I have been playing
Pokémon since the summer before my freshman year of high school. Initially, I played exclusively with emulators. The first game I beat as such was
Pokémon Blue, in which I started with
Squirtle. After starting to learn the ins and outs of Pokémon games with the help of experienced friends and
Strategy Wiki, I can say that the player who inspired me to advance to
Generation II and the rest of the series, starting with his
Crystal Let's Play, was
Chuggaaconroy.In my sophomore year, I bought a
DS Lite off a friend, which has since died and been replaced, and the first game I beat legitimately was
Pokémon Diamond, in which I started with
Chimchar.
In the last five years, I have assembled the largest collection of Pokémon games among my peers. My main series games include
Blue,
Yellow, and all twenty-three games of the last six generations. I also have
Stadium 1 and
2,
Colosseum,
XD, and
Battle Revolution. I don't shame people that want to play with glitches and hacks and will gladly go nuts with them on emulators; however, I abhor the idea of having them on my cartridges, so I trade between multiple systems, including a
3DS, a
2DS, a
Game Boy Advance and a
Game Boy Advance SP. I also have a
Wii, a
Nintendo e-Reader, the original
Eon Ticket and a
Nintendo 64. I have kept or ordered cases for each game, and have patronized
Custom Game Cases to house the Game Boy family and Nintendo 64 games.
