latias if you run Shadow sneak which you should as you got way enough Scizor's answers (Manectric / Scizor itself / Gliscor for the band zor / Seismi / Latias Z drake nuking it to heaven).
Like Felixx said Seismi isn't much used now that Rotom is gone and you'd rather use Swampert to get a bulkier rock setter that would give you a stronger matchup against Scizor's but also gives you setup control with roar.
Here's the changes i'd make :

28 speed on Muk allows you to outspeed Swampert and 8 speed Swampert is enough to outspeed 20 speed invested Muk (hence why 28 on Muk).
Hope this helps ! You should pay attention to Moltres its also a huge threat to your team if you can't keep rocks on the field

First off what you said in your introduction is bullshit because your team is what everybody is spamming on the ladder rn. I don't really like the team tbh, you have poor speed control, no hazard control, the Seismitoad + Muk-Alola core gets easily worn down and that archetype is overall bad imo cuz it's super easy to prep for, don't expect too much out of it. Anw I agree with Mapplle's suggestions except for Seismitoad, even though that thing is a mistake and should be NU, it's your only scald switch in. Like you said it's pretty weak to Hydreigon, you have to put it in range of bullet punch rocks/pursuit damage in order to revenge kill the scarf version, but Primarina gets free kills too since you're not running roost. That's why I thing you should consider either running Scarf Latias w/ Healing Wish and Ice Beam and SD Roost Z Scizor or CM Latias and SD Roost Iron plate Scizor. I prefer Scarf Latias on this team since it gives you Healing Wish support as well as speed control and a better way of dealing with SD Gliscor. Hope my rate helped you and have fun with the team !

In addition, any questions you may have about the team are much appreciated and are encouraged. Check out the importable below. I hope y'all enjoy the team as much as I have and find as much success with it.

Looking at this team, there's no speed control, no fairy, and no hazard removal on a volt turn team. On top of this, Seismitoad is generally outclassed by Swampert 90% of the time as a defensive water/ground rocker. Seismitoad's main niche is as an offensive rocker these days. No worries though, here's what I'd do to patch some of these things up:

- We're changing this to your rocker. Defensive Seismitoad is way too passive on this team tbh, and like I said is generally outclassed by Swampert anyways. You have a Gliscor right there and I think you'd benefit by making it your rocker > Seismitoad. The stall matchup gets a bit worse, but don't worry we'll fix that later n_n. I went with a faster Gliscor to outspeed Lucario, which could give this team a lot of trouble otherwise. Also, making Gliscor your rocker gives you a free team slot for removal which I'll talk about later :D.
Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 252 HP / 40 SpD / 216 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt / Toxic
- Roost
- Earthquake

- We're switching out Muk for a Togekiss, I'm sorry but your Hydreigon matchup is just not good without a fairy... and Togekiss provides a much better stall matchup with the support it has than even Gliscor did. This really helps the "special spam" issue you talked about as well considering Togekiss is a very reliable check to both Hydreigon and Serperior :o.
Togekiss @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Air Slash
- Heal Bell
- Roost

- Now that Muk is gone, the ghost matchup is lookin pretty fuckin awful, Gengar can take a shit on this squad and so can Chandelure, so we're making your CM Lati -> Scarf Hydreigon. What this does is give you a nice little U-Turn core with CB Scizor (I've been using this core for ages, trust me it's great). This also gives you a reliable ghost switch in because of it's dark typing which you'd be lacking w/o Muk now. Also... this team previously had NO speed control aside from CB Scizor Bullet Punch, which I'd generally not recommend, this fixes that issue. Oh, and this gives you a pretty consistent Serperior answer.
Hydreigon @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Dark Pulse
- U-turn
- Fire Blast

- Now about that 6th team slot, Starmie should work just fine here as your hazard removal. It's removal which is what you desperately need rn, and it's removal that doesn't suck up momentum which is important. This pokemon is very hard to switch into and beats all of the ghost types (spin blockers) in the tier, so I think it could work well. Another option could even be Tsareena to improve the bulky ground matchup, which is somewhat lacking rn.

Ability: Analytic
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Psyshock
- Ice Beam
- Rapid Spin

- Aight one last thing, now that Muk is gone, the Latias matchup is a little tricky rn, and you lack Pursuit support. So we're giving Pursuit to the Scizor over Knock Off and making it a much bulkier spread so it can safely switch into Psychics and Dracos. This gives a much better Lati matchup n_n. The spread just speed creeps Klefki, hits max Atk, and dumps the rest into HP.
