  • I came back to say the same thing I said in my last message, but I'm afraid I was forgotten about again...

Hiya, still lurking occasionally, came back to see what people were saying about SwSh
Long time no talk, hope you're doing well

I'm not going to lie, I'm struggling to remember who you are.

But yes, doing very well thank you, person on the internet.

    LOL really

Yeah we haven't talked in over a year but you can scroll down to see my old messages haha
Pokken has finally been announced for Wii U and now everybody has suddenly decided they're not interested any more.
yo - do you still want to work on roselia? your post in the thread wasnt too clear

I'll put it back up for reservation. Since I've not done any Gen VI NU analyses up to this point, I think I'll just get Zangoose out of the way since that one's more straightforward.

I don't want to derail the thread but I hope you were trollbaiting with that comment

I don't really want to get into the same argument that has already been had thousands of times which I know is kinda silly to say after I wrote all those paragraphs. But there really isn't any argument, it is just a little surprising to me when people don't understand (or pretend they don't) the other at this point, even if they still disagree.

Okay fair enough, maybe my comparison was a bit wide of the mark.

Still, for me, Pokegen didn't inherently give an unfair advantage, as long as you didn't use it to hack illegal movesets. Everything you Pokegened could be done by IV breeding/soft-resetting legendaries, but who has time for that? When even a former VGC champion openly admits that he gets his friends to breed Pokemon to his precise orders, I think it's fair to say that it doesn't really matter where you get Pokemon from so long as they have legal sets.

The trading card comparison is a reasonable one, but there is a crucial difference: by printing fake cards you are depriving the devs of money, whereas Pokegen never did that because you have already bought the game and breeding Pokemon itself doesn't cost money, only time.

Of course one day this argument may go full circle when GameFreak does the evil thing and offers a proprietary Pokegen-style service where it sells you custom-made builds at $0.99 a Pokemon.

LOL yeah, It'd be a dark day but I can see it happening, they're already going towards those in-game purchases with Shuffle and Rumble World (although those aren't Game Freak are they?)

Also, I still don't find the money comparison good, because value doesn't necessarily have to be strictly cash. And I think hurting other players is something that should be considered too, not just the developers.

I also don't mind VGC players getting their Pokemon for free as long as someone did the actual work to get them. Getting something a legitimate way and then gifting it to another person is completely normal and fine.

Regardless of what either of us think though, I honestly don't think GF will change this model though 'cause that's a large part of why people like the game. Especially kids, can't tell you how much little kids love trading, it's like the only thing they do!
Ah, it's too bad your thread was closed. I guess I'll respond to it here then: I've never played Skyrim so I'm not familiar with it, but if it's safe to assume open-world means an MMORPG kind of deal, I was under the impression that Pokemon players have wanted that for a very long time.

So what's your actual opinion if you don't mind me asking?

Not sure. I'd maybe end up buying it since the Wii U library is a bit thin at the moment. It'd be nice to have something that recaptured the sense of exploration that RBY/GSC had.

Well I said this already but personally I'd prefer if it was for the 3DS since it seems like a really good competitive game. Although I'd understand if they needed the power of the Wii U to play such a large game.
Hey noobcubed, it's been a few months but we finally did the challenge you wanted. Hope you're still up for it!
Was just thinkin bout you and realized I haven't seen you in Doubles subforum or #doubles in the longest. What happened to you dude?
Hey noobcubed, I really liked that you were interesting in the OL but sadly weren't able to enter yet. If you have any ideas for the next challenge, feel free to tell me. I'd really like it if you're able to participate in the next round!

As for challenges, it would be nice to have something that isn't just speedrunning/nuzlocking/battle tower. Two reasons: more interesting, and a more level playing field.

How about, similar to the "gain as much money as you can in one hour" challenge, "catch as many species as you can in hour"?

That's a challenge that has been suggested to me that I really like, but we're probably going to wait a while before using it since it was in the XY competition. This round we are thinking of going for a spin-off. (Actually, we just decided on one but if you have any other ideas I'd still love to hear them)
Tbh I'd just stay out of arguing with people about stupid stuff(see:below). It's not productive + that thread will be locked / filled with bad rates anyway.
